Are the qualifiers only for that regions players or are people currently in said region able to participate? (GoldenLighT is currently living with me). Last time violet won the na qualifier iirc as well.

Under what circumstances am I qualified to partake?
You have to live in the region of the tournament in which you want to participate. Aside from that, all you have to do is register your account in time. The link for this will be provided soon. Of course just one account per player is allowed. Aside from that there are no limitations.

Miss both, because Dremhack starts in saturday so you have to be there in friday the latest. I wish the date will be changed or it will miss almost all the top european players =(

Or if your DH schedule allows you sit at one of the many extra computers at DH and play the qualifier anyways. Even better talk to Take and see if he can have the qualifiers run during the day when DH games are not going on.
Would be awesome to see Snute in this! Need some Norwegian representation.
Hope to see an invite-mix between Grubby, ToD, Bitterdam, White-ra (BBQ!), TLO, Stephano, MC, Idra, Incontrol and all the guys who made the previous homestory cups so entertaining, but also some new faces (like Snute! to mix it up a bit.
Also, to revive some old rivalries I'd love to see Moon and maybe other former wc3 players such as Lyn/Soccer get an invite, since so many of the people involved are former wc3 players (including Take himself!). BW legends such as Nada and Boxer would also be great invitations. This is just daydreaming though, I'm sure the tournament will be great no matter who is invited.
EU qualifers 15th and 16th june? Great dates, the day before Dreamhack Summer starts aswell as the first day of DH S. So many good players will not be able to attend, nice...

He already knows that and said on stream they will reschedule them. Chill down.

Then I tried to make a new account and it took like 10 tries for some reason eventually seemed to work but right at the end I got sql socket exception errors and never got any confirmation emails and it never let me log in so now I don't know if I have 2 id's or 1 and never got any emails on anything.

Looks like some Koreans signed up, too, FXOLucky for example. Is this not region-locked? Positive side is that it enables people like Haypro to participate as well.
Yeah i got an e-mail with a broken link when i tried to register my account (e-mail is mostly in german with a muddled up link) and the login button on the site doesn't work, nothing happens when you press it.

Line-up looks pretty weak compared to the players from the last HSC's and what the KR and EU qualifiers will probably have. Seems like it's Lucky's to lose but I hope Incontrol does well!

HSC IV also just had a few guys qualify and then the most top players were just invited. I guess this will be the same this time, but these qualifiers are still a good chance for lesser known players to make it to the HSC!
in my opinion they should invite an american caster/player in skype or so, because take and monchi didn't really got a plan of the american sc2 scene... and so its kinda bad for the international and also the germans (who watched the show before this qualifier) because we get a really poor cast and no insights. probably they should ask guys like incontrol or axslav if they drop/ or for second qualifie, they are top casters... if they dont get someone its not a good promotion for the upcoming hsc, also the production and prepartion not seems very professionel, kinda pathetic :-/

They have enough insight in the american scene for this qualifier. You talk down too much on them. And maybe they are still a bit exhausted from the last tournament.

Yes, he lives in Seattle together with KawaiiRice iirc
And looking at the brackets it seems like Golden is in an incredibly favored position to grab the first spot, since Fenix and Sleep will compete beforehand and the winner gets Ranged... basically just a possibly difficult game and he should be in.

He gets TriMaster/CatZ next game, than potentially Destiny/Binski and these already are difficult.

Imo the only one of them who could pose a threat is Trimaster, but I think Golden is better.

exhausted while drinking cocktails hmm? dont think so... the production really isnt on top, for an international cast they should get rid off "olli's style", the music between games everytime sticks to this clssic rock style, maybe some variety would be nice. they don't talk much about their thinking on the cup, the whole hsc5 and other things, if they does 1 break fewer and talking about that, the show could be a lot better and the promotion even better.
i really don't know why the german scene doesn't want to go more internationally like khaldor who really done properly, because the german scene in my honorable opinion seems kinda seems "dying", im disillusioned with the renewal of taketv.net and sc2pro.com, they dont got these continuous content :/ im just hinting at wcs german qualifiers :-/ we needed our pro players to cast that... may be im too pessimistic, but that my feeling right now
EDIT: Oh now they got catz, thats really awesome, maybe some of them got a look on my post
something is wrong about the current score, either liquipedia or the overlay has it wrong. can anybody tell me what the right score is? thanks in advance.

