GomTV has chosen not to broadcast this event outside of Korea. I have taken the liberty to re-broadcast these games for you guys to enjoy. I will not, however, be saving / distributing any VODs. If anyone at GomTV has an issue with this, please let me know and I will take the stream down.
GomTV / GSL Coverage Please visit GomTV.net for exclusive coverage of the GSL. For HQ streams & VODs of the GSL, purchase their season pass.
My Opinion on International Streaming I of course am just speculating but I would imagine some 95%+ of their revenue is generated from Korean sponsors. I'd imagine GomTV is taking losses on anything they do outside of Korea (such as GSL free streams). Since pro gaming isn't as big outside of Korea, there is not nearly the sponsorship money available, making it quite difficult for them to monetize. GomTV & other organizations have millions of dollars and hundreds of people invested. If they could turn a profit outside of Korea (and subsequently stream worldwide), don't you think they'd be doing it?
If you blame anyone, blame the foreign markets (yourselves) for not backing pro gaming as the fans do here in Korea. I'm sure the day will come when gaming in the west is as big as in Korea, but right now it's not. Money talks. GomTV listens.
Added Extras Between Matches I assume a lot of people watching know little to none about life here so I'm hoping to use this opportunity to share a bit about the culture & lifestyle here. Between games, I am going to show some pictures / videos that depict life as I'm experiencing it in Korea. A lot of attention goes towards the games themselves, but Korean culture carries a certain mystique that leaves a lot of the world with an unsatisfied curiosity. I hope that I'm able to answer some of your questions and share some of the Korean experience with you guys & gals.+ Show Spoiler +
Note: I will not be re-streaming any more games from this tournament so if someone else in RoK wants to take care of it, go for it.
After that speech the chick did at the GSL2 Grand Final, saying how esports is an international event and couldn't be what it is without the support of the international community.....
Yes, because they made a business decision for a small event they are being hypocritical. They probably know there are restreams anyway and perhaps they're waiting until they can ensure a lag-free experience streaming to other countries.

GomTV failed?
How about they don't stream the games at all, even in korea?
They probably had good reason to, ie too much bandwidth for a event other than the actual GSL. They also probably knew the people would stream it to everywhere else. So saying they failed because they didn't directly satisfy you is kind of stupid.

Their business decisions are crap. They already have the infrastructure to broadcast internationally, and have been doing it for months. Also they seem to hate restreams which were banned even while their own stream was (and still is) shit. (We do/did it anyway!)
Their other business decisions include charging us for viewing the games. Even old games.......

Yes probably not an economically wise decision to broadcast these to the west. That's why I don't think they'll mind me letting LiveStream foot the bill and re-stream these.
GOM decided to save some bandwidth costs on a small tournament that they didn't think they could monetize. Big deal. At least they didn't shut down the restreams. Such a sense of entitlement for some people.
I want to see an impressive game from Inca, even if he loses. So far, the only things I saw him is good PvP, but nothing impressive in other match ups. I think MakaPrime is nothing special, in fact, he wouldn't be even in my top 10 Terrans right now, so I expect something Inca. Pleaaase!
Boxer is good. SangHo might have a hard time. Again, even if he loses, I want some exciting game. But I think SangHo has a chance.
Boxer vs Sangho should be an interesting game. We haven't really seen Boxer play against any good Protoss so far, most of his games in the last GSL were mirrors.
And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Kyrix vs Ensnare a rematch from GSL2?
Don't be so hard on GOM TV, they streamed the team invitational and it probably ate up too much bandwidth for their liking, considering they don't have any international sponsors for it. They are certainly aware of this restream and they choose to allow it for the fans, so I support their decision.
These games are also available through PPStream somehow, but I can't read chinese.
I understand the disappointment from users outside of Korea for the lack of streams, but you should try to understand GOM's position. Gretech is a business, and the bottom line means more to it than streaming for the sake of pleasing fans overseas. Like the OP said, if it were profitable to do so, why wouldn't they try to stream as much as they can?
Money doesn't just magically appear out of thin air, and considering the company has been experiencing a net loss for every fiscal year since inception, I don't think they'd be very willing to take on even more losses. (Granted.. the company is still very young and I'm not sure how much of a percent of sales is generated from the SC business.. I assume it's not very big at this point.. there are also many more factors that may come into play.. but bottom line is.. right now they aren't even making a gross profit).

i was wondering, how do you watch the stream on the gom player? when the page that has the "play" button loads, there's this new popup that says something in korean, and it continues to happen. I'm watching the restream right now, but does anyone know why that's happening?

bad decision by itr to pull back during his first poke imo. i mean he pulled those scvs, might as well try to make the best of it, kill some drones/queens,etc right?

