Really looking forward to that event! If it works with his schedule I might even be casting the final with TotalBiscuit! We've been trying to set up another dualcast since the last one was quite a lot of fun. Maybe it'll work out this time!
Zotac cups and Craftcup (to some extend go4sc2) have always in my opinion never gotten the community love it deserves, already back in beta there was weekly/daily tourneys with 100euro, with not only the top players in them, but where all the known names started out
more love for fine regular tournaments like this one cheers!

Not sure exactly what you mean but the weekly ZOTAC EU/NA Cups prize money will still be 100€/$100 and the monthly final with 800€ is only in addition to all of that
On July 02 2011 05:32 benjammin wrote: proof that this works: i recently bought a ZOTAC brand video card solely because of these ZOTAC cups.
Yep, when I put together my PC I also bought my GTX460 from ZOTAC (was a special overclocked version). We need these cups, otherwise we will over and over again see the same players, and this already ruined some games (like "recently" quake). So, gogogogogo ZOTAC!!!!
Just another regular random cup with no appeal to watch it. If there was something new and exciting like a unused and fresh map pool (MotM for example) it would get intresting, but now its just a recycled go4sc2. Boring.

Glad to see this cup succeed and expand, and it's nice for us to be able to follow some consistent players in this. Zotac cups are very hard and filled with good players, nice work
As there were ten players for two slots with three ranking points, we draw Rain and HasuObs to fill the roster. The other players are successors if one of the participants won’t be able to participate.
So hope Goody will have the Problems with his internet solved, he had to give up due to that in a tournament yesterday. I he will not attend, who will play? Someone of the other Players with 3 Points?

I thought the lag from KR to EU was ridiculous.
I think people exaggerated. When a pro player says "ridiculous lag" it doesn't mean unplayable, just means there's noticeable lag which will effect micro.
But presuming that he isn't, he really needs to let go of the BW mentality of "when you're ahead, get more ahead" and take Day9's advice for SC 2: "sometimes you just gotta go and ****king kill them."

very random edit to bitch about maps given we've just been watching a mirror match
Mirror match doesn't change the fact that the map promotes turtle play with all those chokes, making it nearly impossible to break through for the attacking player.
Wow, first Nerchio over Rain and now Tarson over sC. Obviously the Battle.net European Invitational has done great things to these Polish players. And then we have to remember what MaNa did at Assembly. Poland the next big StarCraft II powerhouse?!

Next? It already is. Sweden, Poland and Ukraine are the strongest non asian countrys in SC II.

Haha. I think most people are overrating Germany. Germany is not on the same level like the aforementioned countrys. Goody will never win a big tournament due to his limited abilities. Inuh, Insolence, Delphi, Rmdx haven't shown decent international results and are not playing enough. TLO is more a celebrity than a player. Darkforce, Xlord, Socke and HasuObs are very good but not at the highest foreigner level. Socke and HasuObs are the players with the greatest potential, but they are not practicing enough.
I am really looking foward to tonight! The Grid is now online at http://sc2finals.zotac-cup.com/. There might be some changes if players are not showing up.

also, roof is a german zerg which is not exactly new.
I also haven't heard of him before :3
He was really on fire, about to qualify to german eps, winning small tournements, but then got banned by esl for cheating in 1.6/fakeaccounts (most 1.6 disagree with this ban) und then stated not to play anymore sc2(or not on a highlevel) but recently started to win some tournements and had some impressive wins.
I feel like this game shows why brutal blue flame drops are important late game (dynamic movements, punishes overextension and slow armies). Makes me wonder if making armory a prerequisite for blue flame wouldn't have been more interesting than cutting its damage in half.

yep. All games Bo3 and the final Bo5. Starting with the semifinals, each game will be played successivly, so you won't miss any of the action Khaldor won't be casting this time because he is preparing for Korea.
Grid will be up right before the event starts and maybe some players have to be replaced by one of the successors
Man, i was just recommending the third set between Nerchio and roof to my friends as an example of a good macro ZvZ. And then Nerchio decided to lose the game...
I'm curious about his decision to defend against muta with just infestors and some queens. Why no hydras?
Monthly Final October will be played at Wednesday, Nov 09 5:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00). The final list of participants and successors will be announced the upcoming week. So there is still a chance to get some points for the ranking this weekend in the ZOTAC EU and ZOTAC NA Cup - http://www.zotac-cup.com/
On Wednesday, Nov 09 5:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) the ZOTAC StarCraft II Monthly Final October will take place on the European Battle.Net server. During the weekly ZOTAC EU & NA Cups players had the chance to gather ranking points to receive an invite for this tournament and they will compete in a Single Elimination (Bo3) bracket for 800€ prize money in total.
Khaldor, You're great caster, thank You for your job. Is there a site where your schedule, plans and infos are? Not in Twitter format but normal info-site.
Although I'm from germany, i like your english cast more than the german cast. Casting in english just draws more people onto the stream. Nice casting so far and great games!