They used "Olli style" in the last HSC and everyone liked it. And who cares for music variety honestly? Mute if you don't like it.
They don't have much to talk about HSC 5. What should they say? Most of the information is still not for the public.
I really don't know what you mean go internationally? TakeTV is a national project, sc2pro.de is only a national project. And the German WCS Qualifiers were not supposed to be casted, that they did it was only a nice bonus; if you see the other qualifiers for the Nationals (Nehterlands, Belgium, Brazil etc) they didn't get casted either.

What i mean is why there only going for a national project? got already mentioned slightly in the last state of the game episode featuring socke and darkforce. i mean sc2 is so international why u should only go for a national project? if u can reach lot of more people with that of course u could gain more sponsors, money, reputation, attention and whatever
in my mind its kinda stupid only confining to a national thingy i sc2 but maybe im unique in this case...
I guess that the only one who could trouble him now would be KiLLer, but ZvZ is his worst matchup if I'm not mistaken... Go golden, it's finally your time to shine!

National projects are the foundation for an international scene, simple as that.

Still it's not ok to run a turney this way.
well i guess it's "just " the qualifier and they want to keep that "homestory" atmosphere. glad at HSC pros are casting, takes english keeps getting worse somehow.

Khaldor is one of the few German casters that can cast in English. And even then it is sometimes rough around the edges.
Don't know what you mean with "dying"? Why is the renewal of taketv.net and sc2pro.de indication of dying? On the contrary, both sites promised to push out content more often in the next time. Szenecast was never regulary and I much prefer this over a weekly style. When the show is on, there is always a lot to talk about and no topic or are "forced" to fill content. Szenecast feels more like SotG used to be. Additionally, pros analyze their games after every EPS playday (season break currently). Where else in the SC2 community do you get this, seriously?
What's wrong with the WCS German qualifiers? Two of these were casted by the pros and those were the most stacked ones. And it's a qualification for a qualification... come on.
Darkforce and Socke appearing in latest SotG. Darkforce and Hasu streaming lately. Hasu and Socke placing well in international tournaments. Monchi, Titan, Grubby, TT1 were visiting in the last weeks to train or cast... It looks quite differently to me, honestly.
no he shouldn't i think.. all vikings were dead , golden could camp the startports mass transfuse and the mistake of theo was to go up his ramp, cause now broodlings block the ramp and it's impossible to kill anything with rines in my opp

Theognis' mistake was not to support his great macro with enough production facilities, if he had more barracks he wouldn't have found himself in that final position. The game was almost his...
Edit: and exactly as I predicted before, Golden goes to Germany. Good job! A shame for the 3-0 outcome however, the numbers do not make justice.

There is always a local barcraft at the irish pub right underneath the apartment. That is also the place the players go to if they want to fan interaction.
why are we even holding american qualifiers? only koreans will qualify from those anyways....
i think it would make more sense to do 2 korean qualifiers and 1 american qualifier instead since the koreans that win the american qualifiers are just not as good as the ones that would play in the korean qualifier.

We are holding nothing. Take and his team are holding qualifiers to invite the best players in the north american scene to the homestory cup. And if they happen to be Koreans who moved to NA, then so be it.

I won my first game, then lost to Axslav after he defended my nydus. Never played on Atlantis Spaceship before, let alone vs a pro gamer so I had to pull some malarkey to have even a miniscule chance of winning.

yeah, the latter. when someone from germany/austria is talking in english it's harder to tell because the accents are similar (as they both have german as there mother tongue). but if someone is talking in german i can easily tell if he's from north or south germany or austria.

Yeah, I'd say there are probably hundreds of different regional accents in Germany and you can usually distinguish at least 6 or 7 major groups of accents immediately. The cleanest German, which you will learn at school, is only really spoken in lower saxony, around the areas of Hanover, Brunswick, Wolfsburg and Göttingen. So basically only the southern half of lower saxony actually speaks clean school German completely without any regional dialect colouring.

