After a convincing start with the very interesting group A where one of the four Paris’ adventurers fell, Iron Squid steps it up bringing in the group B. Although all the groups could legitimately be considered as the group of death, group B might be the real deal. Two GSL champions, the BWC runner up and the Eastern Europe macro beast, this is going to be a tough one.
It was quite surprising but it took a really long time for LG-IM’s Protoss to breakthrough. Seed and YongHwa were both really promising in team leagues but they needed months to confirm their skills in the individual ones. Even if he had to wait for long, Seed rose quickly to the top as it took him only two seasons in GSL to become a Code S champion. It is not easy to be in the shadow of great champions such as NesTea and Mvp, and once Seed had grabbed the GSL title, people had great expectations. Sadly for him he did not go that well after his victory. He slowly entered a slump that was confirmed by his elimination from the GSL. With his invitation in Iron Squid II, Seed has the perfect opportunity to show he is a real champion.
Life, the two times qualified
For the last months Life has been –to say the least- impressive. The Zerg already managed to qualify for the first chapter of Iron Squid and he did it again this time as he reached the finals of the Korean qualifiers. But he achieved far more impressive feats in the meantime as he scored an impressive back to back GSL-MLG win. His qualification is a good thing for the Iron Squid fans who welcome one more GSL champion in the tournament but it is not as cool for his group who get to face a monster. Life is maybe only 15 but he plays so well that almost nobody can beat him.
The face up
Seed was really unlucky when Life was determined as his first opponent, basically the toughest qualified players he could get. Life is clearly the favorite in this match and if he can’t find back the genius plays that brought him the GSL title, Seed is going to have a bad time. There’s hope for Seed though, Brown clearly showed that Life was beatable when he dismantled him in the finals of the Korean qualifier, it is up to Seed to study his opponent.
Creator, the Protoss prodigy
Among all the good Protoss that made their way to the top this year, Creator is one of the best. He is also among the most accomplished ones as he won both TSL 4 and WCS Korea. Unlike Seed, Creator never really stopped improving and did not have to go through a slump. GSL Code S was his nemesis so far but he finally managed to reach the round of 8 being the last Protoss to survive. To top it all, he is also PartinG’s runner up at the Blizzard World Cup. Creator is always getting stronger and is one of the rare players that do not appear weak in any match-up, his opponents are warned.
Kas, Iron Squid’s bad luck Brian
It has to be said, Kas is a great player. He has been competing at the highest level since the very first days of StarCraft II and made a name for himself for being such a macro beast. That being said, there is such thing as being in the wrong place at the wrong moment. Kas is in that very situation. He is a group with three killers from Korea and as good as he is, this is going to be a tough one for the Ukrainian.
The face up
At least, Kas will be happy that he avoids a TvZ, a matchup he deeply loathes at this moment. But to be really honest, the situation is not really better for him, Creator being one of the best PvT out there. Creator is notorious in the match-up, especially for his forge play style. Creator is strong but can be defeated, Bomber proved it during the IPL 5. Kas has to play the games of his life.
About advancing
If the results follow the current shape of the players, Life and Creator are overwhelming favorites to advance in the Ro16. Seed will be a tough challenge as he can win in both PvZ and PvP, h just needs to find his groove back. Regarding Kas, making it through would be one of the greatest upset of the year, but Iron Squid is often filled with surprises.

hope creator advances! and maybe seed? i like him
how and if so what are they?
opterown knows the profiles of the players so he can sort of cross reference the players game list and see who won and lost. However, there can be cases where players remade games and so forth (happens a lot when we try to keep up to date at Code A qualifiers.)
What he means by games not making sense is probably because the order and whom the players should be playing seems off. IE. Say he see Life beating Seed and Creator beating Kas. Then logically, Life should play Creator and Seed plays Kas. But maybe he doesn't see this and so it has confused him about the results.
This group is sick ! Nice job in uchronia for the music too ! Ogaming Crew is really doing this right, good job.
I hope the international stream will make some effort to have the same realisation quality as the ogaming studio in french stream, anyway this tournament is already so good =)

Either way, looking forward to this. Showmatch should be fun, again. Dimaaa! :>
It has been submitted around 9am this morning
You completely sure about that? I decided to submit it as well right after I posted that, and I just got notified that it was approved. I set the time for 8 CET though, when the showmatch starts.
I'm sorry, didn't know you'd submitted it. At least it's there now, and all the correct information is in the calendar

technically, everything is operated by the French crew in Paris. I sent a feedback with all the feedback I read on Wednesday, hope you guys will enjoy tonight's show
Kas ! I want to believe ! This is not a zerg, you can do it ! I really want Kas and seed to pass but life will be pain.
Also please speak with the international team and tell them to play the winner theme of a player when he wins,i mean ffs we are watching Iron Squid the tourney which has its own soundtracks, its not a privilege that french viewers should have.
(Apart from that i realize that it is hard for 2 casters at home to do better than the ogaming crew production wise)

Once again, Day9 & Kaelaris and Khaldor&wolf are not dealing with the production. The English stream is ran from the studio in Paris.
Theme songs is one of the points I noticed and should be played tonight on the English Stream as well
Oh my god that Yelle song :D Didn't hear it for so long, thanks dude. btw : don't know if you get the lyrics, but it's actually pretty hardcore and is plain and simple full trash talk toward a french mc.

