FXOpen KOTHPresenting the latest line of FXOpen e-Sports events, the FXOpen KOTH. This competition will see some of the best players across all three servers compete in a king of the hill style format where ladder points and $300 cash is up for grabs for players who accrue the most wins. This event is set to take place each weekend alternating between the KR, NA and EU servers each time and featuring several players, including those which miss out on FXOpen Invitational Series participation due to other commitments. The ladder points also contribute towards eventual offline events with much larger prizepools to be announced later in the year, and strong performances in the KOTH lead to more invites to an offline KOTH event separate from the previously announced LAN. Keep track of the standings by total wins and ladder points on the FXOpen e-Sports Forums. This is the Korean-based event with players selected from Korea and people residing in Korea. Remember, if you don't see your favourite player here many of the names will be recycled each month, while prizewinners from the previous month will be given first chance at a repeat invite! Yeah Dongraegu would be good. He has pretty good english too, he was talking to people in the chat when Xeph streamed games of him.
Also, Keen! :D

If you haven't invited them already: How bout SCfou for Terran, Fruitdealer/DRG/SlayersMin for Zerg, and SlayersAlicia/Genius for Toss?

No more terrans, sorry skrz Probably going to be 2-3 more zergs and 0-1 more protoss. Will try and get in touch with IM or ST or something but at the moment only Slayers has responded.
Also if the players you want to see don't get in, make a list and maybe I'll make a poll to see who gets to play in the next one!

If SuperNoVa has the endurance, I definitely think he can at least get up to theStC without losing. Supernova murdered in the FXO tournament
|
i'm pretty sure it would be exactly maka/supernova/huk loong streak really good lineup btw thanks!
but thestc and violet can be them too for sure
|
Interesting lineup. I will be rooting for you Jinro and Huk! Hopefully maka can take out Supernova (unlikely) because considering Supernova's formidable TvP skills I don't think Huk stands a chance. Lucky for Jinro being last, he only has to win 1 match to get $100. I wonder who got the last invite.
|
This is gonna be great, can't wait to cast those games! :D

He's played a few FXO events in the past, he's definitely really sick good, especially for being on his military service.

im so excited, and i just cant hide it!
|
hopefully HuK will have some confidence after getting through a tough up and down and start producing results!!! Would love to see him play well here!!

Last player is AnnyungPrime as I went away for the weekend so didn't have the chance to organise anyone different. However Annyung is no slouch and its another zerg on the field!
|
oGsPenis fighting! But for real, I hope Jinro shows some stand up games.

Not sure what you mean? Khaldor is a spec in a Korean server game and he's streaming from Germany. There's no reason for choppiness there.
|
I can never watch own3D tv because of crappy stream lag
is there anyway to turn the quality down or something because it is literally unwatchable. its like crazy pixelated and choppy as hell ;\
|
the stream is only lagging when he is ingame, when he was announcing stuff before, everything ran smooth
edit: lagging is the wrong term, the stream has like 3fps
|
As you can see, it isnt own3D. Because the camera that is on Khaldor is not lagging, It is only the game. So there are some problems on khaldors end i think.

The Chinese stream is the only one working well from me. Seems relatively smooth, probably going to watch it muted though.
|
I've come up with a solution thats clearly not ideal but may make it a bit better.
Keep Khaldors stream on for the english commentary..watch one of the other streams on mute for a smooth video.
|
Yeah Khaldor's stream is way too laggy. This is a good excuse for some cultural exchange, time to watch the Chinese stream ^_^

I tried to do that, too, but Khaldor is like 1 minute behind the others

It seems to be 30-33 fps and khaldors web cam doesnt lag, its just the game.
|
own3d never works for me and I can't lower quality on midnight's to deal with my crappy connection

Yeah, I'll take it though. I don't speak any other languages xD
|
It is only the game, the camera and cursor are not lagging, really weird.
|
|
Is it just me or you can't choose a LQ mode on midnight's stream? Well, on any of them really, but JTV normally has that drop-down menu and I don't see it. =(
Edit: ah, the post above wins the day. <3
Edit 2: ...and I jumped on stream just to see HuK lose his whole army. =(

Yes tried it, sadly it's not better, atm just watching chinese stream with khaldor commentating in the background but it's unsynchronized by 1 minute lol

even worse than the regular one because the audio is also choppy

The lag is only in the game, its not lagging if u see Khaldor himself. So i guess its korean lag because he's located in germany

Wow you really don't like Huk! He' in Code S, so at some point he has done something worthy of Code S - whether that was an epic game where he showcased incredible macro and micro or an average game where he held his nerve and his opponent didn't - it's still proved that he was worthy of Code S at that moment. That's my view anyhoo.

Except, I don't know, winning games, which is kind of what counts more than impressing random people on forums?
Besides, if you look at it like that, then HuK beats himself 90% of the time I've seen him lose. That statement is a lot more true for him than for MMA in those games, because MMA simply got killed in those 2 games - he didn't play great, but he certainly didn't "beat himself".

