My read from these games is that MC has been losing a lot in practice lately. Thus, he's relying on a new style that's relatively untested and that he's not fully comfortable with.

When you don't have detection at 17 minutes, you wont win a series at the pro level. If you didn't tell me it was MC, I'd think it was just some random guy from masters Kr ladder.

transitive property never works in competition.
But MC has looked bad lately. Losing in Ro32, losing to aLive in Code A, getting stomped by DRG, and then lost a match in MvP that had he won, wouldve made the playoffs.
I wish GSL had a closer format to OSL. I would love a 3rd place match between Rain and Taeja. I also like that OSL only plays 1 match from each group per day instead of playing an entire group in one day. More different players each day + someone can't just have a bad day and be knocked out until the ro8.

I dont want all tournaments to be the same. Variety is a good thing. Also there is no need for a third place match in Code S because everybody in Ro8 gets a seed where in OSL, 3rd place does and 4th does not.

Well even with that style of group play GSL would still be way different. Just the fact that you can't go from qualifying to winning in a single season makes it a massively different tournament. I think that way of doing group play is just better in pretty much every way. It's better for both players and spectators. Probably a bit harder for the organizers though.
I feel with the way MC responded in his recent interview, that the fire and hunger in him has been extinguished. He has no real desire to win because he feels like he's got nothing to prove.Hopefully this loss can awaken him.
Either that's the case... or the twitter fight with Jessica really drained MC.
On October 20 2012 14:15 Jaedong4thOSL wrote: Did Jessica get to MC? Dealing with all those drama, can't practice well.
I feel like something is affecting him from all the drama, in his previous statements I remember him calling out Jessica before he played a match, something in regards to "grouping him" with someone else, I guess someone not respectable.
Shit. I've tried to deny the Elephant for so long... I think tonight's Code S might be the last time we see an ESF champion for a while though. It HURTS to see MC get dismantled like this.
Impeccable macro by Last that game, and his micro during those battles to pick off colossi was amazing.
Mc is just killing himself tonight... especially in that game 3... those forcefields MC why... you are the BEST forcefielder on the planet and you continuously make mistakes like that in crucial moments of games... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
that and one of the best unit control players on the planet using 1 hotkey for whole army...of course

while the elephants are getting really good, MC hasn't been looking himself lately, he also got crushed by aLive
MC's build is starting to make a little sense but he's making key mistakes that make it look awful. His blink gives him some map control if terran attacks and the ability to cancel a super fast 3rd
Game 1: Doesn't reinforce his main from drops when he takes the 3rd and gets spread too thin Game:2: Doesn't get a robo until 16 minutes (WTF?) Game 3: Crushes the T push, kills 2 medvacs and a handful of marines but doesn't check the 3rd instead he goes to the main to kill some add ons, gets the reactor on the startport but takes forever to make colossus.

Not trapping your zealot force between 2 walls of forcefields...herp
All i think MC plays like this for long period. He is good in All-in strategy or short game but in long game he is not good. He get champion bec of amulet. That's all i know. In late game, he is very bad.
OGN should really show player cams right on the play screen. Right where the unit portraits would normally be, you can put them there and take away no information from the game.

He had a nice drop defense in game 1 but he had to use them to defend from Last's main force, if anything i would say he didnt reinforce his main fast enough after last retreated, but also his robo was very late and he couldnt know when Last would go for drops or continue engaging at middle. Game 2 he was down like 20 probes ~.~ not sure why, then also a very late robo. yea i agree in game 3

I dont see how that could have any affect on him in his choice of going back to SKT at all.

oh that was just a joke man! and I thought Jessica saw it not Boxer? anyways this thread is not the place for such drama I don't think, don't want to infect the LR threads, this should be a place of happiness

MC called Genius "SlayerS trash," not "trash team." Let's not put (wrong) words into his mouth.

You said that MC has done nothing which was what I responded to. But you are right this isn't the thread for that. My first post was more about being an anti MC fan because of his shenanigans.

Seeding. 3rd place gets a seed. Maybe you don't care about that though.

anyone know why 2 base robo allins popular on this map? im trying to analyze the map architecture but i cant exactly pinpoint why so many Protoss players reluctant to take fast 3rd on Ohana

It's not that, it's the fact that there are two choke points Terran needs to defend--- when playing as a Terran, you need bunkers to defend which cost money & force you to prepare defenses at two choke points. It's something that is an abuse-able feature of the terrain.
The other reason would be the map is "slightly small" in size compared to many others, like Daybreak, Atlantis Spaceship, etc.
MC switching from templar to colossus this last few games (not including the 4 gate) and its working better for him, will Last be prepared or not yet. I am not sure about going colossus on daybreak, maybe only to all in off 2 base. edit: ohh 1 gate 3 base.
On October 20 2012 15:03 JJH777 wrote: What this is still going...? I quit after the 4-gate game figuring Last would just take the next one to end it 4-1.
Gogo mc. Quick 2 gate proxy win. Just hope it won't cause Last to retire or something. Never heard of a 0-3 to 4-3 comeback, and never imagined seeing 2 in a row.

What did last do wrong there? I'm honestly asking cause I have no idea what he could've done besides make more bunkers. Which is pretty hard to read when your opponent took such a fast 3rd.

He pretty much got where he is by learning how to abuse maps really well. You can see a lot of that in his first couple of championship runs especially.
Last needs to play safe, he has died twice when going 3 rax cc and also has to be prepared for colossus, templar tech didnt really work for MC; and i dont see him going templars again.
Oh right, Antiga Shipyard = Protoss Graveyard or something? haha
Well, it would just make my day if MC were to come back from 0-3, wow I missed this whole series. He hasn't been doing too hot lately so it would be amazing to see him win this ><
Last is quite ahead, got his upgrades already and medivacs and has like a 10 worker lead... maybe something in favor of MC is that Last's main is getting mined out
huuuuuuuuuge mistake from last by losing that 3rd CC, im not sure if he could have held at his 3rd instead of getting contained and omg is Last really going to lose this?

By the way, I'm surprised that this LR thread had so little activity, and the stream had such low viewership (7k ish). Yes, I know OSL is on Korean TV, which is huge, but it's surprising that a major OSL match would have such little online viewership and activity.

Not popular enough and GSL>OSL
The seed aside, it was still a third-place match (filler).
cheese sun to go up 3-0, loses macro games mc to go up 3-0, loses
Poor last, reverse all-kill Flash then get double reverse all-killed in 2 different way. It must be devastating
Yeah I feel bad for him. I remember a long time ago losing in a semi finals when up 2-0 (and had I won would have easily won tournament) and then lost next 3. Worst feeling ever holy shit does it feel like crap. I can't imagine doing it twice in a row TT. I feel really bad for him.
poor last, did he win with cheese or straight up games to make it 3-0? Didnt watch the series but thats pretty harsh for him to ve been 3-0 in two osl series and coming off short

Haha yea. Then MC decided that he was more suited to his typical aggressive style and boomzz :D
LOL Last... Two times in a row. How humiliating that must make him feel. I think he should also be confident that he plays well enough to win a series!
