StarCraft II Tournament
The $100,000 StarCraft II Tournament at IPL4 at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Official Home of the IPL will have three distinct tournament elements. The first is an open, live qualifier bracket with 128 players and a double-elimination format. The top 8 players from this open qualifier will make it into the Group Stage, which has guaranteed prize money.
The Group Stage is comprised of 20 players: 2 previous live event qualifiers, 6 invitations, 4 online qualifiers, and 8 live, open qualifiers. There will be 4 groups of 5 players each, with 2 players from each group progressing to the final Championship Bracket.
The Championship Bracket is an 8-man, double-elimination bracket, with each round earning the players more prize money. The Winners Final, Losers Final, and Grand Final will each be best of 5 series. In the Grand Final, the player coming from the Losers Bracket will need to win 2 full best of 5 series, while the Winners Bracket player will only need to win 1.
Here is an incomplete list of Open Bracket signups (GSTL competitors as well as a few team-reserved tickets do not have specific players associated with them yet): + Show Spoiler [Open Bracket Competitors] +

This is going to be awesome. Thank you so much for removing Terminus and Calm Before the Storm, it will make the tournament much more enjoyable to watch!!!!!!!!!! The only thing I can bitch about is that TalDarim is getting old and Metropolis is so stale, but they're both fine maps (taldarim being balanced and metropolis being new).

Will GSL bring along the casting archon for the GSTL finals?
Unfortunately, no. Artosis will be participating in the State of the Game PAX podcast, and I assume Tasteless will be enjoying some rest and recreation during the downtime. =)
This event is going to be the most epic, wish all luck to you guys so everything will go as smooth as possible. Cant wait to see it, you will at least get my 5dollar pass
Just wanted to point out, that i really dont like the prize money distribution. First places get way too much and I dont really understand why is it distrbuted the way it is. It basically only supports the 2 best players out there while other top guys dont get much regarding the flight costs etc.. Isnt the point to support as many players possible to get the scene larger and more interesting?
Question, what time is recommended for open bracket players to show up at the Cosmopolitan? I know it says 45 minutes prior to your match, so around 11 AM?? Or should we show up earlier? Thanks.
I just stayed at the Cosmo this weekend. It was awesome!!!!!! Make sure to go to the Marquee after the games. That club will make sure your night ends well haha
The only question I have is which casters will be casting the finals of the GSTL in English? I would assume Khaldor and Wolf since they are regular casters for Gom but it is not stated in the original post
how are the live ticket sales? would love to attend but a little short notice to get days off from work. will definitely be buying the $5.00 pass every month though.
This is all incredible, but I wish the timing was better. I have finals starting ont he 10th. I mean, I'll definitely still watch. It's just that I shoudln't. ^__^
soo...I payed a gstl ticket, and artosis and tasteless dont cast the first rounds, and they dont cast the finals either....what are they actually casting then? I know this is more about GSL than IPL but still...
Aaaaaaah I want to go to the USA!!! Want to go to LV!! Aaaaaaaah tourney seems awesame EDIT: Actually, I will go. I just fucking bought the plane tickets!!! fuck yeah
Assuming even more top Koreans have a chance to make it through the qualifiers (haven't looked it up), this looks really grim for the few foreigners but maybe we're going to have another Stephano. Impressive player list so far though.
You do realize its very likely some koreans may not make it home.. Anybody that has never been to Vegas is going to have a fucking heart attack even without the sickest sc2 tourny to date lol. So freaking epic..

I would think it's similar to Blizzcon where the GSL Finals was on the main Blizzcon stream. At least I hope so... would be strange to take the event to Las Vegas at IPL 4 and then not have it be shown on IPL's main stream.
The waiting list for competitor passes e-mail is ffields (at) ign (dot) com! Please send your name, e-mail, and Battle.net ID with character code to be added.
We just announced the Tournament of Champions, where the winner will receive $5,000 and a full expenses paid trip to IPL4 to play in our open bracket qualifier!
i think there are too few foreigners. dont misunderstand me, i watch gsl regulary, but for a foreign tournament i want the "clash of the cultures" and not a "koreans play a tournament, thats by accident _not_ in korea". with all the invitees its an awful small competition for an extraordinary price pool. where are the reginal qualifiers to make sure every audience is involved? if IPL really want to impress and create emotions and memories, they need to rethink their design i guess.
Extremely disappointed that there will only be two Starcraft II streams. This likely will mean the event will take FOREVER to complete OR a terrible amount of matches will actually be casted live on stream. EIGHT casters and only TWO streams. Something isn't right here! O.o If the extra casters are going to be doing live interviews I am ok with that. I just HOPE that MLG and IEM have set a new standard with having at least 4 simultaneous Starcraft II streams. I understand that adding more streams means higher costs for IGN. Perhaps NEXT SEASON you could add more Starcraft II streams? Thank you!