TheWind only had like 5 roaches ... Rainbow could have easily won that. Very weird decision by him indeed.
Wow, doesn't ITR realize all-in means all-in? If you're going to pull that many SCVs, it's almost impossible to come back if you don't a ton of damage. He hesitated too much and had his troops chilling outside the zerg base for a while.
they seem to both be sandbagging it a bit, esp itr. Seems odd since money is up for grabs, maybe with gsl so close you just don't wanna show any builds or something who knows.

well to be fair, his play in the GSLs tend to be macro games instead of poorly executed allins.
True.. even then though he have odd plays. LIke being passive against Zergs allowing them to macro, or trying to Banshees consecutively against Foxer despite failing the first game or so.

This match was anything but a showmatch. Rainbow played like the worst cheeser ever on Jungle Basin. He goes all in, then retreats for no reason.
I don't get why itr tried to allin, and if he oes it, why he didn't attack when he had a massive force (I think he could have done big damage, perhaps i'm wrong)

That's what frustrates me. So Tester plays risky, and can lose to anybody. And what are the other top Protoss? Inca fails to impress yet again. Hopefully, he picks up his game.

Indeed. Huge investment on DTs+warp prism gone waste. Without doing any damage.
Inca is a total fail, and he is supposed to be one of the top protosses. DTs die, HTs die without doing anything. Tell me this guy is better than Tester.

That was awful... Inca said in his head... WHATEVER run in and hope for the best. Ghosts dint even have cloak. At least send an obs and feedback or don't attack into superior concave.
if those were banshees, you could fly away and use them as part of your main army. An added bonus is faking cloak to force more detection then necessary.
burrowed roaches arent as big an investment so if they fail you still have options as well as roaches to bolster the army. an added bonus is that until you actually burrow with them, the opponent cannot scout the tunnelling claws without analyzing your gas investments.
When DT's fail the game ends for protoss. easily scoutable and counterable.
Nice timing push by InCa. I would've waited for the thermal lance upgrade and one more colossus, but those force fields splitting up Maka's army did the job.
Nice EMPs by Maka. It also didn't help that InCa had his army in the narrow area, which prevents any kinds of spreading. Seriously, every Terran has to incorporate ghosts into their army.
That colossi control gave a headache. I feel like I will throw up.
MakaPrime is far from the best terran in the world, it's a legit question if he is in top 20. But one of the better known protosses looked pretty bad against him.
May be Inca is just overrated? Like, he isn't even the best Toss in oGs anymore, is he? oGsMC is, right?
Yeah at some point I think Inca made a mistake when he engaged Maka's army outside Maka's natural but was kind of stuck in a choke, while Maka's army was in a concave position. Really painful. but anyways, Maka is so good
I can't believe these guys would have 1000 minerals for long stretches of time and not expand and let that void ray harass him for so long without building a turret there (Maka) or not expand and build cannons at his easily harassed expansions (Inca).
Maka could've expanded easily with the minerals he had and built a turret or two while streaming marines in to shut down that one void ray early in the game. Inca could've expanded and built cannons to stop Maka from harassing his expansions with just one dropship worth of units for long stretches of the game.

That was the income tab, that was them having 1000+ minerals of income per minute not what they had at that point in time.

I disagree. I feel Maka has always been TOP 5 Terran since beta. I also like the way he looks in real life haha, looks baller. oGsMC is the best in the entire oGs clan. Though he says Zenio is catching up.

True story. Just I was never a fan. Maka never impressed me.
I would say Boxer, Nada, ITR, Foxer and MVP are clearly above. Then there is a group of 5-10 terrans who are about the same level. The group is quite large, including Ensnare, Clide, Top, Loner among others.

