We will keep you guys updated and let you know when we have finalized the date/time for the event to take place. I'm very sorry for any inconvenience or annoyance this has been for you guys.
Playhem and IPL are excited to announce that we'll be hosting a $1000 Open Tournament! The event will take place on the NA/LA server and run over two days. You can join channel Playhem on Starcraft2 to look for your opponent or add them to your friends list via nickname and character code which is shown above the brackets.
*If you aren't seeing this notification once check-in has started, be sure to disable any no-script and ad-block plugins on Playhem as they may interfere. Also try refreshing the page, although you shouldn't have to as Playhem uses automatic live update scripts.

The IGN Pro League is very happy to be partnered with Playhem for this. They have given us a comprehensive tour of their system and they really respond and listen to feedback from both us and the community. Help them fine tune their system by giving them some great feedback while competing for $1000!
|
I'm incredibly excited between the partnership of IGN and Playhem!! >1000 spots?!? This tournament will be awesome!
|
I wanted to come and give some feedback on the Playhem site. I was not sure if we should be posting here or somewhere else but I couldn't find a good place on the Playhem site to send it.
First off I really do love the site and think it's a great platform for hosting tournaments, however it does have some quirks I think could be useful fixes.
1) Being able to message anyone through the chat system would be great especially since you can't see someone's character code unless you are actually playing against them. 2) On the page of the actual tournament you have selected it would be nice if there was a Information tab added where it would show things such as Map Pool, All the Admins (I know there was an instance where I didn't know there was more than one admin so I only tried contacting the one and he was busy), The channel that is being used in SC2 (I know most of the time it's Playhem but I think down the road more people will start using seperate channels), etc. 3) I love the automated advancing system for the brackets, but sometimes I feel like it doesn't work perfectly so it would possibly be nice if there was an alternate manual system that could be used. This is not that big of a deal because for the most part it has worked, but such things where my partner did not show and therefore forfeited, I could not advance myself and had to contact an admin or even the possibility say after 15-20 mins that the match is supposed to start give the user the ability to advance yourself if your opponent didn't show. I do realize this could take away hassle from admins but at the same time cause it if someone reported a false forfeit.
Anyways that is just from what I have seen so far. Again I really love the site and it's definitely user friendly, keep up the good work and hopefully my feedback is constructive

Thanks guys!

Hey man thanks for the feedback! It really does go far and we always take the thoughts of users seriously. I agree with all of your comments and hopefully those changes can be made soon. We're in the process of releasing a ton of different updates in the next few weeks and a lot of exciting new features are coming =D

This is fantastic, I have been searching for lower level tournies but couldn't find them anywhere. This is a ton of fun and the people are great.
|
I've registered and haven't received the email to confirm my registration. I also tried to resend it 5 different times and to different emails as well.

This is going to be amazing, nicely done Neeb - and I am very proud to have Stim.TV casting this event :D It will be Tumba and two other staff casters!
Great job Playhem, thank you very much for everything you do!

I'm signing up just to get a chance to play one of the awesome players.

So if your in bronze to Diamond, are you going to be placed against Masters/GM for the first set? Or is it all randomized?

Sorry if that was confusing! This is NOT an IPL 3 qualifier, this is a $1000 Open tournament and yes we're using this to test our mass bracket system and server capacity for upcoming events.

Hi Everyone,
Please hold tight! As referenced in the posts above, we anticipated around 3-5x the number of participants in the tournament and we're getting around 20-25x as of now. Our dev team is working as fast as they can to remedy the situation. Right now, we're estimating about 20-30 minutes before the brackets generate. Please keep an eye on your email that you signed up with, as we will be updating you on the situation there as well as here. Again, thank you for everyones patience and support. We are still looking forward to an awesome night of competition!

Just to clarify, we anticipated that we would receive 3-5x the number of participants in the tournament (1500 - 2500) in traffic -- right now we're getting about 20-25x (10000 - 12000). If you are spamming refresh or F5, that will not help. Thanks!

Des, our intention with this was to load test our site in preparation for the qualifiers on the 20th. To say the least, that was certainly accomplished. Our dev team is working tirelessly, and we anticipate all of this to be sorted out tonight. Thanks again for your patience.

The IPL qualifiers requires a $20 buyin right? Doubt they'll have any problem with mass sign ups (and it's a good system too imo.)
|
Very sorry for this inconvenience guys. Everyone is working as fast as humanely possible to get things running smoothly and get the brackets created. As others have stated, this tournament is being used to test our mass bracket system and server capacity on a large scale before some of the big upcoming events (such as the IPL 3 Qualifiers) and obviously some work needs to be done/things need to be upgraded.
Please sit tight while our guys sort this out and wait for my email to let everyone know when the bracket has been created.

Are you able to tell us if the people who weren't able to Check-In will get another chance, or should I give up on the tournament? Either way, I'm not fussed; this is just information that I (and many others who weren't able to check-in) need to know.

Well you start out by simply emailing the guy who created a tournament and is devoting all of his energy into making this work for everyone. You tell him "Thanks for this nice tournament, sorry I bm'ed you on the forums trying to find this answer! GL on your tournament!" And there ya go, your out of the tournament this one guy is trying his best to help create.

