For this IEM stop we will be sending a total of Three players and One United States Champion to New York City to represent the Americas region. There will be two separate tournaments to determine the 4 total players. Open qualifiers with a stage 1 and a stage 2 and also a United States only cup. Below is the full information!
United States Champion Cup - Completed CMStorm.Polt is the United States Champion!
Best of 1 in all rounds until the Round of 32 players is reached. At round of 32 and higher is a Best of 3.
In a Best of 1, Best of 3 and Best of 5 a map veto (removal and pick) system is used. The high seeded player(seeds can be found at round 1 on the grid page) decides who starts. Players take it in turn removing maps until only one remains in a best of 1 or until only 3 maps remain in a best of 3. Then each player picks a map. Maps are played in order they are picked. The remaining map is played last.
Open Qualifier Cups Restrictions
You must be a citizen or be residing in any country apart of North, South, or Central America
Top 3 players of Stage 2 Advance to the NYC LAN Event
You must be at least 16 years of age by October 10th 2013 ( the date of the LAN event)
Hotel and flight cost are paid for in full by ESL.
Best of 1 in all rounds until the Round of 64 players is reached. At round of 64 and higher is a Best of 3. Once Round of 4 (top 2 winners and top 2 losers) is reached the matches end, and the 4 players then move to Stage 2.

Whattttttttt
Edit: O nvm that's like an extra thing right
Yea there are two different qualifiers. One to determine a United Stages Champion (since this event is in NYC) and the other standard cup that follows the same rules as all the other previous qualifiers we have run.
Best of 1 in all rounds until the Round of 64 players is reached. At round of 64 and higher is a Best of 3. Once Round of 8 is reached the matches end, and the 8 players then move to Stage 2.
stage 1 for American Qualifier, it says it's a 64 players bracket but bo1 until RO64.. so all matches are bo3 since it starts at RO64?
also :
Once Round of 8 is reached the matches end, and the 8 players then move to Stage 2.
in the graphic, it says only 4 players qualify to stage 2

The bracket is 64 man bracket as default but it is allowed to grow. In the event that we get more than 64 players sign up all rounds bigger than 64 will be best of 1s.
And yes only 4 players can qualify into it. The remaining 12 will be invites to fill a 16 man bracket. It said 8 from a previous paste. But I have fixed it. Thanks!

You probably didn't add the newly formatted one. Go here http://www.nationalesl.com/us/sc2/1on1/nyc1/add_gameaccount/ and select Starcraft 2 Americas Now to enter the correct information in the value box you'll need to go to http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/ and log in. Near top right hand corner you will see your Starcraft 2 portrait and user name. Click the down arrow next to your username and select "Profile" If you look at the url at the top of your browser now it should look something like: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/734635/1/pHaRSiDE/ You will want to copy and paste that into the value box on the gameaccount page on esl and then add the starcraft 2 character code after it. For example my account is pharside#358 so the data entered into the box would look like this: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/734635/1/pHaRSiDE/#358 click send and then you are done!

"waiting for an admin to add you" for the first 1 "Registration not possible as you do not meet all the league requirements." for the 2nd
Yes, there's definitely something wrong with the gameaccounts requirement for the 2nd one vs the US-only one. When I go to the US only one I get a "NO" next to residence (as it should be, my residence is Canada) but a "YES" next to gameaccount. For the 2nd one, the only requirement it shows is gameaccount, but that shows as a "NO", which I presume is why it's giving the ""Registration not possible as you do not meet all the league requirements." error.

You guys were correct. I investigated and the gameaccount requirement for Stage 1 cup and the SC2 option was actually empty. I have fixed the error. Thanks for pointing it out. Sorry to everyone that has tried to sign up for it. It should work now
Is it gonna be a problem that I made a different account on nationalesl.com in this qualifier than the one I used on esl.eu for the WCS qualifier? When making the account, I read a rule that I can't have two ESL accounts, but neither can I put all of my battle.net accounts on one ESL account, so I had to make another account to choose the correct b.net account, and I'm not sure if the rule applies for different web sites (nationalesl.com and esl.eu) and if it applies for different competitions (WCS and IEM)?
In any case, I signed up. I can't possibly imagine how owning the other account could be relevant but I just wanted to make sure.
If these guys are invited... will they even need to compete in the USA championship?
Only the Americans out of that bunch can play the championship cup (and polt). Only the winner of that cup will not be allowed to play stage 2 qualifiers. The rest can.
I have a question about attending IEM NY if anyone knows. IEM NY is being hosted at NYC Comic Con I believe, to attend the IEM NY event, do fans just have to buy a ticket to Comic Con? Or is there something else they need to buy? I am considering going but am not 100% sure what I need to purchase or do.

