well without foreigners .. EG lineup looks so mediocre, they are good players and all.. but the hype for them is not that big... like Demuslim or Huk... expect Jaedong. Looks like a Liquid-Acer final to me.

What? To me they look heavily favoured against Axiom. Demuslim and HuK? aLive, Jaedong and Revival are all in WCS top 16 and Oz and JYP are both solid protoss players.
Liquid probably won`t stand a chance against Acer. InnoVation against two foreigner-zergs? Pretty much auto-wins. Don`t want to be offensive against Snute or Ret but Innovations TvZ is pretty much unbeatable for a foreigner.
Sure, Liquid is favored in Heros and Taejas (2nd game) games but will that be enough. Nerchio always has had TLOs number so this will be a pretty tough one.

Like I said Jaedong is playing really well lately. Revival win an IEM and yes.. Alive is a solid player.. who is always there but does not win (Expect IPL). But Jyp and Oz... don`t know what to say.. I never liked them.. they don`t seem any special.. I just hope for good games.

Why do you think MMA is favored vs Taeja? Taeja's been playing on a completely different level the past few months. And if Taeja wins vs MMA, HerO can easily defeat Bly and it's going to the ace match. I think both teams can win this.
It seems to me that EG and TL didnt made it to the offline finals because there r no EG players on the DH Bucharest player lis and TL without Hero and Teaja. Thats one downside of replaycasting.
These r just speculations by myself, but lets say that I would be quite surprised if my predictions r wrong.
Hopefully there is no place on the net where u can bet money on these playoff matches!

why? do u think that EG and TL told DH not to list their players? A DH Open has limited slots. Thats why i think it would be kinda stupid not to let them participate in the main tournament on this weekend just for the sake of surprising the crowd?

Except they didnt release the full players list, the current players list includes 78 people, 18 more to go.
Also I think I found whats wrong with the schedule, it should be:
Tuesday:
M4: Winner M1 vs. Winner M2 (WB Finals) - Wednesday, Sep 11 12:00am CEST (GMT+02:00) + Show Spoiler [Results] +
M5: Loser M4 vs. Winner M3 (LB Finals) - Thursday, Sep 11 02:00am CEST (GMT+02:00) + Show Spoiler [Results] +

DH stated after releasing the player list that SC2L is going to add 10 additional players to the line up. Would make sense if they don't include them yet.
This league should get more attention. A great and consistent league with skilled players and a GREAT commentator. I sincerely hope that these kind of tournaments gain traction a great viewer numbers.

But it is not played live and has a production value from some no name caster broadcaster from his cellar. But you are right, in terms of players and casters, it does not get better than this.
Anyways, rooting for Acer. I really hope that they manage to make it to Bucharest!

I agree. I love the format too. I love the all-kill format too, especially in the GSTL, but this type of format compliments the other team leagues nicely.

Yeah, I don't think he could have attacked since a lot of the supply advantage was marines still running across the map. MMA's mistake was unsieging a big part of his army at once and got caught by taeja's marines

You can't engage light-heartedly in a Tank line parked in a choke.
I did not mean engaging in tank line, it is suicide. I meant something like pick him apart, or force TaeJa in engagement like right before that. And obviously, that unsiege lost MMA the game clearly :D

Nah, I'm not sad. I'm just tired of your tirades after games sometimes. I do think it is useful when you write something that's well thought out and I appreciate that as a pro who's going back and analyzing a win or loss, however, sometimes I think you get your emotions mixed up (which is understandable) and say something that's borderline BM.
SC2L supports five players to go, they don't support six. If we make the finals, we will be sending all six. Three of our players (Ret, TLO, Snute) are already signed up to go, although the support from SC2L will be quite helpful.

I spent five minutes trying to see how you got that impression before I found my mistake.
Nah, I had originally written something about every team and then I revised it to just us and didn't change the tense. I don't actually 100% know how the support works, but given what iNc just said and what I remember from the ATC support debacle (I asked about what the SC2L rules were at the time), this is how it works. I was trying to make the point that SC2L's support will be helpful to every team that makes it.

Innovation has beaten Soulkey a lot of times in the past, although they may have an even record together, but Innovation imo is still the more solid player.

Most players have a weakest matchup but with Dong it becomes TOO weak. Like top players would have maybe a 40% win rate in their weakest at the very worst.
Dong would never exhibit such weakness in BW, he was strong enough in every matchup to be capable of winning a final in it.

