Dimaga and Dayshi will advance when they play like they did so far. I´m so hoping for Dayshi being solid in his performance so we have yet another great EU terran.
EDIT: I still check every time who duckdeok is. Finale kind of sticked better.

How is "Finale" more memorable than duckdeock lol
The same way Stardust is more memorable to me than M18M and Wookie more so than P7GAB.

I hate Wooki's name changes but I like calling him Zest because it's such a corny name. And Carno for Stats is even worse.

Was wondering why everyone was mentioning Scarlett, then I looked at the OP. XD Glad you're going to be hanging with us today Scarlett. Dima gets out I think, but I am not looking forward to a hasu game on Whirlwind.

There is a Korean player named Venus. Not sure what his team is now but he used to be MVP as far as I can remember. He's playing in WCS NA Qualifiers though, not EU

Wtf is it with Tails and Duckduck, both players just using terrible allins. They fought so hard and so long to get here, had time to prepare their matches and builds, and they just pull this tired crap?
I played on both KR and EU last year, the delay was brutal. Imo it makes playing T impossible, idk about P. Z was quite okay (least micro required). It sucks to be forced to allin i guess.

No sympathy for them whatsoever, they aren't European and they shouldn't have any right to compete in WCS EU.

Really tiny sentry immortal force with mamacore.
Dimaga mass lings and queens as usual. Late forcefields, queens snipe mamacore, gg.

I wasn't paying that close attention, but DIMAGA went speedlings both games. Quick upgrades first game, not sure about second. First game duckdeok went 4 gate on two base. Second game he had a robo and all-in'd on two base.

why?
with a cash prize similar for every region, it just seem natural to have the region balance themselves

Yeah, otherwise my guess is that the winners from the Korean (arguably the country with the best players) regionals would just storm the Grand Finals.

In 2012 didn't FlaSh just screw with his opponent by doing some TvZ mech drop build against a German P?
Interesting that Kaelaris brings up WC3 players since I remember ToD stating that SC2 was much much harder in terms of sticking to strategies since opponents will study and hard counter you while in WC3 you could do the same style of play for years

I like to think their mechanical arms doing move that far vertically, like that guy from the campaign with the fumanchu is really bad at his job.
This is the most sensible explanation, probably
I would think that their weapon isn't powerful enough to get the range when shooting upwards.
But marauders have longer range than marines and reapers have as much range. At least horizontally.
Reapers use pistols so I don't think it has enough power to take down anything. Marauders have a grenade thing that might not be able to make it that high up.

Gravity has the same effect regardless of size and weight. The biggest factor will probably be air resistance. It's too late in the evening for me to do the math, but I think the marauder and reaper projectiles should probably reach as far as marine fire if you take their horizontal range as they maximum distance

Yeah, too lazy to do the physics right now, but I think that result is correct.
This is quite funny to me actually. According to this, you can actually make it out that duckdeok has a higher chance of getting into Top 2. This is because he has a higher chance of getting into Top 3 (51.84% vs 48.75%), and since ending Top 3 requires him to defeat Dayshi he can therefore be seen as having a higher chance than Dayshi to finish Top 2.

Definitely not- Marines are using an 8mm rifle, which is going to have a MUCH higher muzzle velocity than either a pistol or a grenade. Of course, this assumes that Marauder ammunition is NOT self-propelled. Since both pistols and grenade launchers are ineffective against aircraft because of velocity drop-off and range, it actually makes sense that only the rifle would be able to shoot up. We can use some simple sci-fi tech to explain the Marauder's shells having longer lateral range than the Marine rifle bullet- the larger shell of the Marauder grenade allows it to house a repulsor, preventing horizontal dropoff and countering gravity. The 8mm spike is a simple slug and does not house fancy tech, and is thus affected by dropoff.

Statistics are funny.
I don't think that's what it's saying. I agree with your point about 4th, it's more so saying that if Dayshi beats duckdeok (which he's the underdog), he has a better chance of winning the second set.

Marines don't have to watch friendly fire or aim well when fighting giant battle ships or fast flyers so they can turn their guns to stim mode for the anti air fight. That the attack speed isn't increased is due to the Marines being unable to handle their weapon and missing half of their shots.
Marauder shells are optimized for Ground combat no reason to waste money trying to hit air units, those things are expensive and the targeting comp just works for ground. And Reapers are maniacs what can you do they decided to not shoot air units.
Vs Hasuobs I think you need to mass up all static defence that is available. Turrets everywhere, Ridiculous amounts of PFs and disgustingly many sensor towers. You will also need a massive orbital farm (25-20) and max 20 scvs, then go into 60 Ghost - 35 Vikings with marauder-hellbat support. Then start taking fights, work on the cannon farms with nukes and slowly leapfrog forward with Pfs, Turrets and Sensor Towers. And no I am not trolling.