I barely know enough French to survive a day in Paris, so I don't understand half of it. I just love Yelle.

Watched yelle live in malmö last spring, there was some pretty cool dancing going on.

I used to be a "free-worker?" at the vip bar of a french festival (Les Vieilles Charrues if you know it), it was just behing the main stage, all i could see was her booty shaking like crazy, TENSE moments serving in those conditions :D

I think Chloroplaste was mostly referring to the offline event and the studio presence: during the first IS, the french casters were at this awesome custom-themed desk while the english ones were disembodied voices haunting the stream.
Aww, they're both in Khaldor's bedroom again, so cute. Actually it's great since a dual cast works way better when both casters are in the same room instead of the same Skype call.

Yesss, I love it. Gonna be sad when Khaldor moves elsewhere. I'll miss that wall decor.

Isn't that the gomhouse? I heard rumours that it was closing.
This might not be very usefull but since these showmatches are some kind of a ''king of the hill'' shouldn't we add this to the liquipedia article of IronSquid ? You know just make a little section about it.

Your poll kinda spoils the results, LeLfe.
true but who would recommend an immortal all in anyway? rather have fun with a warning
Well, you could indicate an immortal all in without revealing the outcome, it's just "too much soul" implying that the all in worked, which it did. "Yes", "no" and "if your soul has time" would've worked just as fine, but either way I don't care, I watched the whole damn thing anyway.
Keep it up, you're doing good work with these threads.
Kas has great TvP, sad he couldn't close it out, he really had an advantage there, looked good and then lost. That doesn't bode well for the rest of the series, hopefully he managed to stabilize.

Are the brackets for ro16 going to be random with seeds based on group results, or are they fixed, like winner of group A plays runner up of group B etc?
The songs between the games are awesome. Did they release a playlist somewhere? Or is this music from their "own" orchestra that made the player intros during Iron Squid 1?

Which doesn't work on this map.
Edit: I miswrote main for nat in my first post, d'oh.
Life had more than enough stuff to win the direct battle and leave a few roaches behind. He never attacked the main.
Right, but Parting's plan is to be able to wall off his main entirely in case of a counterattack, warping in a few sentries (Creator did too) and then push with his wonwonwon, knowing that his army will beat the Zerg one. Of course, that's not a given and obviously failed in this game. My only point was that it was weird that Creator didn't prepare a wall-off of his main like Parting does.
life also did 15hatch into 3rd base at 3:30 which is a very good opening (yet a risky one) and creator lost something like 5 to 10 seconds to kill 4-5 lings ? :/
I'd like to see how this build order goes on a more protoss friendly map. Usually if the zerg tries a counter attack you should go straight to his 2nd base but it seems harder on this map.
Seriously, Creator, that was dumb. I won't complain cause Life will advance, but still. That was not a good decision to attack in that choke with fungal/spinecrawlers headbutting colossi.

I think he's lost his passion a bit since he won the championship. He still practices hard and all but I think his interest in the game has kind of died off.
Kas really was close to beating Creator, Seed gave him confidence, I believe Kas benefits more from adjustments than Creator does, just be careful of fighting on ramps Kas.

Kas did really well against Seed, so I was worried for Creator who played very sloppy in his games against Life and Kas before. But the Kid got his stuff together in the end and recovered. But he could've beaten Life without those silly mistakes like losing those 2 colossus in game3... Well played by Life/Creator/Kas but another chapter in the downfall of Seed I guess.

Come on opterown, deliver.
Yeah, I've been waiting for ages now.

creator beats seed WLW (daybreak - ww - ck), and then loses to life WLL (ohana - abyssal - antiga) afterwards. the strange thing is I couldn't find the results for seed vs. life (which should have been played as match 1) nor any of kas' results either (which most likely would have been played on NA).
that's pretty much it, strange since seed-creator never was played.

All of Kas games are there: First Creator LWL on Whirlwind Ohana Daybreak, then WW (L due to cloaked TSL map) against Seed and then the two losses against Creator again. You failed there, opterown, you failed!
Also, for LeLfe, the map you list as "Ground Laggon" in the OP is Whirlwind, and in general, if the other map is played it should be spelled Grand Lagoon which as the same tileset as Ohana. Sorry, thx.

see, when I checked it, it only had the games up to the 22nd on there haha :p plus it's difficult to cross reference since i don't actually know the link to creator's beryl account
the main difficulty is that creator played seed before he played life lol, when that match didn't happen. the only real way in which match order would have happened that way would be:
life > seed kas > creator kas > life creator > seed life > creator
