MMA has almost returned. The fact that he plays macro games against toss should hint at that pretty well.
Blizzcon Qualification Probabilities If Trap wins then he has a 10.18% chance to qualify, if he loses it's 0.98%. If Dear wins he has a 6.98% chance, else 0.71%
Soulkey is 100% either way. If Rain wins then he has a 98.66% chance, else 26.32%. Rain apparently just needs to make it to the season finals, even if he loses in the first round of the season finals then he has a 93.85% chance.
omg so closeeeeeee http://aligulac.com/inference/match/?bo=5&ps=1659,177 Dear and Trap at the same ratings. Dear has a better winrate both now and recently but Trap has a better PvP winrate both now and recently. Except every time I say better, I mean barely better.
http://aligulac.com/inference/match/?bo=5&ps=45,7 Aligulac rates Soulkey higher than Rain but Rain has the better winrate both overall and in PvZ, both now and recently. He's also 4-2 against Soulkey historically.
PvP is already so meta, I'm so excited to see Dear and Trap face off. Well, mostly I'm pissed its a team kill and a Protoss has to be eliminated. But I do hope their games are brutal.
Soulkey vs Rain will be incredible. Calling it for Rain. If Rain wins then it's guaranteed a T1 player in the finals. Sucks that all T1 players are on the same half of the bracket though

I'd prefer Trap to win this series. I really like his PvT and I think he has overall been playing better than Dear. But Dear is also really good so I wouldn't be sad if he wins.

ugh man srs. one thing killing starcraft 2 is all major tournaments have a chance of ending up getting sweet brackets (non mirrors), or lame brackets (mirrors). where as in league of legends at least the games there are more entertaining than PvP

It can be a bit diffucult to enjoy PvP if you havent watched alot of sc2. The nice things about the match up are hidden deep in things like meta, tactics, mind games etc. If you want to try to enjoy it I would say Artosis is the best guy to guide us through it.

PvP been better since HotS anyway. But in WoL especially most people didn't really appreciate the interesting parts of it because it was hard to understand. Hence that guide to PvP ahead of the Seed vs MC PvP Code S finals summer of 2012.
Then again those finals turned out to be relatively poor games anyway. :-\

I am asking this because I am not actually sure, should trap have skipped the robo and just added a 4th gate? even tho he would be behind at first, eventually he would catch up and you add ontop of that the Nexus Cannon. Or was robo the right choice?

Generally speaking you want Immortals out against Stalkers. Personally I feel Robo was the right choice. He needed more Immortals besides just that one though.

you could say that, but it didn't matter dear just had an overwhelming number of stalkers and would just blinked on top of the immortal instantly killing it.

He had no gas to do it. I was watching right after his first immortal popped out then died, he had only 48 gas and he was spending it on stalkers the moment he hit 50 gas every time.

well a bit sad we don't get to see Trap PvT since it's usually very entertaining. Hopefully Dear continues to play well and doesn't fail miserably like he has been in GSTL :3
This Eternity Warriors II ad is so terrible I have trouble believing it's real. Can't they, like, hire Tasteless to do that voiceover? And copy edit, too?
Holy shit I thought I would at least catch some of match 1, can't believe it is over already.
Anyway it is main even time. My favourite toss player against one of the top zergs, as a zerg I am torn who to root for. Hopefully I get to see some epic games.
I hope the WJS drama doesn't throw SK off his game.

regarding the music, maybe the quality of the music for a GSL season matches the hype of the season? I think every awesome season has had good music to subconsciously associate with it.

The last two were merely bad. The awful Christian country/rock song before that was...awful. Like, really, stupendously awful. Like, I have heard substantial amounts of Christian rock which is noticeably better than that song.

I guess, but it still is 7 matches of PvZ in Korea...not like any of those are pointless scrub protoss'. We all know the best 'toss are in Korea right now
OMG I am so excited for this match!!! I really like both players so much, but I feel Rain deserves a win. Soulkey has been doing so well lately that it is Rain's time to shine. But either way I seriously think the winner of this match will win the GSL.