By the time that comes out Protoss has had ample time to build up an army big enough to walk across the map and slaughter you. Tech all in is the worst possible response to a Nexus first.

have you tried turning the computer off and back on again? :p

It may not be your settings, but SC2 is running in background, you may have some program considered running in foreground, so blizzard games drops it FPS while in background. Because one of your games runs smoothly at 60fps others feels like 5-10 fps.

the more important question is: isn't it unfair for the last players in the list (jinro for example)? he cant get more than 1 win, thus has no chance on the longest win-streak. ofc its easier for him to get the last man standing prize, but that's only 50% of the win streak prize. how got the order of that list get determined?

Sure, but if there was no 'king' prize, there would be no reason for the final player to play. Also these results will influence ladder points for our upcoming LAN events.

Hm kinda curious, I thought there would be more events and the last player of today would play on next time? :& It really sounds severely unfair this way, indeed.

I think winning a Bo1 and getting $100 is about in proportion to winning $200 with a 3-4 game win streak. Order is mostly randomised (the exception is that if I get like 5 terrans in a row I will mix it up to reduce mirror matches).
Also, the last man standing is usually invited back to continue the next week where possible to try and continue the 'streak' and starts first, so making it fair
|
ok, sounds good. thanks for the explanation
|
Hm okay it can be seen as quite okay as a balance between longest streak and beeing one of the last players is found quite well... still, borderline in fairness. Apart from that, it's a great way of enabling such a cool format such as KotH.
About the games: As always, I'm stunned how many great unknown Korean players there are! So many names I haven't heard of before are amongst them, and all of them can keep up with the well known ones! Too sad that Europes and Americas talent pools are not that big. When here nonames fight against established players, the results are very predictable usually.

I just find threads with the full rules spelled out really messy and prefer to know them and only bring them up when they are required

Some nice play by Annyung!
Jinro next =)
|
I love Annyung's play, is he in CodeB or sth like that? I don't think I've heard of him before, but he's playing great :D
|
Annyung was awesome in that game, Jinro will have hard time against him.
|
like the first koth, i really like this one
so there will be a prizemoney split huh?
let's see if jinro shows a positive sign for once. he's been not so good vs zerg lately (though i didn't watch his stream if he streamed at all)

Terrans should make at least one viking versus such a zerg play (no mutas) to kill all those spread out overlords and deny vision. This would make the drops even more effective.
Terrans should drop a lot more versus such a zerg play. Constantly. The whole game.
Terran should have produced some marauders versus such a heavy baneling roach army.
:->

:-> i agree with all but the last part, vs bane roach you need a solid BW style tank line - they simply wont break it if done right

Jinro doing a reactor hellion opening, the only time I've seen people take the second gas that fast after it has been for a 2 port banshee follow up :O
NVM, he fit the CC in the middle so it's just standard 1 port cloak banshees ^^

jinro time! jinro fighting!

Hopefully you will tune in to KOTH Europe up next :D

I don't disagree with you. At the last point I was specifically to NuclearfOu who continued to just build marines while his tank line got cleared already.

congrats jinro. $100 to Jinro, Maka (again; though last time he won 200) and Hannibal right?

Finally a nice TvZ from Jinro, completely dominated that game.
|
GJ Jinro! Nice spread on the marines and tanks at the end.

Jinro played a much better game than I expected to see.

Correct, $100 each I don't expect many players to take up the 'play off for all $200' offer but seeing these two are teammates I guess if it is going to happen now is the time :o Maka took the $100 last time though.

Wow this koth was awesome. Nice to see some koreans that I havn't seen before. And really awesome job by jinro <3
|
yay jinro! spend your $100 wisely!
|
I've looked around and can't find an answer to this - how is order of players determined? Obviously the person who plays last has a much greater chance of winning that $100 - how do people get that privilege in the first place? ^^
However he got there, I'm glad to see Jinro's the one to take the money. ;D
|
|
It's randomised, unless the randomisation has a clump of mirror matches in which case the admins will move a few games around.
The last player has an easier chance to win money, but obviously the later players would otherwise have no incentive to play since they are unlikely to top a win streak.

Would like to see the Jinro Game. Will VODs be uploaded ?
|
I find it surprising two non-code A/S players get the longest streak. Both on Prime too.
Oh, also, Maka won the longest streak last week too.

I think Khaldor usually does VODs and he did cast in English this time to have a snoop around his stream archives, but because of the technical problems on the original English stream I don't think a full VOD archive will go up on the usual youtube channel.

please upload replay pack..

so choya takes out a strong player maka, then jinro comes and also only wins 1 game against some no namer?? and gets 100 dollars...

A few things to consider here; I would probably say AnnyungPrime is about a similar level to or more solid than makaprime at the moment. Especially when you consider our last FXOpen Invitational Series tournament where Annyung achieved top3 and maka was taken out much earlier. By your logic, choya took out a strong player like maka but then VINES who took out the player who took out TheStC, was then taken out by the player than Annyung beat. Obviously you can't apply that because there are so many top players across the field half of the players took out someone who is very strong.
Also, consider that the prize for win streak is $200 and choya had a good chance at achieving a long win streak and getting this $200 where Jinro had no chance at all. That's not to mention the 'ladder points' which choya still earns that count towards the upcoming offline KOTH event. Choya earned more points towards that than Jinro did.