Try DRG's ZvZ now.... Or Soulkey's vT (that is his statistically weakest match-up now lol due to hitting Inno all the time, if we do not count his derps at qualifiers).
BW was a game, where insane (that JD surely has) mechanics alone could carry you until the highest level. Combine it with some coach-assistance in preparation and Boom.

Soulkey's weakest matchup is Innovation, DRG hasn't been near a finals in a long time. It's remarkable to me that Dong was able to ride to 4 finals appearances in a very short succession of time, with one or two matchups being so much stronger than the others.

DRG looks pretty strong in ZvP and ZvT, yet he looks lost in ZvZ imo(hell, he would go into Code B, if he got that 3 zerg group in Ro32 and some zerg in Ro48 of Code A). Soulkey's weakest matchup is lack of preparation (and since you cannot really prepare for really good terran and got to outplay him mechanically, he does not really command a high winrate in it, though he can easily stomp most of terrans there are). But yes, JD is like example from Metric system. EDIT: I wonder why Alicia opts for Blink all-ins so often lately :O

Just quickly want to say a massive kudos to Incontrol and EG for putting all that they have into the SC2L. Obviously it's not as big as a 'NA Proleague' YET, but to actually stick with this sort of thing, pour your casting and organizing into this week after week regardless of the views, is a great thing to see in the NA SC2 scene.
Please keep up your fantastic casting and dedication, Incontrol! Let's do like the NASL did and grow this thing into a respected and loved NA tournament.
What is this thing with a nice LR thread? No whining, no bashing or "SC2 is dying" yells? And Jazzman88 two posts above me said it all. This is good stuff by EG

Sadly. But it's still an extensive qualifying process, top 4 from this qualifier go into an Asia qualifier that only top 2 go to New York from.
I heard the replays are a week old. Wouldn't bother. In a week so much changes, meta-game, balance, patches, form of the players, etc. (-> Jaedongs disaster play today at IEM qualifier)
Seriously, almost every other event is live. Why not this one? Why are all Incontrol events always from old replays? What's so hard casting live?

It's not casting live it's getting the players to play live, replays allow the players to play at more optimal times as they have players playing around the world who are in different timezones.
Well played series by EG. Their more depth players like JYP need to pick up wins like this for them to win. Their sort of best trio of Dong, Alive and Revival/Oz (depending on how confident Oz is) can't do it all.

Second time I saw this push through the rocks on Akilon. Wonder why they do it as they optimize the Terrans Bunker position versus this sort of push. But I can see why it would work on ladder.
Liquid`HerO < Akilon Wastes > EGJaedong Liquid`TLO < Star Station > EGaLive Liquid`TaeJa < Red City > EGOz Liquid`TaeJa < Neo Planet S > EGJaedong Liquid`Zenio < Newkirk Precinct > EGJYP Liquid`Snute < Whirlwind > EGRevivaL Ace-Match: HerO vs aLive
I will have to admit that these are really tough calls. HerO is just a bit favored against JD these days and games like Taeja vs Oz or Snute vs Revival can go either way. Really looking forward to those games. And: GO TLO TLO TLO!
Would love to see TLO beat aLive today but i think that it will come down to if Dario can tech up to his usual Ling/bane/muta composition without getting behind early. If he manages to do that he will have a legit chance.
Really hard to call TL vs EG. No match-up has a clear favorite exept Zenio vs JYP. TLO and Snute are certainly able to take their games and the HerO and TaeJa games look extremly close as well. If it comes to the ace match, I have absolutly no clue who even gets send out.

Expect HerO from TL or Snute if they try to counter an Oz PvP snipe... although HerO is definitely the safer choice. He's been pretty clutch recently.
Did TLO forget that sieged tanks can't move and he could have just walked over to the third and forced a lift without losing 30 roaches to 3 tanks on the high ground?

Did TaeJa forget how to split? What on earth was that game? It looked like it was played at 5AM in the morning or something I haven't seen either player play that badly in awhile. I don't think I saw a single split from TaeJa the entire game and he's usually a marine micro god.

Proleague ended and he lost in the WCS Challenger League qualifier final match to Xenocider. That would probably make anyone take a break from playing. ;o
Other than that, fun fact - Revival was undefeated in SC2L before that crazy ass 8base vs. 2base game vs. Alicia the other day.

Not at all, the Protoss that played better than the Zerg for the majority of the game actually won.

