Hey Everybody! This is HD, and I'm making this thread to announce my upcoming 16 player invitational tournament: The HD World Tournament. This tournament will feature some of the best players in the world, and all games will be uploaded and featured via my Youtube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/HDstarcraft
Players are allowed to thumbs down one map in advance. Loser picks next map. All games are best of 3, except semis/3rd place which are best of 5, and finals which are best of 7
Crossfire* GSL version Terminus* GSL Version Crevasse* GSL Version Tal'Darim Altar* GSL Version Shattered Temple Iccup Testbug Shakuras Plateau
Round of 16 begins on Tal'Darim Altar
The Tournament is scheduled to start within the next week, and is expected to conclude by the end of March. (Expected to last about a week) As most of you guys know, HDH2 was put on indefinite hold due to legality and other issues, so I decided to go ahead and organize a smaller tournament. Obviously the list of invited players is not yet completed, so if any accomplished/high profile players are interested in participating in this tournament, please reply to this post!
Prize pool seems a bit low for this (just my opinion, since both sponsors are pretty big in the gaming industry).
Also, is there any additional information? I assume the matches will be streamed on justin.tv, but all you mention in the op is your Youtube channel. Also, any info on map pool or tournament format?
I feel there should be a bit more information if it's going to start within a week ~_~

The map pool has been added. As far as broadcasts go, all games will be going up via youtube. I am still determining whether or not I can do Justin TV for the semis/finals (working on some hardware)

Wow on second thought, what a stupid nonsense post by me. I'm not sure why I even wrote that, it's a fairly solid list and apparently I failed to read the op properly. :/ That was totally just the swedish fanboy in me speaking.
Very excited for this tournament. Thanks for organizing and putting this on HD. The map pool is top notch, great choices, I'm expecting great and awesome games from the invited players. Have you thought about inviting Tyler/Nony, Jinro, Moonglade, and Artosis (he said he's starting to play competitively again)? I know they were in HDH, so it would cool to see them play together again. Oh, I would like to see Huk and Haypro, too .
People are glossing over the fact that IGN is a highly trafficked site, so it is cool that they are taking interest in SC2 and are willing to jump in to sponsor tournaments and such.
Who knows maybe if this pays off they will consider other SC2 sponsorships.

I'm thinking that if this first tournament by HD is successful in terms of viewer count, then HD will be able to put on more and bigger tournaments. HD will have a track record with IGN and Justin tv, so they will feel more comfortable giving more money.
I'd love to see KawaiiRice in this. Seeing as he was viciously taken out inches away from getting into the TSL, I think he would be a great addition to this tournament :D. Having a couple more Protosses as well would be great to make an even race distribution (save for TLO [R] D: ).

Have you thought of doing a caster-only tournament. It could be a ton of fun and get so many views!!
Think about all the awesome casters and matches we could see.. artosis, tasteless, HD, husky , day9, wheat, psy, chill, kelly, gretorp, incontrol... the list goes on and on. Potential through the roof for awesome games~!
Very impressive list, just a question about the confirmations. Are the players listed just becoming aware of this tournament with your invites? Or have they been told its been in the works etc? Just not sure to look at this as a wishlist or just finalizing everyones attendance.
Also, if you can invite any of the top Korean players (esp. MvP, Nestea, Fruitdealer, MarineKing, Boxer, Nada, Losira (seriously underrated) or oGsMC) that would move this tournament from awesome to epic.
would've honestly expected a bigger prizepool but there's no reason to complain. hope you get the livestreaming going, otherwise it will be way less exciting. painuser casting is always a treat as well
sounds fantastic dude 1k prize pool is great. ign also gets lots of traffic so if they advertise the tournie on their homepage u could draw huge numbers

