I'll just put the polls here because it's where they should be.
For the first time this season, SouL has a Terran. It's so amazing.
Also, SouL has to win this, AxAxer has to win tomorrow, and SouL has to win on Friday (all while making StarTale's -1 indicator lower than SouL's currently -7 indicator) for SouL to make playoffs. Otherwise StarTale is joining AxAcer and AZUBU in the playoffs.
Go AxAcer!

Oh yeah, first tournament games for the Oracle buff and Widow Mine nerf. :o

INnoVation dont care for no nerf! But in seriousness Im excited to see if hell continue to 4m or will mix it up now
|
I cannot watch but I would absolutely love anyone who live reports
|
oh yeah, I forgot this is all post-patch. Suddenly I'm interested.
Too bad no ZvP, I expected the roach buff to come into play most there.
I'll jizz blood if a terran attempts mech tonight. Probably not though :/
|
Last is probably going to be rusty as hell. Good to see he's maybe back from his injury though, maybe?

Can´t wait to see Trap´s PvP again.
Gogo Axiom, though! Ryung, MechvP, please.
|
|
Winning SPL is apparently a "...decent..." performance according to Wolf.

Also Wolfdor underestimating YoungJoo in his match-up... In every interview back when Seeker translated ALL THE THINGS, INnoVation always thanked YoungJoo for TvZ practice. He was the main practice partner back on STX SouL, he might know INnoVation's unknown to the public weaknesses. (If you go back to the interviews, YoungJoo's ID from Brood War was Size and he changed it to YoungJoo some time this year)
|
|
|
Looking forward to Trap and Innovation. Axiom-Acer will probably win quite convincingly, though.
|
I'm surprised Wolfdor hasn't mentioned Team Epic yet...
Also MKP won the MLG Winter Arena and MLG Winter Championship last year... Both over DRG in the finals.

It is, yes. It starts to deviate if you go either two barracks and faster tech or 3 barracks (which would be more standard or the earlier standard).

Holy shit that oracle's so fast

Is there a reason not to make oracles now? Gives nice map control.

No MMA?
Good game by Crank, even if his decision-making near the end wasn't the most perfect (and I guess when you're banking so much money, you don't need to have the best decision making lol)

An all-kill isn't unreasonable here for AA.
|
poor soul. they're so awful.
|
SSanaEE isn't on the line-up for the last match... He's 0-8 in 2 GSTL seasons if SouL doesn't make playoffs... and that's looking extremely unlikely right now.

Lol, I can see oracles becoming PvP version of the prenerf hellbats in TvT. Where PvP will just be oracles killing all of each others workers.

Yeah that is true, but you would still in a BO3 format have Trap 60-40 over Alicia, even in a mirror due to his awesome PvP

I don't think so tbh. Phoenix openings are just going to be more common now. An in base stargate phoenix first is still safe against an oracle build since the phoenix is like the only thing that's faster than an oracle (4,25 against the oracle's 4) and gives you a pretty good advantage against oracle first (and a pretty much BO win against proxy oracle). Should be zealot->sentry-> stargate builds though to have a forcefield ready in case of pressure and/or DTs

Yes, Phoenix opening is the hard counter for sure. But Phoenix opening also have problems with gateway builds.

Yeah, which is why it might be a bit more coinflippy and build oriented for a while until people figure out how to scout for things or how not to die, etc. Or just forever. I doubt that though, these pros are pretty good at figuring stuff out ;o

An in base stargate phoenix first is still safe against an oracle build since the phoenix is like the only thing that's faster than an oracle (4,25 against the oracle's 4) and gives you a pretty good advantage against oracle first (and a pretty much BO win against proxy oracle). Should be zealot->sentry-> stargate builds though to have a forcefield ready in case of pressure and/or DTs Yes, Phoenix opening is the hard counter for sure. But Phoenix opening also have problems with gateway builds. Yeah, which is why it might be a bit more coinflippy and build oriented for a while until people figure out how to scout for things or how not to die, etc. Or just forever. I doubt that though, these pros are pretty good at figuring stuff out ;o
I think it is coin flippy if you go proxy stargate. But if you start with oracles when you are on 2 bases, it becomes much better and not insta loss

I think the OP bolded Trap in the wrong place (not in the results spoiler)

If you mean a 1gate FE into SG oracle that's rather coinflippy because it dies even harder to some all ins than FE-> robo (some people like Parting still do it on 4 player maps sometimes). Imagine going 1gate FE -> stargate oracle (which you should keep at home initially because of a DT threat) and then someone shows up with an aggressive 1base phoenix all in. GGWP D:
But do it later and there will be hallucination scouting going on and 2 stalkers + overcharge should be ready anytime and your 300/300 investment will be worthless => you open yourself up to a timing or give your opponent an easier and earlier third base (leading to an even bigger timing later). Since charge/templar archives is the most standard choice in PvP your oracle might even get feedbacked and die, depending on your SG timing

Two or three Stalkers in the mineral line wins against a proxy Oracle and allows you to tech, so I don't think people need to assume that there will be only Stargate play in PvP.

