turns out the pause was just a popped off key. laeten moves out to the center with about 10 marauders and 6 hellions, and bit by bits all her scvs. pushes and looks to hit right before spire finishes and bane speed starts. colagirl has a decent amount of slow banes on ccreep , but the hellions roast the lings. after some posturing, the banes walk in and hit mostly scvs and marauders. colagirl,s defense force of queens can't do enough damage. pulling drone, and with some nice infuses, she barely holds off the push, but reinforcements are coming in fro the sweede as well.

Not necessarily. There is a reason why people on Teamliquid half-jokingly call roaches the counter to voidrays. If laetjaen had a few more marauders in her army (or controlled it better against the banelings) she would have won regardless if there was a mutalisk being a pest or not.

laejten with a very soft contain, sieging a couple tanks decently far from the bottom of the ramp. colagirl flies a small flock of mutas around and tries to pick off straggling units, while there is some jousting at the top of the nat ramp. eventually colagirl decides she has enough units and just rolls over anna's force. colagirl in strong control of the game. both players throwing up an expansion (3rd for the zerg, nat for the terran) but colagirl attacks and the game is over. laejten ggs out.

The only thing they could do is lower the bitrate and frames per second. It is running perfectly when they arent showing game footage because there is more static image that requires less bandwith.
However, they should have just streamed from NA/Europe, they still could have send player/caster shots plus audio to NA/Europe and just combine them there. Bad planning, yet again.

the armies come together with a huge line attacking, but flo's superior upgrades easily win her the battle and the game.
Love how they are overplaying all the girly stuff. Had this been done in more "serious" manner people would be complaining about the quality all the time.

dasakura with a decent amount of lings holding the top of the nat with a pair of spine crawlers, hs a baneling nest and lair while pumping out upgrades on 2 evo chambers and adding a macro hatch in the mainmoves out with the lings and takes out the hellions, but at the same time ssq moves out with 20 or so marines and a pair of tanks, with medivacs about to start building. dasakura bane speed about half done as this push moves forward, AND wastes e abaneling on the scouting scv. ssqrush sieges up under the smoke, and dasakura retreats into her nat while her bane speed is about 15s from finishing. ssq builds a pair of bunkers and drops he tanks on the intermediate ledge below the smoke, but the medivac isn't quite positioned correctly to hit the baneling nest. dasakura takes out the force on the low ground easily, but can do nothing about the tanks without roaches or hydras (or even the tech for it??). she adds a 2nd baneling nest as the first one is getting shelled by the now 4 tanks on the low ground, and starts an infestation pit. her upgrades are 3/2 i beliee and she has a 3rd up, but ssq is in a really good position. dasakura runs out a huge force of lings and some banes across he map, easily eliminating ssq's reinforcements, there's nothing at home for ssq to stop this army, but at the same time, dasakura can't beat thterran force. banelings swarm into the main, breaking the wall. dasakura forced to abandon her main, but ssq isnt' mining at all and the lings have free reign in the terran base. ssq doesn't have enough marines to take out dasakura's home army, and finally brings her whole force up into the zerg main, taking out the baneling nest,. dasakura gets up the ramp in to the main and cleans up that force, and looks to be in a dominant position as ssq is down to only 20 suppyly. (0 scvs). dasakura only has 17 drones but that is much more mining than the terran is doing. unfortunately without ma spire she can't end the game immediately, but ssq has no way to catch up as dasakura can just deny mining everywhere. ssq is in an unwinnable position and recognizes it and ggs.
No clue why SSQ didn't just elevator the tanks and destroy the hatchery. The whole army of DeSakura was going towards her base. She just sat there and did nothing.

colagirl up to near max with ultras, roaches, lings, and mutas, but aphrodite has so many tanks at this point that it looks like a brood war game almost. colagirl morphing some banes as both players are now maxed, and acolagirl tries to take on the pf 4th but the cost may be too dear despite taking it out. aphhrodite now gains really good position behind her while some hellions roast colagirl's 3rd. colagirl retreating through her own untaken 3rd and sacs 3 ultras on a bad move comand. roaches though move down the nat ramp and are able to take out all the tanks and thors! colagirl's upgrades are doing very well for her, and now she is the one with a 30 supply lead 150 to 120

colagirl sends a medium-sized force into aphrodite's only real mining base, the 3rd, but aphrodite fends it off fairly well (loses some hellins for no real reason though). aphrodite has a cc floating around and is mining from the 3rd but hrer income is d rastically lower than colagirl's, who is now expanding to the bottom left main. aphrodite tries to take the top 4th but a huge force of roaches quickly disavows her of that notion, even getting the cc in a moment of inattentiveness. aphdrodite campind between her nat and ma3rd whle she tries to build up another mech army, and sends hellions to the bottom left but they are ineffective. colagil remaxes with aphrodite at 170.
aphrodite needs to siege before the zerg army is on top of her army :p This game would have looked a lot different if her decision making was on par with her macro, which is really good.
third time she literally sieges when the roaches already attack her, other than that the games are actually quite decent and the production is fine too

