I hope players like Nerchio, ToD, SaSe, XlorD or Grubby get a chance to play. These players are very high ranked on ladder but they don't get invited on many tournaments. Also some of them have a lot of fans from the W3 days. It's getting a bit boring to see the same players getting invited.

i second this

ToD, Adelscott and the other French players have a Paris LAN on this date and cannot attend. MaNa and HasuObs have personal commitments or otherwise that mean they can't make the time.
Grubby, SaSe and SjoW have recieved invites but they are pending until their schedule is figured out for the future. I will try and keep the racial balance as even as possible as it worked out well in both previous KOTH events and improved the spectacle (in my opinion) when there were less mirror matches, so depending on which of those players pull out there are a few other options for replacements of that race. Many have been mentioned here, such as Happy, Nericho, Kas, DarkForce, XlorD, etc.
Remember that this is the first of what is a weekly series, and that a European version will run every month so even if the first month has only big-name players that generate interest everyone who deserves a place should get a run before the major offline events
EDIT: Update! White-Ra confirmed

We tried to invite as many as possible to the Invitational (since this event is 13 players), but most were at CPHG or TG, but don't worry, we're well aware of these players.

It always make the epic games. The games I enjoyed playing the most or watching the most is when the person way behind (sometime hopeless) and wins the game. It takes to play catch up, get small advantages and soemtimes takes one blunder from other player too.
Those games may be less tahn one percent of all the games, but they are the reason I get excited for playing and watching.
IMHO, No fun in one person being playing perfect. I prefer TLO's chaotic style more <3 <3

hm qxc playing go4sc at the same time?

Lowely's macro is rather poor. Losing ground on supply for no reason, and like 80/150, rather overproducing ovies.

qxc going for the incredibly obnoxious lategame turtle terran :/
eta: damn that was a lot of units

Yes, there has to be some incentive for the last players to play since their position makes it hard/impossible to get the win streak prize money
|
One of the few games where I've ever seen more than 3 Ultras in production simultaneously and didn't think horribly of it.
|
Seemed like qxc had way too feew units in that siege/bunker position considering the amount of bases he had and his supply.

don't think this style by qxc works vs zerg that goes hive

QXC just didn't have any units lol

i think in the lategame you need blue flame hellions, marauder and ghosts.
hellions against those lings, marauder against ultras and ghosts against broodlords / infestors.

Oh yes, didn't consider that, was the seeding done randomly? I wonder what position the players view as the most attractive one. I guess around 4th to last is pretty good, so you have a shot at both prizes.

I wish ret would target the 3-4 stalkers with 5-10 hp That could have saved the game imo.

Sexy play by White-Ra, bad micro from MaNa ;o.

I'm sorry for asking again, but because it was at the bottom of the page I don't think people saw it. When I open any stream on justin.tv, I get the error: Something went wrong: Error #2048. Anyone else having this issue, and anyone know a way to fix it?

Close air positions on metal against Cloud, special tactics might be on again!

Yeah I'm watching Khaldor, but it was just in general, because I've had it for like 3 days now so I can't watch stuff like White-Ra & Grubby =(. If anyone knows a fix I'd love to hear! =D.

So many good players. Loving this tournament.

No Ret knew Mana was going forge FE and you can get an early third against it . If Ret had an extra hatchery he would have stoped that build cold .

3gate void incoming. Cloud FEing sooooo.

He dropped the third hatch completely blind.
Very nice counter from White-ra, only dropping the stargate after seeing Cloud was FEing.

Lol the attack came 5 seconds before stim. That sucked for Cloud.
Also he needed the marines in the bunkers, not the marauders.

Great games today and now the ultimate battle of the smiles: Dimaga - White-Ra!
nvm: tlo - ra should be nice as well.

Del said he had to go to sleep and was sorry. Frequency is updating results within the thread and I think on their twitter.

Interesting build from TLO but the lack of conc shell really kills it.

That attack did nothing, TLO needs a miracle to come back from that.

