Hopefully Gom is quick about updating the bracket on their site. They usually are for the unstreamed day. Or hopefully some of those guys who know where to go on the Korean sites can keep us informed ^^
Also, does anyone know where I can find the WCS EU Challenger League Bracket Stage broadcast schedule? Someone also needs to add it to the calendar because Day 1 is in 11 hours.
You're no fun. Do you want to put the unstreamed matches in broadcast order or just leave them in the order of how they're placed in the bracket? The 13:00 KST matches that start the day are Swagger vs RagnaroK and Bang vs Stats

I can rearrange them for you
I am considering keeping the order, since it will reveal what the next round matchups are? If I rearrange them by time it might be confusing.
And it's not like the time is relevant since we won't see the games anyway -_-
On September 30 2013 13:50 WigglingSquid wrote: The amount of unstreamed matches make me sad. Did GOM say anything about the decision not to stream so much of Code A?
Nope they haven't commented on it as far as I know, so I will continue to not buy any tickets until they either give a good reason or rectify the situation.

ok. You forgot Dream vs Sacsri in the results section so I put it in for you
Did CJ pay GOM to broadcast all their matches? The unbroadcasted matches are so much better... I mean we could be seeing Symbol in Code A Ro48 for the second time in his life or the two cheesiest Zergs ever see who can outcheese the other (hyvaa vs. ST_ZerO) D:

I blame Blizzard. GOM broadcasted every Code A match before WCS started... Now there's only one third of the Ro48 matches being broadcasted and half of the Ro32... ~_~
Sniper ties it up 1-1 against ByuN Also Savage 1-0 Seed

It has nothing to do with Blizzard. It's GomTV's sole decision.

Well at least he got a Zerg instead of a Protoss so he doesn't have to worry about salvaging any Bunkers prematurely. ;o

Honestly I feel like Code A is a relic of the time when there was a demand for more and more sc2 content. But these days with 3 wcs regions, we got more than enough content just from the premier league. I kind of wish they would combine code b/a into a zotac-ish daily tournament qualifier system where you get points for winning/placing well in daily tournaments and that gives you a chance at the premier league. I feel that's a more effective way to determine the top players in a region.
Yeah but WCS is pretty much over now though. This Code A is actually Code A now? Unless at Blizzconn they announce WCS is going to start earlier and be spread out a bit more better in 2014.

That would actually be really interesting imo. Will never happen but I'd find it enjoyable. Reminds me of the old school TSL qualifiers, really enjoyed the drama of those, who's getting enough points to qualify etc.
That system would be difficult because you have players from Code S dropping down into Code A. Would players in Code S receive more points/seeds? If so that would make it more difficult for Code S players to drop out completely. The reason I like this current format is because it will quickly remove underperforming or lucky players.

There's still a demand for games of this quality, I would give up all of wcs to have things back to how they used to be.

Even there is no WCS, things will not get back. The popularity is not the same level anymore. Without WCS, SC2 can only be worse.

Yeah hear hear. I mean Code S - DH - IEM as they are now are all i think we need. With the bonus tournaments in the middle from other countries and then a big ending with Blizzcon is perfect i think.

I just want Code A where I can watch all the games, shouldn't be too hard considering they air all the games in NA and EU.
I seriously hope MKP loses and then retires, the sc2 community not seeing the last games of such an iconic player might be enough motivation to yell at gomtv loud enough to change it.
He wrote "goodbye" or something on facebook once but I don't think he ever said anything more than that. I guess some people may have read into the Prime LoL team as a hint at retirement.
That goodbye i would prefer to be aimed at leaving Prime and changing his scenery with another team. Get himself some more motivation etc, start picking up some more wins outside of Korea to bring his confidence levels back up
I hope this gives Marineking the kick he needs. I never really liked him but a) he needs to be around for Mvp to beat and b) he's too iconic to disappear
고병재(테) 진행중 송광호(프) means 고병재(테) Ko Byung Jae (Terran) - GuMiho's name and race 진행중 - In progress (they're playing game 1 now) 송광호(프) Song Gwang Ho (Protoss) - Aria's name and race
mkp is starcraft. i'd like him to move to a foreign team, but i think prime might die without him. Maru has better results ofc--at least recently, but he's not 1/10th as popular.

