For example Dreamhack Shakuras Plateau (cross/close-by-air spawns – building blockers at mainbase ramp) is the same as ESL Shakuras Plateu. The new name just adds confusion for the players since it's yet another Shakuras to remember. Isn't it easier, so you can just search for "Dreamhack" and immediately get all the maps available, instead of remembering whether they use the ESL, GSL, MLG, or whatever version there is.

Yeah, but the problem is that there are always small differences between all the maps. For example there are about 10 different versions of Terminus but also smaller differences like cross only, building blockers etc. on other maps make it really really confusing for tournament players.

I think I saw a post mentioning that the changes made are stated in the map descriptions, so players can just read up and shouldn't get confused.

That's good and should always be so. However, players sometimes fail to read the descriptions for whatever reason (like at last IEM some of the players didn't know ESL Entombed Valley was cross only). I think having fewer maps (i.e only one name for each version) is a more fail-safe option.

I mean, pros should know that new maps are going to come around, and they'll have to learn them eventually. Still hasnt told us. Thank you for being so helpful...