Yeah because 10 more stalkers would have won him that game.......
Few more sentrys would have actually. o_o
Having a few more forcefields wont matter when toss is on 120 supply vs 200/200 viper hydra roach
He lost all his expensive units because he lacked forcefields/they weren't good enough. Keep in mind that DIMAGA was only producing lings and roaches at the end, which is really bad against colossi/voydrai.

They do but 99% of all bottled water is still. You can buy bubbly water in grocery stores, but its usually on some very top or bottom shelf and not in immediate eye line.

That being said, "German Efficiency" is waaay overrated. It took a week and a half to get my debit card for my bank account and 2 pieces of mail...1 had my pin number...another had the card. Meanwhile at TD i go "hey i lost my card." "ok heres a new one".
Government stuff also extremely slow compared to Canada. Thats the only real negatives ive noticed about germany though, being able to drink in the street more than makes up for it.

Haha I know what you mean by this. I work for an engineering corporation that has a German division, and you should hear them make fun of "German engineering." They say it's high quality work, but German engineers are very stubborn and refuse to admit errors on their end.

Shows 28k on the main stream for me. + 3k Russian stream, 2k German, 2k French
35k is pretty decent for groupplay and better than WCS Korea usually.

I actually like the system. Sending a card with a PIN attached isn't safe.
In Canada you are physically given your card in person at the bank, then you put it into a special debit machine and set your own pin number.
Statistics are funny.
I don't think that's what it's saying. I agree with your point about 4th, it's more so saying that if Dayshi beats duckdeok (which he's the underdog), he has a better chance of winning the second set.

Hasuobs shoud really have done a counter attack after the first fight. Even faking the fight would have forced DIMAGA to rebuild a useless army in late game. :/
I don't think HasuObs was looking too good vs DIMAGA. DIMA could have easily played solid and demolished Hasu, but DIMA instead played like crap and through an easy series.

problem is that they aren't as good in Bo3 series. bo1 favors crazy builds a bit more.
I think these players who play with lag would be better off playing long macro games (if they are able to do it) instead of cheeses and all ins Micro won't help them here
I'd expect this endless procession of cheese and random builds from tails, but duckdeok is supposed to be way more solid than needing these kind of builds.
seriously, Daiyshi is just plain stupid not to build a bunker initially. Its like the Idra mindset: stick to what you think is good no matter what. Man this duck plays cheesier than the whole NA ladder together but still no bunker?!

Bunker in game 2 would've won Dayshi the series, there was really no reason not to have one especially after killing the first zealot. I think Dimaga will win out though.
Imagine a sunny day at the lake. You are bathing in the sun and enjoying a nice beer when a duck walks up to you and poops on your towel. Thats how that series was.
It's like the Terran was on autopilot. It's like he memorized a few build orders and used them randomly during his games. No strategical thinking whatsoever.

There is also the factor that Dayshi has one of the better macro in Europe. Arrogance of the player who believes himself to be the best.

But it's not even a creative cheese, it's just a plain old coinflip. Basically duckdeok didn't even care, he just throw his coin and let fate decides.
If he scouts, I'm dead. If he is lucky, I'm dead. Else I win.
while this might be the most efficient way to them to deal with the lag from korea, it's a completely frustrating experience to watch this guy cheese like 10 games in a row. I can't stand it. I so hope that he will go out and decides not to try for EU again.

It's true though, you'd want +2 attack for 3 shotting lings and I believe 9 shotting roaches. Or some people have tried shield upgrades because with perfect micro, you'd want stalkers to regenerate shields which means more of their longtime health will be in shields. Armor makes no sense at all.
Also the HongUn build is macro nexus triple forge... or 2 base carrier PvT.

Still waiting for a write-up of all-ins with your fancy names.

The Hongun is a way of life, not just a build. Not only do you do mass blink stalkers, but when ahead you make carriers and die to zerg or just make pure zealot colossi and pray Terran doesn't make vikings.

You can't get anywhere close to roach/hydra/viper before that timing kills you. It will kill you extremely hard actually if you tech that hard. Just go pure roach with a good concave and good control, that should do it especially considering how early Dimaga knew about it

You are being silly. All duckdeok has done so far is allining, yet nobody prepares for it. I'd say that is their own fault, DIMAGA played terrible this series, it's sad but true.

daishy played worse, he could have won with just 2 bunkers every game
You can't go into a macro game with that delay (Korea -> Eu). So don't blame him for using allins. i can guarantee you, that he will play much better in germany.

