I've just thought that there are no Empire players at sc2tv.ru event again. Didn't know that there's an issue between them.

I think it was a conflict about streaming on sc2tv.ru and money related to that or something along those lines with Empire and Dimaga. Someone posted about it in some RSL thread but I can't find it anymore.
With Verdi it's just that he doesn't get along with Adolf and the other organizers/casters (or the other way around, I don't really know).
Oh, since you're Ukrainian, you can just read the comments here, I guess. There's a bit of info.
Have not seen Supernova in a while. How has he been looking in HotS? He had some good drop action going on, I would imagine that his speedivacs are insane.

Thanks! There's just a bit of info there. I guess i'll ask Dimaga or HappyZerg (he was also mentioned there) about the situation. But now i'll better root for Strelok!

No clue, just saw Thorzain tweeting that he needed a mid masters player to come to the RSL channel and put two and two together. And since it's not listed in the calendar here I thought it couldn't hurt to post because maybe someone would want to watch.
I've never heard of it before, but I assume there's lots of stuff going on on Russian sites and streams that the English-speaking community isn't (made) aware of. Could be both.
Proleague and GSTL are big LANs with even bigger prizepool, RSL is played completely online.. you can't compare both. It's a borderline event and being completely online pushes it towards major tournament I guess. Again, this is my humble opinion..
I love the tourneys you guys host, but is it really necessary to replace every 0 by an o, it looks ridiculous o_O If you really want to create some contrast between the leading digit and the rest just use [ big ] or [ small ] tags, e.g. $4000 (big $4), or $4000 (small 000, better looking than big $4 and closer to what you have now).
Anyways, cheering for TitaN today, he always uses cool strats

It's always the same with TLO. I am a huge fan and I love his playstyle, but it's nearly always very very nail-biting...
Actually, his performance at HSC and Dreamhack his games were not so random, he was either solidly ahead, overrun (by the likes of Teaja each time), or he was neck and neck. His decision making and underlying macro have improved so much in the last two months, but his games today reflect some of his old decision making so I hope he shakes that loose and finishes as a winner in this group!
TLO was gifted the game here. He only had 3 structures remaining in his main. And his overwhelming army doesn't guarantee him the ability to magically win the game given that ToD had a lot more buildings than him.

Kidding? TLO had another base at the bottom right and Tod was revealed and had no money for a nexus...

TLO had a base and, I think, a hidden extractor (which I saw on the production tab toward the end of the basetrade).

Mutalisks cannot defend 2 places at the same time. Especially since he had to attack the top right to win. ToD couldn't possibly win either on its own but TLO didn't have the game totally in his hands. A single bad decision and he was without structures.

Well perhaps you read too much into what I said. ToD could have been an asshole and run around the map waiting for TLO to lose his patience.
And TLO decides to do the same with Dayshi here. Giving him the game despite not being in an unwinnable position.

This was a really entertaining group and Khaldor made it even better, great casting !

You're absolutely right. I didn't really mean his past games, but more his recent games like you mentioned. It's just that his games always look closer than they need to be. I personally love his ZvZ with the aggressive ling/bling style (funny that Snute plays a complete different style with the roach speed timing). A good example of a nail-biting game is the first (?) game vs MC @HSC, where he transitioned into mass muta. It wasn't close at all in the end, but it all depended on whether MC scouts the build or not.
Aaaannnddd he's out. T.T It seems that TvZ is his worst matchup atm.

Both good and funny! Except maybe the last game Neo Planet S that was pretty lackluster.
I'd have to agree just based off these games and the games he played against Lucifron in WCS and at the same time MVP. Dayshi's been killing though, so no hardship in losing to someone who's tearing shit up.

The first Dayshi-TLO series was really good. The other matches were either good or entertaining.
I'm rooting for LucifroN above everyone else and then Bly, I guess. He's always been an interesting player and he usually keeps it with fresh with the strategies and changes up his playstyle.

Is there any possibilities that I can make some of the lag go away? Delete cookies, switching browser (I'm at Chrome atm)? Don't want to be a whinger, but it's unwatchable at 360p with 40/40 Internet (Norway).

Yeah, just Nathanias' that didn't work properly. Fanx for the tip.
Really good draws, evenly spread over the whole bracket. So tomorrow are the first matches played. Any chance you also know which ones? I would appreciate an update on this.
If nathanias is not available today, then I will be casting in English. I apologize for not being the pro caster he is, but I will try my best to put my focus in to the game.

If Life moves his force of 10ish lings to that building third, he will cancel it and be ahead.
It's a risk by SuNo and it paid off due to Life's bad scouting.
Mhmm, and supernovas quick tank really paid off. Makes me wonder if on certain maps a quick third is an option for terran if they get a siege tank or two, no more siege research has got to have some benefits.

