The German ESL Pro Series (EPS) is one of the oldest competitions in eSports and is going into its 21st season currently. StarCraft II has been a part of the league immeadiately after its release. Right now the fifth season is about to start - the past seasons were won by Socke (three times) and HasuObs (once).
This season consists of six cups that every player in Germany can sign up and qualify for. Each participant will receive ranking points according to how far they get in each cup. When the five cups are over the top 8 players of the overall ranking will make it to the playoffs.
Each cup has an overall prize-money of €700,-
The best players in Germany (based on past seasons) are always invited. These are: The EPS cups are happening on Mondays, starting at 17:00 GMT (+00:00).

Eh, I don't think so. Each cup has 700 € so why would anyone not care about that? And who are the "better players" you are talking about? People banned from ESL I guess.

And Socke is in the US at the moment

Congratualiton Cloud! The reward of beating the two strong Protoss Monchi and Real is playing your best friend: Goody

Cloud vs Goody :D best matchup one could possibly hope for.
Also, nice win over Darkforce by DBS! DF is probably still affected by D3

hehe :D So according to you, it can't be possible that Goody is probably loosing to Darkforce this very second? ;-)
Edit: Well... Looking at how this game develops ^^ You might actually have a point.

Poor Hasu seems so broken from the loss at the WCS finals

Reeeeaaaaaally nice game right now between DBS and Hanfy.
DBS won the first game against Darkforce. Would be nice to see him win the final. Terran brother fighting!
How does Darkforce won against Socke? Darkforce almost NEVER wins against him.
Nice show guys. Liked the casting. Gj Naruto :>
So who won in the end? Missed the final. DBS played superbly until then.
i canceled my cc (going cc first) in game 3, go figure

Oh thats why you tilted so hard :> good tourney though. We know terran is hard these days.

DBS vs Daisy game 3 was sick!! DBS got so good lately.
4rth EPS-Cup is running right now, just saw DBS going insane with his multitask to defeat Daisy.
Seems like HasuObs is out of his EPS slump. Going against monchi in the semi final soon. The other half of the bracket has Socke, ClouD and Delphi left.
Seems like Delphi is on a big upswing together with his race.
Delphi was very good even before the patch. Lots of times especially in ZvT he lost to either allin or due to his infestor control. Nowadays he got a lot better. Obviously t he patch does help, but he was always known as a ZvT killer. Nearly beating aLive (Code-S Champion) and he already won @ HSC IV against MKP 2-1. Blaming the patch is stupid.
I'm not blaming the patch. Maybe it's a coincidence. I know his results against terrans, but he had always a problem with consistency. He solved this problem looking at his recent performance in the EPS.

I hope Delphi can do well in this tournament. I think hes a bit underrated for sure. gl everyone <3

Delphi is pretty much already qualified for the playoffs and has a very good chance to get the #1 seed. He together with DBS are the two players who improved the most from last season.
Bigs on the other hand is really doing bad and will have a hard time making the playoffs this time.

Not yet. He has 20 points more than the 9th place that wont qualify. but well done hasu anyways.

that would be great, but i guess we will just have to wait and see - Hasuobs and dbs don't live far away from krefeld so they could probably travel home today and still play eps - not sure about socke, monchi, cloud.

Hopefully TaKe will be able to cast this today...or he can put some of the German pros in front off the stream who will do it for him. :D
Anyway, GoGo ReaL and DBS!

Hanfy beating Darkforce 2:0 in the semis getting his second Top3 this season. He will be at least at 145 points passing Socke and monchi and tying Goody.
Hanfy won, he's now at 170 points so I'm pretty sure he's going to the playoffs.
Looks like only one of Socke, Real and Monchi will reach the playoffs.
JoRoSaR did some AWESOME casting. Even with a solo cast, he was able to bring energy and hype up all the matches (including all the ZvZs). I would love to see Jorosar on more. Very entertaining.

OP updated.
Before the last cup of the season three-times champion Socke is not even in the top 8!
Next week's cup will only be played until the top 4 are determined. The rest will be played at gamescom in August!

Hm that means in consequence that the top(8) EPS players' seeds should be randomized next season. Darkforce too strong in calculations, soo imba.

Darkforce too strong in calculations, soo imba. They are being adapted to the results of all cups during a season. Basically the final standing of the past season is used as an additional cup and the seeding is based on the results so far.
For example Hasu started out as the #1 seed in the first cup, dropped down to the 7th seed in third cup and is now going to be #3 in cup #6 (as long as both DarKFoRcE and Delphi chose to participate).
Hyped for tonight!
- DarKFoRcE - 270
- Delphi - 265
- DBS - 175
- Hanfy - 170
- ClouD - 160
- HasuObs - 155
- ReaL - 150
- GoOdy - 145
- Socke - 135
- monchi - 125
- Hazed - 95
- AkkiS - 80
I want Socke and Monchi to make it to the playoffs so bad! Kinda wouldn't feel like EPS without Socke. I feel that adding 1 more cup this season was a really good decision. Everything can happen tonight, I wouldn't even be surprised if Bigs wins this one tonight and still qualifies (he's at 60 points right now). Last season he only played the last 2 cups and won them both. Akkis also has good chanced imo.
Maybe the last season with uncertain outcome since XlorD will join the fun next season :D. Hope Hasu or DBS will take it.
Monchi is out
love the german stream <3
Socke has to win vs Hasu to make it into the top 8!
And then it would look really bad for Hasu. If Real wins vs Cloud and Goody wins vs KauP, then the loser of Socke vs Hasu is out for sure.
WTF I don't get what's happening lol. I guess if Real beats Cloud now, then Hanfy and Hasu are both tied for 7th/8th with 180 points? And Socke is at 175 but can still get more if he's in semi final? Help!
I absolutely cannot believe how crazy the playoff-picture in this cup is. Basically noone but the top3 were safe. And now it really seems as Hasu doesn't make it? That would be so crazy.