I mean who was at 8 base (and under 8 base i mean 8 bases with extractors that were mined :3).

Who do you think was on 8 base? A Protoss or a Zerg? I think it's pretty obvious...
As for a short description, Alicia had a lot of Blink Stalkers and some Immortals/Sentries/a couple Colossi. Revival went for Roach/Hydra and tech switched to Mutas after he lost his army (and denied Alicia from taking a third the entire game). The game turned into a large base race where Alicia defended while destroying 8 bases with Cannons and Photon Overcharge.
I probably messed up the description because I was half asleep watching it. You'll have to see the game yourself.
If you could see a resources lost tab at the end of the game though Alicia would probably have lost less than a fifth the resources Revival lost, though. Sick micro.
The problem is that TL has two top notch players in HerO and Taeja. EG just has JD. Maybe Oz and aLive are anywhere near that level, but i have to admit that Hero should be better....

Hmm I guess EG decided to throw in a token foreigner against Acer. I like how TL uses a mix of koreans and foreigners in their team league matches. EG seems to put a heavy emphasis on only having koreans participate.

TL only has six members. 50% of their team is foreign. Considering you choose six players, and can only field one player twice, TL mathematically HAS to field foreigners every game.
EG used an all Korean line up only once during the whole regular season. But even then, what's wrong with fielding your best players? Especially in the playoffs

I just like teams when they mix it up. Compared to other teams, it just seems EG puts a heavier emphasis using koreans compared to foreigners. Teams like Acer, root, Millenium, complexity, myinsanity, TL, etc seemed to have a good balance of using koreans and foreigners together in team leagues.

Yeah but he pretty much doesn't play in team leagues. I agree Huk would likely be a better choice, or maybe Suppy, but Demuslim is not that bad either. Sometimes he performs way above expectation, other times below, and it is not like they had much choice.

I agree with Nathanias, a chicken sandwich should be bread, chicken breast, lettuce and if you want to go fancy some slices of tomato and a tiny layer of creme fraiche dressing.

I don't understand why he was even on that side of the map. He had a lead, he had more than enough to crush Innovation if he tried to move across the map. He just had to gather the tech required to stomp through, not attacking with Ling/Bling/Roach/Infestor. Bleh.

aLive's 3rd CC died to roaches. Which theoretically should never happen due to lifting. Due to that, aLive was stuck on 2 CCs and would have needed drops or an all in to equalize. But Nerchio's bust hit just when 3 dropships were on the otherside of the map.

Nerchio did a big Roach attack that somehow killed aLive's third CC (all he had to do was lift the CC), whilst aLive chose not to make SCVs and so didn't have the economy required to produce the army required to kill Nerchio's Roach/Bling/Ling follow-up.

Not necessarily. Oz can beat MMA, and Revival is favored over Paranoid. Demuslim could also be considered to be favored over Bly. Then the ace match is either MMA or Nerchio, both of which are doable for someone like Revival, Oz or aLive.

I eat my words.
I was actually saying that not because I didn't believe Oz couldn't beat MMA, but because InControl was doing a sad "we had a good run" monologue before the match, haha.
Oz winning as expected! EG have a solid chance to to win the next two. Revival should take out Paranoid if he plays like he did against Snute and Demuslim has at least a decent shot versus Bly. Nerchio seems like a likely ace (Acer used him against EG in the regular season) so I'd like to see Oz again. He looks like the most solid non-Jaedong player on the lineup right now and he won the ace match in the regular season.

Not really but he's pretty clutch when he needs to be. It's always been pretty volatile with peaks like smashing Stephano in the height of his ZvP and taking out lots of top names in HotS, but with massive lows like getting 4-0'd by Revival at IEM Shanghai and losing games to random people.

Or he got tired of winning for EG in the SC2L... Going 6-1 in the regular season (6-0 before the final match of the regular season) he probably got bored of winning every game.
I think it could go in Acer's favor if Innovation draws HerO since he should beat him and TL usually relies a lot on wins from TaeJa and HerO. Kind of like when Inno got Soulkey in the proleague finals taking away a big win opportunity from Woongjin. If TL can find out what maps Inno is paying on and either take him down with TaeJa or have Acer "waste" him on lesser players that would have lost to other Acer players and have HerO take out someone like MMA instead, then I think it puts TL in a good spot. Should be a good final though
honestly think Liquid will take it.. if it goes to an ace, taeja will destroy anyone on acer! acer's only hope would be to play inno twice and hope he doesn't draw taeja, pick up the free wins and then manage to pull out 2 more from somewhere before the ace
I mean Liquid already beat acer 4-2 in playoffs and since they came to the finals in the winners bracket and they get to see Acers lineup before picking their own so they should be able to take it.