He just applied for NASL and it would be fun to see him play again now that he says he is focused on practicing.
I concur.
+Artosis +Day[9]
And are we adding Koreans too, or are we too scared?
Invite them too! Are you considering expanding this to a Round of 32, HD?
Artosis for sure! I don't think Day enjoys competing anymore, but I'm fairly sure Artosis still has some of that competitive fire left.
I understand the lack of Koreans though. tough to organize if you don't always have a translator on hand, and the Koreans understandably dislike the NA server lag.
One guy that doesn't need a translator and is always willing to play on NA though is SlayerS_Cella. He's always going to give you a good show too.
I first started following the Starcraft 2 esports scene after watching HDH invitational. I was particularly impressed by HD's commenting and thus have been following him since. I hope this tournament does as well/even better than HDH invitational in creating awareness to the masses regarding the Starcraft 2 esports scene.
All the best and you can bet I'll be tuning in to the matches.
On March 16 2011 04:13 JustPassingBy wrote: Btw. what are those legallity issues HD mentioned?
There were some rumours that they had some problems getting the tournament approved by blizzard. Why, or if it's even true, I have no idea about. Could be sponsors or something, but we will never know until HD or Husky give an more detailed explanation which they don't seem to be interested in doing atm.

Nice flamebait bro.
On topic: Really awesome to see all these top players together in one tournament. I have one question though, the games will go straight to youtube, no live replay cast or anything?
edit: Also, this :

Wow, I was really going to get hyped about this, remembering the old HDH invitational, but then I saw the player pool. :o Guess it's clear that it's an invite and it's clear that HD made the invites, huh?
Well, if TLO plays random, I might watch it anyways, and of course because of HD's casting. Plus, I'm eager to know, how much training in Korea is worth. :-)
On March 17 2011 03:10 gaston116 wrote: This tournament will be a joke without any Swedish players, it would be like having a basketball tournament and not inviting black people.
This is kinda true but jinro is there, but ye sweden, ukraine and germany are by far the biggest sc2 countrys bar korea, and sweden more than likely holds the number 1 spot of those 3 with Naniwa, sjow, morrow all being top 1-2 of their respective race in europe with the other top 1-2 coming from ukraine in kas, white-ra and dimaga imo.
Its a heavily US-based tournament which is perfectly fine except its called HD World tournament
On March 17 2011 03:10 gaston116 wrote: This tournament will be a joke without any Swedish players, it would be like having a basketball tournament and not inviting black people.
Well jinro is invited and it looks like you can contact HD if your interested in participating. There is a lot of tournaments going on aswell so you can't expect them to be in every single one of them
Anyway sick line-up of players, I'm looking forward to this!
Where are the Europeans oO? Only Dimaga and White-Ra :C (TLO isn't a european top player right now i think, he hadnt won like anything and lost in all german leagues (eps and the ligapokal).
Missing players like Morrow, Socke, Hasuobs, NaNiwa Strelok Goody Kas Sase Cloud and so on (which i think are better then most of the americans who are being invited) And where are the kanadians like KiwiKaki and Huk oO
Nice tournament, but I'm not very hyped about it since it isn't casted live. I'll probably check the matches on your youtube channel when I have the time, but it won't be different than downloading replays from sc2rep.com ... you should learn from Khaldor and many others who cast the games live.
On March 17 2011 03:10 gaston116 wrote: This tournament will be a joke without any Swedish players, it would be like having a basketball tournament and not inviting black people.
Lol you are hilarious.. Thinking no Swedish players makes this tournament a joke; just wow - what a ridiculous statement. Look at the player list; LOOK AT IT! The talent there is incredible - ignore geography and focus on talent ..

Total biscuit or Day9 as cocasters? Some Korean players? This isn't really a WORLD tournament without them. And no, Idra and Select are not counted as Korean players (well Select is Korean but he has only shown good games in US and nothing in Korea).
Who cares whether the name says World Tournament instead of just tournament. Seriously... some people.... Looks like HD is putting in a lot of work to put up a very good tournament for us to watch, lets not just have random problems with it and enjoy it. Nobody is going to claim to be world champion if they win this, lol.