I can update liquipedia if I get the chance to watch the games
Lucifron was in the lead for the whole game but man, dragging it out like that vs. protoss is always dangerous. But I guess it is good for his confidence that he won in such a long macro game
I have to agree with the score of the Aligulac predictions. HyuN and Luci are very strong when it comes to online tournaments, but I think HyuN is just a tad bit more successful recently in tournament showings. Bomber should have the advantage against Dayshi but I think he will drop one game at least.

This game is so confusing. Both took a significant hit to their economy, HyuN is going for every tech path possible and LucifroN is transitioning out of Mech into Bio.
LucifroN's rather late third is going to give the economy edge to HyuN, who is preparing with a big Roach/Bane/Muta bust.

Just because he searched BFH and Cloak doesn't mean he was going mech.

Yes but after 2 factory bf hellion + banshee and no third cc it would maybe be better to turtle with mech instead going for 2-2 timing later than he would normally hit.

Normally he goes mech afterwards, here he went bio for mindgames. He had lost anyway when he allowed 10 lings to ruin his day in his natural, otherwise he would have been in a okayish position.
Trying to push the ling swarm through a bunch of mines and a couple of siege tanks was probably not such a great idea as the field got covered in blood.
Meh, game was fun and all, but pretty sloppy on both parts. HyuN was far too complacent in his Hellion defense and was floating a ridiculous amount of money and supply blocked constantly. LucifroN was pretty passive and almost gave HyuN the chance to make a comeback.
lucifron was pretty much unkillable once he got the 4th set up as planetary fortress and used bio mine to force hyun stay ling baneling roach for so long.
Lucifron I like Hyun, but would have rather seen Luci go through here.

Not the final one but the one when each player is 1 game away from winning the series. Since it was 2-2 it was an ace match.

The "ace match" refers to the final match of a team league series. The last game is typically between the "ace players" of each team, hence why it is called an "ace match". To use it for an individual match doesn't make sense. garbanzo made his comment because commentators have begun (well, it's been going on for a while now) calling the final game of a Bo5 or Bo7 or whatever the "ace match" which kinda bugs some people because that is not what an ace match is.

I reserve the term "ace match" for the last game in a tied team league series where each team sends their "ace" player to try to get the win for their team.

As far as I know, "ace match" had zero context before Proleague. It is called that there because it is the match between the "aces". To call the do or die match an ace match doesn't make sense because what do you really mean by "ace" in this context? There is no definition of ace where this makes any sense. It'd be fine if you were drawing from some other sport or any other context, but I'm pretty sure no such meaning exists, e.g. see "rubber match".

Wow, this is a sick build for Scarlett in Game 2... only melee attack upgrades, fast hive, very fast ultras, lots of queens and some infestors and finish it with broods

Microing vs WM's in multiple spots is pretty tough, Life should play riskier style ZvT's, he is better than MMA but not that much better, that was 3 base Z vs 1 Base T for a while hehe, Life should have been more aggressive at that point.

Life would probably win games 2 and 3 if not for that stupid opening.
On July 22 2013 22:33 bo1b wrote: Is a thor actually better then a few extra widowmines?
Thor pretty much prevents mutas from sniping widow mines in high Muta count situation, where you can clump them and snipe the widow mines in below 1,5 seconds. Because in that case the Thors delivers pretty much a widow mine splash hit to your mutas, even if it isn't +2 in attack upgrades.
Oh and you can of course kite mutas with a thor with a Medivac, because while you have the drop animation of the thors, he fires directly after it without the setup animation. Air is also priority, so it is rather easy ... well as long as there are no Overlords close.
Feel like MMA is indeed playing well but not as well as he did in some of those TeamStory Cup matches? Doesn't feel like him without the unending marine drops in the mid game but at least he is grinding out these wins! Life probably lost concentration in the last few minutes of game 3 though

well I kinda feel that right after beating someone, you shouldnt really go out in public and say "Pshh hes not that good as everyone hypes."
or "I dont know why people think hes good."
I mean, sure you can talk about who is good or who you dont think is that great,
but this is immediately after beating someone, gota go out in public and say that?
Your opinion on scarlett must be pretty low if every statement you see her make has to be torn apart to find deeper meaning. Apart from that, who cares? Political correctness is a disease past a certain point, and if you can't give an opinion on the skill of someone in a polite fashion then somethings wrong.

I don't know if I would call it BM, but I do find it to be hilariously ironic that someone with zero major tournament wins is talking about not believing the "hype" about someone else.

im from vancouver, I always cheer for her, but i found that public tweet to be simply unnecessary
for example, at Dreamhack Hyun beats Jaedong
then immediately Hyun goes up on stage with Smix and says to everyone, "People call him the Tyrant? Pshh I dont buy that hype."
You dont see how saying something like that in public right after beating someone could be construed as BM?