He's clearly frustrated because the new emp patch didn't do shit, all infestors still got destroyed in a blink of an eye and broodlords vanished as usual.
On November 10 2011 05:03 NeonFox wrote: Ghosts are pretty good.
I'm convinced that Ghosts are the way to go late game, never ever need vikings honestly. With 15+ ghosts there's infinite snipes at your disposal. EMP blankets as well ez.
TvZ seems to go into half map vs half map so often now. With zerg not dying to any midgame attack, and zerg unable to attack a fortify terran, there's a stalemate until someone make a bad decision. They could both sit there not attacking forever. If nerchio attack, he lose everything, if Happy move out, he will be caught unsiege and die.
I think you have to give the game to Happy, because otherwise its possible for players to drop in order to gain a re-game from a bad position.
Drops happen, ya they suck, but the only fair long term thing to do is to ensure that it can't be abused by players when they don't like their situation, and the only way to ensure that is to have drops count. Drops should happen equally for all parties, but if you let admins decide you bring bias into play.
If the competition was valued over the casting and the viewers, we would see this, but because its an advertising driven business, we get a re-game.
Some players will take advantage of this at certain "big" moments.
Last thing I'll remark - Idra recently quit against Nerchio in an online tournement after losing the first game. Idra later said, when asked about it that he didn't like to play against Nerchio online.
Just an idea, what if the Zerg-player would make like 100 spinecrawlers, unburrow them and move them across the T army with the rest of the army following? Would the tanks and marines auto-focus on the spines first? has anyone tried this?

Unrooted spines have less aggro then units and they move to slow off creep for this to work.

Ya, he could have unplugged when has was on 3 base and Nerchio on 5 before the attacks. He was at a slight dis-advantage only then, but still behind.
Happy acted like a pro though.
Having your computer turn off in the middle of 5000 people watching you play is your own fault and shouldn't be able to be taken advantage of. In this case, whether Nerchio did it on purpose or not is irrelevant, because he gained an advantage from it happening.

There is no way for any of us to know if his computer really shut down, stuff like this happens. But anyways game should be given to Happy since there is always the possibility for an opponent to pull the plug. Plus it must break your morale when a 40mn macro game where you had an advantage suddenly means nothing.
I don't mean to balance whine but in the 40min game happy was clearly ahead with the 30+ ghosts with mass energy. Game should have gone to him, now I'm sad.

Maybe TL could check their logs and see if their Nerchio user had an page loads or IP hits from Nerchio's account while his computer was supposedly down.
Or the admins in future could make the guy who dropped turn on a stream of his PC and show the crash in the error logs. He could have just pulled the electrical plus though, and there would be a crash....
But ya can't really prove it, the fact is they show the re-game because the viewer wants to see a re-game... but as a viewer I'm pissed because what I wanted to see what max BL/Infestor vs Ghost/Tank/Thor on half map.
Nerchio, or his computer, just decided they didn't want to see it.
Nice defense by Nerchio, but i guess if Beasty would wait for like 3-4 banshes before moving in he would end up in better psotion, perhaps winnig stright away.

i don't think so, because nerchio did scout it and allready was preparing for the push.
The ZOTAC Monthly Final November will be played on Wednesday, Dec 21 5:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00). Streams will be announced shortly but for now here is the complete list of participants. Also it will be the last ZOTAC tournament in 2011 and the weekly cups will start on January 7th/ 8th in 2012 again. So we are glad to finish the Season 2011 with such a highlight.

Solid games by GoOdy, good luck in the other matches. Might be a good week after gamescred cup on monday.
He won against Beastyqt on monday so would not be bad Beasty advancing against Lucky. But that they have to play on EU instead of NA server is quite bad for Lucky anyway I guess.
These are the kind of cups that are so important for the growth of esports. I love Zotac and Go4sc2 for having these kinds of monthly finals that come with regular intevals and have decent prize pools. It gives a lot of motivation for up and coming players to win something significant without having to pay a lot of money for attending an offline event.
Keep in mind the koreans had to play on EU server, because NA was down. Which was not ideal for them, though i dont want to take away anything from anyone ofcourse.