All you need is a Comic Con pass. From there you can watch the event or do w/e you feel like doing at comic con.

We have a policy of not allowing multiple accounts. Which ever is your main account you will need to choose that and have the other deleted.

He can't delete the account because he is still listed in a league, and the website won't let him leave the league. There is like literally nothing he can do.

Today is the US-only qualifier. If HuK/Polt fail here, they can still play in the NA qualifier, where they would be seeded in stage two.

Bollocks, oh well
Apparently Suppy and Xenocider lost too poor baby NA players. But I guess that means some pretty sick amateurs in this tournament (or pretty sick cheesers, but either way )
Edit: Oh, double elimination, Suppy and Xeno still in it. Phew!
I think the US Championship is only for US citizens, so Demuslim cannot play in it.
Just turned on the MLG stream, this is pretty funny watching Axslav cast himself in the tourny.
ETA: "You must be a United States citizen or be residing in the United States as full resident on a visa to play in this cup" Ok I guess maybe Demuslim could be a full resident? I have no idea.

Lol Axslav is drinking and honestly he's not mechanically as fast as most pros, so I doubt Axeltoss will really help enough to overcome that. But I think really if anything he's distracting Axslav by talking and telling him to do random builds from the chat and stuff.

Oh, he's the same Apocalypse that got into WCS America Sorry, I had assumed it was someone else, because I'd always thought Apocalypse was a Korean playing from Korea (I didn't know he was residing in NA now)
EDIT: Actually, are you sure he's NA-based? Or is he still in KR but just playing for Quantic? Anyways, Suppy's match vs him was a ladder match, not an IEM NY qualifier match.

ehm okay i guess you have a different opinion? explain this please: this cheese guy is waiting with his infestors for 2 fungals each, then makes his big move. casters open up the worker count after he killed like 30 worker (28 i think?). and its 39 vs 37 worker or something like that. whats the point in killing 30 workers when you are even after killing them?
next thing i see is that catz is like 40 supply ahead. he attacks and runs into a defensive position in absolute horrible fashion. one roach after another. he loses 30 supply, its 160vs150 when he realises that fighting with 1 roach against 20 isn't the best idea and he tries to retreat. i just can not understand and it does not look like good gameplay.
maybe someone can explain to me how/what/etc this is above diamond level gameplay.

I think you were confused as to who is who. Catz was the one with the infestors. Easy to get confused when the overlay has the wrong supply next to each name (crap overlay).

Haha Illusion taking out his new boss in dramatic fashion, time for the epic TvT grand final. These poor guys, it's like 2AM over there. But I really think this is the Ax bros at their best, they're a lot better when they're not forced to act all proper and stuff.
Can Illusion take out Polt though, that's the question. He's the definite underdog but I think he has some sick plays in him and he could definitely give Polt a good fight at the least.
Also, wonder if Guitarcheese will get picked up by a team, that guy was actually pretty good, cleaned up a lot of EG players.

And now it's time to switch to the KR/TW qualifier! Sleep is for normal people!
Since CMStorm.Polt qualified for the event through the United States Champion Cup ROOT.State will replace him in the Stage 2 qualifier event. Also announcing final invite: ROOT.Minigun - Invited See you guys tomorrow for Stage 1 and congrats to Polt!

Whattttttttt
Edit: O nvm that's like an extra thing right
Yea there are two different qualifiers. One to determine a United Stages Champion (since this event is in NYC) and the other standard cup that follows the same rules as all the other previous qualifiers we have run.

Avilo is playing this really badly. He's way too passive and going to lose this. Catz is pulling ahead. Heck, he can remax on cracklings now and a move lol

Is it my plat league ignorance or is it not a good idea to have the extra SCVS (which are being replaced by mules) around the tank & ravens to repair them? is that a good idea?

