hmm starting with Life? This could be interesting.
Normally I'd say lol4-0 but Life is coming back from EU and he lost to Sjow and TLO recently so who knows. He's also less scary in GSTL, though still a beast.
4-1 Startale I guess. Life gets 2 kills, Bomber cleans up.
C'monnn Ryung, you can do it! Score me some sweet GSTL points and take down all those people with Life on their fantasy teams! :D
I was so close to doing so well, then Scarlett and Supernova had to screw it up by winning games on my anti-team T.T (what happened to fantasy rule #1, bet against the foreigners!?)
Cannot WAIT for this series. I think it's gonna be 4-2 one way or another, depending on which Life shows up. The Life we saw at Dreamhack won't cut it here.
Very excited for this, a win for AA would guarantee them 3rd (and with NSH as their last fixture 2nd would be a strong possibility). ST on the other hand are fighting for a playoff spot, opening with life? They're not fucking around. Can't wait!

The big question I think is which Life shows up tonight, the all-killing monster who can kill you with a single ling...or the indifferent one who loses to foreigners. If Life comes in and loses to Ryung or only kills Ryung before getting taken out, Startale are probably done.
The other ST player to watch is Avenge, I'd rate him their 2nd best right now. If Life can kill the first two he's definitely capable of finishing the job.
All in all, no telling the result tonight. AxA have clearly shown they are good enough to take out a Lifeless Startale, but Life is easily capable of all-killing if he feels like it.

Axiom-Acer has such a thin roster, but each of their players are dangerous in their own right. Ryung and MMA have been all killing in teamleagues recently (ATC, but against foreign teams granted), Scarlett looked solid in the RSL, Alicia did pretty well at the WCS Season finals, and Crank is always a dangerous sniper.
Really important match tonight to determine playoff seeding.

Remember that MMA killed Taeja twice, four players from MVP, including a loss then a win vs NAKSEO, and Sage twice, and finally YuGiOh, who can currently be called a Code S Zerg,+ Show Spoiler +
though he's in up/downs after finishing 3rd behind Flash and Soulkey.
.
However if he's sent our early and loses they'll probably be all-killed again (I say again including when it happened with SlayerS).
I just think it's funny that Startale fans feel entitled to the victory of that whole match when they had already lost to Prime scoring 0 kills from Marineking that season.

Unless we get a unified team league finally
i don't think SKT vs. KT is really that bad these days in sc2 haha
GSTL threads are pretty tame
SC2 fans seem to be a lot more amiable towards other team fans. Fanboyism and team rivalries can be fun
It is how it is in sc2 because team competition was never pushed to the forefront of the scene, it always took a backseat to individual tournaments. I wish gom would have pushed harder to make teamleague more important back then, can you believe the first few GSTL's were like 2 weeks long and done between gsl seasons? It was a joke.

Yeah I was never really invested into GSTL, especially since IM suck at it. I've seen more Proleague games this season than GSTL games ever.

Trade is open now, but there seems to be a few problems, points from last week aren't calculated and I've somehow ended up with a team with 9 players on it too.
Life dissappointed not to long ago.(his games aren´t that good for a time now, culminating in the defeat. this is sth. I´m sure that a defeat like this bothers a korean for a long time) + he had to travel and may still be a bit jetlagged. i know its a week, but still.... imho Life will try what they called "skillcheck" at dreamhack und then we see. overall, Axiom has a good shot on taking this. there is Life (who may not get a single map) and Avenge...and then ?

Btw how would a tie be resolved? Because even if ST lost bost matches, they could be tied at worst, coming from a decent +5 wins.

After a mapscore tiebreaker I'm not sure. Probably head-to-head.

So, ST should have it in the bag, if they don´t fumble horribly and Azubu manages to get some crazy all-kills. Now I can relax and look forward to some bombing.

Ties are broken first by map-score, then warnings, then head-to-head. If there is a 3-way tie where three teams have the same map-score, warnings and make a triangle head-to-head then I don't know, probably tiebreaker matches.

GSTL has definetly been weird this season. I think for the teams, the format is better. But for the viewers, with WCS and Proleague (and foreign tournaments) also going on, it's certainly felt a little uninteresting at times.

This match should be good but a lot of GSTL lately has been teams killing NSH/Prime or weeks of nothing, it's hard to keep the hype up imo + pro league is here for people to follow as well.

Maybe most people, but GSTL is literally the only tournament this entire year I've seen every game of. It's exciting to me! D:
(Though part of that is the fact it's on Friday/Saturday)
I still haven't seen a single player who has a good response to hellbat timings. I haven't figured anything out either :/
He even droned very little and started making units quite early... Like, I could understand if this would work if you had been invested too much into econ but usually even when they are on even econ and with the defenders advantages the push still seems to work.

I think the consistency is the big difference. PL is broadcasted four days of the week, while GSTL is a rare sight and the lack of exposure kills the hype.

proleague imo
if you would send Protoss against Protoss all the time in GSTL it would also be a back and forth as well .
Wonder how good Bombers TvT has gotten, Ryungs style was severely weakened in HotS and last time I saw him it was still close to the same. But that was before Hellbats arrived in Korea.