aphrodite nears max again with around the same force she had before - a ton of tanks and thors, but colagirl now has 4k/2.5k in the bank and takes out yet another pf, this timeextremely rapidly, at the right 4th. aphrodite moves out again while her 3/3 upgrades, but colagir l catches her unsieged, ultras have a hard time engaging, and the front line of siege tanks is eliminated but the thors and back line survive. colagirl quickly remaxes with 2.5/2k still in the bank, anbut her reinforcemenst are streaming in consecutively rather than al at one time so she does almost no damage to the mech army taking down her newly taken 3rd. colagirl's roach army has a hadr time engaging in this narrow space, but take out 2 thors with relatively few losses. the line of thors completely blocks the tanks and colagirl has no roaches around the back to flank, which could be a winning move since her supply is 190 to the terran's 110. eventually colagirl amoves in and takes out all the thors, leaving aphrodite with only tanks and 1 thor whle colagirl finally manages to spend all her gas on mutas that should clean the tanks up easily once they hatch. the mutas hatch and take out the fleeing tanks, but slowly as she has almost no air upgrades. the supplies are 150 to 60 and it seems oly a mattter of time for the terran who just had the 4th shut down yet again, this time by some roaming lings.

aphrodite doing almost no mining now, colagirl with a decently sized flock of mutas and morphing in a lot of banes. aphrodite realizes the hopelessnes of her situation andggs.
Läjten in red at 5, DaSakura in blue at 11. dasakura hatch first, and laejten drops a bunker in the nat mineral line off an otherwise standard opening. the canadian pulsl only 2 drones to chase away the scv, 1 of those turned into a spine crawler. the marine arrives at the zerg nat and runs straight into the bunker - 6 spawned lings weren't in time. laejten addsa factory, and the spine crawler finishes and starts poking away at the bunker. the scv is barely alive to repair, but the lings swarm in and eliminate the bunker before it can even be salvaged. laejten building a cc in base and floats her factory over to land on the soon-completed reactor.

There is no benchmark of what is a high level for woman yet. It is like we are comparing men tennis to woman tennis, women are awful when compared to men. And yet still theirs tourneys are arguably more fun to watch then men.
Starcraft 2 is mostly cerebral so there is nothing preventing women from playing at the level of other top players. When watching pixels being pushed around, nothing differentiates them from other players except their gender. To have separate benchmarks for men & women makes me uncomfortable.

laejten's blue flame completes about the same time as dasakura's pathogen glands completes. dasakura runs a force of lings and banes into laejten's camp outside the terran 3rd, but the outcome isn't much for either side to write home about. dasakura does have a more forward match presence, and takes the previously gold middle base, easily dismantling the small terran group iat the xel'naga.

Women dont fare too well in chess too. We wont get a female pro-gamer any time soon. Maybe when some serious human-enhancement project is employed. Nevertheless i enjoy the tournament so far and i have nothing to complain.

laejten's blue flame completes about the same time as dasakura's pathogen glands completes. dasakura runs a force of lings and banes into laejten's camp outside the terran 3rd, but the outcome isn't much for either side to write home about. dasakura does have a more forward match presence, and takes the previously gold middle base, easily dismantling the small terran group iat the xel'naga.
dasakura nearing a maxed army of banes lings and infestors. laejten drops marines and hellions in the main, but decent overlord placement limits the damage. ulralisk spotted, with ultra upgrades finishing. laejten at 165 when dasakura remaxes on banes infestors lings and a few ultras. the terran mech army is somewhat low on upgrades, with a 2nd armory just finishing. laejten tries to move forward to take out the zerg fourth but the zerg attacks traight across the center, bypassing many of the tanks and rolling over the terran force. the zerg continues to swarm all the way into the natural, with decent tank spread from the swede eliminating a lot of the force but dasakura's superior economy keeps her near max and her army is still ramapaging in the terran nat. laejten ggs.

Women don't fare well against men in ANY game, competition, sport (no hate, just fact) whatever so i don't personally understand why sc2 should be any different.