In fact that seems like almost too much of an advantage...

In fact that seems like almost too much of an advantage...
Would that be the best idea for Liquid though? It would eliminate them from using Taeja as well, and if Innovation wins both 2-0, not only has Liquid lost 2 games, but they also lost Taeja. Might be better to just throw fodder at Innovation and use Taeja and Hero to try to get the 4 wins.

It depends on if you believe Taeja can 1-1 or better with Innovation, if they don't think he can win(not sure why they would think this considering innovation's recent TvT losses) they can throw fodder zergs at him and do what you said. I think I would be confident in Taeja's ability to take those games though.
There are more options too of course, hard to say what would be best(I think TLO vsT is significantly better than the rest of TL zergs so I put him vs Terran twice but that might be outdated, can't say I follow him that closely to know well enough).

You said it like taeja is much better than innovation which is totally wrong.
Taeja vs INnoVation is a huge gamble for both teams. Super ace vs super ace, and if WCS finals is any indication, they're extremely closely matched (Taeja took out INnoVation 2-1 with an incredibly long and close third game).

I don't think that at all I just think that taeja is the superior tvt player.. going on recent form i think its a relatively sound assumption! saying that, its innovation! anything could happen between those two :D

I think they'll likely give Snute ZvZ as he kind of melts face in that matchup

Is the Acer selecting already set? So no Scarlett? Thats very bad news for acer. In this setup i would match TL up like this:
The thing is sending Teaja or Hero against innovation would be stupid. A win against innovation is has not more value as a win against Paranoid or Bly but on the foreigners Teaja and Hero has something like 80 - 90% winning chance giving Liquid 3 wins that are pretty save. Ret and Snute (or TLO/Zenio) would have nothing to lose against Innovation and could just throw curve balls. If liquid gets out 1-1 after Innovation it would be almost over.
I am not sure about Acer sending Innovation twice. I personally would send MMA twice because he has a shot at Teaja and Hero. Innovation once, Nerchio once and MMA twice the chances are not that bad that this is going to the ace match with Innovation as the last player instead of MMA. But in this setup Acer has more "must win" matchups, Innovation just cant lose, MMA has to win at least once and Nerchio too. Liquid on the other had has the huge advantage of setting up the matchups, Hero and Teaja as very stable players, which both can be the ace depending whos feeling better against MMA and TLO/Snute which are looking pretty good in zvz.
I wouldn't put Taeja against Innovation twice. They're matched pretty even so everything can happen there to be honest and Innovation could very well 2-0 which would screw TL hard. Actually, we'll have to see if Innovation even plays twice or if they want to save him for the ace match and have Nerchio play twice who certainly could take out Taeja at least once. Taeja's TvZ is really the weak link in his game right now.
Wow congratz Acer! Jaedong will be at DH either way so I'm happy with the result. Good to see that the zergs/foreigners are still relevant on team Acer .
WOW I am going to see Liquid play live!!!!! Should I go up to them? Man I am so nervous. The first day they will play 2 group stages and the finals of SC2L. and the second day RO16 onward. They are going to be busy so I appreciate any tips about not disturbing pro-gamers but getting a picture or an autograph.

just don't approach them right after the lost a match (which hopefully doesn't happen^^) and not right before a match. Best moment probably is either after one of the group stages or after 2nd match of the group stage when they still have a match to play but are already guaranteed to go through their group.
thanks! obviously I will be careful because I want them to do well and not disturb them but man, talking and seeing them will be like a dream come true. omg

EG really needs to improve it's player selection.. they always seem to give bad matchups for their players and the best possible solution for the other team..
It's either really bad luck or just lack of skillz..
I understand they try and play mind games.. but come on? you always lose the map selection wars...
There are no map selection wars. If it is the Proleague format each team chooses what player they want to send out on which map without knowing what the other teams are doing. Then the 2 rosters are put into the match-up. So it's luck mixed with putting your players on maps they are comfortable with mixed with analysis of what the opposing team might be doing based on history etc and not putting your least skilled players first so you don't get led by much.