I'd be really careful with those for a while but I don't think they'll fade away. You don't necessarily have to kill an oracle to be safe against it. Just having 2 stalkers ready should do the job (or 1 stalker and photon overcharge). And the usual oracle opening was into nexus/robo or robo/nexus depending on how safe you think you are so if your oracle doesn't do damage there's still a counterattack threat by the robo player. Oz and HerO for example do this a lot. They chronoboost out 2/3 immortals and add up to 2 gateways depending on how much they want to commit to it and hit a timing that exploits the lack of immortals. Worst case scenario they force the opponent to chrono emergency void rays and produce more sentries which slows down their teching. I'd say phoenix openings will be used a lot more until people figure out how to not take damage from oracles. A lot of the time even before the patch the oracle wouldn't die and the game would continue. That'll just happen more often now and oracles will punish a lack of defense harder

Upgrades, time warps, four Colossi.

Watching GSTL once in a while can't hurt, but shit I didn't even know GSTL changed format haha.

I feel like the casters are hyping Innos TvZ a bit too much, a lot has changed in the past few months. That coupled with the mine nerf, I dont think YoungJoo winning is THAT impossible.

Ryung was never going to win that fight. Maybe should have threatened with doom drops and so on to buy more time for larger viking count.

I was thinking that this is what's going to happen:
Inno will play same way, be less effective with mines, and still win because he's so good.

His TvT has not looked very sharp and lately his TvP hasnt looked very good either but I think his TvZ is still one of the absolute best in the world. Last time I saw it was a week or two ago in GSTL, dunno who the zerg was (on frost) but Innovation dominated him like it was GM vs gold player. Seriously.

Last time I saw it was a week or two ago in GSTL, dunno who the zerg was (on frost) but Innovation dominated him like it was GM vs gold player. Seriously. That was Lucky... and he's been playing like a Gold player this past month to be completely honest... His WCS America Challenger League games were 0/10, wouldn't watch ever. So glad he fell out of Challenger League after that... :o Wait what? You talking about Inno? You didn't read the quote, did you?

Dear vs Innovation Ace match Please.
|
dear vs innovation will be gsl final worthy
|
MMA should be in good shape considering he must have been practicing really hard for blizzcon. And maybe has a few builds prepared cuz of it

Bogus vs Dear would be epic. If Dear doesn't do a blink all-in.

today I will play Zerg on ladder and do the slow overlord baneling bombs everywhere.

innovation vs Dear ..

multiprong slow overlord drop will make your opponent think that they are playing tower defense and not starcraft

People really underestimate Trap. IMO he is better than Dear in doing snipe builds, gimmicky stuff etc so he most likely has a build prepared.
E: Not better, but more his style.*

Maybe comes down to form and the players mental state this particular day. Anyways, Trap is pretty damn good so this will be interesting. 50/50 match imo

Trap clumped his HTs together. I think if his HTs were spread more, he would have had a shot to hold out until colo.

AxAcer wins games 1 + 2, SouL wins 3, 4, 5, AxAcer wins games 6 + 7. End result looks like -_-

Meh Trap shouldn't of had his ghosts where he did. Guess didn't scout the army had ghosts until to late but still. Could of held that out landed the storms he needed too and colli comes out and he wins. Instead casts 1 shite storm out of a possibly 6 and loses 2 archons for free as he was fighting in an awful angle xD

Yes you somehow need to be 40 supply ahead against protoss and even/ahead on upgrades and only then when you have massive unit advantage, you can afford to switch to ghost. And even then you need to hit the timing before protoss goes colossus.
Maru was losing more units for sure but he would never be able to get such a macro lead against Dear even if he played a bit more passive.
Inno was just way better than Trap in this game.

If they expected Impact then they definitely would have picked Dear who is a PvZ monster. To be fair, Dear is a moster in all match-ups so it was silly to not send him out. If you have one of the best players (if not the best) in the world then why on earth would you not send him out in the ace match. It just doesn't make sense at all.

It's a shame that SouL didn't make the playoffs though, I think they suffered a lot early due to the turmoil from the transition from Kespa to eSF.
