SCOceania.com is proud to announce an ongoing fortnightly tournament for the SEA server. With rankings being tallied from the results of the tournament and a $50(AUD) prize for the winner, a lot of pride is at stake!
Anyone who is a resident of an SEA server nation is eligible to Join this Tournament!
When and Where?
The 1st Southern Cross Series is 6pm Thursday the 23rd of September. With the final being played at 6pm on Friday the 24th.
Cash Prizes
A $50 cash prize is on offer for the winner of the tournament every fortnight. Proudly sponsored by SCOceania.com staffs backpockets haha.
Other Prizes
Placing higher in the SCOceania.com Southern Cross Series tournaments will yield non-cash benefits such as ranking points that count towards the Oceania rankings calculated on the website.
Tournament Format
The Southern Cross Series Tournaments follow a single elimination format. Matches played up until the semi-finals on Thursday are best-of-one (BO1), the semi-finals are best-of-three (BO3), and the finals on Friday a best-of-five (BO5). The format is not finalised yet, and the number of participants may differ each week. (This week however, we've set a tentative sign-up limit to 64 players - so sign up ASAP!)
Map Pool
The maps will be predetermined, and in BOX series the loser of the previous game will always pick the map (from the map pool) for the subsequent game.
- 1st Round: Metalopolis
- 2nd Round: Xel'Naga Caverns
- 3rd Round: Scrap Station
- 4th Round: Lost Temple
- 5th Round: Delta Quadrant
- 6th Round: Steppes of War
The following maps are available for players to pick upon loss(maps cannot be repeated if just played in the previous game):
- Lost Temple
- Metalopolis
- Xel'Naga Caverns
- Scrap Station
- Lost Temple
- Delta Quadrant
- Steppes of War
- Kulas Ravine
- Blistering Sands
How Do I Sign Up?
By Clicking the sign-up button on the site! It's that easy. Direct link to sign-up: http://scoceania.com/tournament/southern-cross-series-1. If you can't see a sign-up link you need to fill out the quick registration form - we'll never need to ask for your B.Net details for the tourneys again!
Competing
After the signup phase is complete, the brackets will be announced. This usually happens at 12pm on the first day of play, but may differ week to week. Players will need to make contact with their opponent, and set up a game as soon as possible. Once the game is complete, the winning player submits the replay to the tournament admin - email will be provided soon. Players must contact the designated tournament admin if any disputes arise.
Spectating, Live Casts and Replays
Spectators may be invited to join a match only if both players agree to it. Quarter-Final matches onwards, or any round thereafter, may be cast live via a live stream for all to watch.
Unstable will be covering the Grand Final on Friday, view his stream at - http://www.ustream.tv/channel/unstable-tv1
If anyone else would like to stream some games from Thursday, please PM me always happy to help out some Oceanic/SEA casters
Replays A comprehensive replay pack of all quarter final matches onwards will be released.
For all of the rules and a comprehensive (live) list of players who have signed up go to SCOceania.com - direct link to tournament: Click here

WATCH YOUR BACK.

6pm what time?
If GMT+10, why smack in the middle of dinner time for everyone in QLD/NSW/VIC
|
I will win, sorry guys just the way it is.
|
it is +10GMT, we'll allow for some dinner time but it wouldn't be possible to do a relatively sizey tournament at a time that misses dinner (start at 8pm would be 11+ finish)
Afternoon tourneys are great but hard to work around everyones schedules If popular opinion would prefer a later start I can change it, however I just worry we could end up running a bit late especially if we go past 64 players ever..
|
|
If only 32 or so sign up I can see a late start working.
Also I like the 'Pull Out of Tournament' option to reduce walkovers.
|
would love to be playing T.T, but when us server hits ima be hardcore laddering like mad there till i get back in the groove .
|
Sign ups for this first Southern Cross Series will close sometime tommorow morning (in about 24 hours). Brackets will go up at the same time. So stay tuned - and sign up if you haven't already!
|
BTW if you are an independent caster and wanna cover some of the games on Thursday you should post here so your stream can be added to the op.
All casters are encouraged to cover the event for fun! Hopefully if you can get some good games streamed you can help make a name for yourself as a caster to look out for!
