Why is the german and russian stream listed on a different date than the english ones?
|
Because they're casting different games I suspect.
|
I wonder why America's line up is SOOOOO weak...
There are great players there and it seems most got ignored...
|
Because of caster availability.

The games have been played already; they're casted from replays, I think.

For the german/russian stream on "19-03-2011 01:00 KST", that means 7 hours from this post correct?
Also really disappointing there won't be an english cast for the first day .
But on the plus side, awesome having these games casted at all.

These times should work out well for the main audience in each region.

Are there going to be vods for this? 9am is early :|

Thumbs up for the initiative. Although sometimes FXOpen can sound too cocky through his posts, what he does and is trying to do for Esports cannot go unnoticed. And thanks!

Wow this really snuck up on me. There is just an overload of great Starcraft going on this weekend. So many tournaments, I'm having difficulty deciding which ones to choose to watch. Great problem to have!
|
Not feeling going back to Korea so soon perhaps.

Lol thanks
Guys, players had nothing to do with us. Most players in the US opted for MLG over GSL world champs as far as I can see. Also, Idra just moved back to the US I don't see why he would go insta-back to Korea.
FXOpen e-Sports is casting on behalf of GOM on the lovely services of own3d. The timing is purely because there is a time gap of events at that time. As most of you may know this weekend is pretty big for sc2.
|
omg did u guys recruit khaldor?
If yes then that is a HUGE pickup and a very very smart move. The german fanbase is a huge one and sometimes and the dude is LOVED by the english speaking community as well.
Would be wonderful if he cast the FXO GSL.
|
Yes, we love Khaldor too Hes awesome, same as the rest of the management team.
|
If Sam or anyone else from GOM is reading this, they should stick up a news post about the cast on the GOM website as well.

Will khaldor be doing any english casts? (either for this or in the future.) He definetly should since he is a baller comentator and I dont understand german!
|
Did TLO give any reason why he didn't want to participate?
|
If I am not mistaken TLO is going to MLG? I am possibly mistaken.
Khaldor, we will do some english casts with sure. But unstable and wolf have english covered right now, but we will probably intergrate some of Khaldors english into the upcoming series of tournaments we do.
We should probably discuss the GOM world champs from here on I see alot of people that I would like to be in Korea in this tournament, even if fan favourites are not there from the US, I still think TT1 or Painuser would be awesome in Korea.

Yah he is going to MLG as long planned before.

Surprised more players aren't choosing this over MLG. The prize pool blows MLG out of the water, not to mention the free trip to Korea.

Oh right, well i guess that makes sense.
Still, a free trip to Korea, a chance to play against the best players in the world, in a TV studio full of people, representing your continent and receiving $2700 in prize money just for showing up, with the potential to win up to 10 times that amount, is a great opportunity to pass up.
|
Not to mention the practice experience.. I personally would have chosen this over MLG, but if I didn't go to Korea with moonglade then I would probably think otherwise. You don't really know what its like until you get there.
|
FXOpen, the german/russian casts are going to be on in 6ish hours right? Do I have the time correct? Or is it the next day?
|
You have the time right, I will get slukad or Khaldor to come on to confirm for you.

I'm confused. Is there already a matchlist for which games will be streamed each day? Or are they all casting the same games just in different days? And all the times are the same (9am PDT) each day so timing per region doesn't matter here.

every single SEA EU and US game will be streamed. I believe it will be SEA first up, then US then EU

SEA = asia by the way

Who on that list is a dissapointment? All of them have a title or top 3 finish in a MAJOR event with perhaps the exception of Tarson who has taken 1st in go4sc2 quite a few times. The only two player missing from EU on that list would be TLO, who declined and DeMuslim who can't play anyways.
I know there are other players from EU but they are probably going to MLG or are in Korea (or in Ret's case just left Korea)

Just realized how much German I actually picked up during 3 years of German at school. Guess passing with a 5/10 still gives you enough knowledge to follow Starcraft 2 games haha.

kowi again with the same build. it just won't work, by the time it hits the zerg has a much much better economy and is gonna out macro you hard with reinforcements

Is Kowi using the same exact build as the first game?

