because they have two aces in Fantasy and Rain
Taeja is pretty well rounded and should be able to put up a fight against either opponent. Who would you put in? hero did just lose to Rain as well and JD seems more of a zerg specialist atm.

Seems like a good reason to me. Hero, JYP, Puma, Zenio, Jaedong, Thorzain would all have lost, I can say that with confidence. Taeja is now 0-5 vs Rain. It was a poor decision. I still disagree, but that's okay. That's what's so wonderful about opinions!! :D

Zenio or Jaedong may be better option against Rain, considering he's slumping in pvz. But how can you know it will definitely be Rain, Fantasy is pretty good and some other players can also come up, SKT got a deep lineup. Taeja is the best option at that point.
Btw, if a player can never win against an opponent, and afraid of fighting that opponent, then he doesn't deserve to be a pro. He needs to face strong opponents to make himself stronger.

Very good results by EG-TL over all in Round 1.
It will be hard to catch KT in round 2, but second place after round 2 is very possible.

So sad that Jaedong lost the ZvZ to such a simple mistake

JD would not have been a good choice, considering how bad his ZvP is.
To be honest, I was hoping for JYP to go out and snipe Rain with a PvP build.

Honestly I'd prefer Thorzain out instead of puma 100% of the time. Thorzain looks like hes working seriously hard, while puma just looks plain embarassing. At least when Thorzain goes out it looks like he planned extensively and just lost because of nerves or whatever, puma looks like he doesn't even plan but for 5 minutes...

Wahh, this is unfortunate. Always really fun to watch regardless.

Well it almost looks like the ace map is a really good protoss map. Could be wrong, but I almost feel they should have played a protoss on it.
Oh well at least they didn't get smashed!

A pun that needs explaining has already lost the point, sorry. I disagr2

Oh well, still pretty good results overall for EG-TL nothing to be ashamed i think. Next year will be even better.

Yeah I dont think Puma honestly played that bad at all he just made a few small mistakes and was outplayed by fantasy who is arguably the better player overall. Puma just looked bad because Fantasy is so good you can tell fantasy thinks about all the little things from his tank line positioning to being ready for drops anywhere he just out thought Puma from the beginning. Of course his macro/micro about as good as it gets but most of these guys are good at this.

man rain is the real deal, such a pity he got out of GSL

I understand people have issues with it, but it's just not a problem to me. Probably because I'm so used to terrible pronounciations from fellow Norwegians, as well as the casting from people like Khaldor, Grubby, ToD, Rotterdam and so on. I have no issues with pronunciation of words or accents. But, - Calling the game minutes before it is over. (I really dislike this, because it's a caster trying to sound like he understands the game, and in this case failing). - Calling a boatload of plays and then the opposite occurring. (just do play by play). - Explaining something that happens in the game, but making no sense. Just cast the game, don't play the annalist when you clearly don't know the game that well. (And No I'm not saying I could do better) I know all the casting duo's can't be like Tastetosis, and you might not even like Nick and Dan, but they cast to their strengths. These casters should play to their strengths and what could set them apart. They have good enthusiasm and they have a guy that knows Korean. So IMO, just do the play by play, NO analysis, but they can discuss the game of course - on their own level - Translate what the people are saying and what is on cheer-fulls (in Korean). Listen in on the Korean casters and give an update on what they are thinking. And one thing they could improve on immediately , research, I heard them saying there are no records on this match-up, but in this tread statistics pop up, probably from Liquipedia. If they want to sound smart, use the resources available.
Yeah, because Tastosis has never called a game minutes before it was over. And they never called a boatload of plays and then the opposite occuring...
Every caster will make mistakes when they try to predict the outcome of games/engagements. Even pro players misjudge engagements so it will also happen to every caster. Artosis, Tasteless, Wolf, Apollo, Khaldor has called builds they thought for sure would happen and it didn't turn out that way. If they could predict the games, then we wouldn't need to have them play out. Just have the players show their opening to the casters and then they can decide who wins...

Then maybe you should apply for coach of EG-TL... Always nice to see armchair quarterbacks... I would love to see you play PuMa on ladder and see how he would own you in 5 miunutes.

Isn't that exactly his point? PUMA is very good, but Fantasy is better.

Well the opponent expects Taeja so im sure that most of the other teams study his play Yup. Can't really fault either team for their decision though. Realistically EGTL could've sent out Taeja or Hero, Rain prepared for Taeja, but most likely could've out PvPed Hero if necessary. SKT1 could've sent out SOO or Rain (in my opinion. Fantasy too perhaps). Hero's been slumping in PvZ (better recently though), but Taeja's TvZ is still pretty great, and if Rain is out there you want Taeja. In the end it comes down to the players themselves, Taeja hasn't had much nerve issues in the past (far less than Hero especially), but perhaps it is something he needs to improve upon. You know Rain was 4-0 vs Taeja going into yesterday right? and 3-0 vs Hero. I think JD would have been the best bet.
Yes, because Jaedong is 0-9 in his last 9 ZvP.... There is a reason that JD is being sent out on TDA. Yes, his ZvZ is really good. But also, it is to shield him away from ZvPs...