I am pretty sure that IPL ran regional offline qualifiers across the globe. Yes, I do agree that IPL is the anti-NASL. The Koreans outnumber the foreigners. Mass Koreans is making IPL look like 'GSL West' I do not know if this was IPLs intent but we can see where it is going. As long as IPL makes this a tournament ANYONE can enter, has qualifiers whether they be on or offline, continues to have a HUGE prize pool and it continues to occur infrequently THERE WILL BE many many Koreans. Will IPL ever leave the US and host finals in other countries? I do not know. I feel USA at the moment is the only country that could EVENTUALLY turn IPL into a profitable business.

I don't feel like I agree with this at all. Personally I don't think Idra should even be invited to this event.Naniwa or Ret are both much stronger foreigners.
They could run a World vs Koreans like tournaments but the matches would hardly be worth watching because the gap in the level of play. Certain tournaments already do this and fail to provide compelling games, such as IEM and Blizzard cup.
Sure there is room for change with the way they qualify, but by hosting a live qualifier they give local talent a better chance then those that have to travel and adjust to the time difference.
GSL has already shown what happens when you invite foreigners to a tournament against Koreans, they almost always fail. So give the spots to those that are truely amazing and let the live qualifier determine the rest.

I agree. If I wanted to watch the best of the best (all koreans), then I'll watch the GSL (which I do love). But for foreign tournaments, I like to see a mixture of best foreigners and the best koreans. Even though most likely the koreans will stomp the foreigners but having a good mixture would atleast give hope about a foreigner beating a korean. People like watching upsets when a foreigner beats a korean. And the open bracket will be dominated by koreans, especially since the GSTL teams that will fly over has a chance to play in the open bracket.
I'm not saying they should invite a bunch of foreigners into the groups. I liked what MLG did by having regional qualifiers. MLG still got the top koreans and foreigners too. We got to see many upsets like Demuslim taking down Nestea, Ret beating MVP, and Naniwa's great run. If those foreign players actually had to qualify for MLG w/ tons of koreans in the bracket (instead of regional qualifiers), then we would've never seen this happen b/c the koreans would've won all the qualifiers (like IPL4 qualifiers).

This happened to me at IPL3. I contacted IPL through the website and they were very accomodating. Although I did not get a refund, I was extremely satisfied whit their solution.

They ran regional qualifiers in SEA and EU, but the Koreans took those spots
I have a sweet room over at Aria for the weekend. Can't wait to meet some fellow nerds. After party! My gf is gonna dress up like Kerrigan, and she doesn't even like starcraft...

IGN, can you please sort it with Twitch.tv so that your stream is viewable through the Twitch.tv-app? Apparently, it works for Android, but on the iOS-apps, your stream isn't listed.
I can watch other streams with no problem, such as NASL for instance, but IGNProLeague isnt listed

doa? Why, oh why? - This is going to be so awesome though, GSTL participators there aswell, I really hope some unknown makes it far in the open bracket - Jeez I love IPL!
Will normal spectator passes be sold at the event? I see you can purchase them online. Do you print the receipt and show at at the entrance? Any clarification would be fantastic : )
On March 14 2012 11:50 comabreaded wrote: Just got my VIP tickets! BTW for those looking at buying VIP tickets, they seem to go in and out of stock randomly.
The reason for this is because the way eventbrite works is that if someone is in the "process" of buying tickets, it takes those tickets off the market. If the order isn't completed within a certain amount of time, then they return to the pool of purchasable tickets.
I guess sometimes people think it's funny to try buying 30 tickets just to see how much it is @_@

You can purchases General Admission at the event, although it may be a slower process. It is much easier to purchase online, then print receipt to show at our Registration Check In.