Look at the bank, and catz doesn't have melee upgrades. Avilo can get hellbats out very quickly if he wants. He needs to make sure not being caught by fungals.

I think you are wrong
the reason catz looks like he's losing now is because he's clumping his infestors. If you noticed the supply and resources earlier on(like 10 min ago), catz was maxed and up in resources at one point but then he started losing and making mistakes like now.

What am I watching?! World War 1?! Great game 1! But Avilo had to take a big lead to get in that position. He killed a ton of Drones with Banshees and Hellions. I don't think he can get back there again.
So what is the way to counter that composition from avilo when you don't have melee upgrades handy? Seems to me that you need melee units. I would have gotten carapace upgrades and melee upgrades if I could and produced ultra-ling to supplement once I was 1-3 (or maybe even at 1-2), but catz is much better than me at sc2 so maybe that is stupid.

I'm in the same boat. ... To tell you the truth, I still don't know everything PDD blocks.

it used to block Broodlords at one point but then it was patched out. I think had they left that in and tweaked it during WoL's end, then TvZ at the end of WoL would've been that much better, not that I'm complaining lol. PDD is pretty useful though
It must suck to be stuck as a low level NA pro. I mean they spend all of this time playing and yet they will likely never see a tournament result. Massan, for example, has been around for a long time but he can never get good enough to place in anything important. It must especially suck when u lose to other low level NA pros because it just shows how little progress you've made over the years.
Tune in tomorrow at 4:00 pm EST to see them compete with the 12 invites to determine which 3 will be representing the Americas at the IEM New York tournament!
Kinda pathetic that two ROOT players don't even show up. Isn't Puck living in the ROOT house? Someone there should've told him to get sleep in time for this if he was "tired" or just made him play it out.

Is it a bad joke to say that puCK often changes his mind ? :/
I could careless bout him changing his mind often but there is nothing that annoys me more than when someone accepts an invitation to a tournament and comes up with a lame a** excuse as being "tired". Really? Aren't you supposed to be a "pro gamer"? Last time I checked Korean players to play in NA online tournaments stay up sometimes til 5-8AM to play a game when being actually tired.

for those who weren't watching, demuslim did a reaper opening into reaper/hellion, did no damage with the reapers then got all his reapers/hellions surrounded, hendralisk counterattacked with roach bane
apparently demuslim found it cheesy for hendralisk to attack up 90 supply to 50, so he said "this is really how you want to qualify?"
To be fair to Huk, he's been doing super well lately, probably second only to Scarlett in NA players. He won the MLG Summer Invite, won Lanhammer, 2nd at red bull battlegrounds, placed 3rd at that riduculous Hong Kong tournament... apart from WCS (though he's back in Premier this season) he's been doing pretty well for himself lately.
I just came in, did I understand the happenings correctly? puck is to tired to play and fofited the WB (against a teammate) and VIBE did´nt show up at all only 1 day after Root already arrived 1 hour late to a clanwar?
Well its better than stephano and even with qxc if we wanna make a metric the winrate vs koreans. The best we got (i could find) is like scarlett and naniwa with 50%
That was... stomp. Starting from 2 hatch muta rushed out against hellion banshee ending with BC all-in being delayed enough for all the stuff to appear.
Wow jig played nicely. Major should've not taken him for granted with that BC rush. I think that was a cocky play, imo. Didn't respect enough and lost the 'buffer' game.
Interestingly enough... I believe there is a delay on Twitch's stream, but there is no delay on the homegrown MLG mobile stream... Here I am, already 4 minutes into game 3 on Belshir.

Demuslim is just becoming the ladder warrior. It's a shame he can't put it together in tournaments since he really is a great player but his performance in this wasn't anything special.
So how does this IEM actually work? The liquipedia page is a little confusing. What is the stage 1 tournament at the main event, and where to the 16 players come from? It seems the 8 qualifiers from this weekend get sent to Stage 2 automatically?
It's cool how this tournament has been produced almost like a full tournament even though it's just a qualifier, some pretty cool games from people we don't always get to see.