I believe most of these games are being casted off of replays. The date for English stream is for tomorrow.

Looks like Kowi is going for the same 1 base +1 timing immortal push again... Might work better than last match since positions are closer, but Sen looks well prepared for it.
|
|
The point is that the games were already played. So spoiling games that have already been played but not yet cast if you have some sort of inside information would be the type of spoiler being talked about in the original post.

I would presume that the "no spoilers" message is related to the fact that these are replay casts from a few days ago, and that a number of the results were leaked/published already (and discussed in the WC thread). Not that you can't comment on the games as you watch them?
Sen is super awesome, very much hoping to see him in the actual tournament.

It's an interesting build, but Sen makes a lot of zerglings that just tear through those sentries/immortals.

So that means the English streamers will re-cast the same matches tomorrow?
Not sure what the no spoilers are referring to.

Kowi performing the same build as in game 1 with immortals/sentries/zealots.
Decides to drop an expansion this time before moving out and gets caught in the middle - after a couple engagements Sen cleans it up very similar to the 1st time with roaches and lings.

All the games are being casted today, no brackets, no site, no schedule.

Interesting , I thought you really needed hydras to counter this kind of push , looks like roach/ling can be enough if you engage in a good position.

I thought he researched +1 armor as well?

Russian Stream is working for me, Lucky for me I am actually Russian Lol. But feels weird for me since I am used to watching it in English.

it was a terrible choice by the terran, why would you put your tanks behind grass. good use of their siege range

Good hold by Zerg to beat down the 2 Rax Marine/SCV Bunker rush. Hero SCV kills a spine though xD

Wow RedArchon was in a good position until that 2nd fail marine attack. He was even on supply even after the bunker push
|
Hmm . . XiaoT and Sen are sooo far ahead than those SEA no namers, it's not even funny . .
|
difference in skill level for various regions seems pretty obvious here, don't think they stand any chance vs koreans at all
|
So, there is no official statement what this means?
WARNING: SPOILERS IN THIS THREAD WILL BE REPORTED
imo it means that you mustn't say any results if you heard about any results (all the games are replays) but we can disuss here. I hope there will be a statement before the games of NA and EU.
|
Is there any of the EU players playing on these streams at all today? Or is this just all the SEA players dueling it out?
|

RedArchon shooting up his own barracks...-_-
|
shooting your own barrack.. embarrasing plays in this serie
|
Lol.. Red Archon shooting his own Barracks down to less than half health..
|
He shot it down to half health with 3-4 marines..... >_>
|
LOL almost killing his own barracks
|
wow this is disgusting, why do they even cast that I want to see europe qualifiers already
|
marine drop kills much more zerglings than he should have cause revenant decided that zerglings should funnel in and fight 2 by 2...
Give eu players.
|
HI guys, sorry I am late. I am sorting out the things on TL now.. Apologies.
Little situation of lack of time to prepare, lack of time to double check.
|
terran drops 4 marines on zergs 3rd, zerg sends his whole army, terran lifts and drops on the plateau above third, zerg sends his entire army around, terran takes the rines up and drop them on third again, zerg sends entire army...
Impressive play mr.zerg. how about leaving at least a couple of zerglings on one side?

Holy crap? This play so mediocore. Terran doing some decent dropping, however macro faililng bad. Zerg so awful, despite taking a very fast 3rd, and scouting the terrans exact bo, he was behind with like 20 food. How do you do that? THat is like diamond level play.

Psylar, its not the official english stream. ITs a guy piggy backing the russian stream. The official (HQ) stream is up same time tomorrow. With Wolf and unstable casting.

You think too highly of your own games. I get so annoyed with all the negative comments here. This isnt GSL code A or S. Players aren't terrible just because they arent at the very highest level.

All the SEA players are pretty much non-progamers. They must have been really awestruck/nervous lol. The SEA region never had a big RTS scene, maybe except DOTA. I guess 1 slot for Sen is good enough!

Archon really needed to focus fire those collosus...

That name on the P on the scoreboard, isn't that the exact same name the Z who lost to Sen had? Is it a mistake or has the dude decided to play P now? ^^

Obviously. This sort of staggered casts are never good. GomTV knows this well enough, which is why for TSL 3 they're casting at the same time as the English casters.