So sad to see big tournaments still use double elimination in their final stages of the tournament. It's just good for the open bracket because players don't want to fly over to the event and be eliminated after one loss.
It's a must for the open bracket with 128+ players. But after you get down to 32/16 players, just go to group play and a single elimination bracket after that. There is no need for double elimination for the top8 players, it just takes away a lot of the excitement, especially the 'winnerbracket final --> loserbracket final --> grandfinal' part is just annoying and so much less exciting than single elimination 'semifinals --> grand final' part.
We have decided to open up a poll and see who all of you would like to see cast the Grand Final of IPL4! Check it out, vote, and show your buddies: http://www.ign.com/ipl/starcraft-2/caster-poll

Hopefully he gets better. What I am worried about it the possibility that a severe wrist injury could spur him to retire like oov, and Nestea is quite old (relatively speaking of course). But let's just hope that he gets better and continues gaming.

Manager Passes are not guaranteed and will be issued at the discretion of IGN Pro League.
Just wondering, when will we find out who our opponent is or what maps are played in what rounds? I assume probably on the day of, but just want to know if we will be notified sooner.
Also, will the open bracket be based on seeding? If so, is the seeding based on b.net ranking?
Thanks for any info and can't wait, just over 2 weeks left!!

If I could make a suggestion, I really enjoyed the panel that IPL 2 had, where a panel of Cats, HD and Painuser would give their thoughts and predictions after each game. It's very similar to Dreamhack Winter's caster couch, and I'd love to see more of that at IPL 4.

We strongly recommend that you bring your own, as backups are meant to be loaned out if headsets are broken or lost at the event. Any earbuds or headset will do!
Question, do we have to bring our ipod to listen to music? Or can we use Pandora while playing? I know on main stages and such players always have earbuds below their headsets, for sound proofing, but I was always curious what they're listening to/how the open bracket works in the same regard.
As a 2nd question, just to be annoying, how is the open bracket floor set up? Can spectators just stand around players playing like MLG? Or is it sanctioned off?
First timer her. I has quest: 1. Will we be able to bring in water or anything from outside into the event area? 2. Will we be able to buy adult beverages in the main event area? 3. Is it fairly common to bring laptop/iPad etc to kill time between matches? 4. What is the food situation usually like inside the event area?
Another useful tips or info anyone wants to offer up to a first timer? Can't wait!

Earbuds are for the in-game sounds. The external headsets are used for soundproofing + playing white noise at some db level to further isolate it from the outside.
I think open bracket isn't too concerned.. so it's just a headphones of any sort. There aren't announcers for your match in the open bracket in most cases.

Not saying that MKP can't win, just that I'm rooting for MMA. Quite frankly with the talent already gathered and the talent from the open bracket, there is no heavy favorite to take it all.

Open bracket soo stacked, especially if you count the two korean teams going there for GSTL finals. Really hard to tell who will make it, but despite me not even liking him much, I'd love to see MKP take it, some consistency would be really nice in sc2.

Right now we are going to ask that you don't use an ipod or any Internet sources to listen to music. In game sounds and music only, please. This could still change, but it is unlikely.
The open bracket floor is set up with roped off areas for players, with space for managers or press to stand or sit behind them while they play. Spectators will be able to watch over the shoulders of players from the other side of the ropes.

I honestly thought they were disallowed at most tournaments already. If that's not the case then we'll discuss it further. Do you play with an mp3 player even when on the main stage?

I'm still scarred by MLG Anaheim, where there was 1 chair for every 4 people. Definitely not an event that took the live spectators into consideration. Unfortunately the IPL4 VIP passes are sold out. Will I be able to sit on something better than a concrete floor if I buy the standard ticket?
Idra is going to win this, I feel it in my water. It's time.

We will also have the players from the 2 GSTL finalists. So it could actually be very close to most code s players being there.
Hypothetically, if Startale and Prime were the GSTL finalists, we would have 20 of the current code S RO32 players at the event!! Assuming each brought all of their code S players.
I think because of the format being crammed into 1 weekend, this is an even bigger event than Code S. In some ways it reminds me of the GSL Super tournament, where all the Code S players where there, plus a bunch of people looking to prove themselves.
The pool play on saturday is going to be comically good.
Now for MVP to win their TL match tonight so I can finally meet my hero (no, not hero), Genius!
this plus GSTL finals and all players from both teams in finals able to participate in IPL qualies, makes it GSL-esque experience. i don't think west scene ever had such a fierce competition at one place, so pumped for it, more than MLG for sure
Looks good. A little sad the you don't have any of Day9/Artosis/Tasteless/Bitter/Rotterdam, but the lineup you have is decent. Try and get a few players up there too once in awhile if they are knocked out of the tournament.
All the groups look brutal. Poor White-Ra. Stephano, who has had his number in something like 100 practice games over the last month. And MKP, arguable the strongest SC2 player in the world right now. Ouch.
just wondering, when exactly is the GSTL final scheduled? i assume Saturday afternoon? i know the players are in the open bracket, but it's not unreasonable some would skip the open bracket and instead concentrate on their GSTL strategies hmmm