Desrow usually you cannot pull out of a tourney once checkin is over because the brackets are being generated then.
There is a leave button on the tournament player lists page but it is greyed out.
Also, if you read the OP they said this tournament is being held to test their system before IGN tourney. As it turns out it is good that they decided to test it.
The site seems like a new startup and this is their first big tournament and they have some issues to sort out.
While they are trying to improve things, we can help by being patient.
|
Guys,
We totally understand your frustration. Good news is the brackets are up! Please click refresh if they are not displaying for you. Good luck to all those competing!!
The bad news is we unfortunately do not have a way to add people who did not check-in in time. We realize that most of you we're not able to due to site performance issues. To remedy the situation, please email me at Rdesanto@playhem.com and we will deposit $5 into your account to make up for you time lost. I know it isn't much, but it is the best we can do.
Sincerely, we thank you all for your patience.

I totally understand that the site is new and there are bugs you have to work out. However, I'm disappointed that there wasn't a backup plan when you anticipated this to happen. I really hope you have a better plan in the future.

Reschedule this for tomorrow?
|
Ya upload replay isn't working for me either. I've been going for about 15 minutes or so now... The website is really nice and everything just really slow at the moment.
Wish there was an option to just type in the results or something... Should definitely delay the tournament til tomorrow though.

maybe a bit too ambitious

If you havn't checked your email, lately, neebsaga at playhem.com Thats his email.
I think this sort of thing should be expected from Desrow after in one new casters thread of a review on his casting he replied simply with- "get a new hobby the market is over saturated." Ironic when he himself is an average player amongst people who stomp him in tournaments on a regular basis...

If you play starcraft 2 because you plan on making money and having an income from sc2, ur in the wrong business. Sorry if you got butt hurt because I was being honest to some guy who was ready to throw his life away in hope of making money with starcraft 2

Desrow. SC2, you're doing it wrong.

Are you really insulting a player on his own teams forum desrow? I think its more you're jealous of the fact that you will never be good enough to make money playing sc2
|
Can we not turn this in to another Desrow thread?
Had anyone heard updates from Playhem about the upload system / possible postpone?

Hey guys, here's the email I just sent out:
First off I'd like to offer my sincerest apologies for what happened tonight. This tournament was in fact to be used as a test of our mass bracket system and server capacity but if I had the slightest hint that the traffic we received would be enough to take down the server and prevent the tournament from continuing, we would not have held the event right now. We received about 20 times the traffic we had anticipated and it was obviously too much for our current servers to handle. I think the only logical option at this point is to reschedule the event.
Our development team has been trying to identify and fix everything that went wrong tonight and will continue to do so until we can ensure that this never happens again. Right now we're unable to confidently schedule a date for the tournament to take place on but we should have a much better idea by tomorrow morning.
Once again I do apologize for the inconvenience and terrible experience everyone went through tonight. We should have much more information in the morning.
TLDR: Tournament is being rescheduled, we'll send out another email/post when we have a date set.

Will games for today be counted or will this be a fresh restart?
|
i'm sad to say thisbut this is a joke. really it is, i've been done w/ my match for over an hour and its not reporting. I don't understand why playhem decided to use this stupid ass bullshit system when their other system works perfectly fucking fine where it reads your battle.net profile. waste of 3 fucking hours.
this is worse than when ign tried to partner w/ z33k lol.
i don't think people understand that when you have big tournaments that attract pro players lower level players join them just so they can get stomped by pro players because they think it is "cool" which i mean is a cool experience but nonetheless how the tournament is ran is dumb. i don't understand why people host an event they can't support, plan for the worst(2x the number of people will signup)--hope for the best(w/e you want to put here).

can undesrtand that it cant be easy running a tourny with so many sign ups, hopefully goes smoother next time!
|
I hope it isn't on a day that I have work

I'd really like to know this as well. It'd be nice to know that those of us who actually stuck around to play our matches will be rewarded. Discounting tonight's games would be a disservice to us.
|
Chances are they will create an entire new tournament. It doesnt sound logical to keep the tournament closed / hope everyone rejoins this tournament at a later date.
Maybe they will give you some points, but that is about all i could see them doing.

My sentiments exactly

Any idea if the brackets are going to be redone OR will it be a new signup OR will it be the same brackets with you playing the same people, but at a different date?
|
Games from tonight should count. Don't want to have to play them again!
|
tt esports competition matches are at 9pm EST tomorrow.
please don't conflict the time schedule

kinda sucks that we got to do a redo; but its happens.
i kinda want to see a better report match system because i won my games 2-0 got one up and my opponent wont pick the second game so i can report it.
i know i know its probably a redo but its nice to have it there said and done especially since we don't have a statement saying if the brackets are closed and to be moved to a later date or if the redo includes sign ups
|
The rescheduled tournament is definitely going to be a new bracket and accept new signups for those users that were here and ready to play but unable to check-in due to performance issues.
@Users that won tonight:
I absolutely agree that it wouldn't be fair to have you replay (and potentially lose) a round that you already won tonight. I'm going to do everything in my power to try to give Bye rounds to those players that did win tonight, but I can't promise anything right now. I'll give an update on that as soon as I receive one.

I am sure you guys will sort all the issues out, but I am very disappointed that EG has not been blamed for this yet. Heads will roll back at EG HQ!

The tournament is being rescheduled for sometime next week. I'll be sending out an email as well as posting once we have the date and time finalized.

The rescheduled tournament hasn't been created yet. We're going to give Bye rounds to players that won last night, but it will be a fresh bracket so anyone that wasn't able to check-in last night due to performance issues will be able to play.
