Q: Will this be played on NA since White-Ra is an EU player and Bomber is from the KR server? A: No, White-Ra will be in South Korea for the GOM World Championships, so this match will be played on KR with no lag issues. Most likely both players will even be in the same room when this match happens. Lag will not be an issue.
Q: Will this be casted live? A: It will be casted live, but using replays.
Q: Why? A: We had a rare opportunity to set up this match in a condition that would be largely lag free, adding in casters and a streamer from NA would cause unnecessary lag.
This is fucking unbelievable. ST_Bomber vs WhiteRa? This is so fucking sick. Best showmatch ever done! I'm gonna call it better than Jinro vs IdrA series right now! :D
this is a surprisingly interesting showmatch. its incredible they found an opportunity to set it up without any lag since their both in korea. not even sure who to cheer for, im a fan of both.

It was awesome timing for sure!
Just in case people don't read the FAQ and don't know what Alver is referring to, I will post one part of it here to clear it up:

This should be pretty sick. I'm a terran player but i'm a HUGE fan of white-ra. I haven't gotten the chance to see bomber play yet so i'm really excited to see what he has to bring to the table. Props to Iccup.tv for organizing such a prestigious showmatch
I'm loving how the poll is dead even haha. The curse of TL polls, I see. Idra vs Jinro was not immune to the TL poll curse, and neither will this poll.
Should be an exciting match. Can't wait to see the maps that are going to be put out. Here's hoping for a nice mix of iCCup and GSL maps with epic games on all of them.

Will be releasing maps later tonight (having some internal debate on exact pool and order) but it WILL be a mix of both GSL and iCCup with possibly the new Shakuras.

Damn this is going to be sick. Bomber hasn't really played many protosses since the Zotac tourney and that was a map pool and a balance patch ago so we really have no idea how good his current TvP form is. I'm just hoping for good games regardless

Yeah I am interested to see more of his TvP after seeing him smash IEM World Champion, Ace 2-0 in the IMS Invitational.

I'm kidding, the maps actually aren't that similar besides the obvious use of multiple tilesets. In actual games they play completely different. Anyway, I love them both.
Gonna be a sick match. I think Bomber drops an early game or two then runs away with it. Been pulling for White-Ra vs Koreans for years though, so no reason to stop now.

Nah when we decide the maps we know them all so well we don't have to look at pictures, just chat about on Skype, so things like that happen from time to time.
wowowowowow this is something i am SUPER looking forward to
sanshorn looks way different than i remember, did it have a significant change at some point? I haven't seen starparty before, reminds me strongly of LT/ST/python

Glad to hear you like it !
Also with Sanshorn I might have an out of date pic, we sort of pulled it out of the closet for this and had to dust it off !

The pic is up-to-date as far as I can tell ;D
Starparty V got overhauled recently and the expo layout kind of accidentally ended up looking like Python, but the middle is much more suited to SC2.

Starparty is cross positions only which makes the middle of the map more interesting
Guys, this is on the first of April. I won't be surprised if this is all a joke. xD Naw I'm just kidding. The map pool is schweet though. Hopefully we get some good games if this ever does take place. Whitera fighting!

We are NA based, so it's March 31st for us here! No jokes here!
I voted for Bomber seeing how he went 3-4 against oGsMC in the YGosu tournament. Seems like it's going to be a close match though, I predict 4-2 for Bomber.
Man, this is going to be so awesome!!! Bomber is one of the best Terrans in the world (although Ryung and MMA seem to be a stop above in TvT). So excited!!!!

For me I can't decide on who will win the more I think about it but I would not be surprised to see 4-3 either way.
ST_Bomber reminded me of an amazing style of power and multitask of the old oGsStC in top form. I am hoping for the best for Bomber as a terran, and i hope he keeps entertaining us all with his playstyle.

This will be so great C:
Sanshorn Mists is a great map, and probably the most macro heavy 2 player map out there, with all the new maco based GSL maps, it seemed like it might fit a little bit better then before. Either way it ALWAYS made for insane games!
I would love to see White-Ra go up against Nestea (captain of their respective sides) but I guess ST.Bomber is still a pretty rocking choice. Go grandpatoss~
Holy Wow! ICcup knows how to stir a quality match up! Big fan of Bomber since he destroyed players at Zotac and his performances at the GSTL were always Stellar. Finally, he qualified for Code A so people will soon realize how awesome White Ra Vs Bomber truly is. Not to mention how he dismantled my man July, in the tournament that you guys sponsored.
Really cool. Instead of going for some more well known players, you guys picked a lesser known but incredibly talented player. Plus, it's against White Ra, the most successful foreign Protoss at the moment.
Really nice! Can you guys tell I'm happy about it!! =D
No Match Point? I was hoping to see that in the pool considering it didn't get played at all in the ST ICCup tournament. This is going to be a great match, and I hope White-Ra can take it, but Bomber is super solid. Bomber seems really aggressive and White-Ra is fairly passive, I hope White-Ra can handle the pressure.