Unless you actually make an effort and don't fall for the local dialect whereever you live. I like to think I do so successfully, even though I was born, raised, and still live in Berlin.

Yeah, Illusion is really good. I became his fan after Red Bull Battlegrounds, such impresive play. Hopefully he will win this all. (interesting side note, if Sleep wins, he will probably win it all and that would mean 2 Koreans entering qualifiers = 2 Koreans qualifying...)

seriously there are 2 koreans who participated in NA qualifiers and both of them won one to get the spot. What the hell is wrong with the "real" american pros? Yes there were 3-4 of the very best americans not competing but sleep and golden are at best low Code A material...

Wha are you talking about? Take viOlet for example. He's basically NA since he only broke out after leaving Korea.
I thought the Korean qualifier was supposed to be today? It's still listed for June 2nd on liquipedia but the OP says no fixed date now. Did I miss an update somewhere?

If i am not mistaken TaKe and that other guy is casting some german tournament today so i guess that is why its delayed / not happening today.
The OP says "no date yet" and the taket.tv cuppage doesnt have korean qualifier listed. i expect it to be between the 2 EU ones or even after the 2nd EU one (6th and 13th of june)

Face it. NA players are flat out bad at this game. The skill gap has only increased since release and won't stop any time soon.
What happens when golden and sleep go and dominate those EU players at the actual lan?
I'm pretty sure you're only allowed to play in a certain qualifier when you live in that region, so lag etc. can be disregarded. Phoenix and ReaL will be allowed to qualify though.
Yup, Real and Phoenix will try to qualify. Daisy, who is also a Korean living in Germany, will also participate. But I don't think the top European pros are going to lose to them tbh. Kas, Snute, Whitera and Bly are the favorites for the first qualifier imo. And I really hope one of the Ukrainian wins it, because it would be more expensive for them to come to HSC without the paid trip than for most other europeans.

No doubt, but Incontrol was kind of suggesting the reason Korean's aren't trying to qualify on EU server is due to lag, which is a faulty statement. I guess NA players are just unlucky that Korean "B"-gamers prefer living in the US over EU for whatever reason. Don't forget viOlet qualified from NA last HSC and he turned out to be pretty fucking legit and more than just another Korean "B"-gamer.

could very well happen. both can be named together with names like dimaga or even nerchio i believe, ppl dont realize this. theognis, illusion and killer are all pretty good players who fell short to golden and sleep in the qualifiers.

Actually, this is what I am looking forward to the most: how golden and sleep will perform against EU players. The qualified players from NA - or at least those who lived there for a longer period of time - did not fare well at all in the mlg arenas. The players from EU definitely better, however they - except the allmighty Stephano - didn't do that well, too.

Golden doesn't dominate in EU server thus far, to be correct I don't think the server matters too much tho. Any server koreans come, they usually own it.
i believe that's only ladder games, because the first round map is supposed to be antiga (if i remember correctly), and most of them are on other maps :p just be patient a few more minutes, wont be long until the brackets are up

Nothing. Golden and Sleep will get slaughtered by players like Stephano, Kas (already qualified), Naniwa (Even though they may not be there you need to consider them EU players).
The only person from NA that has done anything in SC2 is HuK. He's the one exception.
Basically, anyone with an American flag beside their name in Liquipedia can be written off from the tournament pretty quickly. Sad, but true.
I want to see Happy win this. He's was great in WC3 and he's even better in SC2. He's always on the top of the ladder, it's time to see him having sucess in LANs.

Sorry but i don't agree. He was one of the first players to popularize mass ghosts in late game (I think he is one of the main responsibles for the nerf). I've seen him doing hellion drops, marauder-hellion push, blue flame to cloak banshee before many of these strategies became mainstream. Have you seen Happy's mass Raven versus Protoss?
Many pros look up to Happy and study him (DeMuslim for example). Unfortunately he doesn't seem to perform at his best in live events. Too much pressure maybe?