Of course none of this prevents me from enjoying the tournament. Without getting too much into this, women can play at the top level in chess (Judit Polgar).

flo has a very hard time defending this attack, running her scvs aronud for ages and losing a lot of them before finally fending it off. still, she does have 2 bases to ssq's 1 and has the lower population but almost all of it is in scvs. flo now moving out with almost all of her marines to try to take the watchtower, where ssq has 1 and a half full mevidacs. the medivacs are spottet anbut the marines can't quite take them out before they unload. ssq's larger force causes flo to flee, and ssq elevators yet again. once again flo tries to defend with only marines, but she has superior positioning and easily pushes the drop away. the chinese commentators are shouting about marineking. ssq STILL with no 2nd base.

flo finally has some medivacs to go with her 1/1 marines, but ssq's hellions are well positioned. she tries another elevator but flo has marines in position to stop that, and flo snipes 2 medivacs chock full of marines. flo in a huge advantage now, sprinting into the middle of the map where she eliminates the remainder of ssq's forces. flo continues across th emap to ssq's newly droppped cc at the nat as scvs transfer out. flo stims up the ramp but her force is only about as big as the defending group of ssq's. once reinforcements arrive she attacks up the ramp, easily taking the game.

What would you be complaining about? Stream quality? I can name you dozens of other tournaments where that was an issue, so why would it be something special here? I really tried to give this tournament a chance, but all this overly "feminine" presentation (pink mouse, why?) really rains on my parade and makes me think that the people who predicted this would be more of a publicity stunt than a sincere attempt to integrate women into the gaming scene were right. Gonna watch Battle in Berlin now.

dasakura a-moves her next roach army into the tanks outside the nat of aphrodite, who holds this time, dasakura adding corruptors and yet more roaches, but is fairly gas starved. aphrodite has also floated a 4th out to the bottom left main. dasakura loading up into the overlords again as aphrodite transfers to the 8o main, and the overlords floa in to a complete lack of thors and only 1 turret. the drop aren't on top of the well-spread tanks though, and tanks and hellions do a great job of cleaning them up as they drop. dasakura still with a big lead but it's no longer as sure as it was before.

aphrodite runs some hellions into the top right main, roasting the minera-mining drones there, but dasakura has maxed yet again and loads up the overlords. this time she will drop into the main, since ahrodite now has tall her tanks and hellions below. ahrodite unsieges her sizable amoutn of tanks and funnels up into the main, lifting all her buildings works against her as the roaches can now get in much better position. she cleans up the attack but loses way more than she should have.

dasakura now with a bunch of 1 attack/2 carapaceroaches decides to attack straight in, easliy crushing the defending army of leftover tanks. a couple banshees are out to kill off the roaches while there are 3 tanks on the high ground, but aphrodite is down to only 100 army vs a maxed zerg. dasakura breaks down the rocks to the 3rd with another roach army as +2 missile finishes, and the roaches of dasakura are ralliesd straight across the map, ignoring hellions going the opposite way completely as she forces a lift at the 3rd.
dasakura a-moves her next roach army into the tanks outside the nat of aphrodite, who holds this time, dasakura adding corruptors and yet more roaches, but is fairly gas starved. aphrodite has also floated a 4th out to the bottom left main. dasakura loading up into the overlords again as aphrodite transfers to the 8o main, and the overlords floa in to a complete lack of thors and only 1 turret. the drop aren't on top of the well-spread tanks though, and tanks and hellions do a great job of cleaning them up as they drop. dasakura still with a big lead but it's no longer as sure as it was before.

dasakura catches ahrodie's tanks unsieged but thera re enough of them that aphrodite can just resieged and immediately take out the roaches. dasakru anow at a supply deficit and low mineral income, attacks her roaches in again but at this point with vikings landed in the top right seliminating that base, aphrodite seems to be in control of the game. dasakura staying on roaches the whole game seems to be her downfall, as she is forced to GG when the terran mech army sets up shop below the main while vikings roam around the map taking out bases left and right.

I think the roaches would have workd, if they weren't that clumped. If she attacked from multiple angles (and with some ling support), she would have traded well.
Kelly is amazing as usual (bring back kelly to GSL) and Livinpink is inexperienced but has a lot of potential to be great. I think they're great together

colagil still poking around with her mutas, being a huge pain, but flo's tank army is getting pretty huge. colagirl's ultras have arrived, and are promptly scanned by flo who sets up a great tank spread in the center plateau. colagirl has taken the bottom left 3rd and tries to cu off reinforcements for the terran, but flo's marines are pretty well spread to prevent that, a marine hit squad of flo's moves into colagirl's 3rd and dose some damage, pulling colagirl's army out of position. flo chooses to move forward below the 3rd but the banes lings and ultras roll her over. the ultras chase flo all the way home, and colagirl has a huge supply lead. flo has a decent amount of marines at home, enough to fend off colagir for now, and flo continues to upgrade well. colagirl with a ton of spines at her 4th.