Glad you like it. I aim to put together the best matches possible, not just grabbing big names. Apparently if this poll is any indication, I made one hell of a close match .
I'm hoping one day people will recognize my ability to put on the matches fans want to see. Like IdrA vs. Tyler from last year that Tyler STILL talks about, I set that one up. Now Bomber vs. White-Ra, which is just the start of things .

I hope that the fact that you guys can organize show matches in Korea will bring some exposure to the maps ICCUP produce. Hopefully, one day, we'll see some of the maps the map making team created, in a GSL. I remember the good ol' iccup days ..ahh..
By the way, if i mean introduce an idea, you guys should try to get DongRae, it would be really nice for the foreign community to be introduced to the guy. Also, i bet having a match with SlayerS_MMA would be a big hit, since he starts to slowly make a name for himself. Hope you guys can entertain the idea!

This will not be our last venture into Korea ...............
Great there should be more of these especially for the top foreigners who don't often come to Korea and vice versa. That way, lag won't be an issue at all.
As expected, it is an excellent mix of GSL and iCCup maps, both well-known, lesser-known, and new. I REALLY hope for 7 games of back-and-forth macro action, especially considering that Sandshorn looks like a cool map despite having not seen any games on it so far.
Also, LOL at Star Party. It IS Python, with a few tweaks here and there, of course.
It's also going to be interesting to see Dual Sight and Testbug back-to-back, especially considering their texture layouts.

I really don't mean to derail the thread, but now that you mention the luck of them being in the same region... will WhiteRa be playing MC while he is in Korea for the TSL3?

There's a whole TSL forum, that would be the place to ask.
So excited!! Can't believe how close the poll is! I know this series is gonna live up to all the hype! And a special thanks to Nationvoice for sponsoring us!! :D Be sure to show them some love, because without them this wouldn't have been possible!

To answer both: Yes VOD's will be up almost instantly on our Ustream channel, but we know the VOD watching experience is not the best so we will have them on our Youtube channel within a couple days, I will link them all once they are on Youtube.
Also there is a small update to tonight's match.
So on Tuesday morning (NA time) the match was originally played and replays were sent to me via email. I went to verify results of the match and verify the replays worked that night during SoTG (<3 that show), and came to found multiple replays were missing, including the final game of the series.
I immediately contacted both players to secure the missing replays. However late night in the NA is morning in Korea, so the message was not received until yesterday. It was then discovered that White-Ra had not enabled "auto-save replays" on his computer, and had played enough games that the replays were auto-deleted.
I then found out that Bomber was using a computer brought over from the GOM Studio, which should have replays auto saved. So this morning I waited up until TorcH arrived at the GOM Studio, as he was going to try and retrieve them. However, GOM had formatted the computer that was being used.
So we were stuck in the situation where we have an incomplete series and one of the missing games was the final one. We could not obviously cast those alone, but in the same token we needed to figure out what was fair for the players too.
TorcH (total hero in all this) talked to both players and they agreed that they would take the prize pool, split it in two, and play another bo7 for the second half (essentially playing 2 bo7's, $75 prize each), which is now done and we have the complete replay pack for.
So I wanted to bring this out up and front, and also to see what the community thinks we should do with the incomplete series. We COULD cast it tonight then cast the other complete series after. We could just keep it unseen, what would you fans like to see done?
Sorry for the confusion, but unfortunately these things happen !
Edit: If there is mass typos in here sorry about that, to make matter worse I just bought a new keyboard yesterday, and am still getting used to it.
Personally I'd like to see you cast the complete series first, and then if there's enough people watching and the casters are good to continue, then maybe cast the other assorted games from the original series after?
I think it'll just be a bit weird to cast some assorted games between the players that don't count for the actual series before the actual Bo7 is shown.
Personally I'd like to see the complete series first. But, just how many games were missing from the original bo7? If it's not too many, why not cast them on a day when iCCup TV doesn't have much to cast.

Just curious, why? Because the players don't want to share them?
It's VERY taboo in Korean culture, and on top of it, not fair to the sponsor.
I remember White-Ra crushing this guy some time ago. Here you are - http://gosugamers.net/starcraft/gosubet/33938. Ra is upset about his loss in GSL and I'm just sorry for this guy that happens to be his opponent.
Omg this is going to be a great TvP I can't wait! White ra has been playing so solidly lately, at least we get to see him in Korea play a TvP instead of all PvP's! White Ra Fighting!

Bomber spawns amid the lush foliage on the west of the map, while WhiteRa arrives in a blaze of fire and lava to the east.
Bomber decides on a 1rax fast expansion, no gas though so he's pure marine to start out.
WhiteRa on the other hand does his favourite 1gate robo.
WhiteRa going up to 3gate robo, while Bomber does go up to 3rax with a rather later tech lab on his rax.
Goodness gracious me, WhiteRa tries to ninja the gold! Bomber has scouted up there twice, and twice WhiteRa has had to cancel the expansion, so he's still stuck on 1 base but already has his first Colossus out.
Bomber scouting very dilligently, but WhiteRa has finally managed to take his natural.