Preeeeeety sure Thorzain started the mass ghost aspect in late game...
And lol at you thinking it was happy that was one of the main reasons behind the nerf...he's performed awfully in serious LAN events and there's other people who made it look a lot worse....like MVP?
I'm sorry but it's a well known fact that his strats are very very one-dimensional. His openings may vary, but his overall composition in the mid to late game doesn't change. And people exploit the hell out of it.

Are you serious? How can you even exploit Happy's late game??? :D If he gets to the late game, he has as good as won. You should watch some more games of him, he may not have performed in many offline events, but he is a really, really strong player, even if you don't like his playstyle.
And he pulls some incredibly sexy moves sometimes. He's very much so one of the biggest reasons European Protoss players still fear ghosts. :D

I was kinda kidding. Of couse that I don't think it was only because of him. But during that time he was making European Zergs rage in the late game.

I understand what you're saying, but notice that mid to late game terran compositions don't vary that much. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that he's super talented, an even if he's very one-dimensional like you say, he's still skilled enough to crush people on ladder. That's why I'm saying that his dissapointing results in LANs must be due to problems dealing with pressure or something like that.
I'm not denying his ability. I'm denying his ability to do something different. We all know his mechanics are fantastic and his unti control is great. His single-minded palystyle....isn't
Anyone who knows me knows how much I detest players who do the same strat throughout the game. happy falls under that category. ALL he does is marine/tank in TvT and TvZ. If he's change recently then i stand corrected, but that's how i see him
Does he mech? Does he go MMM balls? SK Terran with Ravens?
Nope, marine/tank...then marine/tank then maybe marine/tank
I get it Warpish, I just think that it's a lack of variety in his overall playstyle on top of it. I think that he does his strat very VERY well., but that's all he does.

His TvT is more tank/marine than marine/tank, it's so much more tank-heavy than usual marine/tank. It's a bit of a weird style to play and Thorzain was quoted saying that he hates to play Happy and no one else plays the way he does. But yeah, he doesn't have the biggest variety in his playstyle.

IMO his mechanics were pretty bad tbh. He'd always get supply blocked and he'd often be way behind in supply a lot of the time for no reason. I agree that he's a fairly robotic player too. Lately i've been watching him and he seems to be playing really well though, seems to have cleaned it up quite a lot. I still hope he can have a good tourney run sometime soon!

Yeah, I enjoy DBS casting so much. It's really good to hear calm and wise commentary like that. Most of the casters talk a lot, but nothing that important. Anyway, Nerchio and Kas are a bit like Stephano and Polt now. Meeting all the time and showing some great games. I think that Nerchio is a better player tho, his only problem is that he's not that constant.
So it's Kas vs Nerchio yet again, I wonder how many times these guys already fought each other in various finals. In Stephano's absence probably Europe's two currently best players. I hope they aren't too sleepy and will produce good games.
I really enjoy DBS casting this... with his good analyse and his calm voice :-) But Grubby wasn´t bad either. And apart from this i have the feeling that Takes English improved since his last english cast. To sum it up... great cast today guys :-)
nerchio punishing the fast 3rd CC moveout, but not with a big bust, just by doing ling runbys at every base simultaneously. worked on daybreak. working on CK.
any number of burrow banelings. he can't afford scans.
Once a terran is on 3+ bases, killing SCVs without killing an army isn't actually a good thing.
Just imagine how that would go if nerchio was better at keeping infestors alive. or at least burrow them before losing them so he needs to use another scan.

His engagements during the midgame were pretty sloppy tho. :/ Kas army was huge as hell, but still. I feel Ultra tech was kind of late. maxout timing should not hit before Hive tech with the new zerg rush to hive style.
I think he should have gone mass infestor with lings as opposed to ultras, maybe like 2 or 3 ultras, but he needed to counter Terrans cost effectiveness and penchant for rines in those situations with Zerg's only cost effective unit, the infestor

Queens are pretty damn cost efficient if you ask me, concidering how much they do for 150 minerals. :p
edit : I feel like Kas would have been better in these engagement if he started producing Thors like Polt does. having 2 or 3 thors engaging high corruptor count is very good.