So maka steam rolls an oGs member; meant to be a hero protoss (steamrolled may be exaggeration), makes s-class with some pretty solid performances at all GSL's and people still saying he's not a force to be reckoned .. Strange

Good post mate, the other day i thought i'd check out some STC games cause i hadn't watched any of his games in ages. Before the first GSL i thought he was clearly the best Terran in the world, the guy is a boss, i wish we could have seen him playing in these GSLs.
While you guys discuss about how good MakaPrime is I image white-ra at the GSL , he eliminated makaprime while winning one match against NEXgenius on the blizzcon, if you think about it Makaprime is one of the top 5 terran players worldwide and Nexgenius is a top 5 protoss, whitera performance on the Blizzcon was out of this world and I just don't see people mentioning it.

i appreciate you taking the time to re-stream and even creating/updating this thread for links and results. however, i don't think it's fair to post this comment on TL.net forums of all places. i think its safe to say the majority of people who bought GSL SC2 season tickets from the foreign/international site are TL.net followers. there's not much more we can do as fans. i blame GOMtv for not taking the risk to offer this series to the gomtv.net international market. they could've given access to these streams and VODs for people who pre-purchase Season 3 tickets, or even attempted to charge a small fee ($5?). it isn't our fault the option wasn't presented to us to help make esports grow in our market. it would be completely different if gomtv.net at least put up a questionnaire beforehand to gauge interest from the international market, and if the numbers were too low to offer an international stream then it would be our fault.
as im typing this you're keeping your mic on intentionally and actively trying to drive viewers away. and you say WE'RE to blame?

Pretty solid games from Kyrix, I'm really starting to like him the more I see him play.
I think he's a real "player's player" in that we can see he's obviously not perfect, he occasionally suffers from the same micro mistakes and poor decision making that plague us all. But at the same time, he's just so damn good and so aggressive that watching him play is always entertaining. Also, I love the way he defends like a boss against any kind of early pressure. In my opinion that last game was not "well played" by boxer but poor decision making by SangHo. There really isn't a safe build a protoss can use against terran that does not involve a robo and for a protoss of SangHo's skill, he should know that. At least InCa beat it in his game against Maka

Many girls in Korea skip school or tutoring and such to watch sc matches live, so they cover their faces so they won't be recognized if their parents or someone they know is watching.

It's easy to tell the guys who never watched BW =P
Also, BOXER FTWWWWWWWW
I know this tournament doesn't really matter but still feels so good to see him come back after losing the first game in that fashion.
Edit: OMG the matches for tomorrow are even more insane...Foxer vs Fruit (!), Genius vs Tester (!!!), oGsTheWind vs Maka and Kyrix vs Boxer...wow
I'm still very curious about this. Every time a girl is shown on camera, she puts paper in front of her face. What's up with this, and why are people so embarrassed to be in the crowd?

i appreciate you taking the time to re-stream and even creating/updating this thread for links and results. however, i don't think it's fair to post this comment on TL.net forums of all places. i think its safe to say the majority of people who bought GSL SC2 season tickets from the foreign/international site are TL.net followers. there's not much more we can do as fans. i blame GOMtv for not taking the risk to offer this series to the gomtv.net international market. they could've given access to these streams and VODs for people who pre-purchase Season 3 tickets, or even attempted to charge a small fee ($5?). it isn't our fault the option wasn't presented to us to help make esports grow in our market. it would be completely different if gomtv.net at least put up a questionnaire beforehand to gauge interest from the international market, and if the numbers were too low to offer an international stream then it would be our fault.
as im typing this you're keeping your mic on intentionally and actively trying to drive viewers away. and you say WE'RE to blame?
Guys, guys. Plz don't be so harsh to Gom, they just try their best.
Actually, this all-star invitation tournament is not the event of Gom. This is a part of Korean game market exhibition in Pusan (the biggest habor city of south of Korea) and Gom is the only possible choice for broadcasting it nationalwide.
I still hope Gom might suggest it as a worldwide broadcast to them - authorities, but I believe the authorities of that exhibition do not want their big event just be over shadowed this all-star show.

O right, just checked the players again, so it's going to be 3 TvZ and 1 PvP, really really dark age for P .. *sigh.
Well, hopefully that whoever won between Tester and Genius, they can go up to the final. On the other hand I would really love to have Boxer vs Boxer in the final :D

You aren't from BW are you. Non-korean fans went to extreme length to follow the korean scene through the language barriers and for years displayed interest in Korean pro team merchandise. The problem is Korean companies failing to recognize an international market.