WhiteRa pushes out into the middle of the map but Bomber catches all his units, snipes the Colossus very fast and cleans up the rest.
WhiteRa is trying to double expand during this (presumably to make up for the massive eco deficit he's at). Bomber is really in control of this game so far, but he's very hesitant to press his advantage and WhiteRa did get that third base up.
Bomber pushing out again @ 12mins with +1 and combat shields finishing up, but he doesn't commit to anything and is content to just occupy the centre while he takes his third base. Bomber has no idea about the third it seems, and his window may be slowly passing him by,

WhiteRa pushes out into the middle of the map but Bomber catches all his units, snipes the Colossus very fast and cleans up the rest
Bomber has no idea about the third it seems, and his window may be slowly passing him by,
16 minutes and Bomber is about to max, bringing Ghosts and +2 attack
Bomber maxes and pushes out and we finally have the big clash that has been brewing for the last 6 minutes or so. Bomber's vikings reduce the Colossi to a big pile of spindly legs, while his Bio stays alive enough to mop up the rest. He's left with a small handful of Bio at an uncontested third, and knowing he's at too much of a disadvantage WhiteRa GG's out.
Just very solid bio play that game, WhiteRa was always behind after the opening and Bomber's macro was absolutely rock solid.

I think he's just wary of White Ra/doesn't know what he might have up his sleeve. Smart player, Bomber is really really good. If White Ra can take a few games off of him or beat him in this showmatch it'll definitely be a feat. He could have it in him, definitely.

Bomber is SUCH a smart player, assume there is reasoning behind everything .
Bomber spawning in the industrial area at 7'o'clock, while this time WhiteRa finds himself amidst pleasant greenery at 11.
This time around Bomber is going for 2 fast refineries, he's got his factory down already and follows up with a starport. Looking like banshees so far.
WhiteRa once again going for his favourite Gate Robo Gate Gate opening.
Bombers fast banshee building @ 5:45 and he's researching cloak, but WhiteRa does already have an observer on the way. Neither player looking to expand just yet

Oh my, the observer and the banshee pass inches away from each others sight!
WhiteRa spots the tech lab researching with his observer though and builds a second back at home to prepare for the banshee. The harass gets completely shut down, but Bomber does save the banshee.
Bomber followed up with a Raven out of the Starport and it looks like he's going for one of those Marine Tank Raven with Banshee harass builds that we've seen a lot lately.
Actually I say that, he's not expanding, it's far more like the one base timings we've been seeing for a while. Bombers push comes as WhiteRa is planning to expand, but WhiteRa cancels it and then crushes Bombers push because he's been one basing all this time too.
WhiteRa's counter push forces Bomber to cancel his expanasion, and he's crushing into the main...however he gets a bit sloppy with his observer and Bomber snipes it out with marines which lets his 2 banshees clear things up.
Bomber retaliates with 3 banshees into WhiteRa's natural and manages to stop mining there, it's very tense, Bomber is hanging on by a thread, but if he can keep WhiteRa's natural unoperational for a while he can get himself back into things.

Bomber brings in a Raven for PDD while his three banshees go to town on the mineral line, but WhiteRa's stalkers quickly drain the energy on it and with the observer to spot he's able to take out 2 of the banshees.
WhiteRa has a small worker lead, and is getting thermal lance up. Does have a supply lead though and he's about to get his fourth Colossus up, things look dangerous for Bomber here.
Bomber is trying to keep up constant Banshee harass to stop WhiteRa from pushing, and good lord it looks like it worked. WhiteRa tried to push into Bombers nat but all of a sudden the supply is equal, Bomber has his tanks sieged and they are doing huge damage to WhiteRa's primarily Stalker/Colossus ball, while his Bio (which he's switched to primarily marauders) and Vikings also bring a whole world of pain.
Bomber brings up some SCV's to buffer hits, parks his bio/tanks at the natural while his Vikings go in to snipe out the last Colossus, and WhiteRa has to GG!
Impressive win from Bomber, he really looked like he was in a lot of trouble there.

I agree with you that Bomber is a smart player - adding he is a beast.^^ The thing in the first game was: He didn't scout anything, neither the third nor the army of White-Ra.
This time no one gets their own fancy environemt to set the mood, it's all the cold grey stone of Neo Enigma. Bomber spawns @ 2pm with WhiteRa @ 8pm, for those who only use digital clocks, that's cross positions.
Bomber continuing to mix things up, opening 2 rax conc shells this time around, and following up with a command centre.
WhiteRa going 3 gate, he loses a Stalker in the middle of the map and only has a zealot + sentry back at home. Bomber gets up his ramp but WhiteRa holds if off pretty well, despite having to lose a few probes.
WhiteRa gets his expansion down and goes for a Robo, Bomber has his down and is going for a factory (presumably to then go to Starport since he's still heavy bio)

WhiteRa pokes in at Bombers natural, but it's well fortified with bunkers and he has to retreat back out. It does have the handy effect of making Bomber get a little more defensive though, and he takes a fast third behind it.
WhiteRa goes straight to Templar Archive, and it looks like that might pay off since Bomber is going for some blind vikings.
Bomber taking his third too, and sends a drop out that spots WhiteRa's third. He harasses a bit but can't do anything too serious.
WhiteRa going for a Warp Prism, looks like we might get some of those patented WhiteRa storm drops =)
No wait, I take that back, he loaded it with zealots and came to try shut down the harass at the third, excellent feedbacks on the medivacs from WhiteRa.
Oh there is a storm drop coming afterall, but omg Bomber having spotted the warp prism earlier gets his vikings in a perimiter and shuts down the drop, WhiteRa gets the Templar out but Bomber sends out a small force of bio to take them out.
Bomber has a giant supply lead, I hadn't realised quite far ahead he was. WhiteRa has been losing too many units for cheap I guess.