Yeah, definitely, but could you imagine paying for the travel and lodging costs if both teams bring 20+ people? It'll be larger than the prizepool :p
Is there possible to get a schedule in CET? Maybe something like what MLG did, where you could choose timezone in a dropdown and it changed accordingly. I could always do the math, but in the moment it will be less convenient.
I just subscribed, and it set up an automatic payment through PayPal. Now, right now I don't have any interest in continuing the subscription after my initial month (mostly for IPL4). Can I cancel the payment "plan" now without it affecting the current month? Seems reasonable, but don't want to risk anything atm.
So has anything been decided about the music? I know there was a debate of no music allowed. If there is music allowed, can we stream it? If streaming music isn't allowed, could I bring like a flash drive and just play the music through my headset?

IGN Prime is not the same as the Twitch.TV HD pass. We will accommodate people who bought 1-year or 2-year subscriptions of IGN Prime during IPL3, but not just any Prime members.
With only 7 players per team in the open bracket, but all members coming over due to sponsors picking up the rest of the tab, I wonder if some of them won't try to cut a deal with some of the non pros in the open bracket. I know I'd try to try to buy an open bracket pass from one of them and offer them compensation for the ticket plus some swag or VIP tickets or something.
If I was a non pro in the open bracket, I'd take that deal, cause these people mainly come for the tourney and just enter the open bracket for fun. I'd trade that in for some korean team swag or other perks.
So this means that AnNyeong, bbongbbong, creator, byun, marineking, maru, terious, classic, salmosa, dayfly, ace, bomber, curious, hack, july, parting, ranbow, sound, squirtle, virus, tiger, kingkong, ssoja, troumen (mb few i missed) can potentially be in open bracket? LOL GL!

Player passes sold out a month ago! Prime and StarTaleQ are bringing the extra players to enjoy themselves, show team solidarity, and to be available for the GSTL finals. GSL and all of its teams knew well in advance that each team would be allowed only seven players each in the Open Bracket. You should help set up an exchange system where nobodies in the open bracket can exchange their spots for swag/autographs/photographs/privileges with players on the teams that want to compete.

But it's possible for these extra Prime & ST players to play if some nice US players transfer their player passes to them, right?
Anyone who has a player pass may transfer their pass to another person, but must e-mail iplevents (at) ign (dot) com with their name, ID, and the name and ID of the person they are transferring their pass to by midnight on Tuesday, April 3rd. We will not be able to transfer a player pass at the event.

Yeah I think this needs to be done too. It's pretty much impossible for an open bracket player who wants to give koreans their open bracket spot in exchange for swag/perks etc to get in touch with them by the deadline without IGN's help.
We have e-mailed our manager contacts for StarTale and Prime and informed them about this thread and players possibly willing to give away or sell their player passes to their teams. It's up to them now to secure any transfers for their players.

Ok, that's fair enough. Up to the koreans now to take the initiative if they want to.

For a second there I was upset that Startale didn't pick Bomber, but of course I remembered he was invited. >.< I'm really glad we will see July, Ace and Creator in particular... so much talent out of those 14 though... wow.
I really think there should be a bigger final bracket than 8 with these types of players in the tournament. :O

So Idra is invited because he won IPL1 almost a year ago? I like the idea of people comitting to the scene over several years, but this is kind of ridiculous. My bet is he will end 0-4 in his group an maybe not take a singe game of anyone. Imo he should just be realistic and drop down to the open bracket and give his spot to someone who deserves it more.

Then he'd be an idiot. No-one would give up a free shot at that prize money.
Cant wait for this weekend, hope the crowd makes some more noise than the one at mlg columbus, with that many tickets sold i can only expect greatness though!