flo's 6 hellions don't do a lot of econ damage but have the evo chamber very low.it dies juts as colagirl tries to cansfuse it, but colagirl does have 3 spinecrawlers and (slow) banes so the hellions back off for now. colagirl's 7 roaches have the hellions wary but, with marine backup, she heads up the natural ramp once again. the marines, combined with a couple of marauders, do a great job of stutterstepping to take out the slow banes and flo dances back and fotrth doing a great amount of damage to colagirl's army. colagirl continues pumping roaches, getting roach speed, and starts her spire, while flo starts another cc, starport, and has slight keyboard issue so pauses the game.
key popped back on, flo resumes her back-and-forth dance. by now colagirl has enough roaches massed up to send her packing, and with baneling speed and mutalisks hatching, she needs to get aggresive since she only has a macro hatch while flo has a 3rd cc (still in her nat). colagirl flies some mutas around, picking off scvs trying to build turrets, and does a little bit of damage before flying away. colagirl also adding her 3rd, and considers moving in with a ground force but bunkered marauders and some tanks dissuade her.colagirl still harassing with mutas but not doing anything major.
colagirl actually ends up mining out of her 3rd first as flo lands her oc somewhat late, and colagirl flies in with mutas to take out the mules dropped there. flo's marines are too clumped so she has to run around with them to fend off the mutas, although she's frantically dropping turrets to try to protect her mineral line. tired of defending, flo decides to move out across the map but colagirl is able to atack and take out one of the tanks while it is still unsieged. as flo pushes out with mmm+tank, the mutas try to take out some tanks but flo is too wel lclumped. colagir now has a lot of speed banes, with +1 ground carapace, melee ttacks, and air attacks finishing at the same time. colagirl really punisging flo anywhere she lacks turrets.
flo tries to set up below the center but colagirl has a ton of lings, roaches , and banes, pushes flo all the ay back to her nat. colagirl wisely turns around instead of overpursuing, content to hold the xel'naga. flo loads up some drops in an effort to turn the momentup, and sets up camp below her own main again with bunkers + tanks.colagirl reacts to flo's drops by moving her entire army home, but she still loses the macro hatch en her main before cleaning it up. flo decides not to take advantage of it to move her army forward, meaning it was probably a bad trade for her.
colagil still poking around with her mutas, being a huge pain, but flo's tank army is getting pretty huge. colagirl's ultras have arrived, and are promptly scanned by flo who sets up a great tank spread in the center plateau. colagirl has taken the bottom left 3rd and tries to cu off reinforcements for the terran, but flo's marines are pretty well spread to prevent that, a marine hit squad of flo's moves into colagirl's 3rd and dose some damage, pulling colagirl's army out of position. flo chooses to move forward below the 3rd but the banes lings and ultras roll her over. the ultras chase flo all the way home, and colagirl has a huge supply lead. flo has a decent amount of marines at home, enough to fend off colagir for now, and flo continues to upgrade well. colagirl with a ton of spines at her 4th.
flo's drops are doing a good amount of damage, taking out colagirl's 3rd just as the chineze zerg was about to max. colagirl thinks about sending some mutas over to try to cut off the retreating medivacs, but decides against it, planting in the center plateau. now maxed and banking, colagirl is also taking the bottom left nat. flo now trying to take the center top base, but colagirl chooses this moment to move forward. flo's tank spread is specacular, and colagirl's ultralisks appear to be wandering around ammlessly, but there are so many of them that flo has to retreat. colagirl's newest bases are so heavily spined that drops can't do that much there, and colagirl's swarm of reinforcing lings manage to get out of the ultralisk's way enough for colagirl to push into the main. flo calls gg, and i believe this means colagirl has locked up the first seed.
production is not bad except the quality of the game :/ wish it could be higher. Does this remind anyone else of GSL type of event? music between loads and face tim xD

ssq continues to improve her siege positioning as laejten tries to repair everything getting shelled, but ssq just movis carefully and slowly around, always staying in good positoin. with the last of her tanks eliminated, laejten ggs.

dasakura finally gets enough hydras to chase dasakura's mutas out and retake her main, but colagirl is maxed and banking off 3 bases.colagirl finally decides to move out to attack the 3rd, with some mutas, a decent amout of roaches, and a ton of hydra.s dasakuras' hydras are all in her main and roaches in her nat, so the 3rd goes down. dasakura is up to 163 supply and she catchs a couple of colagirl's units out of position and picks them off, and actually the upgrades are pretty similar between the two. colagirl is teching to pathogen glands while dasakura is morphing in her infestation pit. things looked grim a while ago for dasakura but i guess she learned from colagirl yesterday not to give up early in a zvz.

colagirl is literally at 9k/3k. dasakura manages to engage with a very good concave and crushes through colagirl's army, but loses so many units of her own and she can't afford to replace them while colagirl still has tons of money in the bank after she remaxes. dasakura manages to take out the center 4th but colagirl's huge new army swarms in. dasakura lands a huge fungal but the roach numbers are simply too disparate, and dasakura ggs.