2 more wins for grandpa toss to be the king ^_^

Khaldor's German casting is just amazing!
|
white ra killed him this game!
|
play 3 games, own 3 noobs, earn 200$
White Ra ftw^^

Germans have everything dubbed on TV etc, no wonder they cant listen to english streams. Really sad actually
|
So before people will start to ask, Dimaga is playing ZOTAC right now and MoMaN takes his spot.
|
yeah, that really sucks, because of that most people with German as first language speak quite a bad English. I really wish i grew up with English TV. But i only watch English movies and shows now for a couple of years, so it's ok^^
|

In any case Khaldor is a much better caster in German.
btw learning english in school is perfectly sufficient to speak decent english. It enabled me to write scientific publications in English.
People that claim otherwise were just bad at school.

Game 10 (Dimaga would rather play ZOTAC, so he is removed from our event, and MoMaN is taking his spot.)

Yeah, really nice hold, Moman was so close on a couple of occasions but either failed to push at the right time or kept banging his roach's head against the forcefields for too long instead of backing off.
good game.

WhiteRa dominating today

holy shit, whitera amazing!! Moman also through that game a bit away though, however happy white-ra won!!
Now gogogogogogog GRUBBY!!!!!
|
wow Moman threw that game away, took the fight with burrow, burrow movement and +1 attack 20 secs away >.<
|
Haha, what a crazy game ^^
The final game of today will see the winner walking away with $100. White-Ra already has $200 secured for having the biggest win streak.
White-Ra <Scrap Station> Grubby
|
I guess Grubby wants a 4gate war because the matchup is so volatile right now.
|
moman showing you can do a roach ling push, fail horribly and still almost win. awesome play by white ra.
|
Grubbys Pvp is really good, his old wc3 boss-micro skills are very important in this MU :D
BUT WhiteRa has special tactics, so this will be a fun game :D
|
Even though Moman made a few mistakes in that game, White-Ra still handled it incredibly well. What an amazing player.
|
Grubby's simcity owns him. Oooouch.
|
Grubby made a prison for his own probes haha.
|
OMG that was a entertaining war prism play :o

Funny game :D
I'm glad that even on Scrap the robo player won.

Special Tactisc vs Wc3 micro...
Looks like tactics win.

Showmaster WhiteRa showing us some great games
|
|
Really like wolf's and unstable's casting!
And lol @ the sim city, the game would have been much closer if grubby's zealots could actually engage more than 1 zealot of white ra at a time.

So am I right in thinking WhiteRa won the last 5 games and took home both the "last man standing" prize and longest streak prize?

Damn WhiteRa is such a badass.

I have no words..... white-ra is the most amazing player in the world. Enough said.

Are there going to be VODs?

We're all finished!
Longest streak: White-Ra (5 wins) $200 King of the Hill: : P White-Ra $100
Congratulations to White-Ra and thanks to the casters, players and fans for supporting the FXOpen E-Sports events!
Stay tuned for our future events.

Congrats to Duckload.White-Ra who takes home AU$300 (~225 Euro); and thanks to everyone for watching, playing and casting, there was a great number of viewers!
Results are updated in the OP now.
Some people might find it odd that qxc recieves more 'points' than WhiteRa here. Note though that as the ladder system is still new, I might be making the reward for breaking a streak lower or have a stepped system where you get more bonus points the longer your opponent's streak to make it more accurately represent the feat. Ladder positionings are subject to change because of this. (If you are wondering what ladder points mean, they count towards invites towards offline FXOpen events scheduled for later in the year but so far unannounced. The ladder points aren't the ONLY thing that goes towards your invite as there are things like total wins, etc. but of course it should reflect your performance in the events).
VODs I believe will be up for the tournament, and if not then replays will be released.

Special tactics never die!!! great casting by khaldor!
|
special tactics, what a monster
|
Lol White-Ra owning it up!
|
Special Tactics BABY! Hell yeah White-Ra.
|
woot go white-ra! and qxc got a lucky break all because morrow had a 2 game streak.
yea i guess the points for breaking the streak was a little bit too much. Maybe make the points correspond to the streak is being broken. So breaking a 5 win streak is much more valuable than breaking a 2 win streak.
Cool event though. Will definitely tune in for next time.

