Good evening fellow TLers,
Tonight I bring you some sweet content. Assassin and I (deViation) casted the best of 5 series matchup from the Finals of the Chofly Invitational that happened on September 19 2010.
Brackets of the tournament: http://challonge.com/choflyinvite Link to the original tourny thread: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=153280
The reason I did not post this in the original tourny thread is because Butterfly started that thread and I am the one making the videos. Butterfly is not here at the moment so I decided to make a new thread for this because I don't have access to his account.
This is our first time casting but I think it turned out pretty good. I made a little intro and stuff to add to the production value. The games are uploaded on Youtube for all to see, and let me tell you, both players gave us quite a final Bo5 series.
If you are in a hurry and you only want to watch one game instead of all 5, I recommend the last one. Intense stuff in my opinion.
Here are the VODs (game 1 is seperated into 2 different parts because the length is longer than 15 minutes and Youtube only supports 15 minutes max lengths) :
Watch in HD for a better experience Game1 Part 1: + Show Spoiler + Game 1 Part 2: + Show Spoiler + Game 2: + Show Spoiler + Game 3: + Show Spoiler + Game 4: + Show Spoiler + Game 5: + Show Spoiler +http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFZP17-x0Ts]
Replays to the games as requested by some: + Show Spoiler +
Enjoy

I definetly agree. But TTone is also awesome

Yeah I had alot of fun casting with Deviation..... YOU should subscribe And Watch from more gosu commentaries in the future.
|
Hmm i think this should be in SC2 general forum, can any admin switch it to that section?

A good series (to watch).
+ Show Spoiler +It's kind of odd that even at high levels, 4gate play is still extremely prominent. Perhaps after pvp develops further, we will see more longer games. In the 5th game I think TT1 was too busy microing his units to make units out of his gateways. His warpgate was slower by about 15 seconds, and he had 450/400 when he warped in his first 3 stalkers. He could have definietely noticed huk was chronoboosting his cyber and made a round of zealot zealot sentry.
EDIT:
Maybe next time. 4 gate is lame
|
This was played 3 days prior to patch 1.1 hitting, maybe the zealot warp gate cooldown will tone the 4 warp gating
|
LOL! did u like the videos though?

can you upload replays... no offense but i have slow connection and cannot watch the vods.

I tried to bring a little bit of diversity to the intros since the visual was the same (took me a little while to make the intro and didnt want to make a new one for every game).
I'm glad you enjoyed the tracks as I know not all people have my particular taste in music

Thanks for the input. I know were not perfect, it was our first time after all. After awhile I'm sure we'll be good. At least I hope lol.

Thanks a lot I enjoyed the VODS a lot.
But what is this talk about 'first one who expands in pvp loses'. I don't understand the logic of that. Sure if you get attacked by a nice timing push and you fail to defend you lose but...
A tip: please show more of the builds the players are going for. You do this well early game but mid and late game you seem to forget.
|
Really good games. You guys keep referring to the players food as macro though. It sounds silly to me. D:
|
Nice games Thanks for the VODs.
|
Yeah pretty sweet. Put keep production tab, or at least some tab up for most of the time imo ^^
|
Thanks for the input and constructive criticism guys.
Next time around i wilk work on improving the following points: - Will try to operate the camera better and notice things before they happen, like the proxy pylon or dark shrine+DTs in base - Will try to show more of the builds and switches the players go for especially mid and late game. It is true that the production tab is a nice way to do this. - Get assassin to mention the correct terms during casts. It is the army tab not the macro tab. It is the income tab not the intome cab. Loool (sorry assassin i had to)
Regarding the PvP "who expands first loses" deal, thats my opinion. Most of the time in ladder matches players go for 4gate pushes. If both players do that they both get around 50 supply. At 50 one player chooses to expand while the other attacks, the attacking player will win because he will have a bigger army. The same is true if another player techs early, he will get owned by 4 gate as we saw in game 4. Just my opinion that if one player goes 4 gate and the other doesn't, its gg for the non 4 warpgating player.

I can't download the replay pack, anyone else havin this problem?

If you aren't familiar with that website, you need to follow the link, put in the security characters in the field at the top right of the page, wait 45 seconds and then press the "Regular Download" button to be able to download the .rar file. I just tried it to confirm that it works and that there was no problems with it.
You can awlays download all the replays individually by clicking on their respective links.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for clarifying that stuff about expanding. I am a terrible player (platinum) so I wanted to know why. Keep us updated when you'll cast more stuff! : )

I would like to thank everyone who helped put time into this tournament to make it a success. Special thanks to the gamers who took time to show up and produce great games.

Nice commentating, awesome work guys.
Congratz to the first and second place players. I don't think it could of been more intense than HuK vs TT1