Flo in the blue at 5o, Läjten in red at 11. both open standard, with laejten going for marine first and flo skipping the marine in favor of a techlab then reaper. unlike past games though flo isn't stopping at 1 reaper, rather building more after she build sa cc and 2 raxes, and getting stim. meanwhile laejten is going factory to starport. flo's repaer in the center takes out laejten's scouting hellion, and flo then groups up 3 reapers in the top left nat. a scan reveals a medivac and solid cohord of marines, and after the medivac loads up and leaves and the hellions follow, flo moves in to the main and starts chunking away at the SCVs. ithe scvs are going down left and right, but the landed viking eventually cleans them up (after a lot of scv deaths). laejten runs hellions into the nat and stops mining there, but the marine drop in the main also does damage there. flo has enough marines to just take out the drop in the main, and eventually clear the hellions out of the natural.

both players spend a little while macroing up, flo with a bunch of teched marines and laejten with a mix of marines and hellions. eventually flo moves acros the map and just overwhelms laejten. gg

ssq sets up base in the red natural with a bunch of sieged tanks, slowly advancing forard. aphrodite pulls all her scvs and advances forward, but ssq has enough tanks and supportig marines that aphrodite is forced to GG.

I just tuned in, based on that one game I'd agree but I don't know how she did on the others. There were just some questioning decisions from her that game, including the early tech lab when she couldn't afford blue flame (forced her to pull scvs to deal with the 1scv/2marine poke because she only had one marine).... she blindly countered the banshee which was nice, but then she didn't have any scouting presence. Those hellions would've been so much more useful around the map... force SsQ to siege/unsiege and slow down the assault on the base...

For sure I don't think she's legit. She's barely playing at NA master level if that. It could be nerves or whatever but she's making such rookie mistakes I can't see her being a kor master without Rainbow boosting her account

flo put up a depot wall at her nat but dasakura focuses it down with roaches and runs her lings and roaches itn, flow has really nicely positioned tanks though and with nice stimmed marine micro takes out the invading force. dasakura adding a macro hatch and baneling nest, flo's 3rd oc is done but still in the nat as dasakura's 3rd starts mining. flo doesn't have enough tanks to feel confident moving out to take the third, so instead she drops both the main and 3rd of dasakura at the same time. does a ton of econ damage, and micros nicely to avoid incoming banes. wow, takes out the third then runs away! flo's multitasking is superb. dasakura tries for bane speed, and her roaches finally split up to take care of both drops before flo can prevent bane speed from finishing.

flo regroups all of her marines together with the reinforcing tanks, and with a pithy economy and production capability, dasakura tries a last-gasp attack and GGs when it fails.

Wellm mutas are often used on high level, but if you haven't their control, one misclick might always loose you the game. Not going muta is more forgiving. (but usually you go infestor ling and not roach ling if you don't go mutas)

colagirl now morphing some banes at the left watchtower, and ssq is just starting her siege tech, colagirl runs in with 20ish lings and 6 banes,, wasting a lot of banes o 1 tank and not getting the last bane to connect. lings are doing a ton of gamage though, forcing the cc to lift and taking out all the tanks. colagirl morphs more banes in preparation to bust, and all ssq has is 10 or so marines and a tank halfway done. the banes blow up the depot wall easily and lings stream in, now up against pulled scvs. more and more lings stream in, eliminating the tank as soon as it pops out, and ssq gs with rampaging lings in her base. that finalizes the placement for the group stages i believe.

aphrodite sits at home with 2 bases, tech advantage and econ advantage. working on getting those upgrades up. laejten has about the same tech, but with half the food count - much lower economy and almost no army. aphrodite moves out once her combat shields finish and she has a few medivacs, and this push is really dangerous for laejten. she has a tank popping out and a couple bunkers at the nat, but as reinforcements spil in for aphrodite, laejten goes for a drop in the main! theres' a turret thereand laejten unloads 4 marines before the medivac dies. not too concerned about the marines at home, aphrodite jus stims in to laejten's natural, taking down the unsieged tanks and few bunkers with ease. laejten calls gg, here come tiebreakers!
The tournament has been great so far. The games have been fun and the production value excellent (beating the bigger name Battle in Berlin). The tournament organizers are obviously in it to sell gaming equipment but thats true of every tournament and most aren't this well run so it's great for the community. I hope DaSakura stays in this because she really looked better than the other two. Fingers crossed that Flo pulls the upset over colagirl tomorrow!