Really? Complaining? Some nerds always find reasons not to be happy. HD is a great caster, Painuser is a top player and will be great analyzer. World tournament doesn't mean that we have to have every player from every country ... As long as we have international pool, it WILL be World tournament.
Well that is no doubt a solid line up of players, but 16 will always leave people wishing more people were in it (I'm not saying 16 is a bad idea tho). Looking forward to the event!
HD...next tourney you should expand to 32 to get more players.
Did anybody create a map with an explodable artifact like you requested in your last video? Think it would be cool if there was like a nuclear reactor that when destroyed turned into a nuclear explosion...or created background radiation in a radios that did constant but small amount damage.
Definitely like the idea of being creative with future maps as the pro's play the standard ones (and even the GSL ones in practice) so much it kinds of takes the creativity out of them. Would love to see a huge island/air map myself...also would be neat to see neutral...but hostile creatures guarding certain areas like expansions (much more interesting than rocks). Especially flying neutrals guarding a nest site between close air positions...could be interesting.
Also if you do your own maps you can actually even create your own units and even make your own balance changes... Saw one map where they brought back the planet cracker which was so cool...if that was like a 1000/1000 upgrade that would be fun to see. Custom maps are featuring things like the void seeker ships, stone golems (the big slow guys from the campaign), shield battery, and more...so lots of potential HD if you want to go with your own maps.
Hd sorry if this is nosy but ive been wondering for a while: what happened to the HDH? It was just kinda abandoned and neither of u have said a word about it
You guys should change 'Nony' to 'Tyler', he doesn't go by Nony anymore and newer members in the community might not be familiar with that name. Also consider adding clan tags on the names . This tournament looks sick, hope HDH2 comes sometime before the expansion!

It's said right in the OP that it is on indefinite hold due to legal issues and other stuff they can't talk about.

I bet it was a number that has some sort of relationship to the players. For example...
1 - The number of weekends PainUser has been sober for the last 2 years 7 - The length in inches of Socke's hair....from the ground. 6 - DIMAGA's ideal drone count.
On March 23 2011 10:18 Clicker wrote: how were seeds decided?
I think it's in the order that they RSVP'd in. so the first person gets the first seed, second the second, etc. or he just randomized them and the numbers really mean nothing
I don't like the idea of a battle for third place. Just give third and forth places the same prize. This is not a gold, silver, and bronze thing. Both third and fourth places are losers to the first and second. So, I wouldn't want to watch them play again.
anyway, can't wait for the tournament to begin. Am I the only one who doesn't know the date or is it already announced? I know it's "within next week".
Nice to see Select vs Tyler rematch. Idra vs Socke AGAIN holy hell man it's like they are magnetically attracted the past week. Same group in NASL and same group in MLG. They can't get away from each other!
I reckon a double elimination with even prizes between top 2 and even prizes between the next 2 would be much better. Allows the "2nd best" player to play in the finals.
I'd love to see your ZvZ FPVoDs again HD, really helped me overall especially with the commentary, similar to PsY's videos. Would be nice again.

..some people are never content...and all of those people happen to have a TL account, apparently.
This is a studly lineup, and anyone doubting that doesn't understand this game at all. There's 10 of these guys that would easily round out a normal IEM lineup, or surpass the strength of a DreamHack. I'm really excited to see these games, though the seeding seems random (drawn from a hat/order of applying for entry?)

Get off your high horse. You don't know how big the sponsorship is, sorry the player pool doesn't impress you Your Majesty. I think this tournament has some great names considering that it isn't huge, and it should be good entertainment. Stop complaining and enjoy it for what it is.
Whitera is going to Korea tomorrow. I wonder if the games have already been played. Would hamper his chances if he would play from Korea if he even have time to do it.
looking forward to this one, good luck TLO, bring it back to Europe :p, how can painuser cast if he is lined up as a player? surely there is something wrong there??

He probably wont play in ever series so, plus I think its being casted via replays.
Cool tournament. Personally not a fan of HD's casts. His style is not entertaining to me so Ill probably look for recommended games and just view the results.

You wouldn't watch amazing games because you're "not a fan" of one of the commentators?
Needs more mOOnGLaDe. He is a ridiculous Zerg player. Some of the top play I've seen. He's like Idra when it comes to economy but better with micro because of his WC3 background. He's good all around.
Here are my predictions for round 2.
LGPainuser vs TLO DuckLoadRA(WhiteRa) vs Select Catz vs EGIdra EGInControl vs Dimaga

I guess it depends if Whitera, Dimaga and Sen have already played their games. Otherwise we'll be stuck on the first round for a while until they have finished i Korea.
^^Apparently they have started some of the games though.
On another note I think it's safe to say that the vods for the three players I mentioned above will garner a bit more viewers than if the tournament had been finished before the WC.
Yo HD, are you going to be updating the OP when games go up on your youtube? It would be a little bit rude not to after using TL to announce the tournie I subscribe to your channel but don't check youtube anywhere near as often as TL...
Anyway, I'm looking forward to these games, should be good.

