Poor Illusion :p I'll be excited to see a Naniwa/Thorzain rematch though :D

Naniwa will destroy Illusion
can't wait for naniwa vs thorzain.

According to that, if someone seeded in round 1 wins, they get $1100. If someone from round 2 wins, they get $1000.

why do some players start in round 2? were their prelims or something?

IMO, If anything, the 8 other players should be getting compensation, since they were guinea pigs/practice partners for the first 2 days of the event
|
Looking forward to it. Puma vs Naniwa finals go.
|
can't wait to see Illusion bust out some mech tvp... realistically Naniwa will throw him down and kick him while he's down still, this is great preparation for all players for MLG--- i just hope it doesn't mess them up psychologically against certain players if they end up being in the same groups as players they lost to this weekend during practice sets
|
Looking forwards to this. The events been nothing but great so far.
|
Looking forward for PuMa v. SaSe the most.

Indeed. In the end, JYP played risky when he decided to pressure with colossi. Great game, and good play from both sides.

Nani said in a recent interview that he and Sase have opposite play-styles and that while they talk about stuff they have their own way of doing things.

Every time I see Naniwa on his PC, the fact that he's left handed bored me. That's so weird. :p

Terran macros up to be able to compete with Toss late game-- dies to 3 gate pressure
Terran gears up to defends early pressure-- dies to toss late game

iirc he was definitely chrono boosting his gateways at some point

He was spending all chrono on the gates after the additional 2 gates were up. Hoping for Naniwa/Sase finals :D

I hear making a quicker second bunker or repairing it works out pretty nicely. There are tons of games of even four gate pressure being held off easily, stop whining.

beautiful play by thorzain.

lol do you think a good Terran lets a few HT's walk close to his army and feedback his medivacs ? :D
And in a huge engagements its not worth it, because this 1 feedback doesn't compensate for the lost DPS of the archon while 2 HT are morphing.

Your first point is not really true.. Feedback has 9 range. Your second point is valid, but I still wonder if a terran without medivac energy is worth it

Its a mix of tanking and DPS, but they are definitely more important for dps, since chargelots are the real tanks. (bonus damage against bio and splash)

Stim a few mm and kill the HT=no problem...maybe in diamond league you can do this stuff, but even then spending those extra APM on something else would be better and its just way too risky.

rofl ye right lets count +2 ship weapons as a +2 upgrade advantage... pretty sure those +2 vikings really made a difference against naniwa's 1 colossus. thorzain would've won if he spend a few hundred minerals on bunkers, since nani was kinda allin off his 3 bases... or at least he should build a few raxes near his 3rd to make it harder for nani to micro and to create less attacking space for his chargelots.

I'd actually favour Nani in this scenario. I'm not too impressed by JYP's PvP and I admittedly haven't seen a lot of PvP from Parting.

Meh, this is getting too theory crafty. Ofcourse you move them forward in pairs and morph them right after the feedbacks. If he stims a couple of units, you move some stalkers forward.
But whatevs, I guess your right. I concede

The web page is SICK! All those stats. I hope Red Bull goes for a huge tournament next time instead of the LAN-thing. This is a brave concept but it's not attracting nearly as much attention as Lone Star even though the players are a lot more interesting at the Red Bull LAN.

the answer to your question is because archons take too long to morph, battle will be over before they finish. However you will see some protoss have maybe 2 Ht's left unmorphed to feedback medivacs. But this is only before storm finishes researching. Once it's done he'll storm with the energy instead, which is why you rarely see this in matches.

Naniwa's 2nd place at MLG Providence is imo on the same level as those wins too, just because of the calibre of players at that event.

We've seen idra, stephano, huk, naniwa, and dimaga with pretty nice tournament wins.
However, we haven't had a foreign Terran win a major live event in well over a year.
Everyone ignores that though

Offcourse, the conversation was about terrans, i just forgot to quote the post above mine. There hasn't been any winning Terran besides Thorzain. Unless we are talking about daily EU cups, then there is some.

Stephano, HuK and Naniwa are simply better than every foreign Terran.

Damn Parting had like the bare minimum to hold that off

Ret with his standard overcommital into losing.
|
Seriously, PartinG is playing so so good. :D
|
Wow, parting micro. I would have lost that game about 5 times. : P
|
Ret threw so many Infestors away, needs to work on his micro. That looked so bad.
|
Why would Ret gg? Was there something that happened at his main?
|

seemed liek ret wasnt injecting his hatches or he didnt have enough larva to sustain that.

Parting had way less than enough to hold that off.
Ret lost 500 energy worth of infestor to just derp 1a. He'll be smacking himself and making 5 different hotkeys for his infestors this game.

Yeah, PartinG had really good micro and those immortals eat roaches in low numbers. Those infestors were just derp herp throw infected terrans :D

DjWheat's commentating is pretty bad. :/ "PartinG's third will be defenseless, if Ret cleanses up his units and Cannons".....no shit?^^

You know he's been casting like that since the beginning of time, right?

It's SaSe, but Ret beat Parting, too, and Naniwa is just as good as SaSe. Genius and MC is a bit ahead of NA/EU Protosses still, but nowhere near the Code S Terrans.

I don't get what this even means? Genius and MC aren't anywhere near Code S Terrans but they're Code S protoss, one which was the last semifinalist and another who was ro8? Genius and MC are way ahead every NA/EU protoss, it's been quite a long time since any foreigner has beat MC outside of PvP and hard to say about Genius but he did come second only to DRG last GSL. Both are far above any NA/EU protoss, it might look similar only because those protoss copy their builds and execute them against lesser opponents than Code S players. The best XvPer in the foreign scene is Stephano and MC has beaten him in every encounter.

its specific to cloud kingdom i think. and relies on the 2 gate zealot pressure

Ret played phenomenally, and other players played very well, but couldn't keep up.
He earned his wins; most of the time, he won the games, rather than his opponents throwing them away.

I can't watch the vods of round 1 (jyp vs morrow, etc), when I watch the vods it directly skips to 1h and the first games are jyp vs hasu
Can I watch them somewhere else?

I quit watching after Ret beat Parting, nice to see Ret won, was really pulling for SaSe

Illusion's link to his TLPD in the opening post is wrong... You're linking him to oGsIllusion, not vileIllusion I know cause Chris is younger than that AND he looks different

Can anyone recommend me some of Ret's most entertaining games/the best to learn from? and as best to learn from, I mean very textbook macro with no crazy shit involved. Thanks in advance!

When it was streamed you could watch the first person view of the players. Does anyone know if there is VODs of that anywhere?

They don't work for me either, just a black screen. Using chrome, tried disable adblock but did nothing.

this, zvp is so heavily z favored, not because of any update, just because the metagame has evolved. Ret gong 5-0 his last 5 games vs toss? Ret is good but he CRUSHED every toss every game, wasn't even close ever