It has a lot to do with the fact that Idra, White Ra and Stephano are three of the four (the other being Huk) biggest draws in foreign Starcraft in terms of viewership so IPL were I'm sure more than happy to find a reason to invite them.
I think the format in general for this event seemed fine at the time but in light of the ridiculously stacked open bracket they probably wish they had done it differently perhaps not realising quite how many Koreans would come over.
This tournament will surely be amazing but given the depth of the player pool I bet they wish they had gone for 8 groups of 5 instead of 4.
How is the event hall looking? I read on other sites that the chairs the Cosmo uses for events in the Chelsea are no better than plastic lawn furniture with steel bleacher seats.
Will these chairs be padded at least? Should I bring my padded bleacher cushions for this event?
Impressions for other events seem to be a bit lackluster.
So just FYI, I have a player pass to give to someone as I can no longer make it to Vegas. Any takers. The deadline to transfer tickets is tonight at midnight.

Try get in contact with IGN and see if they can negotiate passing it on to one of the Korean players who has travelled for the GSTL but wasn't able to sign up because of the limited numbers?
It's good to see that IPL 4 is looking like it will be a big success. IPL 3 was good, but it was sad to see an empty crowd and the open bracket only got like 60 players or so. However, it was their first big event so I could see everyone taking a wait and see approach. Plus the age restriction didn't help either.
Now with news of tickets being sold out. The open bracket being sold out. I hope to see a full crowd now, which they should be able to get.

Yeah, my impression was that it was just being used in the ipl teamleague. I hope to god it is not going to be used outside of the gstl this weekend :/
No offence to the other casters, but can we make sure dApollo is casting as many of the big matches as possible? Apart from himself and maybe DOA, none of the others are analytical like dApollo is which, in my eyes, is a very important aspect of casting.
Hmmm I think since Prime is sending 8 players over, 7 of them in OB and MKP in groups, all their players are actually alredy playing. So it's on STQ who needs spots :D

Just wanted to say that I'm really appreciative for the IPL guy that makes these threads and replies - it's rare to see such frequent responses to feedback and questions, and it makes me like IPL even more.
That aside... I'm so stoked. IPL4 is gonna be the only thing that gets me through class for the next two days.
This is by far the most stacked tournament I have the pleasure to work my schedule around, looking forward to the infinity good matches that await. Make it a good one IPL and I'm a fan for life.
Notable strong players in each section (ie players I think who can take that bracket) http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/IGN_ProLeague_Season_4/Open_Bracket 1: Leenock, Oz, PartinG, GanZ 2: Hero, JYP, Sound, Violet, Curious, July 3: Mvp, Squirtle, Byun, Creator, Heart, B4 (wow so many Prime members here) 4: Jjakji, Huk, Ryung, Taeja, Killer, Maru, Zenio
Holy shit the tournament is stacked, practically everyone is here. The best foreigners and the best koreans. I'm missing Naniwa and the MVP guys but otherwise...
It's gonna be a blast! I won't get any sleep but meh, priorities.

Well for one it's not legal to work in the US under a visa waiver so one way or the other you need a visa to travel there for business purposes if you're getting paid by a US company. Secondly, as has been discussed previously, I cannot use the visa waiver program any more.
Friday is spread over 10 hours and has the WHOLE Open Bracket
Sunday is spread over 9 hours and has the WHOLE Championship Bracket
Saturday is spread over 6 hours.
Every single open bracket game (remember, ther's 11 codeS players in the Open bracket, arguably a much better battlefield than the actual groups) will overlap on stream with the groups on Friday.
And what I think it's even more odd is that they will also overlap both quarterfinals and semifinals from both Winners and Losers bracket on Sunday.
The only 3 games scheduled not to be overlapped with anything else are the 3 finals.

What is odd about that? thats how it should be imo, they cant show all games on one stream and by doing this you can choose yourself what game to focus on or have both stream side by side.
Since TB is gone, I hope they won't let HD and Pain User cast the finals. (since TB and Apollo suppose to cast the finals). I don't hate them but I don't prefer there casting. I would prefer Apollo + Doa (or another caster w/ apollo).