Weirdest strat I've seen in a while, he could have finished it off with force fields and whatnot ages ago, but instead goes mass DTs and not a single sentry :S
I think it would be better to follow if you upload one complete (or more) series at the same time. And I hope the OP will be updated with the links to the games.
same thing happens, zelniq is like 1000/1000 for most of the mid-game and not even close to maxing out. zelniq's play is usually very solid, i wonder what happened for this series?

I can understand it on one level, it seemed like he wanted to pool money and not commit to any specific unit combination until he was sure what InControl was doing, but late-mid game he didn't quite have the larva to spend everything...hmmm. But you are right, these games don't do Zelniq any justice, he is much better than this
I don't think InControl's play here is all that much better. Floats over 1k and gets supply blocked a couple times while having to deal with no pressure at all. Plus the final battle win wasn't really all that convincing. Especially sad considering he shut down the FE twice and wasn't pressured all game and was up against what amounted to pure roach.
Cmon Zelniq, I know you're a way better player than that! Grats to Incontrol for making it through but I hope he smoothens out his play especially since he'll be playing either Dimaga or QXC next; those 2 ain't gonna fuck around dude. Be on your A game and show some good matches.
In regards to the tournament in general, I'm pretty stoked about Sen vs Whitera. I think it's their first time facing off in a tournamnet since the Root Warzone matches.

Not sure if you are watching the same games, but the games were he won, he won them pretty darn convincingly. It looked like he was fucking around on the Tal'Darmin alter game and just went mass DT because he was soo far ahead. Imagine if he went regular Colossus or just more Stalkers, that would have been a steam roll

I dont think so. Mondragon doesnt seem to be that active everywhere. I mean everybody didnt even know if he is in shape or not. So I doubt that we had recently that exact matchup somewhere else.
Maybe they played already and Cruncher talked to someone about it or he somehow saw the match history or what else is possible (because the replays are that what is getting casted).
I must say that it sucks for me because that was one of the matches I was looking forward to.

You can't see the results from the match-history, they have modified the maps to hide that (I've checked). And I'm not sure what you mean with the first part. I was suggesting Moletrap just misspoke about Mondragen since Cruncher have beaten several other top pros recently. Maybe he meant Check, ogsInca, Idra or MKP. The only other alternative is that either Cruncher or Mondragon have leaked the results in some way.

This tournament will feature some of the best players in the world, and all games will be uploaded and featured via my Youtube Channel:
I just scanned through the OP because I assumed the games would be live casted either through replays or actually live. I assume a lot of other people make this assumption as well.
Hi guys - i assume the point of this tournament for HD is to get people at his channel to watch, but if for whatever reason you cannot reach youtube; VODs will be updated on TLPD under the HD World Tournament if people would prefer them posted in this thread that can be arranged, i just don't want to do wrong by HD
Wow! Great setup HD! Really hope to see some more results of the tournament! The game between PainUser and Cruncher was pretty good! Keep up the good casting!
I have made a site for the tournament. This is not an official site or anything, but I just made it so that people could see anti-spoiled games. Its pretty basic but I hope you enjoy it. I also hope that its okay by HD that I have made this site. Major sponsors of the tournament should have been added.
Man super dissapointed in the latest games on the HD cast(idra vs socke), has anyone noticed the quality of his casting has gone way way downhill from a couple of months ago. I swear he doesnt know squat about the meta game anymore he sees a 3 gate expand goes ooooh hes going for 4 gate (even though the expansion is already going up) then socke drops down a stargate and he goes OOOH i think hes going for a 6 gate, he clicks on the stargate 3 times and doesnt notice its a stargate until its actually, done. It honestly feels like hes trying to cater to 15 year olds these days, he says "balls out bonkers" at least 10 times a cast wich is starting to get really annoying and his lack of knowledge about the trends in the current meta game are dissapointing,
At first i tried to ignore it but with this latest game idra vs socke its just really bad, he also hasnt posted game 1 yet he posted game 2 as game 1 and gave a spoiler to gaame 1 in the first few seconds, then he game 2 as game 2 as well, so there is no game 1 and he spoiler'd it in the first few seconds =/, I really hope he steps it up and tries to be a bit more serious for the IGN pro league super dissapointed in his casts recently, he used to be my favourite youtube caster after day 9.
Very disappointing effort from HD so far I must say, Doesn't seem to know anything about the current strategies and non stop says something completely false. Finally started posting spoiler free 3rd games now so I guess it's getting better, even though all other casters started doing that a long time ago.
Any Photoshop-wizzes out there that can help me with a HD World Tournament banner for my site zzyzx.nu/HD-WorldTournament? I need a banner for the head of the page, preferably with HD World Tournament as text, with a darkish background. The height should be 200px or less, and the width either pretty small(like around 200px), or no more than 1024px.. If anyone is able to help pls drop me an e-mail at: qzzyzxq (at) gmail (dot) com.
I like HD, and the effort that he makes. Whatever you want to say about him, he and husky were responsible for introducing SC 2 vods and such to a whole bunch of people during the beta.
Having said that, HD you casting could improve. The knowledge sometimes isn't there, and it would be fine if it were merely not noticing things, but when you mention something that is in glaring contravention of what is happening, it is very jarring for the player. I know when I watch some of the games I was mentally going "but... the expansion is right there! notice it!"
And as for the banter, I think at times its too forced. Some of the jokes fall cold and they can be awkward. Game knowledge just comes with reading and playing more sc2, but i'm not sure what to say about the banter. Maybe just try to be more natural in your jokes.
I think right now you could decide to adopt one style more - either be more analytical or be funny, and not try to do both at the same time. That way once you figure on style out you can experiment with the other.

