A week ago I'd say eclypsia unless nerchio went on a rampage but now it should heavily go in acer's favour, perhaps we'll see an awesome finnish PvP duel that welmu may come out on top or dayishi and sarens can take a map if they're on good form but unless there's a small miracle they won't have an answer for nerchio. Acer 5-2
|
Does Mondragon still play sc2?
|
Acer wins for sure - just a question of whos beginning for them, like: Nerchio Starts -> 5:0 , Nerchio Plays Second -> 5:1 (and so on) btw - i guess a lot of ZvZs incoming
|
Just a bit too early for me but ill surely try to tune in!
|
Acher would have won before the split. Now it'll be a landslide. Now that a eclypsia has no players im interested in supporting I can say whole heartedly that ill enjoy seing them get rolled like the morning sushi.
|
I predict easy 5-0 to Eclypsia

looks like Acer has this with Scarlett, artist and slog leaving. Hoping Welmu and Sarens put up a good fight.

Acer should definitely win. Dayshi and Welmu are very good though and could surprise a lot of people, possibly even able to take the win if they can take out Bly and Nerchio.
|
Yeah after the split, I would give Acer the win here now.
|
|
Acer will take it, I predict at least a 4-1 the most.
|
acer should win this quite easily, but I think dayshi might pick a game or two

Did ipl explain how they decided to give byes to some teams over others or is it just random? I must have missed that part..

I must have missed that part.. It's decided by how well they did last season. Top 8 from last season get a bye. That's not true. Top 8 from last season included Liquid, Empire, and TSL, none of which had a bye. Teams not in the top 8 with byes are IM (won TAC 1 as QIM), Mouz (2nd in TAC 1, terrible in TAC 2), and Startale (tied 5th TAC 2 with Liquid). IM and Mouz make sense, ST over Liquid I don't get as much.
edit: wait a second, I'm wrong, gimme a sec. It's definitely not top 8 of last season though.
edit2: Ok, it was supposed to be top 4 from past two. IM took it for QIM and MVP took it for col-MVP from season 1. I guess Startale (5th from TAC 2) got oGs's spot (3rd), not sure why them over Liquid though.
edit3: didn't realize, but oGs is still in this tourny, thought they have been removed since they disbanded. I have no clue why Startale got the bye over them.
|
Yeah Eclypsia loses now unless Welmu can all kill.
|
IPL TAC 2
TAC 2 top 8: Prime, HoSeo, oGs, FXO, StarTale, Teamliquid, TSL and Empire.
TAC 3 byes: Mouz, Slayers, MVP, IM, StarTale, FXO, HoSeo and Prime.
Hmm..

Thanks, it makes a bit more sense now!

Oh wait, what. I didn't realize oGs was still in the team pool. Ok, I have no idea why Startale has a bye and oGs doesn't.

Meh, works out I guess considering they disbanded.

Holy crap! Actual news, thanks so much. I've been curious about the next step for oGs in this tournament. And even though aTn is partnered with the whole Type squad did they use anyone but Real and Phoenix in the qualifiers?

Depends on the matchup. aTn is a little zerg heavy (in that half of their four man team is Z) and, in all honesty, I'm intrigued to see their Japanese players play, that is a scene I haven't seen much of.

Fair enough but they'll be up against DtG (who they are tied with in standings) in their first game and maybe give one of those players a chance. I can only help.

With two zealots why even chase that

Yeh pretty much, but even with a perfect engagement he was never gonna win that. Way too few banelings to actually kill stuff and mass stalker immortal is really good even vs a ton of zerglings aslong as u have enough ff's and upgrades.

Shit, Welmu got really good. Didn't think he could take out Bly, and it looks like he gets a chance at Nerchio too.

I can't believe Welmu did this. This seemed to me to be the most horibble decision ever...
And if Hydra just pulled back his third when the colossus army came, he should be ahead now. I still can't believe how you can pull 25 probes to attack your enemy and build a nexus behind that oO

He was hinting that someone told Welmu that an 8 pool was coming because of the gateway expand instead of FFE. He then made all obs leave after he scouted the double stargate when he had gone Spire so yes, he was suggesting cheating.
On topic Welmu played good early then had some very, very bad decision making mid game which fucked him up
EDIT: That was nothing to do with balance, Welmu's decision making was just terrible. Pretty scrappy last game, neither played looked impressive tbh

Complaining about balance when he let that base live 3 times for no reason.

What a weird ace match. Can't believe Welmu didn't take out that proxy base, even when he scouted it.

I checked his match history before going for 8 pool and he went FFE every single game, not saying you can't change builds but that was the first thing i noticed. Then he didn't do any pressure(i can't have speed with 8 pool anyway) so he could go out with some stalker/zealot but he didn't and i was playing pretty defensive like 3 queens + spine so that was weird for me as well. And ofcourse 2 stargate vs spire, not accusing anyone of cheating but i prefered to play without obs after so many coincidences.

gg for acer. couldn`t be a better first day with all 9 games played.

Fuck. Caught matches 6-8 but not 9. Missed whatever transpired. I'll watch the rebroadcast and then comment about the decisions made.

I missed the drama, what got said exactly?

Nerchio 8 pooled, got to the ramp and saw Welmu had 2 gates then said "this is why i said no observers" or something similar, obviously thinking someone told Welmu what Nerchio did (see Nerchio's post for his thoughts).
Then, when Nerchio won, Welmu said "so balanced"

Much later in the game he paused the game and all obs left, seemingly due to nerchios complaining. Then welmu ended the game with a comment about balance after he lost.

I went for gate opening, because ive never played pvz in that map and nerchio likes to be aggressive with early pools and map's rush distance looked like steppes :p. Complained bout balance, because i was pissed about nerchio accusing me of cheating but really it was terrible play from me :/. Id never cheat

Congrats Nerchio/Acer for the win, but Welmu you really did a great job for the team, I am not the only one who thought EC would be an easy walk over for Acer.

Yeah, Welmu made that a fight on his own if EC had dRow, Scarlett, Slog and Artist too that could have been pretty one sided.

It should be in the rulebook anyway.

I like how people were calling for Acer to sweep, it was so close.
