Hwangsin proved to be the first of many pioneers, not just a lone wanderer who had found his way onto American land. Koreans invaded TL Open in numbers for its seventeenth installment, with a many ZeNEX team members and PSW clan members joining the fray. The previous champion, Hwangsin, also returned to see if he could repeat his success.
Not surprisingly it was the members of ZeNEX, a Korean pro-gaming team, that dominated the tournament. It was unexpected though, that it was not the relatively well-known ZeNEXLine who took it all, but the mostly unheralded ZeNEXIceCream who became this week's champion. He defeated his teammate ZeNEXHack in the finals, a bloody TvT series that went the full five sets.
Of the foreigners, Millenium's DieStar went the furthest, even taking down the much vaunted ZeNEXPuzzle along the way. Grubby also made something of a surprise appearance, playing his games from the HomeStory cup and placing in the top eight.
Will the Korean tide continue to rise for the next TL Open? Or twice defeated, will the foreigners now return to protect their home field?

Just lost to ZenexWon (ZenexIceCream) on a TvT on metalopolis in round 4. He attacked just before 2 more hellions came out and I lost 7 scvs or so. I counter dropped him and took out like 10 scvs, then he attacked me and I countered, but his army was stronger even though I took out all of his scvs.
GG well played
Edit: On replay I actually took out 18 scvs. I didn't realize I was as far ahead as I was. I could have just defended and probably won, but no luck.

Damn, I rolled my Round 1 and 2 opponents but got owned by DDE with his amazing medivac drop. There was an area of hope where I could have walked in and killed his army and kill a lot of SCV's or atleast halt mining for 20 seconds or so while denying his second expansion from coming up but I didn't let that happen. DDE's amazing - it's too bad that he lost to Fuzer, though.

Too bad? =P He lost with Viking-Marauder-Siege Tank-Marine vs pure hellions, legendary

Not to mention it's 5:30 a.m. in KR -.-
Catz should stop making out with some random girls at MLGs and put more effort into his training before he makes comments about what and what is not hurting ESPORTS.
So, why did TL decide to move away from UStream and move to JTV? Makes me sad because the app for JTV doesn't work on my IPhone, while UStream does ;>.
Wonder if he tries to play on the fact that they're not playing on their own server, so micro is a bit harder on Hack's part. Just something that struck my mind .

tbh, the lag from EU to NA is almost as bad as from KR to NA

i don't think there's any1 in a disadvantage
My bad. thought this one was on EU because last week was NA. After watching Homestory Cup for two days, I feel so spoiled ;<, TB's way too enthusiastic in my head now haha.

No it's not =p

Did Hack accidentally cancel a depot? I could swear he had one about to finish at x/86, and then he got blocked forever there o-o
Not a particularly impressive game so far either way.

8 officially named Zenex players, 1 MVP player - the other Koreans could just have that as their nationality (i.e. Moonan).

Its especially awkward timing for them to be playing at these hours. What are their practice schedules normally like? I'm sure they must be exhausted.

There was HwangSin, 8 ZeNEX players (originally 13 planned to play but had assorted problems), and 6 players from the korean amateur team p.sw.
usually right now they would be asleep 3-4 hours ago~, only up becaues of the tourney

thanks for the answer. I just managed to find the link to the bracket and currently studying it. tricked me that it was in the first post and not in the op. :-)
lol TotalBiscuit: "DieStar has so many more medivacs...(watches Hack own Diestar)....but there are simply TOO MANY marines.." Apollo: "...Yeah, (upgrades), man..." TotalBiscuit: "oh..huehue upgrades..how do they work..."
When you go heavy marine/medivac style you need to have superior upgrades. Again, Apollo is wrong when he says you need tanks in TvT, but you do need upgrades.

Nice, games played on the Korean server with no latency, And casting done next to each other, so no latency there as well. :D Let's hope blizzard implements shared replay watching soon.

Yeah he's a great shoutcaster, but I do wish he'd just get to like..high diamond level even. Just an understanding of the standard stuff is all he needs.

Pairing him with a player, like TLO is great. Like at DH.

A horrible idea to keep like 10 marines in front of the bunkers so they can be surrounded instantly. Otherwise that might've not been that bad since he was building quite many bunkers.

I doubt Terran will win this. He is still on 2base and soon mined out.

Yes, but he was in a position to win it after being incredibly far behind after that initial plunder

Zerg mechanics sorta prevent it. Unless they whore drones and the other player just..doesn't attack.

You occasionally do with Brood Lords, but that's about it.
I like apollo way more in tandem with total biscuit than with day 9 their chemistry is so much better! maybe I just prefer my day 9 with some wheat but anyway: GREAT CAST!
:/ i don't really understand why both players are investing so much into vikings. i think thors are a much better use of your money because they allow you to actually charge tank lines.
Apollo calling out Hack on not building a turret was hilarious, did Hack actually get far enough over to see the port when he was in the base? Perhaps he thought IceCream had panicked and cancelled for the tank?

looool @ Apollo with the "until she got pregnant" response to a "that's what she said joke"
IceCream impressed me in both series, looked quite solid. Even the 3 games he lost, he was fairly to hugely behind early and managed to make them competitive before finally losing.
Sigh this is turning into bw all over again. Koreans dominate all, I wish thevtlopen was not available to Koreans considering they took 6 of the top 8 spots..... So lame

I didn't hear the same when europeans dominated a tl open, but i guess skin colour does matter

We should not let europeans and south american teams play the World Cup considering they won all of them.

What a joke. "We're bad, let's not let those guys play because they'll just own us". Sorry, but I'm not interested in watching second-class SC2. I want to watch the best of the best, if foreign players can't cut it, then too bad. Who cares about skin colour in a video game ^^