WhiteRa tries to take a hidden expansion...which Bomber immediately goes to build at...the hidden expansion now becomes something more of a liability than anything else.
Bomber sends SCV's in to clear up supply...and actually take out a templar rofl.
Having not pushed at all Bomber has let WhiteRa catch up in supply
Bomber is bringing the nukes, I repeat, Bomber is bringing the nukes!
Both guys have sick upgrades, Bomber slightly ahead I think.
Bomber has freed up so much supply that he's got a much bigger army than WhiteRa, he lands some money EMPs and absolutely rolls over WhiteRa's deathball.
WhiteRa trying to counter with a warp prism drop but Bomber is all over him and has units shutting it down before it can do anything.
Bomber mops up WhiteRa's third base, he's only got his hidden fourth mining for now.
Holy shit that's a lot of high templar for WhiteRa! Regardless though there's about an 80 supply differential

MONEY NUKE MONEY NUKE MONEY NUKE
Oh my god that was an absolutely gorgeous Nuke, takes out all WhiteRa's remaining mining probes at the gold! 24 kill ghost a.k.a one formerly saturated mining base.
At the same time Bomber smashes in from the front too, remember that thing about how many HT's WhiteRa had? Yeah, he got off one storm before Bomber emp'd the shit out of everything.
I only heard the end of that explanation there, really confused as to what happened/which of the 2 series those first 3 games were from. Can anyone clarify?
I don't think I can say this based off this series alone, but wow, Bomber just might be one of the best at TvP out there... That could be totally inaccurate, but hey, he looks amazing based off these games. He's making WhiteRa look pretty second-class, yet WhiteRa is certainly a top-class player.

It's the (new?) GSL version, Bomber is spawning at 11 while WhiteRa is at 5. That's right, more cross positions, so hopefully another epic match too!
Bomber doing a 1rax no gas expand, and following it up with a further 2 rax.
WhiteRa going for a 4gate!
Bomber is well prepared for the early pressure with a double bunker up and his 3 rax have been producing for a while.
WhiteRa is expanding behind this, and doesn't actually push in.
Oh god Bomber salvages all three of his bunkers, this is pretty tense, WhiteRa is just sitting at the Xel'Naga tower though!
Bomber pushes out and WhiteRa catches him...but it's a fairly even trade unit wise and Bomber's reinforcements are able to snipe out a lot of sentries.
Both guys are going up to three bases now, WhiteRa with a fairly slow robo. Bomber on the other hand going up to 5 rax and does have a reactored starport.
There's certainly a window open for Bomber right now, he's deciding to drop though and both guys are actually taking a rather fast fourth.

2-1 on the way for Bomber and he's patrolling around the field but still doesn't know about WhiteRa's fourth.
Bomber once again with a supply lead, WhiteRa is pumping out THREE Colossus at a time to try catch back up. Bomber dropping a fifth and sixth command centre.

Heavy heavy macro!
As Tasteless would say, there's an interaction!
Despite landing perfect EMPs on all WhiteRa's sentries Bombers bio gets torn to shreds by WhiteRa's Colossus before the vikings can take them out. Bombers vikings are then taken out by the stalkers while they try to pick off the remaining Colossus.
WhiteRa could probably have attacked and won just now, but he chose to secure another expansion and Bombers absurd macro lets him catch back up before WhiteRa attacks.
Another huge interaction and this time Bombers superior upgrades and yet more great EMPs tell the tale as he's able to clean up the Colossus count fast enough to let his bio mop up the groud too.
WhiteRa has pylons everywhere and is warping in Zealots for harass!! Haha, WhiteRa just cannon rushed Bombers fifth expansion xD
Once again it looks like we're heading towards our third 200/200 clash!

35 minutes in and we're descending into a base race situation somewhat as both players don't have a whole lot of eco and instead set up about trashing their opponents expansions...
no wait, never mind. They kill each others last mining bases and then expand in the ashes haha.
Oh my! Bomber catches WhiteRa way out of position and looks like he's finally broken him, it's 35 supply to about 90.
Ah, and there's the GG
Absolutely tremendous from Bomber, wow that was good!
That was by far the best use of nukes and mules of any casted high skill game.
Using nukes to keep white-ra stuck in a base and unable to defend another base from attack was genius.
Making mostly Orbitals and being able to slam 10 mules whenever an Orbital landed anywhere won Bomber the game. His economy was just booming because of those mules.
well, this game makes me really think that KA should have been tweaked instead of removed and Terran late game strength comes from mules that allows them to free up supply for more army.
Bomber is such a beast. He will be an instant Code S contender (when he advances).
I really hope they change the GSL qualification process (that for NASL looks even worse), so that such players are not hold out of the leagues by upsets.
Game 4 was incredible, but damn, bomber abuses the hell out of mules in the late game. Losing all your scv's and mainting almost 2k income from mules, it's hard to combat that in a base race.