The vid was uploaded April 3rd so those particular TSL games were played way back then? I really hope moletrap was mistaken otherwise that is really disappointing.
So Moletrap was right, the video contained a massive spoiler to a TSL game that was due to be cast two weeks later and HD still uploads it and makes it public? Not even editing or bleeping out the spoiler?
Probably one of the biggest flops in SC2 so far. HD has pretty much no clue whats going on in this game anymore: he was so surprised by the very common 2-gate robo by Tyler...

Ive updated my page with the latest games from this tournament. Still SPOILER FREE(although probably spoled by the bracketpost just above this=)). Buuuuut If you have missed a match, or if you just want one place to watch all the games, please visit zzyzx.nu/HD-WorldTournament/. Ive also added all the maps of the tournament(with pictures).
ALL games for ro8 is up? Finally i can start watching this round. Tyler vs sen series remind me of july vs cruncher match of yesterday in NASL. I wonder if Tyler is serious about playing in tournaments.
I've got to say.. I just saw the Nony vs Sen game and at the end HD is talking about Strelock who is in the semifinals... and HD isnt sure if Strelock is terran or protoss
I can sort of understand why many people dislike HD and Husky.. they dont really know much about the players or the game.
I remember back in the beta when they were commentating a maka.prime game vs whitera and they were calling him prime. (back then he was considered the top terran in the world..)
HD I like your enthusiasm, but wish you would try to get a better understanding of the game.

totally agree. this tournament has been somewhat mediocre in terms of production.

Remember that recent match where Day9 consistently called WhiteRa "Duckload"?
Count me in as someone else getting sorta sick of HD. For the entirety of Dimaga vs Socke he kept referencing how Socke hadn't researched Khaydarin Amulet (hmmm, I wonder why not?), totally overlooked a huge blunder by Socke, kept missing important things happening on the minimap, etc... not exactly grave sins, but it costs him a lot of credibility. At least he's a good guy and threw together a really high-quality tournament, though.
Definitely a good series to watch, featuring some really weird-but-kinda-awesome play from DiMaga. They both played soooo passively though, more than a few boring moments.