dasakura maxed against a lower supply mech army of aphrodite's a familiar situation, but this time she has a huge stream of lings and banes instead of roaches. the blue flame hellions demolish the lings as they stream in and aphrodite's tanks and thors are totally untouche,d adaskura's supply plummets. really needs to produce here, has some more lings but there are so many hellions. roachs are only just now able to be made. banes are morphed but all the hellions are advancing forward, dthe nanks are well placed, and the thors are clearing out mutas and overlords. dasakura produces a round of roaches and will likely attack once theyre out.

dasakura loses some banes to not holding position. the roaches are here and she attacks forward, then turns around. has no solution for this mech arm, supply now plummeting and dasakura will be forced to gg.

ssq sieges the bunker and aphrodite retreats, leifting her nat. aphrodite now has 2 siege tanks of her own right in the cohoke, but isnt spotting well. ssq takes out both those siege tanks and moves forward once again. marines pick off ahrodite's viking, triggering aphrodite to pull scvs out. ssq tanks are doing work and aphrodite ggs. if ssq beats dasakura we can all go to sleep, if dasakura wins it's another round of tiebreakers.
I'm cheering for Aphrodite, but for how late it's getting I hope they don't have to keep going too much longer. Then again, seeing Kelly and Gen have to stay up and start getting really punchy and even more giggly could be pretty amusing too :-p

Just tuned into their stream. Caught one match, pretty decent match. Then they showed a video of the players arriving at the city where the tournament was held. I guess they shot the video because the players were all girls. Because If they had done the same for a normal/pretty much an all guy tournament, that would have been some seriously awkward stuff. Imagine Incontrol and Idra smiling, taking pictures and hugging. Wow, just wow.

We had great tournaments this year, but one of the most memorable for me was Homestory Cup where all players were there drinking/casting/playing, and just having fun in general. It was really enjoyable to watch something like that.
Colagirl vs Aphrodite game 1 starts up with aphrodite in blue at 6 and colagirl red at 8. aphrodite techs to a facory off 1 gas while continually producing marines out of an addon-less rax, and then starport off that same 1 gas. colagirl goes straight to lair with her 1 gas, adding a spine crawler and 2 more gas. aphrodite plops down another starport and puts techlabs on both of them, going for banshees as colagirl stars ling speed.

colagirl's top left bases are down but the 4 ultras she sent to the terran bases are actually doing some pretty good work. unfortunately she has nothing to stop the small mech force ather own 4th and 5th. production is really slow and aphrodite's army is marching across the map. the terran base is in shambles and colagirl is actually ahead in supply now? but has 8 or so thors and 3 tanks to around 7 ulras. colagirl engaging in really bad chokes for her and sboth players are down to around 7 supply. colagirl's only remaining base ar e the top left main and top center 4th, and the main is going down. aphrodite has no mining bases. colagirl managed to evac drones to the bottom lef and aphrodite is supply capped but i don't see how the zerg can get an army that can take on those 10 thors and 3 tanks. aphrodite decides to take out the top base as colagirl cleans up the terran 3rd.aphrodite loating to the bottom 4th with 2 escorting vikings. colagirl on only 1 hatch left while others build, but aphrodite has 3 floating ocs with high energy. looks like this game might have a little while left as aphrodite isnt't being very decisive with her army. colagirl can simply avoid ingaging her.

while aphrodite runs around the map trying to find colagirl, colagirl has retaken her nat and is mining there and stopping mining with speedlings running around the map. aphrodite mining at 1130 and the top right nat. colagirl's army is still realyl small compared to aphrodite's .aphrodite now sieging up the main and this time pdecides to eliminate the drones there instead of ignoring them. still supply capped btw, colagirl not finding enough larva to produce roaches, and as aphrodite moves down into the top right nat colagirl will be forced to engage into a bad choke wwith sieged tanks. colagirl ultras not engaging properly and roaches not spkiing tanks... aphrodite lands mules to erpair the roaches and colagirl ggs! really fun game, series tied 1-1 heading into the deciding match.

colagirl loses her 4th to the mech army but has snuck expos in the top right main and nat. aphrodite remaxes her mech with tanks and thors instead of hellions mostly this time. colagirl has a bunch of ultras and roaches but they stream in piecemeal instead of all at one time. the ultras get good engagement on the front line of tanks but the tank spread is so fantastic for aphrodite. colagirl down to 120 food against 180 and as reinforcements ttream in the same zerg that looked so invincible just 30 minutes ago is on her back feet. colagirl has ultras trapped in her main due to bad simcity a, losing all of her attempted muta switch, retreats back to the main but the inexorable march of aphrodie's mech army eventually forces the gg. aphrodite takes the series and advances to the grand finals!