Aria 2-1 GuMiho, GuMiho receives the SuperNova Award (9 seasons of Code S in a row and falling to Code B 1 season away from the NesTea Award)
ouch poor gumiho
Except not really because next season is the OSL so he has an entire season to qualify and get back to Code S. The NesTea Award is basically irrelevant now. Mvp and NesTea are the only ones that actually deserve it. lol
It's fitting that the three that made the group of death of the Ro16 of both 2012 GSL Season 3 and 2013 GSL Season 1 fell out of the GSL on the same day.

Eh, from what I gather, even the much lauded "strict" practice regimen of Korean fame is just unstructured play.
That's okay, SKT has iloveoov now, so they finally start to think about structured play. Also, his interview is insanely good and smart, granted i felt BW terran bias there, lol.
I mean, I'm not extremely annoyed by it given how many matches are broadcasted this year, but when I bought the yearly Gom ticket, I still did expect I would be able to watch all code S and all code A...
Wow, this day must be to make up for Flash falling short in code S. MKP being knocked to code B is the best news ive heard all week. It has been a deep desire ever since he showed up in sc2 and I thought so many times he was going to fall off, yet kept staying and now he is finally gone! Hopefully it stays that way. Also Gumiho falling out is awesome, and sc to a lesser extent. Too bad Creator managed to stay but you can't win them all. Ironically the players I want gone are apparently keeping the interest of a large number of fans that maintain the scene .
I guess it's time for all these players to switch to WCS AM and EU next year if there are no restrictions. WCS KR is too difficult and there are not enough spots for all the great players that try to qualify for Code A / S.

I agree WCS KR has SOOOO many good players and not enough slots for them.

Then after another year, every decent players in WCS AM and EU are Koreans. Then we can talk about merging all three regions to a big Korean tournament to save trouble of traveling, held in Seoul every 3 months, which can be called starleague. That will be epic.

And so the circle continues it's roll. In fact, there are ~100 Korean players, that can take a games and series off each other. Thinking about doing any adequate event in form of preparation league for them is madness.

The problem of opening another region is Blizzard will need to invest more to match prize money, etc, for very little gains. With the declining market around the world right now, it doesn't seem to be a good idea.
Edit: Come to think about it, maybe leave that tournament run completely by some company in China will be a good idea to start, Blizzard will only need to invest very little. And Koreans can fly there easily for offline events which can start from as early as challenger league, that's much better than current WCS AM and EU format.

I think they can easily invest a lot of money but they don't want because they don't really care because they have D3, WoW, Heartstone.

wow sora is pretty good. I think it was silly for Curious to think he was going to win with just 100% roaches once it got to the point where he wasn't actually killing any part of Sora's army. But I am sure lesser toss' might have fallen to that.

Not surprised Sora won. Now to see Trust win against life 2-0 then my night is made :D. Rest of the games aren't interesting imo. That's one interesting rpg. Has a diablo-istic feeling to it

I've heard that before.
I've never been wrong about predicting the next sc2 banjovi.
I tried that game before, and early during hybrid proleague, I called by.sun the next SC2 bonjwa, and was happily surprised very arrogant about it later on. Then, I went on to call Bbyong the next terran bonjwa, and said that Bogus was trash, and wouldn't amount to anything. Since then I've taken a break from the bonjwa calling game.
Times are changing. Old veterans fall but new talent tales their place. Why people micht be sad now just think in a couple of months these rookies no names etc might be the ne mkps and squirtles of 2014 and so on who people will cheer just as hard for. Thats not to say I would like some of the veterans back (MKP sC Gumiho ) So go sora bunny etc! To a new generation!

