Far from being unknown in the online game world, HP and Intel are organizing a totally new 2v2 tournament in Europe to promote the last PC gamer, HP Phoenix.
The HP Trophy is an international tournament for two-player teams with 5 000 € (6,600 $) cash prize. The organization should be flawless since Llewellys, Millenium SC2 team's manager, is head coordinator of the tournament.
24 teams will run for this event. Here is the perfect opportunity for you and your teammate to take part in a high level competition.
Registration : CLOSED
More information will be available soon, but here are the main items to take note of:
- Starts August 7th - Two-player teams - 24 teams dispatched into 6 groups of 4. The 16 best teams will be qualified in a final bracket. - Match format : 4x 1v1, 1x 2v2 - Cash prize: 5 000 € : 1st - 3 000 € 2nd - 1 000 € 3rd - 500 € 4-8th : 100 € - The best matches will be streamed by Millenium TV, but other streams may be accepted.
So, if you like Starcraft 2, tournaments and 2v2 games, what are you waiting for ?!
|
great news! finally some 2x2 action coming back
|
The first one looked interesting but I could never find a schedule or a stream to watch it.
|
If you want to play the 2v2 HP Trophy - 5 000 € cash prize -, hurry up, there are only 8 places remaining ! A lot of teams are already announced, like Polt & Inori, MaNa & ThorZaIN, SuperNoVa & InCa, Ret & ToD, Nerchio & Bly or LucifroN & VortiX.
To suscribe, it's realy easy : just send an email to hptrophy2@gameo-consulting.com with the name of both players, prize list and league. Since it should be a big event - and only 8 places remaining - a selection will be done.
|
1st event was horrible to follow, I Hope that will be easier to track matches & stream.
If they can add an English stream that should be nice.
It is a nice initiative anyway ! :D
|
Three new teams have been announced ! To suscribe, there are only 5 places remaining.
|
LucifroN and VortiX Ret and ToD Polt and Inori MaNa and ThorZaiN
Some pretty damn awesome teams :D
|
I sent a request to join with my mate IeZaeL :D
|
|
Please, please, please, get some English streamers and actually post a schedule on here. Should be awesome, but I'd actually like to be able to follow it, not just read up results.

It's fun to see that Korean players are participating as well. What shenanigans can Inca conjure up?

Nice to see a sponsored 2v2 tourney. Looks like every possible combo is competing except for P/P.
- Match format : 4x 1v1, 1x 2v2
This confuses me though... Thought this was just a 2 man team tourney not a team league?
|
Wow that's a sick list of players, I hope they will train at least a little bit for this should be fun. I see a lot of progamers, are there also dedicated 2v2 teams? (I wonder how they will do against the pro player teams)

Not really worth it to play in it as a 2v2 team since only one out of five games is a 2v2. You might win the 2v2, but that's no use if you lose all the 1v1s.

As we saw during HP Trophey 1, the 2v2 is very often decisive, surprisingly. There were many 3-2, with 2-2 duels. I think it worth it to train a bit the 2v2, at least to know maps.

Polt and inori seem to be the scariest duo imo but I think the lucifron and vortix will take this, just get a hunch they will.

It's european and korean teams.
As a Starcraft fan and an online tournament host, which team would you pick? Unknown (and maybe not serious) teams? Or well known ones with good reputation, great fan base and nice behaviour?
I'm sure that if some serious american/sea players had sign up, they would be picked up.

erm European is international anyway, as long as there are more than one nation involved it's "international"

Will the 4X1v1 be like this: Team 1 Player A vs Team 2 Player A Team 1 Player B vs Team 2 Player B Team 1 Player A vs Team 2 Player B Team 1 Player B vs Team 2 Player A or can the players decide it amongst themselves?

I watched Polt, inori vs SlayerSArthur, Min - High Orbit.
Polt and inori definitely had a planned strategy, Polt went 1 rax 2 gas and dumped his resources to inori (9 gate blink stalker).

Is this minato-math Bly or Nerchio?
|
|
I don't understand what am I seeing. Games should be bo3, right? So how the hell after one set of 1v1 we have 2v2? Or is it still bo3 but streamed in random order?
|
Well played by the Moreno Duran brothers, both beat Thorzain and Lucifron beat Mana, they only lost the 2v2. They should be up against Nerchio/Bly in the finals if the other semi goes as expected. Difficult, but pretty doable, I think they'll win it.

2v2 - 1v1 - 1v2, so much back and forth :3

omg nerchio, ridiculous...

5th ragequit from Nerchio, not bad.

Who did Nerchio face when he RQ'd?

I know he RQ'd twice against Real, once against Dayshi and I geuss twice in the 2v2 but I didn't see those

Thanks for the results. Nerchio can be a top-tier player at times, but when he gets tilted, he does get really immature in his actions I noticed. He hasn't even been playing that well recently, so if he wants a chance at being competitive with the best, he should work more on his mentality than game knowledge/mechanics.
Bad Manner MULE timing.

I predict a forfeit for the finals so that Lucifron and Vortix has to play each other. It is inevitable.