Dont mind about the idiots in the chat, jerks are everywhere (expect the TL-Forums, cause the mods do a good job to extinct them!)
I am looking forward on more coverage from you!
Thank you again
You're very welcome.
Also the Korean girls cover their faces to be modest and also because they're a bit shy. It's the same reason they all cover their faces when they laugh and do not drink / eat / smoke in public.

Are you seriously forgetting Genius' series against ITR in GSL2?
nope, but genious didnt do bullshit builds like mass phoenix in these games, itr just timing pushed VERY well against tzhe colossi build (standard build)
This is funny. So you want all Protoss keep doing standard builds? And how many of those standard builds are there? What, only 2-3?
Mass phoenix is far from BS. It's a great strategy, just Sang-Ho suicided his mass phoenixes and also didn't get enough stalkers. Couldn't protect phoenixes at all.
I am angry that it's so much harder to get DTs for a protoss now, yet Terran got a flying DT. You cannot be serious. That last game was a BS. Nonetheless, Sang-Ho knew that it is a possibility, should have prepared.
PS It's strange that you praise Genius. Against ITR, he was doing voidrays, if you don't remember. Now, that's risky.

Any game without a fast robo v Terran is pretty much a coin flip. Blizzard really screwed up when they designed Protoss.

Banshees don't have equivalent in BW, I think. Protoss could build DTs in BW, but Zerg always had overlords, unless they are all killed by Bisu's air army. So while DTs were dangerous, not many players, except for Bisu and a few more, could end a game so early on in 6-8 minute mark against a Zerg just using DT build.
As for Terran, they have a scan, and they can also see it, if they want. Protoss doesn't have similar detection, so you cannot just defend vs banshees unless you go one tech path. Terrible.
I guess Blizzard nerfed DTs because they could may be attack Zerg easier now, since overlords cannot detect any more. But then, it doesn't make sense that banshees are invisible.

yea true i forgot that :/, well i guess the colossi/phoenix build is good when terran fast expanded und u expanded a bit later (so u have a disadvantage economywise) with standard stalker/colossi u get pretty much steamrolled then if the terran does a timing attack with rauder+1ghost+vikings.
and megafast colossi/Phoenix is good against the following 2 allins: a) raven, banshee, marine rauder b) 2 starport banshee rines
guess thats why tester and sangho play this very risky style. man, pvt is such a crap wheres the freaking patch! :D
i just hope the winner of genius vs tester wins the fucking tournament. Im a Fan of both of these guys. Go Protoss Go!!!!
watched some of the VODs on sc2rep I initially found the guy really annoying, but his commentary is pretty entertaining actually During Boxer's games, he spent about a minute just talking about Boxer's fiance: "Jessica" (lol)
Kyrix is such an entertaining player. Hope he gets far here and in GSL3!
So is anyone planning on streaming the next set of games? Or is there going to be no thread until five minutes after they start and three pages of people asking where the stream is?

If Banshee doesn't have cloak, then it would be quite useless as a harass unit in almost every match up.
In TvP and TvT, without cloak, banshee can easily be thwarted by a couple of stalkers, or a group of marine, which are core unit of T and P. It could only be a little bit more useful in TvZ but a group of queens would still defend against them quite easily.
I think the concept of banshee is quite like DT; if you don't scout or prepared for them, you are going to have a very hard time. The concept of the units (DT and Banshee) is to make you wary about whether you should get detection up or not. It's basically the same in every match up (well maybe except ZvZ).
There are games tonight but the guy that streamed the last two days said he won't be streaming tonight. So unless someone that can access the korean Gom stream steps up and restreams it we will be waiting for VoDs.
gonna try to find a stream tomorrow morning atleast (the last game starts at 9 am in Sweden). Got around $10 on Kyrix against SlayerSBoxer...odds are 2.1 v 1.65 Now I'm going to bed to get up early...
Sigh I can't believe gomtv is running such a good tournament and making it so difficult to see it! This tourney could be just as popular as the real GSL and they're just treating it like it's nothing...
