Wonder who's gonna come out on top. STX using their most powerful players in the first three matches while Woongjin elects to save its own aces for the final three. Should be interesting.
So did Light go on some sort of two month hyperbolic time chamber training session with Ryu Won? He was 5-1, vanished (didn't even show up for Code A qualifiers), and now reappears at the end of R1.
This is a very even match on paper, would like to see STX take it because I think they deserve to be higher in the rankings. Also Last needs to win for FPL.

Spiffy!
Always love their outfits:
Haaa, yes! I took a screenshot of that yesterday too!
Edit: Speaking of screenshots, one could have snapped korean girls' actual faces for a bit there. The one on the left was unusually unfazed though!

I think he was sick, that was why he didn't get sent out in the first few rounds.

Bravo plays funny...anyone see the mad game he played against Taeja where he did a sort of 1/1/1 with the rax and fact proxied, it got scouted but still did a lot of damage and kept Taeja contained the whole game. I hated it but I gotta respect the guys balls.

I haven't looked at the map very much but I think its pretty awesome. Think it may have to do with tight chokepoints and how the terrain is laid out. Either way, its awesome.
Really liking Innovation's play here. Using the map, taking multiple key positions and just restricting Bravo. It's sexy. But sometimes I look at the little armies he has in certain parts of the map and think...couldn't you just make a few marauders and crush through that?
EDIT: But thinking about it, it's really this map allowing Innovation to play with mech style imo.
Here you go, just add some kespa-made maps, some good kespa-terrans and you have bw-style TvT in sc2! It even offers some references to wraith\bc late game mech.

It's exactly the same as hundreds of TvT's that have been played since 2011.
Bogus committing to an air battle right before his 3/3 upgrades finish, but it doesn't really matter.

hundreds of TvT's ended up in a 200\200 battle, not in the war of attrition, just look at the minimap here - glorious siege lines, the game of symmetries.

MKP's bio style during the beginning of 2012 kinda teared this style apart so people reverted back to the Marine-Tank more and more.
Yeah guys i've been following the scene as well, but i honestly do not remember much games as strategic as this one. They would pretty often end by a good\terrible run by.

It's funny because at the time tasteless and artosis were freaking out saying " this is the best TvT you guys have ever seen, it's the future of TvT's " and a year and a half later here we are with most TvT's being marine/tank or cheese and ending before the supreme lategame.

It's just really rare to get a TvT that fills the correct criteria for that kind of game. First there has to be no cheese or it has to stabilize, then they both have to not die until being stuck on 3 or even 4 bases is not enough economy to keep reproducing, then you need them to both be going mech and not bio.
the game we just saw was definitely one of the best positional mech vs mech games I've ever seen, which is to be expected since the level of play has risen so much since 2011. comparing it to those old games is kind of unfair.

I think the maps have a lot to do with it. Daybreak and CK probably are the best maps for mech. But maps like WW, Abysal are just really hard to do mech on. And even Antiga, Ohana, entombed has really large middle areas were you can get flanked very easily.

Hey, at least Fantasy's bio control is improved for TvZ so it's not all lost right (until you let Zerg techs up to Infestor/BL comfortably).

It may also have to do with his motivation since Bio is easier to control mechanically, but zerg is harder to play against. I hope he can become a beast again

Good player, but I think he's coaching now more than playing. If he starts seeing more playtime he's a very good pickup for anyone. His skillset seems to have transferred really well from BW.

I wanted to have him on the main team but since he wasnt in the line-up in first week I decided against it. I've pretty much been waiting for him to get play-time. If he's in next weeks line-up I'll definitely look into trading for him.
Light is going to end up relatively cheap next round. My amateur tip for fantasy proleague. I will take him in shy's place, cause he is going to be one of the most expensive players next round.
bduddy, did you see the stalker pop out in between marines or was there a delay in production before then? Otherwise his macro slipped while he was micromanaging or he actually didn't have enough resources, I guess.

Somehow he still had the resources to start the utterly pointless Warp Gate upgrade. There was definitely a gap between the two Stalkers, if he just held the top of his ramp with Probes and that one Stalker while chrono-ing out the second one I think he would have held.
The stream went to crap again. I'm starting to think that it's, because of the maps. During the Kespa maps the stream is awesome. On Ohana and TA it's crap.

After the fight with the first stalker and such (at least 20 seconds), the observer clicked back on the gateway and another stalker was just starting, and I'm pretty sure nothing came out in between, so... Probably just a micro mistake, but not one he could afford to make!
how in the hell did zero just flip this game around in his favor? zero was getting his ass kicked, now he's winning. lucky for zero that youngjoo is new.
That was pretty shaky by Zero, you get the feeling that he would have got rolled if his opponent was anyone other than a rookie playing in his first televised game.
Goddamn. I feel bad for Size, he was ahead for the most parts of the game only to botch his advantage in the last big battle by popping his infested terrans waaay to late. ZerO just won this game by placing his infested terrans earlier and thus doing way more damage.
Anyone else find it awesome when the english casters take turns talking and it lines up perfect with what we see the korean casters doing? (Doesn't happen that much but it reminds me of those old Godzilla movies!)
i'd recommend this game if you want to know what happens when you don't wall off, or don't do anything to stop run-by's, or don't push your advantage when you have it.

I think that the biggest contributor to mech never becoming the favored style was the nerf to blue flame. Prior to it, we were seeing TvT slowly move toward being exclusively mech, and then as soon as the nerf hit everyone went back to playing that god awful marine only style for a while before we saw marine/tank and mech come back into standard play.
Kinda true, vultures was in fact a hard counter to bio whereas hellions suck against mmm. Anyways i consider the shitty tank to be the main reason for mech to suck against everything (sometimes even against zerg amoving mass roaches into sieged terran).

vultures werent the hard counter, tanks were
well early on they rape rines so it was unnatural to open up a macro game with bio against mech, unless you got some sneaky build. But yes, tanks are bad and back then they were good, and it makes the difference, i was pointing to it myself.
And I can't believe Dear got thrown out in the ace match! My fantasy team might be in the best shape but picking up Dear has turned out to be an awesome choice thus far. I know he isn't exactly the best player but I'm still anxious to see what he can do in an individual league.

It's just surprising why he hasn't been played before this. Could be he took a break for awhile (explaining his absence from last Code A's prelims)?