Going to have to agree with a lot in this thread - the quality of HD's casting has dropped significantly. I appreciate all the time put into these tournaments and his casting, but I feel that he is losing some of the love for SC2. He doesn't have very many games played this season, implying that he isn't too familiar with what's going on in the game. This is also shown by his massive commentating mistakes in game.. I can bring up any commentary by him and indicate more than a few flaws in logic, or just being plain wrong. It's really shined in this tournament as well, the product of his games, and the lack of organization. Misplaced banners, or sometimes not even existing, revealing the replay time - not setting busy (consistently) and getting a message while trying to commentate this seemingly professional tournament. Not using anti-spoilers for the first half of the tournament, then doing it wrong for a couple of series. (in a series of PvT, you'd see a replay thumbnail with Creep implying Zerg was in the game..)
It may be harsh critique, but don't get me wrong, I love HD. In fact, both him and Husky brought me into the game. I remember playing WC3 massively but watching their commentaries, finding myself playing less and watching more. This was during the first half of the beta, and it convinced me to buy a new computer and preorder SC2 for the beta. All I want is his production value to be back where it was in the beta - when he seemed to care more.

You sir, take words out of my mouth. I guessing he's having stuffs to deal with in real life, and hoping so, cause right now, some of the commentaries are just too painful to watch. Speaking of pain, PainUser really help him out A LOT in the commentaries, it was a good idea to co-cast with him.

Yeah, it does feel he's completely lost touch. He's had a few fumbles in the past. No problem really.
But waaaay more this time, particularly in this tournament series. Maybe he has IRL issues right now.
I really can't get behind this tournament. The vods are released so far apart from each other that I have a hard time being emotionally invested in it, it just kills the hype and makes it more of a collection of games casted by HD and put on his youtube channel than a tournament I can get hyped for. I mean the first round games were released like what....4 weeks ago? and there have only been 3 rounds actually played lol.
So yea, just my feedback and something to perhaps improve upon next time. HD I appreciate all the work youre putting into this of course, just giving my opinion as a spectator. I realize you're busy with IPL and probably have RL concerns and w/e but still, perhaps do this when you're not swamped with work? Or maybe record all the casts and release them all within the span of a week or something. I dunno, just speaking as a spectator, its really hard to get behind the tournament when all the games are so far apart and not streamed or anything (liek they were with hdh)
Ive updated my page with the latest games from this tournament. Still SPOILER FREE! zzyzx.nu/HD-WorldTournament. If you havent seen any games of the tournament yet you can watch all the games here, up untill the semis and the third place match.(Finals will be added when they come out)
Please check it out and give me feedback(thru teamliquid messaging). Im thinking of maybe doing this for other tournaments that dont have their own sites aswell..
Yeah HD isn't what he used to be I'm not really sure why...Probably because he hasnt played as much as before(and doesnt 1v1 as much?). but I'm enjoying the tournament nonethelss.
I haven't been keeping up with this tournament much so not sure if there are any games worth watching for amazingness. Is it possible to get a recommended games list?
Just started watching the first match of the semifinals... and I can already see why there is so much complaining about HD.
I mean he starts off not knowing where strelok is from (how do you not doing a little bit of background reading before casting replays...) and has no memory of the brackets in his own damn tournament.
I mean it's completely inexcusable to not do any research at all before casting games for your own tournament... so unprofessional..

Its not just some pointless hate he's getting though, its honest constructive criticism. The tournament is so sporadically updated that its impossible to actually care about it. The production also doesn't seem nearly as good as the HDH, which was probably the best beta competition. I like HD and do enjoy his casting, he really needs to step it up and put more effort behind this. It feels like starcraftarena all over again.
Very badly run tournament if you ask me and I'd say sponsors and tournament holders should think hard before asking this guy to cast their stuff. If I sponsored this tournament I would be asking for my money back.
HD has been terrible basically since after release and I wouldn't recommend him to anyone anymore.

I agree with this point. I recall HD saying that the delay between casts was because players hadn't played the games yet. Whatever the reason, with disciplined and planned organisation this could have been a non-issue. HDH was an awesome tournament to watch, perhaps because there weren't that many other tournaments happening during Beta. Nowadays we're spoilt for choice as spectators, with leagues such as GSL, NASL, IPL, MLG and tournaments such as Dreamhack and the GSL super tournament hogging the spotlight. Tournaments similar to HDWT will always seem rather lacklustre in comparison.
That being said; with some sort of fixed schedule of uploading and with casting that wasn't factually incorrect in places I feel the HDWT could have been a much better tournament. HDWT was never going to rival some of these other tournaments I mentioned, but people could have enjoyed it for what it was were it not for some of the critical shortcomings being discussed in this thread.
He was the first person I watched, and helped me get into the game. Because of this, I feel bad. I wish he just put some more effort, or if he can't, just say it. if he's busy, no one is going to be angry... if only there was a way for someone to actually tell him this.

