For sure, and the best part is, with all of EG's money, they can pick up the good players like Coca, Puzzle, MMA, and Miso to create an even stronger team while they let the rest of SlayerS bteamers go homeless.
SlayerS should win this, but I am hoping for an EG upset! If Demuslim is starter perhaps could take a few if he plays right. He was tearing people up on stream last night.

Why miso over miya, yugioh, ryung, alicia or arthur.

It will be close but I think Puma/JYP/Stephano have the potential to beat any member of Slayers. Demu and Huk are good enough to beat any of the b-teamers and potential pull off some upsets.
The question is not whether or not EG will win or lose, it's how many games Stephano can win XD But in all seriousness, Slayers BTeam has been wrecking of late....
Can't wait for this, should be a great series. I expect Huk, Puma and JYP to be EG's main players due to the servers. I'd love to see more from some of the SlayerS reserves, like Eve, Dark, Arthur or KDY, though the latter still only makes me think of KY Jelly.
Let's go EG! A 2-0 record in the IPTL would offset the 3-2 losses in the MCSL.
Though I expect SlayerS will be sly and snipe the hell out of EG. Deploying someone with a predetermined cheese build against Idra, Huk, Stephano or Thorzain, sending out a Terran as soon as JYP takes the field (MMA vs JYP anyone?), throwing Ryung at Puma and so on. Though Puma vs Ryung have been amazing TvTs in the past.
SlayerS is probably the underdog this time around, even their a-team has not been performing well, and the supposed return of CoCa has not happened. Though SlayerS has talented players in their b-team, EG has a lot of depth and skilled players who can take them on evenly or at a superior level. I think EG has the upper hand this time, with players like Stephano, PuMa and JYP capable of giving SlayerS a huge problem.
On October 03 2012 05:29 Dexington wrote: JYP was Slayers ace in the last GSTL and isn't even EG's best player (Stephano). I don't think EG will lose, but then again, EG curse.
Ehh.. that's debatable. Yeah he had 2 great performances, but at the end of the day they relied more on Puzzle and CoCa.

Agree with this. EG are my favourite team by far because of their personalities, but SlayerS is probably my favourite Korean team because of how they promote their "youth", the new talents that they pick up. They're pretty much the opposite to EG, which I suppose is a bit odd for me to like both of them. Though I did appreciate EG picking up Suppy and keeping with LzGamer due to his race switch, so here's hoping we'll see results from them.

I think the two can be one and the same in this case. With slayers collectively slumping, just LOOK at recent GSTL results (getting all killed once in a big finals, that's fine... all killed twice in a row? That's worrisome) and Stephano able to beat Hero and Taeja in the Liquid vs EG match... Plus there's always Thorzain who is a team league beast.
I dunno, I just think that EG has a better chance than Slayers here, that whole team is just hurting so much lately. MMA is no longer in the top five terrans in existence I'd say (though Stephano might be in the top five zergs. Coca could snipe him

Right now the major players for EG are Stephano and JYP. Beyond that, there is little consistency, and even JYP can be inconsistent. Even as a hard-core Slayers fan, I won't deny the team has had some issues recently, such as losing the Emperor and our leader to SKT, and Puzzle our Protoss ace falling terribly ill. But we are Slayers still, and with guys like MMA, Ryung, Alicia, Coca, Genius, and not to even mention our fast-improving B-teamers and rookies (Miya, Arthur, Dark, etc), we have EG outclass in depth and skill. Can Stephano get an all-kill against us? Sure, but many of our players could just as easily all-kill EG as well.

I'm so happy to see HuK doing well, even if it means SlayerS falling
EDIT: I only became a SlayerS fan because of MMA and Boxer, now that Boxer has moved on and MMA wants to get on a foreign team, I think it might be time for me to think of a new team to root for..
What the fuck. What the fuck, what the fuck, what the fuck, what the fuck, what the fuck. Why the hell are you sending out a player like Miso? Take this shit seriously goddamnit!