Prior to the Blue Flame Hellion nerf, TvT was MUCH sillier. Trust me on that one.
Hey that MLG where the Slayers Terrans came in and hellion'd everything was awesome
Oh I was there live, I loved it and I loved watching MVP win anyway.
But TvT in the weeks that followed was a total mess. It revolved entirely around Blue Flame Hellion drops and games would routinely just revolve around which Terran could keep more of their SCVs at the beginning of the game alive.

kinda sounds like TvT now, haha
I seem to recall there being even less variation than now, but yeah - it was really silly.

When I remember that MLG, I remember BoxeR vs Rain and the Blue Flame Hellions.

It was worse. 2 Hellion shots could kill a line of SCVs and you can fit 4 of those babies in a Medivac and it was impossible to run workers away.
It also made expanding nearly impossible since Hellion runbys would decimate anything.

Nah, now the guy going mech just wins.
In this particular case, the guy who has an opponent who suicides all his units just wins

When does Bomber NOT suicide his units though?
Like honestly, he's like the Stalin of the Terran dominion as much an enemy of his own troops as he is to the enemy.
On June 21 2013 20:06 artrea wrote: Shouldn't the bio T have at least an extra base for this (play like this against mech) to work ?
Well Bomber had a chance to take a Gold base and then this suicide attack up the ramp would have not cost him the game maybe. But the Bio player usually should make a sky transition to keep his advantage and then go mech, since mech is the only thing that works lategame in HotS due to the new Thor. So Bomber like decisions at the end there.
Bio is so bad ATM in TvT. Why can't they just make hell bats firebats again... Synergy is too good and production is too easy. To be honest... I just want WoL TvT and HotS everything else
<3 Ryung. Yeah he HPM'd that game, but we're well aware he's legit TvT regardless. Aggressive openings get rather addictive in TvT. It's very nice not to be wondering what your opponent is doing.
Wtf how can AxA even be this good, it's their first season together and they have the smallest team in GSTL! They're beating GSTL champs and GSL champs like a seasoned team that's been winning together for years. It makes completely no sense.

Team chemistry and heart (no pun intended). Not to mention a lot of people underestimated the strength of their roster. Ryung is a monster, Alicia is very good, Crank has been an amazing sniper, MMA has been looking really good in Team leagues, and Scarlett is really solid and capable of competing at this level

Yeah, they have that pre-drama-SlayerS-vibe going. Strong team spirit, players with freedom and determination, and they are also kinda good.

And yet they manage to post hilarious stuff that makes it look like they're not serious (like Ryung's TB drawing on paint).
By the way, just before the matched started, MMA came to Ryung in front of the box and was talking to him like "these are my last advices for the match". I think they cooked together that specific strat.

It's surprising but not crazy enough not to make any sense.
bo7 deprives a lot of deeper teams their full strength and all-kill format has always allowed teams with a few exceptional players to pull through.
MVP back in the day was almost single-handidly carried by DRG for instance.
Team Liquid made it to the finals against IM and even won 1/2 of the series against them because of Taeja in the IPLTL.
I'd really like if GSTL tried to alternate weekly in format like SPL does between rounds.

^the bolded. PLEASE GSTL NEEDS THIS. like samsung khan was like 1-8 in the beginning of the season. now look at them. they are fighting for playoff spots. Like seriously this needs to happen.

that wasn't because of change in format though, they just got better

o i misread. i thought it said something about having the teams play a shit ton so tthey get a ton of chances to prove themselves and stuff lol
the amount of all-kills in this season of GSTL is ridiculous. I think there has actually been more all-kills than not. seems like it anyway. Pretty lame at this point ;/

Yeah, I'm not really a fan of the all-kill format. I much prefer PL style when it comes to team games. With PL style you can't rely on an all-star player to rack you the wins. You have to time to plan for opponent and map.
With GSTL we only see the same 8 or so players, maybe they will change it for next season and make it about the teams.

If it wasn't for NSHoseo getting all-killed in 5/5 matches the GSTL would have a fairly comparable all-kill rate to Proleague. Unfortunately with the way HoSeo has been handing out all-kills like candy they don't feel special anymore >_> At least not this season that's for sure.

NSHOSEO just lost it the moment Sage left...
Somehow they lost their spark
But that doesn't matter, the only problem with today's win was that Scarlette didn't get to play
AA has been my favorite surprise success story for quite a while. I thought they'd be good, but I didn't expect them to be this good. I'm holding on to my shorts for the finals!
If I had to pick one thing to attribute AA's extreme success to, it would be that their living situation and general happiness is likely the highest or second highest in the entire tournament. Peace of mind is just as important as skill in a lot of cases(of course Ryung is really fucking good either way), it allows them to focus fully on their matches. The exact opposite would be Symbol's bad performance in the WCS season finals right after the Azubu news broke.
Also I don't think " It's their first time in the league " is as big of a factor as it was for TL and Fnatic, a lot of these guys are GSTL veterans.