Yep agree, both players didn't really look like their usual awesome self tbqh.

anyways. i'm happy to see him advance
Not sure if he should play a macro game to be honest.
Does zergs still lose to the old immortal sentry push? Damn it, they made the hydralisks more viable and ovie speed earlier so you can beat it and you have this swarm hosts thing that on ladder, for some reason is destroying protoss players, but in tournament it is being used rarely. Dimaga, keep making roaches to kill immortals but try to make it look less one sided by attacking from 2 fronts and not running into from the smallest choke point available, if in diamond league zergs figured it, as a GM+ player you should know that. Damn it, pros makes me go on rants, gratz to duckdeok advancing.
Edit: just wanted to add some more, Dimaga need to learn from past mistakes, just like he managed to somehow lose a 150 supply army that is the perfect composition to defeat MVP in the WCS eu final matches and chose the choke that cant fit 3 zealots side by side and even block his army with his queens, he managed this time to split his army in 2 and make sure every group is in a different 4 FFs choke. All he needed to do is bait the protoss to go to that juicy 3rd and destroy him by taking half of the army around and flank, sorround and finish. I guess waiting is not the right thing to do when it comes to the fact that if your enemy waits longer he gets some more advantage (energy, also its not a whine, I play toss, keep waiting as i get more energy for storm plz!), I guess we will not have a finalist for EU unless he will tell himself to go when he needs to, not when he feels safest to do so.
Time to see if a eSF team has the money for a round trip flight to Germany. Didn't MVP win a big LoL tournament recently? So they probably got some money.

You'll be in masters in no time don't worry. Just don't make more than 42 probes.

That is what i thought too. The MVP players are probably only cheesing because they know even if they make it out of the groups, they couldn't travel to Germany. They don't want to invest time and preparation. And their games show it. But who knows...
Their LoL squad is doing amazing atm, I don't think MVP is short of money.

They are one of the strongest eSF teams. MVP is not Prime or Hoseo.
No duckdeok interview ? Nah, just kidding, ducks don't speak english.

If your 8 gate 10 cybercore build fails, you just do it again the next game!
I don't think.... I don't think Full Foreigner is enough here. Duckduck was a failed 4-gate away from going out 0-2, 0-2, and somehow managed to make it on.

At least wait to see what he has to offer in good playing conditions. Beating Dimaga and Dayshi while lagging is a good accomplishment for non-mvp level koreans, no matter how he did it.
Was kind of disgusted at some of the blatant player bashing comments tbh.
Quack quack quack!! Europe cannot hold! Brings a smile to my face when koreans advance in wcs eu since european fans are always so smug about holding in their tournaments and shitting on NA when they fail to recognize a fraction of KRs even play in euro tourneys in the first place compared to NA tourneys. Hopefully, MVP wins eu again this time!
On a side note, I do like dimaga though so wish it came at the expense of a different player, so I feel bad for dimaga!

Code S Toss or not, if Dayshis Battlecry wasnt "Bunkers are for Sissies", he would be in challenger league now. It's funny how much of a difference these small things can make.

The thing is that in their level on play they should already know not to do those "Little things". Duck is good, dont question that, but if players do really dumb decitions it is their problem alone (guess what happened? They are in challanger, not anybody else).

It's all about cutting corners. Innovation cheesed the first game of WCS KR and got a massive lead but forgot to make tanks 3 games in a row. And you cannot accuse Innovation of being dumb or making dumb decisions. We are the Deus Ex-Machina, we see everything. In their mind, they cannot fathom the likeliness of statistically events happening so many times in a row. This is just human.

Scarlett spitting mad truth!
no one disagrees that there are enough good koreans to crowd out everyone, i dont think anyone has ever said otherwise. doesnt hide the fact that the NA scene actively hates on people who want to improve.

If WCS EU required as much offline presence as WCS KR, there wouldn't be any Koreans in premier league at all.

several live in houses there. MVP plays from germany. Could probably find a way to play.
edit: come to think of it, this could hurt EU involvement too--EU is way bigger than KR

Finale did the Magic Johnson and it was super effective. Dimaga got 11 mutas out but he didn't have the gas to build anything else but ling/muta and very few broaches. Finale caught wind of it by seeing the ground army and warped in mostly stalkers to reinforce. Lings melted to colossi, stalkers + guardian shield killed the mutas even before the colossi died and great forcefields blocked everything else out. Dimaga just GG'd after losing the mutas

wrong. MVP considered to come to europe for round of 32 already because he struggled a little bit in season 1 and almost got eliminated.
Ah, I love it that the poll questions were finally asked clearly in this thread and not the stupid mysterious "Head? Heart?" like usually. I always assumed that they meant this anyway but I was never totally sure and I think it was just unnecessary to use these short versions. Good job Scarlett.