If he gets over his stage fright, Code A is in A LOT of trouble. This is why all the Koreans regard him as one of the Top 5 if not Top 3 Terrans in Korea.
bomber as usual haha love this guy so much as well as mma and mkp and empire.kas knows a tonnnnnns of builds, but always agressive, really enjoyable to watch Ra is good too, dunno why the score is so strange

Hm, I don't think Bomber should try to end a showmatch 7-0.. Hopefully White-Ra takes the final game.
the bonus is actually the original series, but of which some replays got misplaced, so they replayed. but theyre casting those of the original series that they have
lol they spoilered it: apparently the two best of 7s go 4-0 and 4-1, with White-Ra winning game 4 of the second set. However, that game was lost, so they're going to the fifth game of the set (so it'll appear that Bomber 8-0's White-Ra, but it's really only 8-1).
White-ra apparently took a game but it's lost forever. I would like to know what happened. honestly given what we've seen so far I'm guessing it was just a build order loss for Bomber :/

I think.
Didn't they say the last game of the series was lost as well? That'd mean White-Ra won the fifth set as well.
Holy shit. The fact that Bomber dominated so hard here yet got pretty badly and very convincingly schooled by Ryung really makes the SlayerS team seem even better (or Bomber was really off his game that day)

well i guess Bomber's TvT isn't as good as his TvP, or i should say Ryung is such a TvT gosu that Bomber lost. I'm sure Bomber's TvT is very good too.

Both Ryung and Bomber have great TvT's. Only TvT's I've seen them lose are to Mvp. And let's face it, Mvp is the game genie of TvT. Best TvTer out there.

The showmatch was replayed, they showed the replayed one first. This is just a bonus since they have some of the games they figured they might as well cast them.
Honestly I really like White-ra but saying what he did about San's 4gate and then doing this is pretty low.
Well the first set they actually played was 4-2, where Bomber lost to 4 Gates. Then the next series he swept White-Ra. Crazy play by Bomber, was so sure White-Ra would give a better run.
First series 4-3, second series 4-0 for bomber. Gotta say, white-ra lost a couple of games with an advantage in the second series. Overall though, dominating performance. GG!

The "gosu 4gate" was a totally serious compliment by White-Ra. He would never whine. And 4gate is a strong part of the game, so don't whine either.
In an interview after the games he said it didn't take much brains to 4gate. It was obviously trash talk. I understand that 4gate is part of the game and I think in some cases you SHOULD do it such as PvP but this was hypocritical of him.

Just because he criticized 4-gating after in an interview, doesn't mean he was BMing during the game.

Actually, White-Ra confirmed in an interview that his comment was a whine, not a compliment. Many people, including myself, were shocked, considering he's well-known for being extremely good-mannered. He felt that the 4gate was too simple a strategy and he was hoping to play a longer game. However, he shouldn't have been caught off guard by it.

A bit dissapointed to see White-ra losing, especially Ra missed to win games where he had advantage at some point. It seems Bomber is way ahead in game understanding, great player. I hope that White-Ra will get better from these games and we will see him able to compete with korean pros.
upd: about 4 gate. I belive today variations of 4 gate are so powerful that players are practically forced to use them intesively, which is kind of sad. Maybe GSL WC and staying in korea will force white-ra to include more 4gate builds in his games, since he sees how everybody is abusing it, and not playing 4gates makes your game more predictible.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was also wondering about that myself after watching the White-Ra vs. San series. If it was Idra saying something like that, I would've assumed that it was just another one of those "very useful skill toi have" type of ragequit, but since it was White-Ra and all, I wasn't sure if he actually meant to compliment San. I guess everyone rages every once in a while.

Everyone rages every so often... But stick to raging in practice games. You rage on TV and you're just a bad mannered player. You don't develop world wide reputations by being mannered in practice games and smaller tournaments. If you get raped in a huge televised event by cheese or easy to execute strategies, just man up and accept that you got out played... Makes me^^ sad to see the grandfather toss make such silly comments in the GSL.
Onwards to talk about this series though, I saw the first 6 games then fell asleep cause bomber just raped him too hard. I'm actually very suprised white ra got TWO games off of him in a row... Anyways hopefully white ra improves all the way around.

Me too. Kinda wanted to give him a hug lol. Granted, he played quite poorly, and his passiveness ended up losing him game one, but he knew he played badly... and I know that that gets me really frustrated. If I lose an epic game, I'll smile and still feel good about playing the epic game. But it was clear that he knew that he was just out of it today; he wasn't our epic GSL Code S Hero that we're used to seeing. But I'm sure he'll shake it off and move on soon

I viewed it as a backhanded compliment. Just imagine yourself being a protoss player getting complimented on your 4gate. Or complimenting a terran for a bunker rush. But that's what terrans do - they bunker rush! And that's what protosses do - they 4gate! To unnecessarily compliment them for something they would naturally do is BM. I don't have anything against BM, I find it rather funny. However, White-Ra has tried to maintain an image of being well mannered.