You never know, it might take a while for Baby to really start to shine. It's hard to get opportunities to shine when you are in Korea 100% of the time.

I feel like this might be a good thing. These new players seem a lot stronger as the game progresses. We still have the bosses like inno, soulkey and rain. New generations that could take Protoss to a new level couldn't be a bad thing +)

most casters are esports personalities first and starcraft fans second, so they will talk up any game the community is active in. public interest in games = things to cast and talk about

I never watched lg 3d special so I dunno who played in it etc... ya I remember sC making a deep run once a long time back and losing the last game against nestea on crossfire(I recall) but then he retired unless he made another run and I'm not aware of it. Gumiho has been good in the past, agree but his play is nowhere near as amazing as it used to be.

didn't forget that, watched it live(if I recall correctly). I think it was the only semifinals he made though(don't remember if he made RO4 again anytime after). The all kill is good but I was mostly considering GSL. RO4 puts him in the same boat as sC, a good player but surely there must be more successful veterans from ESF :O
in my usage, yell would be more aggressive and connotes anger (as if in an argument), whereas shout is a more generic term for loud vocalization (as if calling to someone across a field)

Everyone played in the lg 3d special in Kroea. It was kind of like a mini 2012 WCS in Korea where they fought in their local districts until they finally got to the finals.
Gumiho all-killed one GSTL finals and got a triple kill in the other making him 8-0 in GSTL Finals.

yoda is playing stork, gg lol. roro hasn't looked like himself in a long while. I think Yonghwa is overrated but dunno who his opponent is. Yugioh is ok, can't say much. Most successful? I dunno if I would put sC and Gumiho there tbh. Everyone else though has either won a GSL or come really close to winning one(unless I'm forgetting something).
You forgot sC vs Nestea GSL semi finals?
Also gumhio all killed in a GSTL finals and made ro4 in a GSL season
didn't forget that, watched it live(if I recall correctly). I think it was the only semifinals he made though(don't remember if he made RO4 again anytime after). The all kill is good but I was mostly considering GSL. RO4 puts him in the same boat as sC, a good player but surely there must be more successful veterans from ESF :O
Back when there were sc2 tournaments in Korea outside of WCS/GSL and WCG.

Both sc and Gumi have made ro4 sc went deep multiple times infact and lost a really close Final vs drg for the lg 3d special
I never watched lg 3d special so I dunno who played in it etc... ya I remember sC making a deep run once a long time back and losing the last game against nestea on crossfire(I recall) but then he retired unless he made another run and I'm not aware of it. Gumiho has been good in the past, agree but his play is nowhere near as amazing as it used to be.

so... how come koreans tend to have short, abstract names which are common words like life, trust, curious, etc.? obviously english speaking players use names like this too, but it seems a lot more uniform with korean players. i mean, every single korean player i can think of has either that kind of name or a "name" name like jaedong... and not so much "demuslim" or "guitarcheese"
is it just something players do when they go pro to have a more "professional" image? or does it have something to do with the way the language is translated to english? anyone know?

pretty sure koreans flip through a korean-english dictionary and find a word that sounds cool.

I remember reading somewhere that a player just opened an english dictionary and chose a random word lol. Having said that, I think having a single word for your id just makes life easier lol

I want to say Artosis also told a story once where some players would hear a word on tv in english that they though sounded cool and they would use that as another way to pick names

No, I mean the random twitch ads. Right now, I'm specifically thinking of the goldbug ad that keeps popping up on my stream, for some reason. The Eternity Warriors 2 ad is amazing.

Sora looks really strong. I wish Curious would have gotten something more out of his build in game two because I thought he played a beautiful game up until the big attack. He denied soras scouting perfectly but waited to long with his attack and also didnt execute the attack very well.
Life's game 3 was a great performance by the aggressive zerg and showed what his style is capable of in the right hands.