But seriously, big upset I think, Colagirl looked so good yesterday while Aphrodite looked a bit shaky, barely making it through in the tiebreak. She's the only person I was familiar with before the tournament, though, so I've kinda been cheering for her, glad to see her make the finals :-) Go Korea! :-p

Livinpink really isn't that knowledgeable at the game and stutters a lot, but she is trying her best, having fun, and is quite adorable. She has been enjoyable to listen to. If she continues casting and learns more, in a years time, I can see her being far and away the best female caster.

the first banshee heads over and pokes at the scv building the ebay but can't take it outu. flo stims all her marines but doesn't uite take the banshee out, and flo moves her oc out to the nat as a pair of banshees now come in for sqs, forcing another stim. flo has just started her starport so medivacs are a ways away and ssq is moving out with 2 siege tanks, 15ish marines, 2 banshees and a few scvs. flo really needs medivacs soon and is also upgrading +1 attack and combat shields, retreating her marines down to the low ground. ssq sieges up below the main and flo runs in with scvs and stimmed marines, losing her whole army! ssq now in a really strong position with 3 banshees and siege tanks shelling away at the barracks, and flo ggs. 1-0 ssq.

ssq's army moves out on the top path past th ecenter watchtower and sends a drop around to the 3rd, but flo's main force circumnavigates that and runs into the main.. free reign in the main! but she decides that the huge tank force below her nat is the more ugrent matter and runs her heavily red army back. a great flank catches all of ssq's tanks unsieged and wipes it out! ssq ggs, 1-1 series.

ssq now goes BIT BY BIT, flo was putting up 2 more bunkers dut they aren't ready in time and they aren't a full wall! ssq runs past in to the main and flo doesn't have nearly the marine count of ssq, but she has many more scvs to tank for her and heshe fends off the 2nd wave of cheese.a 3rd wave of marines runs in but fl has enough marines to chase those off as well, especially considering she has 2 rax with reactor and 1 techlab, and ssq ggs.

3rd place match starts with Colagirl red zerg at 12, SsQ blue terran at 6 on metalopolis. ssq mines just enough gas for reactor hellions the first 2 hellions are on the way but colagirl has a spine and queen walling the ramp, with another spite on the way. the drones evacuate the nat but there are banely enough to saturate the main anyway. another pair of hellions drive in ang get1 gets into the main while the queen is distracted, but can't do real damage. colagirl now dropping a roach warren and workig on some creep spread while ssq adds another factory, moving in with another round of 7 hellions. the queen blocks the main ramp but the hellions move behind the mineral line ta the nat and end up killing almost all the drones that were there. great damage by ssq, she now has the worker lead.

ssq now adding stim, marauders and tanks, knowing that colagirl will have gone roaches, while the zeg player finishes her baneling nest shortly after her lair starts. ssq takes her nat and starts siege about the same time, eliminating a scouting ling that did see the nat going down. colagirl continues droning hard. ssq movses out with 15ish marines and 1 tank, getting to the creep just as siege finishes. colagirl has slow banes on creep, some lings, and some roaches, and the banes get good contact on the marines but the 2nd tank arriving forces the roaches to retreat shortly after they take out the first tank. colagirl moves a spine crawler above the ramp, and queens and unit reinforcements for colagirl end the push. spire on the way for colagirl , and her macro hatch is finishing as she starts +1 air attack and roach speed. ssq puts down a reactor, starport, and ebay as colagirl takes her 3rd.

colagirl's first flock of mutas flies into ssq's base and takes out both refineries there... scratch that, the marines arrive in time just barely to save the 2nd. colagirl moves her mutas around to the other side, in perfect position to spot a fully loaded dropship taht quickly perishis. bane speed finishing and ?2 air attack starting for colagirl as the infestation pit finishes. colagirl now has mutas running rampant in the main. ssq sends a few marines back but the upgraded mutas overwhilem them and ssq is forced to turn her army back to chase away the mutas. colagirl with a sizable harvester lead, 60ish to 35ish. ssq moves out to the bottom watchtower again, and colagirl's creep spread is a bit lacking - should cover below the left main by now. she moves forward despite any creep, getting the unsieged tanks and chasing all the marines back. some vice marine spread delays the damage but can't stop colagirl's army, and as the zerg swarms into the nat, ssq tries some last-gasp defense with newly spawned marines but is forced to gg when they die. colagirl takes the first match!