I personally thought it was a bit obvious that the comment was supposed to be sarcastic, simply because of the context, but I remained on the fence just because it was WhiteRa saying it. Like you said, if you compliment someone for doing something cheesy, it's incredibly easy to interpret as sarcasm. "Wow, your cannon rush is excellent." "Wow, your 2rax SCV all-in is so gosu". What makes those any different from "Wow, your 4gate is so good" other than how 4gate is arguable a bit less cheesy?

Hahaha. Well, to his credit, I believe Idra has actually typed GG in every GSL game he lost. That is, unless there really is a rule that forces players to type GG before leaving the game.

The "gosu 4gate" was a totally serious compliment by White-Ra. He would never whine. And 4gate is a strong part of the game, so don't whine either.
That's exactly what I had first posted after the match ended (along with many others), comparing the assumed tone of an IdrA post to that of a White-Ra post. We all thought he was being sincere lol. Whoops >.>
Even those who are known to stay calm, cool, and collected can lose it, it seems. I don't always blame them, either. Definitely high pressure situations.
I viewed it as a backhanded compliment. Just imagine yourself being a protoss player getting complimented on your 4gate. Or complimenting a terran for a bunker rush. I had initially thought of it as a compliment too, until I saw Kelly Milkies's interview with him, where he was clearly pissed at getting 4gated.

Ah okay. After watching that video, do you still feel that way? Wait until everyone starts copying his style and then P gets QQed again, then Terran gets nerf and round and round we gooo!
His style? LOL!
You really think just any Terran out there on ladder can match what Bomber has? It's more than just a simple unit composition or build order or opening tactical play. It's his scouting, his attack timings, his responses, his expansion timings - his decision making in general - his micro, his macro. It's because he's good. That's why he's winning. Protoss aren't going to "QQ" simply because one Terran that happens to bring a unique set of abilities happens to be stomping Protoss left and right, at least for the time being.

I'm not judging White-Ra as a person. I'm sure he's a nice guy but for this one instance, frustration gets the better of him and he ends up insulting another player. It happens. Jinro blew up last night but managed not to BM the other player(probably was being harder on himself). It happens.

I agree with you and I'm not saying it's an excuse. I only say that it's understandable since no doubt many of us have had the same feeling. It happened, get over it and move on. This incident is an anomaly. If it were to become the norm, I would be concerned
Just felt like adding, great job by ICCup with this, don't often get to see a series like this without the question of lag. Also, I was totally unfamiliar with those maps but I thought they looked very well designed for the most part.

It's so weird that some Terrans totally understand this matchup where-as others look clueless and lose to much lesser players. Every Terran can learn something from Bomber. Thanks for the great series, was a great watch!

When you guys talk about food advantages, you should consider the supply tied up in units currently in production. Was White-Ra using all his chrono energy on colossus? If he got those replacements a tad faster and attacked a tad sooner he could've had the base trade game.

So many people saying Whitera is so good, best foreigner, just based on a bo1 PvP in the WC...(not saying he has no other achievements but that seems to be the reason behind so much of the hype in the last few days).

Wow! Thanks to Bomber, Mules and flying Command Centers look overpowered on big maps. One can have the income other races have with several bases with only one hidden expansion (and fly to it lol). Who needs SCVs? Bomber truly looks unstoppable.
Ever since I saw Bomber play against July in the ST invitational I've been waiting for him to make it big. Unless he has some sort of weird nerves problem he should destroy code A. Anyway, I love the fact this showmatch got put together, thanks to the organizers. It's a wonderful time to be a SC2 fan.

Well Bomber was the only player who managed to defeat MMA in a macro game. So yeah his TvT is pretty good.
He also lost a TvT to mvp where he had over 40 supply of advantage at one point (And it wasn't 200 to 160, was like 110ish to 65ish), on GSTL feb's finals. His TvT is really not that special, granted mvp is a beast in TvT but he shouldn't have taken that game in the GSTL vs a competent Terran, after the mistakes he made in the first engagements.

yeah...i was excited to see this guy named White_RA play for the first time since I only watch gsl and he's been hyped for so long on these forums. turns out he's immature considering his age. bming san for 4gate-ing, and being sarcastic about it too LIVE in a televised match? is this guy really 31 and married? what a joke.
also note when Artosis talks about foreigners he loses all credibility. he's very biased. when sen attacked with banelings and roaches into mkp's army in the 2nd match yesterday, tasteless was trying to say how sen's losing alot if not all his roaches, esp given that he sacrificed building drones to build up army and Artosis is like "it doesn't matter, it's SEN! he killed a lot of mkp's scvs" well the thing was mkp was concentrating on his economy so he had a lot of scvs anyways while sen didn't and i'm sure Artosis knew this. also, in the same game, Sen loses all of his initial mutalisks that were on hold to kill two tanks. Tasteless is like "but he lost ALL of his mutas" then Artosis just interrupts and says "but it's okay it's Sen, he doesn't need mutas".
lol wut seriously? is this the professional, accurate casting we've come to know from Artosis? what a joke.