Atleast send out Dark or Miya. Miso still sucks. I know SlayerS B-Teamers best B-Teamers, but Miso is still C-Teamer.

You could send out Miya, Alicia, MMA, Ryung, Coca...you know, someone who has actually accomplished something other than play in online tournaments.

What gives people the idea that its that bad? Boxer left to go to his old team, and MMA is slumping, and both puzzle and coca are sick. If the three best players from any team were MIA for some reason, wouldn't they seem this bad too?

The only thing I can think of for why Slayers is sending out these peeps would be that they don't seem to take any league seriously untill they lose- in the last MCSL, they send out the b team until they lost, then it was all MMA, Coca, Puzzle, Alicia, etc.

I opened this thread thinking I was going to see EG getting stomped, but was surprised to see they are off to a nice start. Then I remembered this isn't the EGMC, which is what I was expecting them to lose.
Huh... I'm not really up to date on all these new SlayerS people. Has anyone seen any games of KDY? Is he worth sending out? Or does Slayers not really care at this point?
Slayers you are getting your ass handed to you in GSTL, at least try to win some matches in the much easier IPTL... If they sent out their A team consistently in this tournament they might have been able to win the whole thing but they don't take it seriously. At least EG is 2-0 now

I guess that's possible. I suppose my assessment of dignitas is clouded by my impression of them before jrecco was on the team. he added a lot of strength
I don't think so much that they're trying to build their B-team up... I think they just have bigger problems right now, like whether the team will exist in 2013.
Didn't IM used to use (still do?) team leagues to give lesser known players experience and exposure? I mean, look at them now. That roster is pretty fucking deep.
Treating the IPTL like your b-team development squad is either ingenious or terrible. But probably terrible when the aura of failure is around you with the MMA/Boxer/Crank fiascos
Wow pathetic lineup from slayers. Shows that they don't care about this league one bit anymore. I wonder if slayers will even still be around by the time Hots is out.

Nah, not 100% of course. Hell, Genius could probably all-kill EG on a good day, but seeing how he didn't do it here, chances wouldn't be too bad for DJRecco to do better.
LOL at the IGN casters trying to save the integrity of the league by implying SlayerS prepares for this.

I actually think this is smart of Slayers. MMA is bound to leave when the contract is up. Ryung left the team house. Puzzle is M.I.A. When the entire core of main players leave, it's better to sacrifice all of your team league games and let your B team players get experience.
It's the only way to rebuild a dying team. TSL did it and so did IM (though in IM's case they weren't sinking, they just wanted to raise up more talent).

A map where terran have atleast 50% winrate is a terran favored map. :p
While I'm as upset as anyone to not see MMA, Ryung, even someone like Brown appearing in this series, it's not like the games were bad. Puma's game against Dark was seriously good TvZ. Huk's PvPs were great.
It's not like SlayerS is throwing this, these players are obviously good, and say what you like about curses and slumps but Puma and Huk are multiple tournament winners and top quality players.
Remember in TAC3, when IM sent out Seed, First, Yoda and hardly ever played Nestea, and didn't play MVP at all? People were like "who are these randoms?" Who's to say one of these guys won't come out of nowhere in the next GSL and go far?

Uhhh... I really hope the potential Slayers has in MMA, Ryung, Coca, Puzzle, (when they get better) Genius, and Alicia come out and win this GSTL to shut up these people. I've heard more people ask about Slayer's continued existence than NSHoseo, Zenex (before they went down) and OGS combined.

Daybreak is like more than 60% Zerg favored. Metropolis is like less than 40% winrate for terran too.

The point im trying to make is that just looking at a winrate to judge if a map is balanced or not isn't really the right way to do it. Hell, protoss had a huge winrate on Dual Sight vs zerg, and that map was zerg heaven.