I always forget AUS is somehow considered part of SEA sports-wise. It seems like poverty is inversely correlated with gaming skills. See the weakest regions SA, SEA and Africa are pretty much not the richest. So it's really up to Singapore, Australia, NZ, Malaysia to produce the players. Makes you wonder why FXO wants to have their own GSL in malaysia!

Obviously if you can't afford computers or games or broadband internet your gaming skills will not be very good, but that's not true for the key SEA regions involved in pro-gaming. They just aren't as much into the SC scene. Malaysia and Singapore produce some of the best DOTA teams, however.

We want to have our own EVENT not GSL, in malaysia for reasons that most people would not understand. Without hijacking this thread. You have to look at the costings, the viability, the profitability, the community, the local trends, the location....
I can do the same event as MLG in Malaysia for 1/20th of the price.
|
A reason for the staggered casts might be that the FXOpen is occuring in a few hours - I'm assuming Khaldor will still be casting the qualifiers by then so the English streamers might now have wanted to just abruptly cut out from the cast.
|
Sen, Xiaot, and Xigua are clearly the best players in this bracket. Not surprising since all of them were BW/WC 3 pro-gamers if I'm not mistaken (maybe Xigua is new). Now let's see who between Sen and Xiaot can advance to the invitational.
|
Xiao T brining back his old BW style, I like it.
Also, I enjoy Khaldor's stream more than 99% of english commentators. Shoutouts to Khaldor for being awesome and german, making the stream enjoyable when I don't even speak the language.

I'm predicting Sen will advance. He's pretty much a couple of ladders above the playing field.

sen is playing .. wooooo (i havent seen the games yet).. I am a huge sen fanboy.
|
Yeah I walk into a LAN shop here (Singapore) and most people are playing Dota. I'm quite disappointed in our guys though, watched the SEA masters cup the other day and they seemed to be a lot better than what they showed today. We need our regional champion to root for! And no, I don't consider Moonglade part of SEA (the real SEA, not the server).
FXBoss, I'm happy about the Malaysia thing, I can just cross the causeway .
|
Risky nexus before forge, when he has seen the pool go down. I would think Sen would go for fast roaches.
EDIT: Looks like no fast roaches and goes with an expand.. Interesting... I feel like Sen is a little behind doing that move now... Hopefully he can pull something offf.
|
wtf sen should play one base roaches ----> auto win maybe the worst build oder for protoss i ever seen
|
the only thing i dont like is that we can only have HQ.. its stuttering, cant watch high quality, need low quality...
would be nice if every stream had a low Q option
|
Holy shit SICK ASS Baneling bust by Sen!!
|
Nice baneling bust, I really didn't think he would get through it even with 11 banelings.
Nice job and should be game for Sen now.

Xiaot cleans up the speedlings in his main and retakes the Nexus that was originally spawned there. No losses in the attack. Nicely done!
|
Look to the right here, gomTV DE its online with khaldor.
|
This toss looks good ,manages to secure his third after denying sen's third.
bad engagement by Sen , doing the zerg classic : trade 80 supply for 20 supply of the toss army ^^.
|
Damn, Xiaot is now ahead.
|
Just tuning in. Is there an English stream available?
|
Sen pushes out with a large Hydra/Roach/Ling army. He engages in a really, really terrible spot and Xiaot abuses this with excellent forcefields and crushes the attack with minimal losses. Xiaot in a demanding lead now!
|
On March 19 2011 03:51 Enervate wrote: Just tuning in. Is there an English stream available? Nope. English cast is tomorrow.

Xiaot pushes across the map, kills everything in his way and kills Sen's gold. Sen realizes there's nothing he can do against the deathball and GGs! Awesome game
|
Nooo, Sen. You can't loose this.
|
Xiaot won despite losing his main nexus 8 mins in the game. That Protoss FE seems to be worth it against baneling busts at least. Sen probably should've went fast roaches.
|
I haven't seen SEN play in awhile, but his play in that game seemed really bad...
Grats to the toss though, he played the game well and didn't tilt after losing his natural.
|
Uh oh Sen ggs. Did he get deceived by the fake phoenix into making hydras? Seems like he stuck with making hydras even after colossi were out. Should've used roaches instead of banelings for the first bust!