this. i too was introduced to sc2 through HD (and later on Husky) so it's a shame that the tournament became so....meh. something that a lot of people (including me) can't stand is RADIO SILENCE. if there was just an announcement or something explaining it's getting delayed or something, then do that. most of us are (relatively) mature and understand there's life outside sc2, but don't just leave us hanging.
The finals happened to be really good imo! I feel like this HD guy could be a good commentator if he applied himself fully, the finals were entertaining and his commentary wasn't bad imo, but in a few of the earlier games he did make some rather bad mistakes, and the tournament was just kind of weird and poorly produced imo. Maybe he only intended it for his loyal YT fans, but even for a fanatic Sc2 esports viewer I forgot this tournament was on on many occasions.
Gratz strelok, didn´t think you win after the first games and my bad move to read the spoiler above :D
Must say the same that many before, came to sc2 in beta with HD and Husky and well that wasn´t as good as in the beta. But I still appreciate the work HD have put into this, the dualcasts with painuser for example were really good. And the games themselfes were fantastic.
i had no idea the tourney had even started. none of it has been broadcasted live and theres been no hype by the organizers, not even to bump this thread. i didnt notice the games on youtube because i dont sub to many casters because it spams my front page with games between people i dont care about ; /
Don't really see what the fuzz about his casting.. he doesn't seem particularly better or worse then before. He's still 10 times as knowledgeable as Husky right now but the latter doesn't get 10% of the crap HD gets for 'not being on the loop'. This is disgusting.

Select is korean.
I'm hoping to see some Swedes in there. When it comes to Starcraft I pretend to be swedish.
Whoah whoah whoah wait... I've always argued SelecT is Korean and people always said he's considered a "foreigner" because of "where he plays". Yet suddenly he's used as the "Korean" when it's pointed out there is no Korean representation in this tournament? This is ridiculous lol. Let's set this straight once and for all then. SelecT is Korean and thus does not count as being a "top foreign Terran" lol.
I'm also wondering why CatZ would be invited (he hasn't played well at all lately, as shown by the results) and not MorroW. I really hope it's because MorroW declined/schedule conflict as opposed to him being overlooked. He is a far far better Zerg and actually wins games.
I wanted Strelok to win, but I like Dimaga. This finals was so unpredictable. Lots of times I thought Strelok would lose it. Strange that Dimaga stopped using that Ling/Infestor/Ultra when it worked out for him OK the first two times. And oh man that final game... It did seem Dimaga was going to do a bust. BO countered?
Must have been tiring HD, good job running this entire tourney by yourself. Probably would have been easier to have it have been the HDH2, but obviously that didn't go through. Good job HD.
Anyone else notice that in every American vs non-American match the non-American won? :/ I´m European and sure I´m happy that Europeans are doing well but honestly the gap only seems to get bigger and bigger atm which makes it less interesting.
I hope some Americans step it up for MLG and Dreamhack to make things more interesting. MLG and Dreamhack is going to be us foreigners against the Koreans afterall and if all foreigners get rolled by the Koreans it´s BW all over again :/

Pretty sure it's been established that North America (specifically USA) is the the weakest when comparing it to the other Starcraft 2 playing continents.

You assumed wrong. The best players in NA are on even ground with the best europeans. But there are a lot more europeans in that group.

Nah, it pretty much is. Sure, the best NA players can keep face with the best EU players, but there's nowhere close to as many as them.. Also EU's ladder is harder then NA's.

I'm pretty sure that NA does pretty well and is on par with Europe. I'm pretty sure Huk got in the top 8 of MLG Dallas and I know Idra just won a major tournament. Idra is also the closest non-Korean to be on national Korean television so I think NA has plenty of great players. =)

Well, nearly all the players that play MLG are from NA so that doesn't say much ^^
And yeah as someone said, people lika Idra, Huk, Kiwikaki, Sheth or TT1 are on the highest level and can compete with European top players, but the group of European top players is way bigger.

IPL Season 1 only starred players from North America, so IdrA's major tournament win is pretty moot in that regard.