The same rule applies to MLG.
But it looks like it's not being enforced either place.

I can only laugh at this child-like obsession with BM. A lot of people find every frustration generated comment as BM. And even if I considered it BM why should we care in this case. Should I also bash MC for his BM (as basically everything he does "in persona" is BM in your definition) when he gives a thumb down before games or points to Korean flag after defeating Morrow. The former is actually more insulting than venting a frustration over 4-gate preventing longer, more entertaining games. And he does that in televised matches. Also why should be winning player able to BM and losing player not, and why should it matter where the BM was done ? There is behaviour that I dislike and might call BM, like MC's(and others') thumb down, some of Idra's comments belittling his opponents before the match(i do not care mostly what he says after losing, people get frustrated after loss). Yet I am still their fan(not my favourite players but nonetheless I am a fan), because why should small inconsequential things like that change the fact. And you calling White-ra's behaviour disgusting show that you don't know what disgusting behaviour actually is.
And just to note, he is not best foreigner, there is none that can be granted that title at this time. But if some consider him that it is definitely not because of the game vs MC, but because of the multiple great performances in recent months.

If you know anything about White-Ra and think what he said at the end of game 3 vs san was intended as bad manner, then you are actually retarded. Please don't say garbage when you don't know what you're talking about.
your retarded. white ra said san is good at 4gating. He just said in this interview 4gating is such an ez build to pull off, so obviously saying someone is good at something that is really ez is bm. just like how idra said "building carriers is a useful skill toi have". http://www.justin.tv/kellymilkies/b/282628325 --> interview.
Just finished watching the vods. Unfortunately the results were spoiled for me in another thread but I still watched it anyways and boy am I impressed with bomber. He showed the full gamut of skills that makes him so feared in Korea. Micro, macro, army positioning, build orders, aggression, decision making, harassing, defending harass, etc were all simply sublime. I wondered if maybe he only won because of superior familiarity on Iccup maps but he went 4-1 on GSL maps too. Can't wait to see him tear up code A, which I'm sure he'll do unless he hasn't gotten over his stage nerves or gets unlucky and draws Slayers_Ryung in the first 2 rounds.

Ironically, you're the one who doesn't know what he's talking about. WhiteRa pretty much confirmed it was BM in an interview.

BTW, according to Artosis Whitera is the best foreign player in the world.
Thats a bit of a stretch to name him the best foreign player in the world....
So many people saying Whitera is so good, best foreigner, just based on a bo1 PvP in the WC...(not saying he has no other achievements but that seems to be the reason behind so much of the hype in the last few days).
Lost a lot of respect for him when he BM'd like that in a televised match =/ Even idra doesn't BM in GSL. Hes out there representing his country and the foreign gaming community as a whole (and as the team captain no less) and he makes a comment like that? disgusting...
note: I am referring to his sarcastic comment to san after losing game 3 in the ro16. Different from bm like dancing units/mule dropping/ceremonies because this is the losing player bm'ing the winner.
yeah...i was excited to see this guy named White_RA play for the first time since I only watch gsl and he's been hyped for so long on these forums. turns out he's immature considering his age. bming san for 4gate-ing, and being sarcastic about it too LIVE in a televised match? is this guy really 31 and married? what a joke.
also note when Artosis talks about foreigners he loses all credibility. he's very biased. when sen attacked with banelings and roaches into mkp's army in the 2nd match yesterday, tasteless was trying to say how sen's losing alot if not all his roaches, esp given that he sacrificed building drones to build up army and Artosis is like "it doesn't matter, it's SEN! he killed a lot of mkp's scvs" well the thing was mkp was concentrating on his economy so he had a lot of scvs anyways while sen didn't and i'm sure Artosis knew this. also, in the same game, Sen loses all of his initial mutalisks that were on hold to kill two tanks. Tasteless is like "but he lost ALL of his mutas" then Artosis just interrupts and says "but it's okay it's Sen, he doesn't need mutas".
lol wut seriously? is this the professional, accurate casting we've come to know from Artosis? what a joke.
Turns out you should maybe venture outside of gsl and also turns out you have no idea what immature means
As for the roaches I think you(and Tasteless) are probably right, as for the mutas he did not say what you paraphrased as he actually offered implied explanation of why Sen is sacrificing his mutas. I am not sure if that sacrifice was good or not, but I also saw the point in their sacrifice. As for your assessment on Artosis' commentary, try searching here on TL for "neutral commentary" by Chill, also check Day9's commentary in SoTG why he is "biased/cheering" for foreigners. I don't know how many people agree with you on how they perceive Artosis' cast of those games, but definitely not all, I actually love how he was so excited as I was in the same state of mind so he made it so much more enjoyable.
Wow, all these comments about BM. Lol, really. Could you please stop arguing about it? I don't see it as BM, maybe because I also don't see not typing gg as BM. There might be something wrong with me. But it doesn't matter, because this topic is about Bomber vs White_Ra and not about what bm is. I want to see some well-written thoughts about these games. Please.
Well White-ra got outplayed. And just to correct some people, the main series ended 4-2, the additional one ended 4-0, they were broadcasted out of order. I think White-ra needs to polish his builds a lot, often I was cringing at things he was doing, mostly related to things that Bomber was doing. His timings were off, that may be because of differences between Europe and Korea builds, but I think most of it is just that Korean builds are more polished and plainly better. As for micro, White-ra can have great micro and sometimes he does things noone else does (see his warp prism micro in other series) he also slips too often and even at his best he was just barely a match for Bomber. White-ra also too often engaged in wrong spots and this definitely cost him some games. In the epic game 4 of the 4-0 series he twice engaged in quite easily preventable spots. I think if he had been in Korea longer and had adapted to Korean timings, his biggest strength might have gotten the score more even. I mean his decision-making and crisis-management which I consider one of the best in the world, but that was not seen in most games here because he just got killed. All in all, Bomber was one level above. No White-ra was not destroyed but he definitely got outplayed. If you are a terran these are great games to learn from. Game 4 of the 4-0 series was definitely fun, and I think White-ra was definitely pleased with that game in the sense that he said he wanted to show good games and this one was great.
When did the Starcraft community transform into a bunch of fucking pussies and whiners because someone wented a little frustration?
Seriously... Oh no, he said someone is good at 4 Gating... You know what? Thats a fucking fact and actually also a really nice thing if you have to play PvP, if you see this as BM your just one thing: A moron..

