I'm a little confused though. I thought the past seasons of GSTL had all the teams playing against each other and then the teams with the best score goes to playoff or am I thinking totally wrong??

They used various differents formats throughout the GSTL seasons. The first three GSTL tournaments were played with eight teams in single-elimination brackets, the next season was twelve teams in two groups of six with round robin play where the top three of each group got seeded into the play-off bracket and finally, last season was this weird bracket format that didn't really work out well imho. Now, this season you have two groups with four teams and it's basically the same format as GSL Code S. Top two advance. while the top four from last GSTL are seeded into the second group stage which will determine the four teams who'll get to meet in the semifinals.

That was correct for the first season of the teamleague, held in 2011. However in this season it works like the regular Code S groups. A vs B then C vs D then Winners Match, Losers match and then the Final Match In order to explain I will start by talking about Round 2 first. In round 2 the top four teams are placed into two groups, in the last teamleague the top 4 teams were Prime, MVP, StarTaleQ and FXO. The remaining teams, in this case there are eight other teams than the top four, are placed into Round 1 groups. As stated earlier this works like Code S groups, ZeNEX beat Liquid and Slayers beat NSHS. ZeNEX will face Slayers tommorow in the winners match and Liquid will face NSHS in the Losers match the day after that. The loser of the losers match will fall out of the competition while the winner of the winners match will advance to Round 2 in first place. The remaining two teams(winner of Losers match and the loser of the Winners match) will face each other and the winner will move onto round 2 while the other unfortunate team will fall out of the tourney.

P.S. In the recommended games section you switch from writing Life, which is correct, to Line.