I think it IPL4 at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Official Home of the IPL will be great, and I'm really disappointed that I will be away, and won't be able to catch any of the action there at IPL4 at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Official Home of the IPL live. I fly out in 6 hours! Can you please respond to some of the above comments about seating and what you can bring in, or this one:
1.) What can you bring in? Coolers, drinks, food, etc., or do I need to sneak in a flask =) 2.) Seating? I'm guessing you don't want people bringing folding chairs...but I'm not dropping this much money on a vegas trip to re-live MLG Dalles. I thought it was going to be auditorium style seating, but the pic of the open floor has me concerned.
Sorry for the late ruling, but due to the amount of people that will be attending and the concern for available viewing space, we are NOT allowing fold-up chairs, coolers, or other large items.
Also, we have gone with the decision to remove our 1080p / 30 fps option in favor of 720p / 60 fps. Throughout our testing this week we have discovered that it will be too risky to go forward with 1080p for this event. On the bright side, with 720p / 60 fps, it means that every resolution under 720p will also be at 60 fps, whereas if we had 1080p / 30 fps, all other resolutions would only be available at 30 fps. We hope that you understand, but if not, we will offer refunds to those who have purchased HD subscriptions for this month. Send your TwitchTV username to iplsubscription (at) gmail (dot) com if you will require a refund.
Thank you for your understanding! We are all working very hard here in Las Vegas to bring you an amazing, unforgettable event. =)

Is there a lot of difference between 720/60fps and 1080/30fps? Anyway no problem for me
There have been more tickets sold than actual chairs placed in the main stage area. If seating and crowding become issues, there are some options available to us for more viewing areas or more seats. We won't know for sure what will be necessary until the crowd actually shows up! =)

We're just a bit nervous since we got burned pretty bad at MLG Anaheim, where there were only a couple hundred seats for a few thousand people. I'm sure you guys run a better tournament than them, I just hope you understand our concern. Thanks again!

I got sick and can't make it to vegas this weekend anymore so I have an extra ticket. I tried emailing iplevents about it but apparently there are no refunds? Seems like someone else could put it to good use. I was told I could transfer it to someone else so that may be an option if a refund isn't!
Everything looks great about this tournament except the casting lineup is a bit weak. Day9, Artosis, Tasteless, Bitter, Rotterdam, Totalbiscuit, all missing.
Did they try and get Husky in there? He'd be a decent TotalBiscuit sub for the play-by-play energetic caster. I bet he'd be good with Apollo.
Have subbed for this! IPL really deserves the community's support. Cannot wait, keeping away from spoilering everything while I watch the VODs may be tough though .
It's amazing to see how the ipl came from a not very known tournament to one of the most hyped tournaments of the year. Everything thanks to the great production team and good decisions from the leaders.

I wonder when IPL will make their day 1 thread, at least I presume they plan to do one? >_>
Your welcome
Well they made their own calendar event (I actually had mine ready since a few weeks ago, but a question of how the top-8 from the open bracket would be seeded into day 2's group play kept me from putting it up), so im guessing they are making their own.. The user submitted ones are usually better though, as results are updated etc. - I won't expect any IPL staff has the time to sit and edit a thread.. Maybe you should do one?

I would, but I won't be able to stay up for all the games anyway which would defeat the point haha =p

Yeah, I know what you mean.. Same for me really, its quite the commitment to make for someone not in the local timezone T.T
Hello Guys, I can't pay with PayPal. Theres always the Error that the Payment cannot be done at the moment, directly after I logged in. I already tried it with 2 PayPal Accounts. In don't have a Creditcard, so how can I pay? :/
I really miss the early international SC2 tournaments that weren't filled to bursting with koreans. They win pretty much all the tournaments, and apart from MC they add zero color (which is half the deal for a sports imo).
It's like putting FC Barcelona into every single football league around. Sure they're better, but it's not fun to watch them rape everyone, everywhere.
I made a quick sample OP if anyone feels like making a LR. I *should* be able to LR if noone else can, might be away for an hour or two, but am happy to PM someone my password for them to update in the meantime
If a thread isn't up in a few hours, I'll post this. Any comment/feedback?

Looks great, I'd suggest posting it up and if IPL do want to maintain their own thread they can do so and a mod can close yours (you've already done the hard work either way haha), otherwise let's get this hype ball rolling =D
Hi German fans, they responded in the HD stream information thread in sc2 general since that was a more specific topic.

In the same thread you can find lots of people helping each other out by buying the pass for people who can't and having the cash paid to them instead. Pretty sure you can find someone who'll help you work around the unfortunate issue in there =)
