I remember watching EGMC last season and the 2v2 games were uh...lackluster I really liked the 2v2's myself. It was pretty cool watching the strats that could come out of teams that took the format seriously.
ROOT really knew what they were doing. CatZ and Drewbie were playing 2v2 before the tournament even began. It was kinda awkward to see the pros playing 2v2 for the first time ever, and they would play it like it was a 1v1, and they would fail so hard. It's cool to see good 2v2, by good players.

itsgosu feels pretty misplaced compared to some of the other names, i feel teams like millenium would be more comparable to the others, although they may have declined or something.

Gonna miss TL and Korean participation. Last season this tournament didn't feature very high levels of play, and I feel we might see the same thing. Hopefully I'll be wrong, but when the best aren't playing it's hard to see high level matches.
Best of luck to those participating.

Millenium was in the last season and finished 7th if I remember correctly, they had a lot of close matches but in the end, they placed pretty poorly. ItsGosu earned it's place by beating out some good teams so I don't think we should completely count them out.

Great. Cannot wait. Last season was fairly epic.

Teams were picked based on qualification. Gosu most likely qualified, as opposed to being invited.

Awesome, loved the first season (or well, fifth i guess but first one i watched), and the 2v2 closer game made for some really entertaining matches.
Keep up the good work EG!

Happy to see some Empire! Shame they don't have Nerchio any more though

Good luck on Season 6.
Yea.. I'm not too big of a fan of people throwing matches. They really need a better system to avoid that shit. You should never want to lose a match intentionally. There should never be any possibility of it being the easier route.
As for no TL and no KR teams, it's not a big deal to me.

I'm really excited to see It's Gosu compete! Hopefully they can match the bigger teams, and it's especially cool because they got in through qualification rather than just being invited. However, I gotta be cheering for EG. I really want the team house training to pay off.

Going to cheer on the european monsters from dignitas and mouz! Americans have no chance!

Will definately be tuning in to this, along while i know why TL cant/wont participate, sad to not see them =(
Looking forward to see whether EG plays IdrA or Puma as their ace

Really curious as to why team liquid isn't playing. It would have been sick to see their entire line up participate.
|
I would love to see a FXO and TL in there and maybe vile or some more small teams or more EU teams like mill. or something.
But still great to see a foreign team league hopefully it will be as good as GSTL its a great chance for some of the lesser known players to get some fame! Good Job EG

Nice! should be another fun season!

Sick! Gonna try and watch as much as possible. It's hard with the timezones but there were alot of nice games last season. Thank you EG for setting up another tournament!

Team Leagues are always great! But I'd find it even better if it would be a Winner's League.

It's their tournament. You don't think the onus is on the tournament organizer to a. ensure fair play conditions for the competitors or b. accommodate a major, community-backed team's request to achieve those fair play conditions? Unless I misunderstand the situation or its changed from last season, TL wants alternating servers, or at least some kind of Korean server accommodation in where it plays its games. EG wants all games played on the North America server. TL then refuses to play. If this happened one season, sure, I'd give EG the benefit of the doubt and call it an unfortunate situation. But now we're at a point where SC2's international infrastructure has improved tremendously. Koreans compete in every major league and there is a plurality of foreign server accounts available to all major tournament organizers, teams, and players. Not to mention EG itself has just recruited a fucking player from Korea to play as a part of their team! I don't understand how you can reconcile that with it's simultaneous refusal to cater AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE to competitors outside of North America, even (or especially) when they represent the American community? THAT'S why I call this childish PR "don't-blink" bullshit. No, it's their event. You cant bend to all parties involved. If I want to start a tournament for players who's names only start in Q, im not going to be like ok you A players and D players can play to. It's weird to me that ALL the other teams (who also have foreign non us players) did not put up a big stink about this and complied, but TL did. everyone but Tl was like "ok its your event" and there supposed to bend to TL? OK, but I think all of that is bullshit. Why can they not they bend their rules? What god of Starcraft descended from the heavens and said, "EG, YOU ARE THE ALMIGHTY ARBITRATOR OF STARCRAFT TOURNAMENT RULES, AND YOU HAVE WRITTEN THAT WE SHAN'T ACCOMMODATE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITORS, UNLESS OF COURSE THEY PLAY FOR YOUR TEAM, AND NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED TO FIND FAULT IN YOUR OMNIPOTENT WAYS"? It's idiotic that we blindly accept EG's conditions which today are nothing if not completely arbitrary. Why can't TL comply? Are they the almighty arbitrator of SC rules? See how what you said can be flipped on its head? Because it WOULD NOT BE FAIR TO THEM IN THE TOURNAMENT. The rules are awful, and AUTOMATICALLY disadvantage anyone who doesn't live in North America or Europe. How can you even remotely expect them to accept such a stupidly unfair condition? "Oh, if you play in our tournament, all your units will respond half a second after you tell them to. Just so you know. And it's 100% your problem if you don't accept our rules. SUP, PEACE OUT, -EG" EG made the league, EG made the rules. Why should they care if someone doesn't want to participate? There are obviously other teams that would rather fight for that spot, so let them do that. Of course it's your problem if you accept the rules, which they did not, so that's the end of story. It's pretty simple, really. I'm a huge EG hater but you are seriously just making no sense at all. Comply with the people who make the league, or don't play in the league. That is all.
never thought i'd see the day an EG hater remained perfectly logical and rational with the choices EG made.
+1 to you, good sir