Nerchio played by far better, I've never seen better ling runbys. I just don't like that he gives away infestors too easly, and he shouldn't let Kas get back to game at g3. I would really like to see him playing full time. Best ZvZ outside of korea, one of the best ZvT so just after fixing his ZvP he should be similar to Stephano level. (Even tho Nerchio won 2-0 with HerO on Homestory Cup IV, so it's not always that bad)

lucky brackets and byes aside, not many foreigners have a chance in the Code A qualifiers. But ignore the qualifier part, if by what you mean by that is belonging in Code A then the list is very small. Huk (NA player, and a top 5 foreigner in the world-- everyone glosses over that fact for some reason), naniwa, thorzain, stephano. Thats really the list of the foreigners who without a doubt are Code A+.
Don't know why you shitting on NA so much. OFC all of EU will have more players than NA, but Huk is better than most of Europe and Illusion, idra, qxc, major, + kawaiirice can give great games (and beat) Code S koreans.
Players like Axslav, Gatored, DDE could take games off of Europeans finest and no one would bat an eyelash.

Players like Axslav, Gatored, DDE could take games off of Europeans finest and no one would bat an eyelash.

are you stupid? or did you just not read my post? where did I even once mention Koreans? I excluded players like Violet and Select. And once again you ignore Huk, (NA player better than almost every European). And do you follow the scene at all? You know Illusion beat 3 Code S players at IPL 4, and Ganzi at Red bull lan. That's 4 Code S players he beat and he has "no shot at Code A"?

Name me 5 NA players who are code a material.
He can't because beside HuK there is no one at that level. I mean just look at NASL. Huk and TT1 are performing quite well - afterwards you have EVERY NA player ranked #6 or below in their respective group. Out of the 20 best foreigners are like 18 europeans. Counting single bo3 wins to justify the rating as "Code A'ish" is so stupid... Nearly every europeans player has beaten a good korean at one point.
Cloud won against MC, Goody against MMA and Nestea, Grubby against OZ and Ryung (and many others), Stephano against everyone, Tefel against Select, Socke nearly against DRG, Delphi against Marineking, Thorzain speaks for itself... and the list goes on and on. AND i don't count everyone of the above players as a possible Code A candidate -_-
edit/ but seriously I didn't intend to start this stupid discussion again... I was in first instance just really sad that we won't see an unknown NA player @HSC. Because for the average european NA pro-scene is often quite unknown. Hopefully Take invites one or another pro to come over. Would really like to see for example ranged or theognis because I barely heard about them until now.
Maybe a little bit offtopic: Take said that only players living in America (or even only players with an american citizenship) will be allowed in the NA qualifiers for homestory cup 6, so hes already reacting to this problem,
I really hope Take invites not too many koreans. Guys like MC or MKP simply deliver, but most of them appear so colourless. I'd prefer to see some invites of real NA players (Seth, IdrA, CatZ, Illusion for example) over players like Hero, Zenio, Puma or JYP. It's mainly because my korean and their english is quite shit i guess :-( So difficult to feel involved to someone you don't understand. And this tournament as all about involvement i think.

I believed "living in America" has the meaning of PRIMARY RESIDENT AND PRIMARY HOME, not travellers or visitors.

Goody has a nice record against GSL champoins. He isn't Code S level though...
To pick some matches from a player doesn't make a good conclusion.
The history of foreigners in GSL taught me one thing: don't call a player code X level until he proves it in Korea or is a big tournament victor. I think that several players has at least solid code a potential (like Kas, Lucifron or Nerchio) but still I would expect them to fail in the first round of code a. Good Koreans just seem to have no apparent weaknesses, they are incredibly solid overall and are accustomed to fierce GSL's format and its pressure. Foreigners first need to strengthen themselves those conditions, which they won't find outside of Korea.

We aren't arguing about Code S level. The poster said that Illusion has "no chance in the GSL Code A qualifiers". I strongly disagree with that statement. You never count anyone out in a tournament like that Code A qualifiers.

He said after the qualifier that he will change it for the next hsc, not for this one. Sorry if I didn't explain it clear enough.