The reward for streak breaking really doesn't make sense. The more games the opponent wins the harder it is for him to keep winning. It's mentally and physically very demanding to keep playing like that versus top level players.
Rewarding a single victory after 5 victories with the same amount of ladder points just doesn't make sense if you're going to use the ladder system at all because it is inherently flawed. Getting more than 2-3 victories is an incredibly difficult task, one that is probably not going to happen very much. This system actually hurts the player who wins more. Winning a streak should simply be the same as winning two games or something, making it equivalent to the superhuman feet of 5 consecutive victories over top level players seems mindless to me.
Have to give you and the rest of FXO + the casters (especially unstable) huge props, very entertaining games the casting was great, the stream quality was great, no lame commercials (at least for me). Thanks for all the hard work!
|
lol how ridiculous that qxc gets more points for 1 win than WhiteRA for 5 LOL
the system of this is pretty fail
|
why did qxc get 30 points and whitera only 25? dont know even after dels post.
|
Seriously guys... White-Ra wins FIVE games in a row, he's the last man standing, but qxc gets more points because he won ONE (1) game and ended a TWO (2) game streak.
How.The. Hell.Is.This.Fair.
|
lol wtf this point system is wrong.
ra's ownage :<
|
I dont agree with the point system, koth should award winning streaks not breaking a streak.

Not some people, all people.
You wouldn't find a single person on the entire planet who thinks it's a good idea to give more points to the guy who won 1 game (breaking a streak of 2) than the one who won 5, had the biggest streak and ended as the king of the hill.

Good games from White-Ra and completely broken points system.
1st of all winning a lot games in a row versus different opponent is not easy task at all, and must be rewarded. For example: winning one game awards 5 points, winning second game in the row awards 6 points, third 7 and so on.
2nd, streak breaker score must be based on broken streak length. For example: if player break streak of 3, then he awarded 5 points for the win + 3 points for streak break (streak length = points received).
Sorry for broken English.

big props to FXO, loved the event and all these top players in it. yea got to agree with everyone else here, point system needs to be reworked.
pretty sure after looking at the feedback deL will make changes soon, so dont worry guys.

White-Ra so beastly.
Yeah, point system still needs some work. If you want to keep the breaking streak award (there's an argument to be had for simply leaving it out), you have to increase each game value to 10 and make breaking a streak award half the points than attaining that streak nets a player.
Like this:
In todays case, that'd mean White-ra getting 50 points, Morrow 20, qxc 20, and the other players who won one game 10 points.
That said, thanks for putting on all these events, del and FXO! :D High profile players and good games, we appreciate it. Can't wait for the Opens!

unfortunately I missed this but I'm very happy this thing is happening in Europe now white-ra such a beast. and yeah agree with nirvana the rating system is obviously terrible but its gonna get fixed soon I'm sure
|
Amasing plays by White-ra. He is truly the 8th wonder of the world:D
And yea you need to work on you point system that is not right hehe, but then again who would have thought White-ra would brake you system hehe

Dominating play, White-ra is a hero!

But the problem is that this then has to be balanced with the points you earn from the FXOpen Invitational Series events where ladder points are also assigned. A KOTH streak of Bo1 wins against similar opponents shouldn't be worth a lot more ladder points than similar or more difficult feats in the FXOIS.
BTW remember there are two ladders for this event, wins AND points so WhiteRa gets a lot of points and will top the win ladder too.
Will use this for now, so that breaking a streak is like getting +1 win than you really did. It's not ideal (like 2 x 2 in a row is as good as 5 in a row) but it will do for now, and getting two in a row twice means you were probably last man standing or the streak winner from the previous month for a re-invite anyway. Like I said it doesn't have to be perfect it's not the be all and end all, it's just a guide used in conjunction with the total wins to get an idea of overall performance at this stage. It introduces this ladder idea that we will be implementing more thoroughly later.
