If you loose your first game in group play your almost completely dependant on others losing in order to make it to the round of 16.
If each matchup consisted of Bo3's in group play, then it would be much more stable.
(obviously that would be an insane number of games. not all that realistic.)
I agree that group play sucks. We saw players like MVP, Nestea, and MKP fall out in the group stages, probably not because they were worse players than the top 2 in their respective group stages, but just because group format is simply a terrible way to determine who gets to move on in a tournament if you really want to accurately base it on player skill.

when can we buy the ticket for the GSL May?

so boxer will be out of code A because he won't be able to play due to injury?

From what I read, no. He just had some bad food and missed the plane to Dreamhack, should be ok for GSL.

I agree, especially SC2 being so volatile atm.

I completely disagree.
You shouldn't go into the group stage with a mindset that you can only qualify if your opponents lose. It should always be "If I win 2 games, I'm through, regardless of what happen to my opponents". If you lose two games in a row then it's your fault that you got eliminated. Similar to a Bo3. Same thing can happen even if it were a Bo3.
To the other guy saying that MVP got eliminated because of the format: he lost because he lost twice to July. How does that differ from a Bo3? And then he got knocked down to Code A because he got 2-1ed and 2-0ed by Alicia and Genius, games in which he deserved to lose. I mean yea he is a skillful player, but the reason he's in Code A this season is not due to the format or anything. It was his own fault.
Nestea lost to San and Ensnare, not due to any cheese or anything, but because he just didn't play well that day. Watch the matches again. San and Ensnare beat him fair and square. You could argue that if San and Ensnare were to play him in a Bo3, he would beat them both. But look at it this way: You are 1-1 (beating Boxer, losing to San), and you know you're going to be eliminated if you lose the next match, against Ensnare, who should be an inferior player. It's the same situation if you were 1-1 against Ensnare, and you had 1 more set to play. The reason you lose is because of your own fault.
The only ill effect of the format is you can't learn from a person's play in the previous two matches, but it works both ways also, and shouldn't really bias the inferior player. If you're really better than him, you would know you have to win, and play the best to win. If you don't then it's just an unfortunate day for you. Just like all those people who lose 0-2 to inferior players due to cheese or something (Genius in S1).
As for MKP: He won his first game IIRC, that should give him the confidence to know that he only has to win ONE out of two games to guarantee qualification. If he loses the next set, then he's in a similar situation with the Nestea illustration I put above.
The format makes for a more intriguing and tense matches and it's a way of pushing through the players who were better ON THAT DAY and isn't much different from a regular Bo3.
It also offers up a better spectator view as we don't have to see the same match up all the time (unless you're in Group B, in which case you can only see TvT. Lol)

those guys from this korean boy band look so manly you can see the testosterone aura flowing through their bodies as the ballet moves are made

DoA and Moletrap is great
|
This season has already gone off to a weird start, with + Show Spoiler +. Complete upset, + Show Spoiler +I hope he doesn't drop down to Code A like IMMvp .
All in all, I really missed Tastosis casting, DoA and Moletrap just aren't such a good duo.

He's definitely not the favorite of his group. Huk and Jinro have both shown some pretty bad games in recent broadcasted matches. I'm rooting for July and whoever else in his group.

OP is very helpful. Thanks!
Could you put GSL into the thread title, to make it easier to find?

Totally want VODs for Boxer vs Avenger Game 3!

I believe in Huk. People don't give him enough credit. Imo, he just got nervous during team league and made a couple mistakes.Huk fighting!!

Im hoping for a Ryung and MVP finals rematch/faceoff ^.^

Flash got knocked out by almost the same system (same groups but winner vs winner (1) and loser vs loser (2) and than loser of (1) against winner of (2)). So he lost to Classic and Reality or something like that and was out.

Too late, the thread isn't actual. Or is it for the next season?^^