Sen favors this roach + hydra army style but I think the trend maybe moving away from it and into a more corrupter + baneling style, as IdrA was recently seen using.

xiaot looks solid. cant wait to see what all these chinese wc3 players can do. I believe if sc2 goes as mainstream as wc3 / dota, the chinese can stand toe to toe with the best koreans.

Sen going for a roach push in response to Xiaot's 3 gate expand.

Yeah I'm also really enjoying the casting. Since a lot of english terms are mixed in its not too hard to follow either.

someone plz put the results on main page. i only watched the last game of sen vs xiaot and i dont know if other game was played
|
Sen's got it right against fast expanding Protoss - early roach pressure from as many directions as possible. It doesn't always work but it's better than sitting in your base and defending until Protoss has a death ball. Zerg, at least in ZvP, seems to be the early pressure side, not the defensive macro side.

Nice trap! Playing around with the mutas to have Sjow's army in the right position for his banelings.
But Dimaga is behind because not having the gold like Sjow.

That's pretty weak considering the qualified players are paid $2700 and their flight tickets. You'd think they could find some replacements in NA. Of course since the schedule clashes with MLG it's tougher but still.

Alta-Falta is less a literal saying more like an expression when you after an really awesome game you cant believe you won you just go "wow Holy shit cant believe I did that"
it goes somewhere along that line.

That isn't relevant to his post, lol. After all, we're talking about Supernova who has a 100% record in TvP... If one player is doing well in the matchup, then maybe it just needs to be figured out by the rest of them. Either way, don't introduce balance talk into here please!

I think we weren't suppose to reveal the results before one of the casters started the stream. Because the stream is in session, we can discuss the results and they come.

English stream is at a sucky time of day for me, as it were this is the only one I can watch. Pretty sure we can discuss results in here, although the OP might need to put a warning so that people don't search through the thread not expecting spoilers, as per normal live reporting threads.

Either someone has to make a separate thread for the English cast, or someone puts a spoiler/LR tag in the title so people not wanting to get spoiled are forewarned.
edit: also be careful when treading on the Liquipedia page, results of the Asian qualifier are already being updated there.

If people want to watch the English stream instead, they probably shouldn't be reading the thread at all. Makes no sense not to allow discussion of the games. I don't understand German, but I get the general drift of it, and either way I have eyes, with which I can see what happens myself.

Wasnt it stupid of Sjow to expand far away? As far as I know its best to take the third in the middle between them and slow push with tanks in that situation.

Na it's HQ by default and can be switched to LQ. Actually it's all the same stream (including the "GomTV DE"). All websites have the same Own3d stream embedded.
I was just confused why it is not listed as the Khaldor stream on TL. Gom seems to care somewhat about their name to be present ;o)

He is streaming from the gamesports studio in Berlin. As he usually does for his Stream.

Although I agree, the threadtitle is misleading. It should clearly state "german cast" so people don't go here expecting to read some hype about the cast tomorrow. There should be a seperate thread tomorrow imo.

Hey guys. I've just been informed that I'll be casting this for the English stream. I'll begin at 6pm CST (9am KST). That's about 9 hours from the time of this post.
The stream URL should be <http://www.justin.tv/doastarcraft>. If it turns out to be otherwise I'll let people know. I'll be making a thread about it closer to the actual start time.
Sorry for the confusion. The change of plans was a surprise for me too, but I'm happy to get to cast these great matches for you guys. Right now I'm scrambling to get myself stream-capable at the GOMtv foreigner house. I may have to hijack Torch's computer...

Epic failure. The audio is horrible. I can't hear one caster and the other caster has his audio boosted or something and its really scratchy.
|
it's a shame as the actual casting is pretty good..but it's almost a moot point considering how off the audio is (the inaudible caster looks like he has his mic up, instead of towards his mouth, making it seem like the other (unstable, I believe) is screaming, when his audio is probably normal)
|
Somebody really needs to tell these guys to fix their audio issues or conduct a mic test before they even start streaming.