Given White-Ras comments in an interview after it's quite clear that the comment was intended as sarcastic. If you consider it BM or not I don't care but in a televised world championship match, probably not the smartest thing to do, honestly.
There are plenty of sports where participants BM each other a little.
It's normal, it's part of the game, get over it and stop being so hypersensitiv.
FFS in Moto-GP Lorenzo puts down a fucking flag on the course when he wins and no one goes all "OH, what an insult", "He should not do that, these people fought for their freedom/country."... When a Tennis player states about another that he's incredibly good on Sand he is also saying: "he is better when the game is slower"... or when he states: "If i can take his Service i should be able to win" he's also just saying: "His normal play is worse than mine but hes good at hitting a "standing" Ball". Not even going into Boxing/MMA and that stuff...
Do you see people go batshit insane about stuff like this?
No, you don't.
Do you know why?
Because it's normal in basically ANY 1on1 competition.

Please listen to what the casters said, the 4-2 series was played first, this was the original series. The second series was played because some replays were lost from the first one. They were broadcasted in the reversed order.

Might as well just call it 8-2 tbh, that's what it was in the end afterall.
Going to go catch the games from the original series that I missed last night, already saw Artosis twitter about Bomber's micro so eager to see what that was haha

Might as well, although they were two BO7 each for separate prize money , although Bomber got all of original 150

It's actually you who need to know what you're talking about before going off and calling people retarded. White-Ra basically admitted that he was being bitter during an interview later.
Ouch, Bomber is just on another level than White-Ra, which is saying a lot because White-Ra is a fantastic player. ><
Code A is going to be AMAZING this season. I'm looking forward to it more than Code S. Immvp, Boxer, MMA, Bomber, and not to mention a ton of newly qualified mvp players I want to see.

Yeah agree, that's just as stupid as thinking that White-Ra had a chance against MC. L A W L
Bomber has a 80% rate of win against Ra. A 85% (possibly 100%) winning rate in a macro game. Bomber didn't cheese. Ra four gated though. It wasn't even remotely close.
Saw these games and I'm going to have to study his play cause it looks a lot like the style of TvP I favor. Want to see what he does in his other matchups.

no offence but boxer is not equal to other mentioned players by nowaday skill also there's Ryung in Code A . That means if mvp/mma/bomber (boxer too ofc) met him in first round - there's high chance they will be out of code A ^^

As much as I love Boxer, I think there's a good chance that he'll end up like Moon (getting knocked out of Code A, and not being able to qualify again), especially if he runs into a strong player - from the looks of the qualifiers this season, Code A will be STACKED. I fear for Boxer's future in the GSL unless he seriously improves his play.
Then again, judging from the Dreamhack and NASL invites outside of Korea, I wouldn't be surprised if both Boxer and Moon make a move into international stardom.

Haha indeed. The interview says it all but i guess Pervect was too retard to watch it
I wish they would shorten robo/immortal build time and maybe buff immortal range or something to make them more viable to defend against 4 gate. How sad is cheese has become standard because it's practically unstoppable without cheesing back?
On April 01 2011 12:42 nat wrote: Bomber is godly....i thought TvP is hopeless. He makes it looks like a joke
What's hopeless about making marines-marauders for first 6-7 minutes, then marauders with stim for the rest of the game, and blindly going vikings at 10 minute mark (counter colossus and vikings if for some moronic reason they went void rays). Stimmed marauders with scoot and shoot counter zealots all day, own stalkers especially cost for cost, and now that KA is gone, there's really no one using HT anymore until super super late game. If you're worried about FF or HT, just get EMP, easy win. I play random, TvP is the easiest matchup. ZvP is the hardest.