MSC didn't even enough mana, because her despotic, patriarchal Protoss father prevented her from warping in the battlefield for so long.
Rain falling farther and farther behind... Well, what do you expect, Soulkey managed to tech to the next level, while Rain is still on the ground composition.
What a fucking great game! Looking at this, you wouldn't think there is anything to complain about in sc2. So manye fights and runbys, beautiful positioning and army movement all game long. Really nice.
wow, such bad decision making by rain why does he keep warping in stalkers against this runby 3 dts and everything would have been sliced. i didn't like the way rain played this game.

I don't think getting that 5th base again there would've been as big of a deal as Soulkey hadn't really mined much from it before his death push. And Soulkey had plenty of detection/static defenses at his other bases specifically for DT's. Not sure if he rebuilt that at his fifth after it was taken down the first time.

that's why he warped in 7 stalkers after he lost all the zealots :D:D just bad decision making and you can also make the dts to archons after they killed everything. quite useful as well. and ye targeting down the hatcheries and losing 3 warpprisms without doing anything losing them in the same spot over and over again, just a bit disappointed
Really sick play from Soulkey, I really like how he isn't wasteful with his units unlike some other zergs. Really retaining his midgame roaches, hydras to use for counter attacks in the lategame.
Good plays by Rain to try to take back the game after the offensive hatch.

Extremely. Sometimes I just want to 1. Just support a fan favourite from another race and fuck my race forever 2. Quit watching protosses altogether.
I love protoss play when it's aggressive, fast-paced and smart, like how protosses in gstl play. But whenever our pros do things like this.....

I think everyone makes mistakes like that in big matches and considering how many games Rain has played it probably won't tilt him too much. Coaches will be telling him the same thing, just forget about it and move on to the next one. He knows he had Soulkey in that game and he can use that as a confidence boost for the next one.
A true Protoss fan accepts all the failings of the Protoss players. It validates us into believing that our race is basically flawed and worse than the others, and that Protoss hero's are beautiful shooting stars that are absolutely brilliant but always fade away.

The most important thing to take away from this is that HerO never faded away

I think you could argue that any race that forgets to bring along its critical units is worse than others.

Parting has been intentionally losing to Zerg for months now, building up to this moment. He will show us the new and improved Soul Train™ 3.0 and crush him 3-0.
I will still never admit that soo is a good player.

Dear's got it don't worry. I don't like P but I think he will win this season in a PvP against Parting, because PvP is the only way P can win GSL's finals =)
Just watching the fight look hopeless for zerg. Colossus and stalkers bearing down on the swarm host line with forcefields in place. Then the observer's gone. Then you're wondering if zerg suddenly has a prayer. The one thing Rain could've done to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory he did.

well that was a beat down. i don't blame rain for doing a 2base on this map but the build he did wasn't the best if his plan was to all-in. even if he wanted to trick soulkey it still wasn't a good build to use D:

What a stomp. Soulkey was really on top of everything. Sad that Rain couldn't grab the win in g2 and choose DTs and Colossus allin in g1 and g3, instead of a solid macro game.
ugh Rain, I can't stand seeing this builds he often uses.. They are just so crap often. Way too safe in his macro games and his all-in builds are just not sharp enough. That timing was way too late and the whole 2 colossus build is just so slow compared to the classic immortal all-in. Soulkey played well though, dominated really.