flo sets up again in her old position but the marauders on the high ground are doing a good job of keeping the tank count limited, and flo doesn't even really need the scvs she pulled - probably losst them needlessly to a fleet of hellions. the hellions run around outsid ethe nat but a bunker with marauders scare them off. this time aphrodite positions her next tank further away from the high ground but marauders still take it out. flo on 2 bases and about 40 scvs to aphrodite's 25 and just starting nat, despite having sacced scvs multiple times. flo pulling marines to save her barracks and stimming forward some marauders to keep the tank count low. doing a great job of preventing the critical mass of tanks, but a serious force of hellions is starting to build up. flo sees them move in and evacuates the nat, and the hellions for some reason stay on the low ground? can flo set up a wall and defend it from the siege tanks?

aphrodiet starts building a wall with her cc, and as her medvacs start to pop out she loads up 4 marauders. a viking pushes away the scouting barracks, and flo drops marauders in the main of aphroidte,s but the korean runs her huge hellon fource into flo's main. there are too many marauders for that attack to work, and she retreast to the saftey of her tanks. flo not really mining, not sure why. sets up adrop on the ntanks with marauders and marines, , but now the hellions move into the scv line while all hte infantry are away. its' a scv massacre, and flo can't produce fast enough to keep up with aphrodite's army. her tank count nnever got really high but the steady flow of hellions was able to wreak enough havoc that flo had to gg. 1-0 aphrodite.

flo now loading up some marine drops but aphrodite's tank and turret coverage seems to be good, but aphroidet finds the sweet spot to drop in and take out 2 tanks, a nice trade for 8 marines since the medivac got away. aphrodite scans flos' contain and decides to move out with a huge sieg e and unsiege, and the pdd is doing great work. aphrodite loses all he rhellions but retains all her tanks, and flo stims forward on thnext unsiege but there are like 15 tanks so flo has to retreat again and regroup. aphrodite has decided the time is now and pushes across the map, and flo is engaging only piecemeal. the blue flame hellions nip at the infantry but flo doesn't quite have a grasp on where the tanks are siged. now escaping around the side she'll probably try to set up af flank but it will take so long and aphrodite has agood amoutn of tanklanded vikings to protect the tanks. with aphrodite pushing into the nat things look dire for fl, and after a last-gasp push of marauders by flow aphroidet sends in her huge main force of tanks, demolishing flo's 3rd, then as she moves into the main flo is forced to gg. aphrodite wins!

Also wanted to say nice casting by Gen and Kelly. I thought Gen was really awkward at first, but actually her giggly nervousness became really endearing for some reason, and she had some really good moments. She was talking about one of the player's openings in the game, and she's like "I like her opening. ... That sounds weird! (giggle)" Gave me a good laugh :-p
Someone needs to pick up ColaGirl. There's some serious Code S material in her play. She needs someone to help her tune her focus (like she didn't move 12 Mutas for almost half a minute, probably macro-ing?), but she'd probably beat a lot of foreigner pros if given the chance.
The Korean girl won, go figure. In all seriousness though, she played well and congrats. Maybe Rainbow should just turn to coaching instead of playing.

Didn't get to watch it but what happened in the games? I watched yesterday and aphrodit was definitely a level below colagirl and flo. Good macro but terrrrible decision making.

i just don't like how all the good korean up and coming female sc2 players are all terran. i mean the best upcoming female players are obviously the korean ones, them being eve and aphrodite... and they are both terran we need some toss girl up in here to mix it up

Toss girl doesn't play Toss... lol. She hasn't for a LONG ass time afaik. But I would appreciate it if someone would inform me if I'm wrong.
But honestly, I believe ColaGirl is a better player than Aphrodite. She played much more solid throughout the tournament, and the only game where she really played her worst was in the first match of the 2nd day (vs Aphrodite, what luck...). Probably wasn't warmed up enough, and her head wasn't into it like it was in every other game. Aphrodite is really good, but ColaGirl I think is overall more solid, and a much safer pick if you're going to guess the winner of another all female tournament. Btw, ColaGirl is Zerg

I just finish watching the VODs. It was great run for Aphrodite. I think her, Colagirl & Flo are really good players. This is the second time watching Flo and shes a local in so cal. Gratz on getting second. Female Casters, KellyMilkies and Livinpink were entertaining (Myself, watching games in morning at 4AM PST.) Congrats to all the female players. I hope to see more female tourneys....maybe with TossGirl!

One of the most interesting Starcraft 2 events I have watched. The idea of female tournament was awesome. I was hardly rooting for Colagirl, and was kinda disappointed at the results, but it was awesome nevertheless. More and more respect for Zowie from me >^_^>
