The time has come for our thirty-ninthIGN Pro League Fight Club! This is a weekly king of the hill showmatch series. Basically, there will be a 1 vs. 1 best of 9 showmatch each and every week, where the winner will earn a $500 prize and a $100 bounty on their head. For example, if a player wins three weeks in a row they will have earned $1,500 and a $300 bounty. If a NEW challenger defeats him, they will earn $500 for the showmatch, take the $300 bounty home, and have a new $100 bounty placed on their head for each week that they win.
When: Monday, Oct 29 11:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) (we will also broadcast the match repeatedly afterwards!)
TSL's HyuN is a ridiculous human being. He has now won Fight Club for eleven weeks in a row! He defeated former SlayerS`Brown 5 - 3 last week to add another trophy to his mantle! His additional victims include IPL4 winner, aLive, IPL4 runner-up Squirtle, and GSL Semifinalists FXO.GuMiho and ByuN.Prime and Liquid`Sea. Can Life finally take down HyuN and claim $500 and an amazing $1100 bounty!
HyuN < Entombed Valley > Life HyuN < Daybreak > Life HyuN < Atlantis Spaceship > Life HyuN < Cloud Kingdom > Life HyuN < Ohana > Life HyuN < Whirlwind > Life HyuN < Antiga Shipyard > Life HyuN < Metropolis > Life HyuN < Khaydaria > Life
While Life is a ZvZ god and the recent GSL champion, HyuN is no ZvZ slouch and is capable of playing with the big boys. FC happens to be HyuN's playground, so I doubt he will surrender the title easily.
This will be such an epic clash of amazing zerg players. Hence, I think it will be at least as terrible as Seed vs MC in the Code S finals. Somehow, the better the players in a mirror matchup, the worse the actual games. :p

TvT would like a word with you
Life is crazy good. I mean his ling control is crazy. Probably the man with the most momentum right now. With that in mind,
Holy crap this match is gonna be amazing. If Life, who is reigning Code S champion and has one of the best ZvZ in the world, can't take HyuN down, I'm not sure who can besides some KeSPA players.
Both players have a lot of momentum, Hyun has won Fight Club countless times, but Life is Life, a ZvZ monster and a GSL champion, too. Life should win by all means, but I think it'll be closer than people expect and I'd never ever count Hyun out in Fight Club.
I think this will be incredible. Top level ZVZ can be incredible to watch. Remember last seasons GSTL of NSH vs Zenex? Incredible matches, and I expect this to be no different.

Hahah, I thought of adding a disclaimer about TvT, but when you think about it, most TvT finals are horribly one-sided. :D Think Mvp vs MKP and Top! Because of this, I think TvT usually has been great when it's a bit sloppy as well, and when it's not the absolute best players duking it out. *hides*
I feel like Life has the edge here, but judging by Hyun's twitter, he's pretty excited about tonight's match. Or at least, he's proud of his run so far. Wonder when this was played. Rooting for Hyun.
Hyun 5:4 Life maybe? Going to give the edge slightly to Hyun because its fight club, but this match is really tough to call, and I'm really looking forward to it.

If HyuN wins I reaaaaaaally hope Parting gets a shot next time. He hasn't been on yet and it'd be hilarious to see how many times he goes for an Immortal Sentry all-in.

There you have it... He lost to Shine! Clearly his only weakness is TSL Zergs. HyuN takes it 5-0 xD XD XD
I still haven't seen any reason to deny that Life is the best ZvZ player in the world right now, but he hasn't had a televised ZvZ since wrecking NesTea and for all I know he may not have been practicing it.
I dunno.. i can really see it going both ways. Life maybe a beast in ZvZ and a GSL Champ but Hyun is no slouch in ZvZ and somehow I think he figured this online best of 9 format. Looking forward to this battle regardless.

Hey guys! Glurkenspurk here with my boi Kevin Knocke! Welcome to IPL fighting battle thing 20 or whatever the hell it is I don't even know!
Today we're going into a game with TSL Hundles vs ST Liver! Sorry, not much game knowledge!
What I like about HyuN's ZvZ are the subtle little things he does to get ahead, such as using Contaminate and Burrow, which I rarely see other Zergs use.
Solid game by HyuN, defending a 6 Pool when going 15 Hatch, and riding the momentum well. Looks like Life is defeated in a Bo3 :p
Man, I really should apply to the caster challenge actually, think I could do a better job than this guy. (Admirable though it may be, he's just not really "connecting" with me right now, you know?

The caster search video? It was first shown last week, and has been in the rebroadcast reels. If you want to watch it over and over, it's on their youtube channel too. But yeah, that thing is amazing.
It's pretty interesting that Life is doing all these pressure builds now. He was one of the most stubborn macro ZvZ players back in May; he would try to beat everything with 15 hatch.

He had no larvae. While life was attacking his 4th he had 3k/3k in the bank and sat at 140 supply without makng a unit, just shoddy macro

Out of larva due to bad injects, just as the casters pointed out. Weird to see someone on HyuN's level do that kind of mistake though.
Another great game, Hyun messing up his injects. The second caster is doing a good job. You also have to give credit to Kevin - he adapts perfectly to whoever he's casting with.

Indeed. Best for IGN if HyuN wins - That's a 500$ prize. But if Life wins, it's a 1600$ prize due to the bounty on HyuN. That's... a lot
They're going to be paying it out sooner or later anyway, and if there's only ever one person winning in such an event it can stagnate quite a bit, it's probably better if Life wins and they get some new blood in there for viewership.

Yeah. Could be HyuN is just nervous, because that's definitely not like him. But he has stated before that his play deteriorates if he's nervous, and a GSL champion might just cause that.

I think its good for viewership, if Hyun wins again, because everyone wants to see the Dominator fall. Its kind of a hype train, which woul die, if he looses today.
This pretty powerful push is perilous for the purple player due to the proximity of his opponent's production. He'd prefer a plausibly perfect picture so he pulls back.

Life seems a little less than motivated this series, cheesing on Metropolis is a good metagame, but I think HyuN is adept enough at seeing the patterns in Life's play.

Meh, I've seen better. He still has not busted out the +1/+1 zergling build.
In case the casters are reading this, HyuN is not investing in upgrades because he knows he is ahead in almost every aspect, so all he has to do is max out on Roach/Hydra/Infestor and roll over Life.

Life was pretty sloppy with that Muta/Roach attack which I think he hoped would end the game. If he microed a little better, Life would have won there.
I only woke up in time to watch game 9, but it was worth it. I think Life could have taken the game with better decision making in the middle, but those two poor attacks really set him back.

They should get parting in, and once parting wonwonwons the crap out of hyun, they should throw ten zergs in a row at parting and call it the WonWonWon Fight Club

I agree, but TaeJa should wait until Parting or an IM Protoss has a shot.
ForGG didn't played in IPL FC yet. I think it could be a good choice. Anyway, there aren't many great players remaining who can show a good opposition to HyuN. If HyuN loses I think IPL can take back players who have already played.

I just realised I really want to see Scarlett overthrow HyuN. After her destruction of Nerchio and VortiX in the Russian Starleague it seems possible. Pretty please with sugar on top, IPL? <3