Dear vs Trap G1 : Double One base all-in into Dear advantage into Trap trying to expand into Dear victory G2 : Blink vs Blink into Dear victory G3 : Pretty nice macro game where Dear molested Trap with immo and prisms.
Rain vs Soulkey Double macro game with SH vs Colo/stalker into Soulkey winning all the time. Last game was a 2 base all-in by Rain which failed hardcore.
Code A was more interesting than Code S in my opinion. Still waiting for the Soulkey VODs to be uploaded though, I'll definitely at least skim through them.
Oh cool. new liquibet. Hopefully this time I can vote on more than 50% of the bets. Was quite horrible how fast you had to bet last season. And seems like I still missed some this season -_- 2/2 today and my hottest loss streak is 1 with 63% of the points made. Really strange :D
Yay, Soulkey! Also, group a > group b confirmed. I just hope that this whole WJS situation did not affect his mindset. Also, Soulkey fanboy mode engaged:

and yes I know it was over fast, but still, some GSL finals have only lasted 2 hours and had 300+ pages.
Today was boring
also I slept
also next half of the Ro8 is much more interesting
Soulkey vs Rain is boring?!
I mean it ended up boring but that's just because watching Rain run around the map with his deathball is dull, not in theory it's exciting.
I've never found either of those players ZvP/PvZ to be super exciting. The matchup is exciting because both players are so good/well known, but their play in the matchup is sometimes dull.

Well, i am thinking about who will win Maru vs jjakji now.
Maru, jjakjis TvT isnt that good (but still better than Innovation) and Maru knows his TvT very well. I actually think Maru is going to back-to-back finals
Jjakji has two settings: Either he bombs out of GSL or he wins GSL. Be prepared for your next two time champ, and it's not gonna be Soulkey or Maru. WOOOOO

I am fine as long as Soulkey makes finals. Remember last time someone made back-to-back Code S finals. Yes, ex-Woongjin Stars player that was! P. S. Forgot to repeat: you cannot blame DRG for placing last in the True Group of Ro16 Death (other one possibly being group D if Maru and PartinG stomp their Ro8 (unlikely)).
Well, sounds like I did the right thing in having an early night. The games appear to have been largely unexceptional, but at least were over quickly. I did expect Soulkey to win, but a 3 - 0 stomp was unexpected. Rain... T_T

Same. Although it is initially discouraging, if I'm being objective, I don't really have anything to complain with the current state of SCII.
Tournaments are still quite common (more common than ever with WCS) and have strong prize pools. There are still tons of interesting players with very high level skills. There is still excellent community content, specifically Team Liquid coverage. The game itself is viewed by many to being more entertaining than before. Even with shorter LR threads, it just means I don't have to read as much to get the gist of what happened. (Sorry, I'm not as passionate/dedicated as you fine LR folks. : ( )
For me personally, the only thing that makes being a StarCraft fan less pleasing than before is reading all the negativity in threads.
SCII is no longer the pinnacle of esports, but most of what we love about it has remained unchanged , so why not focus on what we have in a strong community with a stable game.

Not enough esf/kespa baiting
The wall is down, nobody feel the urge to fight anymore. No fight, no passion.
it make sense. None of these four has huge fanboy. Who would wanna watch dear vs trap. I know they have great skills. But I just simple don't know them. You can see only 6 pages for a semifinal between dear and trap. While the soulkey vs rain match is ok, but still not enough fans.

This is pretty much exactly how I feel. It would suck if some day tournaments no longer felt like SC2 was worth the time, but goddamn it, stuff like World of Tanks still has tournaments, and look at BW, crawling along like a zombie. We're a niche now, but I don't mind that.

The difference is that Sc2 had everything a new game could ask for (a huge fan base even before the game came out) and managed it to throw it out just with a mediocre/boring-in-the-long-run design.

It's okay though, Sora is coming.
We could have San as the one too ^_^. At least he 2-0'd Soulkey, and did not get 2-0'd like PartinG or (essentially) Rain.

Then I suggest you watch 'winrates' in the future instead of tournaments, as tournaments are boring as eff. And the assumption that players of a certain race overperform or underperform consistently over years again and again and again betrays a moron with no clue about statistics whatsoever.

I do watch tournaments and for me PvZ is one of the best MUs to watch, that lately produces amazingly entertaining games (well, unless it is PartinG playing, since he will do everything fine and then will do something terrible). Also, race underperforming for years only tells me that it is played by Clidess instead of Mvps (yep, referencing Ts here :D). And yes, your whine about toss does not help either ^_^