I can see it of course, but getting offended over something as trivial as that is pathetic. Trash talk happens everywhere, and is entertaining to a certain extent. A statement as polite as "I don't believe the hype" is so far from crossing the line it's unreal.

i never said that I was offended over it, in my original post I just said it "kinda seemed like BM"
saying the statement later on, is different from saying it immediately after beating someone
another example, Innovation beats Soulkey, then Innovation immediately goes up on stage and says to everyone, "People hyped Soulkey up to be good, I dont buy that hype."
what do you think the coaches, players, and audience reaction would be to that statement?
"humble" korean players who always bow and shake hands for example, wouldnt say that immediately after beating someone

Well, WCS NA is considered to be a major tournament. Maybe not a premier, but certainly a major tournament
I don't know... even if the prize-pool of that was $1,000,000, the competition was just not fierce enough for me to consider it to be major.
Basically, Scarlett is one of the most hyped players period, with almost no results to justify said hype. Decent results, especially for a foreigner, but definitely nothing that would be considered good out of any Korean.
edit: It should also be noted that Jim has a way better record against Koreans in HotS so far. 76% vs 48%

Jim, and Chinese players in general, do not have enough of a record for us to base a judgment of skill. They play with an entirely different meta-game that other SC2 players have yet to get used to. After the end of WCS America, we'll have a better idea of where they stand, but at this point, that 76% is statistically insignificant.

I guess 2-0ing Polt who recently won MLG Spring isn't enough of a result to show that Scarlett is more than hype. Despite her lack of #1 in major tournaments that aren't WCS NA, I think she's doing pretty well for herself. Oh, and she went 2-1 v Symbol for a 2-0 in her group while having a wrist injury, just saying.

Well, Scarlett gets hyped because of results as a foreigner. But all foreigners get hyped compare to Koreans with similar records.
Alex Trushlyakov @Alex007UA 23 juli @Startale_Bomber @Startale_Life yeah ok see you on Friday, KR server for Bomber vs HyuN, KR for Life vs Scarlett / NA for Life vs Strelok
Looks like bomber-hyun will be played tomorrow either which gives us..
I don't really see an issue with Scarlett's use of Twitter. What does annoy me is that I know if Naniwa certain others posted similar stuff the pitchforks would be coming out.
I quite enjoy it, bit of feisty trash-talk that doesn't go particularly overboard.

Thing is there's not that many games played on any given day, it's not like an offline tourney played over 2 days on a weekend. You are right though, they keep getting better and better players, it's getting to be a pretty big tourney.
On July 26 2013 19:38 lichter wrote: For such a serious tournament I always wondered why this doesn't have individual LR threads
It actually does have it, just not persistent enough due the scheduling. I believe the organizers show some flexibility towards the players which results in days where there are 5 matches and in other days where you only have 1 match. In these cases, I refrain from doing a LR for that 1 match. We try to do LRs whenever we can tho!
Last but not least, the LRs could use more volunteers!

The solution is probably to have one LR thread for each round. Would be confusing when rounds aren't played in order though @_@
Also this thread is already 33 pages. Would be kinda crummy to break its momentum lol so I guess we can just make this the official unofficial LR thread
According to Alex007 words on the official stream Bomber is given a free win in semifinals, but there's still a chance that HyuN will be able to participate in the 3rd place match vs Scarlett.

Was there a reason the tournament couldn't be delayed for a while to wait for Hyun? Why was an online tournament bound to a strict schedule? Not having Bomber vs Hyun made me really sad.

The thing is not just a strict schedule (but actually yes, we can't delay the season for 1-2 weeks more). After IEM HyuN immediately goes to ROG, he has literally no time except just few date+time combinations, which are not that good for making the games happen. All other remaining players should also be able to play just these dates which is not really possible. You can ask why the hell we didn't play these games earlier, but it was also not possible due to schedule issues. We also worked together with HyuN and ESL (thanks them for help, btw!) to make the games from China possible, but it didn't worked well. Of course it's a shame to get the W/O here, but this is the best way to solve this situation. We will try not to make such a thing happen in the future seasons. See you in finals!

Hyun declined farther participation in RSL V.
Will this have any effect on future RSL's for HyuN?

It doesn't have to be tournament specific, but the level of disappointment in the fall(s) has to be equal to or greater than the amount of hype that was previously built. I personally don't think it's fully reset yet.

What about him getting 2-0d by Sora in WCG?
Oh yeah, that definitely helps. If only the qualifiers had had more exposure, the disappointment would have been greater. :/
