MKP will never beat MVP. Its the curse that ends all curses. If it werent for him and instead it were any other terran MKP would be a multi-time GSL champion right now.

And Nestea. Nestea always beats MKP as well just not always in finals.

Just like MVP never seems to beat MMA when it matters, each Terran seems to have a specific player they are weak too. The mind games of the TvT matchup I guess.

MLG is missing something big with SC2 now. It's not SC2's problem, because GSL has it. GSL does it great. I don't know what it is, but foreign tournaments just aren't coming close to capturing the magic like they should, in my opinion.
Guh this again? So you didn't watch Columbus last year? Or Anaheim? Or Blizzcon?
People at the event have been saying how awesome it was for the last three days just because you didn't hear it on stream doesn't mean jack.
I cannot stress this point enough, I'm even gonna bold it.
How awesome the crowd is at the live event is largely irrelevant if it doesn't carry over to the stream.
How many people are in attendance? Compare that to the number of people watching online. MLG's target audience is primarily those watching online. If the crowd is going to barely be heard, what's the difference between this and the Winter Arena from a spectator point of view? If the crowd, and the hype at the live event are really that great, then it falls to MLG to do a better job in portraying that for those at home.
It makes a real difference. The Halo crowd's cheering and chanting was amazing. Starcraft fans are typically more "reserved", but on stream it just looks like they're all bored and passionless.
Whether it carried over on stream to you or not is what is irrelevant. If you've ever been to a large sporting event you should know it is IMPOSSIBLE to recreate that on TV or on a stream. That electricity will never translate because we aren't there. Calling SC2 fans passionless is asinine when you see the number of people that went to Columbus and have continued to attend foreign events and the Korean players rave about the atmosphere every single time.
That's not true at all.
You can't recreate the exact atmosphere, but you can show crowd reactions, show how hyped up everyone is, how much fun people are having, the devastation when their player is losing, etc. MLG doesn't do any of this stuff. You can barely even hear the crowd and when they do show them, there's very little energy there. Obviously you can't recreate the live atmosphere, but you can show that the live atmosphere exists, at least.
EDIT: Just to clarify, I have nothing against MLG or any other foreign tournaments that I kinda called out before. I'm not trying to shit on them, I'm trying to gain awareness about this so that they can improve, because it's a really big dealbreaker for me. I don't care for commentary, I don't really care too much who wins (from a fan perspective), the live crowd and that excitement is what makes me watch live rather than just watch the replays later.
the magic was missing because the casters tastosis are not really able to pull that off. if i didn't know by myself this was the most important game of the weekend, i wouldn't have noticed at all by the way they were casting. pointing out that this is the final does not count. it could have been a group match easily by the emotions and way of casting, and that would not even be great.
and it's with all the finals. blizzcon: crowd was amazing and pumped, casting was still mediocre blizzard cup: awesome final with crazy games but tastosis couldn't keep up with it mlg finals casted by tastosis: never great
look at other mlg games/finals, mma vs losira for example. the emotions were great. i'm not even a big day9 fan, but he can pull it off.
and this video has been posted before, but this is how casting a sc2 final could sound like (tobi wan):
I'm not a fan of Tobi Wan at all. I find his casting can be pretty obnoxious at times.
Some guy screaming his head off while the game sound/music is way too high? No thanks.
If you watch professional sports, the commentators never get more excited than SC2 casters, and last I checked, pro sports are doing just fine. The action in-game and the noise of the crowd is more than enough to build excitement, you don't have to yell like a moron, which is aggravating and sounds fake.
(I know some Spanish-speaking soccer commentators flip a shit every time there's a goal, but that shit's annoying. )

Comparing eSports to professional sports with decades of tradition is a terrible idea. They have contracts that give them soooooo much money. People pay thousands of dollars for shitty seats in the Super Bowl. I can go on and on about how bad a comparison that is but I think I've made my point.

well, most sport commentators are boring as hell as well for big matches.
and there was no noise at all from the crowd in the finals.

That's more an issue of the tournaments not micing the crowd well enough or pumping up the levels to artificially increase crowd noise, which every professional sports broadcast does. I guess it's an issue of production cost, really.
First off, Tobi Wan is amazing (something/someone that clearly sets apart DOTA2 from casting in LoL for instance), saying he's just screaming his head off would be like giving a Halo fan a video of Artosis going crazy over Nestea - it doesn't make sense and sounds dumb without context and knowledge of the game. So in that regard, understandable, but just take our word for it, TWK is sauce.
Secondly, I disagree that casting is a problem. SC2 (imo) has the most prominent, recognizable and skilled casters out of any pro game. I'm much more of the belief that if the crowd was actually less hyped (I didn't pay that much attention and the sound guys may have failed or something), it would be more that "most" of the games weren't that exciting, and almost all the main stage games went exactly as expected.

This is so true. Aside from the varied styles of MKP, almost every TvP played out exactly the same. Storm storm storm emp emp emp. Battle of attrition.

As someone who actually enjoys watching Dota 2, I disagree. TWK is annoying as fuck most of the time.

it depends on how closely you look. the attacks mkp made on drg in the last two games were super close, and the excitement begins with every decision that leads to the confrontation and preperation of the armys. you can pump this, and you definitely should if this is the finals.

None of the expanded series were close so I'm confused as to why you're suddenly pissed off about it.
I'm pretty sure all the notable extended series (Socke, Heart, HuK, etc etc) would've been the same result if you took away the prior result they were using. The results would've been the exact same, they were all 2-0 or 2-1 and in the finals MKP went 3-1.