LOLOLO. NSHoseo has 5 people total, the only one of note being jjakji, who just dropped out of the gsl. Slayers has Alicia (mlg 2, nasl 2) Genius (gsl 2) Ryung (nothing big, but hes pretty good) and MMA (who is MMA, though slumping) If Coca and Puzzle get over their pneumonia, slayers would roflstomp nshoseo. Today, the only one of those players that played was Genius, who lost a pvp to Huk.
Most Zerg wins on Antiga are with all ins and timing attacks. When the game goes late with both races even Terran is heavily favoured. Same with Metropolis actually.

Id even argue Min and Yugioh are better than these guys they play for online tournaments. They atleast had results in GSL Code A.

You have to look at who SlayerS sent out for this match though. I mean really? Most people probably wouldn't be able to tell you who those guys are because they aren't well known. They have done this before with players such as Crank who NO ONE knew, just so they could get some fresh blood out there and to get them some exposure. Where I'm getting at is perhaps SlayerS is doing exactly this in the IPTL, or at least against EG this time.
As I look over the results, I suddenly realized that this Slayers team is almost completely foreign to me, a hardcore Slayers fan. Genius we all know, and I love his antics, but players like Arthur, Dark, KDY, Miso? I don't even know what these guys even look like, much less their personalities! This is a team that is completely foreign to me. This isn't the team that I originally became a fan of!
I remember when MMA won the Blizzard Cup, and the entire team rushed the stage to congratulate him. I could recognize those guys: Boxer, Cella, Clide, Alicia, Ganzi, Ryung (popped the champagne all over MMA's hair). I knew about each one of these guys, and it felt natural to connect with them and root for them.
I don't mind sending out the occasional B-teamer to help them gain experience. Slayers sent out Crank and Miya, giving them opportunities and exposure, and I'm a fan of them now. But this is different. Not a single member of the old guard, of the dream team if you will, was sent. It's like I'm watching a whole new team.

And is there a problem with that? On every other map, it is the opposite. Terrans win with all ins and timing attacks. If it goes late where it is even, it is heavily zerg favoured (again, terran CAN win but zerg is favoured).
When terrans complain about BL/infestors, zergs will tell them to NOT let them get to that stage. Well, on Antiga, DON'T let terrans take the middle.

Once Terran gets siege tanks they can push straight into the middle though. Unless you are saying don't let them get tanks?

you were saying?
Stephano was probably playing for Puma. Thats why he looked better then usual.

If you have good creep spread, you can just crush them once they unsiege and try to move to the middle. And there are many cases where zergs can take back the middle. Is it hard to do? Yes. So is trying to slow down the zerg tech to BL/infestors using drops IF the zerg defends well.

Oh, easily they could. I'm not sure what to think of that. Was their usual lineup unable to play? That felt like a last-minute B-team lineup to me. I knew Genius and Arthur only...the rest I'd never once seen in any event ever. It was pretty strange.
SlayerS have only been using their B-team + Genius for IPTL pretty much.

I don't understand the point you are trying to make. I am saying that unless you all in Antiga is Terran favoured. Win rates are not that helpful in some situations. Like Daybreak is Zerg favoured in ZvP but Toss has the higher win rate.

I'm so confused right now.
I became a fan of SlayerS because of Boxer and MMA. Now that Boxer's returned to his origins, and MMA isn't even being played much more, and with all the rumors about him wanting to leave for a foreign team...IDK, if MMA leaves SlayerS I'll probably root for another team.

On a near 50-50 TvZ map? Hmm, those odds sure do suck for the Zerg.
You take stats that's like 12months old a lot has changed. That map is properly the most unbalanced TvZ map in competitive starcraft 2. When the Terran controls the mid the zerg can do nothing.
Daybreak is like more than 60% Zerg favored. Metropolis is like less than 40% winrate for terran too.
:/
And none of them is as bad as Atlantis... good thing that is gone.

It's 369-365. OMG, Terran's won 5 more games, it's OP.
And as to the lot saying that Zerg must all-in to win. Are we not counting All-ins as wins? Because, hey, they still win. I'd rather take that than not winning on Metropolis. 42% to Terran on that Map, or 41.5% on Daybreak this year! Antiga is a wonderful map, provides the best chance for a 50-50 outcome.