I guess Hanfy would win the tie-breaker, since both have won a cup, and Hanfy has the best 2nd-best finish.
Yup, Take confirmed Hanfy over HasuObs.
And Socke just has to beat either Goody in the semis or Real/Bigs in the 3rd place match to get more points than Hasu. And I'm pretty sure Socke is able to do it, so Hasu is as good as out.

Then again HasuObs did participate in all six cups while Hanfy missed one. That has to count for something.

And .... GOODY VS CLOUD!

the number of viewer is rly sad.

ESL just underestimates the importance of TL. They think people will browse esl.tv or whatever to find their streams, but NOONE does that. 80 % of the viewers come through teamliquid.net and if they don't put the fucking stream here noone will watch.
Take normally gets 3k+ viewers for his daily casts and had 8k+ viewers for the EPS spring finals (and 10k+ for WCS Germany) and now he has 600 viewers. This event had so much potential to be good, but ESL just fucked up hard. They didn't even have live footage from the venue or interviews for the first 2 matches and just had Kaelaris cast them from their studio...

So hyped for today, ESL, TSL, good old bundesliga! Gonna be a great day Anyone know the name of the song currently on Kaelaris stream?
go hanfy! GO QNK!!!!!!!!!
nice always waiting time on the stream, what is this shit? And you get no info, it's almost laughable how slow this is going.
Why is the second semifinal not casted by TaKe and NarutO? And when do they cast the next matches? ( the third playce match and/or the final)
Yeah Kaelaris so hyped after so much downtime, now let's hope for some epic games! Goody vs. Hanfy right now on stream. EDIT: hahaha game paused Kaelaris <3

We are not going to cast it because Kalaeris is doing it,... and ForstiHenning. Don't ask me why, but it doesn't fit into the schedule T_T! We'll be back with the final.

Waiting so long to see some awesome Goody mech made that series very disappointing. Oh well.
*bo5, he can still mech it happen ^^
Oh Goody, c'mon!!! I want to see Hasu vs Goody finals with Goody winning it.
That's more like it! :D
*One game. Worth it.
what was goody thinking? terrible attack...
Stupid disc. Was about to see mech win vP. Ref' better be on the ball.
Leave the amazing FF7 music on, it should be mandatory in SC2 casting that it is played in the backround
OK now we're going back in time with Chrono Trigger.
bad decision, I feel that goody had won that for sure
I`m sorry but the decision to not give Goody a win is hilarious. He had a 70 pop larger army, more income, 3/3 was (already?) done and a fourth base. Of course if he would do nothing for 5 minutes he might still lose but consiodering how the game went that is not something you`d reasonably expect.

i dont understand why goody wasnt given the win there i'd like to see a statement from the ESL and i am really interested in what the players will say about it in the next szenecast

Feel free to check the replay, it's here: http://www.esl.eu/de/pro-series/summer_2012/sc2/playoffs/match/26825251
Socke's PC froze right when the deciding battle started and had to be rebooted (probably overheated). I feel that GoOdy had an advantage but it wasn't by as much as you say. If Socke controls his units in that last engagement properly then GoOdy might win that fight with about 2 Tanks and a couple Vikings/Hellions left but would definitely not be able to continue pushing as Socke has 1700 Minerals and 500 Gas and warp-ins ready.
The map was not over yet. GoOdy had 3-3 uprades, Socke 3-2, worker count is the same and the only thing GoOdy has over Socke is a well saturated base more. His 70 supply are either at around 4 o'clock on the map or in his base/in production. The important part is the fight where Socke's PC crashed and since that wasn't possible to judge a regame with a new map-veto was the best solution I could come up with.

Gonna watch other stuff now when the General is out. Thanks for the games, work on the downtime and tip of the hat to Kaelaris for dealing with it. He's got quite some training on that with the recent events. :3
Is Hanfy Hanf from WC3???
ICA: Wondered the same thing. Now that I have seen Hanfy on stage: Nope, that's not Hanf.
Thats how you deal with that type of zerg army composition! Lay down a few defensive storms so as not to let the zerglin.. err.. infestors get up close to fungal your entire protoss army
GG Hasu!

uhm?? why did the stream go offline?
First time I've seen carriers win protoss a game..

Xsplit crashed for Kaelaris.
Sick game by Hasu.

just because most refuse to build them(and even if don't go or upgrades) and lose trying the archon toilet x3, while carriers work so well against the new massfestor, since you can protect your hts well with them. PvZ has gotten really easy on ladder with carriers MS lately. Anyway go go hasu.
Major upset i guess. Hasu doesn't like "patchzergs".
wow redicioulus noname patchzerg won. sad really sad
Sad for Hasu, but good for Hanfy!
I hope he will get the price money in one or two years...
Grats to Hanfy, the Reign of Aiur has come to an end finally in the EPS.

How exactly did u come to the conclusion, that Socke's PC frozed at the start of the fight, when you can clearly see that at 19:55 (only 4 Seconds before disconnect, long after the battle started und when it already was pretty much lost for Socke) he uses Blink with stalkers and Shift-Attacks the 2 Tanks on the right?! Poor decision imho...

Another tournament won by patchzerg, so sad.
Still congrats to Hanfy, not his fault he just chose the right race.
