What is Cybr.com? Cybr is a new project developed by a small group of passionate gamers from the UK. Our focus is to provide the European eSports demographic with organised gaming events and tournaments for a number of titles and game genres. The first two titles we'll be focusing on will be Starcraft 2 (RTS/Strategy) and League of Legends (MOBA), and we'll be looking to move to other genres depending on how popular our events become. Feel free to stop by, register to our forums or join our IRC and get involved in the community we're creating.
What is CybrCraft / Polaris? CybrCraft is a new series of online tournaments for the European Starcraft 2 scene. Each event is named after a star in our known universe (homage to StarCraft) and our first event is titled Polaris, a 128 player Single Elimination tournament. We're starting relatively small, with somewhat of a tester event in Polaris. Assuming we can generate enough interest in our debut event, we'll be looking to introduce great prizes and bigger tournaments for future events.
How many players? Starting small and simple, we're aiming to fill around 128 places for our debut event. There is no skill barrier, and applications will be accepted or rejected on application quality alone. We hope that by offering a well organised event with some great prizes (see below) we can entice passionate gamers who just want to compete against others in their favourite game on a Sunday evening.
PRIZES! WE WANT PRIZES!
If you hadn't already signed up to CybrCraft's debut Starcraft 2 open tournament, you should now! We've teamed up with industry giants TteSports and Club3D to offer our competitors some great prizes to win in our online 128 player event – Polaris. The European online Starcraft 2 competition starts July 10th, and applications close July 8th, so get registered as soon as possible to be in for a chance to win one of these great prizes!
Our first place overall winner will receive a Meka G1 Mechanical Keyboard, along with a Dasher Mouse Mat. Second place receives a Black Element Gaming Mouse and a Dasher Mouse Mat. Our third placed competitor will receive a Dasher Mouse Mat. That's around €300 in hardware prizes for our FREE to enter debut event!
I heard something about a FREE graphics card and a mouse mat signed by White-Ra?! You heard correctly! Thanks to our generous partners we're giving away a GeForce GTX 550 Ti and a mouse mat signed by the best protoss in Europe, White-Ra! It's really easy too, all you have to do is head over to www.cybr.com/giveaway and Like our partners on facebook!
What skill will you be accepting? We're targeting our debut event at all skills and experience. This event won't be a competition where you have to have played strategy games from the age of 2 for any hope of placing top 3. Whether you're Bronze or Masters you're welcome providing you fill out the application form the same as everyone else.
Will there be a stream? We understand there is a huge demand for video broadcasting at the moment, but it's likely we won't be streaming our debut while we get things organised. However, if broadcasters or channels would like to stream our games, feel free to get in contact. We'll be looking to dive into broadcasting in later events, but for the moment we're keeping it clean and simple while we iron out the tournament first.
The dates? Assuming we fill all of our initial 128 places, the tournament will run over 7 rounds of single elimination matches. The event will be starting July 10th, and contuining over three Sundays on July 17th and July 24th. For an overview:
Round of: 128, 64, 32 Date: Sunday, 10th July 2011 Best of 3 (From a pool of 7) Time: 19:00, 20:00, 21:00 (BST)
Round of 16, 8, 4 Date: Sunday, 17th July 2011 Best of 5 (From a pool of 7) Time: 19:00, 20:30, 22:00 (BST)
Round of: Grand Final Date: Sunday 24th July 2011 Best of 7 Time: 20:00 (BST)
The map pool? We've opted to go for the MLG versions of the following maps, these can be downloaded through the Battle.net client when creating a game:
Specific rules or adjustments? Where can I contact you? The event website at www.cybr.com/cybrcraft should detail any additional rules to adhere to, if you have any further questions please do not hestitate to contact us via e-mail (admin@cybr.com) or join our IRC channel on #Cybr (irc.quakenet.org).
Anything I can do to help? Besides actually applying to our tournament and getting involved in what we have to offer, we have a number of voluntary positions available at www.cybr.com/jobs - Aside from this you'll be greatly helping us out by spreading the word and encouraging your friends to sign up too!
Apply now! Applications are currently open at www.cybr.com/cybrcraft and will be closed Friday 8th July. Once you have applied to join our tournament, an admin will be in contact to either ask for your confirmation or reject your application if it has not been completed adequately. Please only apply once, and fill out the form as best you can. See you on the field of battle!
We'd actually not heard of your event prior to launching, but yours is a NA LAN event, and ours is a Euro Online event. We also spell CybrCraft differently, so I'm sure there won't be any confusions. Unfortunately we've branded far too much to change the series name now.
We've had a lot of interest so far, but need to convert more into applications. Register your interest now, we've got a lot of great things to announce before the tournament starts so do yourself a favour and get your application in early!
BIG UPDATE! We've just announced we'll be offering a ton of prizes for our Starcraft 2 event!!
Prizes include:
A Meka G1 Mechanical Keyboard for first place, along with a Dasher Mouse Mat. Second place receives a Black Element Gaming Mouse and a Dasher Mouse Mat. Our third placed competitor will receive a Dasher Mouse Mat. That's around €300 in hardware prizes for our FREE to enter debut event!
This looks so awesome guys! And being able to get a mousepad signed by White-rA aka. duckload, just by liking something on facebook, is absolutely sick! Will most def participate! ))
Yo all, nice tournament you got going... Will definately be signing up. Although just add to note that i accidently sent 2 applications.. because It was late and i just thought it was a registeering sheet, not why you should be a participant in the tournament, so i hope the admins realise that
in the mean time, I found this a nice interview by the UnitLost.Com boys about the company if anybody is interested :

And out of interest, i know you are a UK based company, but this is a european project.. Any doubts whether there will be a UK only tour? at all?
Thanks for your enthusiasm, that's really nice to see! No plans to do only UK events as of yet, but it's not something we'll ever rule out. There's a great bunch of people over at UKStarcraft.net that are doing more UK focused events, so you should definitely see what they've got brewing!

Thank you! We've had a few good players apply, but the focus of the tournament is definitely more amateur orientated. It's a free open tournament, so you should really get involved and see how well you do even if you're a bronzie!
