But he has now become one of my favourite casters. Really dry humour and not afraid to point out when a player makes mistakes. And just continously drops knowledge bombs from nowhere.
He was really good IEM Singapore too. I really hope he continues to cast.

he probably will depending on whether or not he gets a place as a caster in wcs.

Don't think online tournaments count for featured unless it's TL run.

He should, as a caster he is pretty damn good, I think even better than some of the "beloved" casters

Ah that's what I'm missing then. Still getting lots of viewers though, so no big deal I suppose.

it's not in his hands if he gets hired, though wcs america would profit from him being a caster.

it is, it's on the "On Air" section unless you mean something else :o

If idra cast in PL that would be awesome but it is only a dream I feel WSC American's casting lineup is the weakest out of the region and enlisting idra would greatly improve the casting.

There's a "featured" TL section above "On Air" when some tournaments play, that's what I was referring too. Asus ROG was just there, before the stream went down.

oh that, yeah idk how that works
I think only premier tournaments get featured; maybe major tournaments too.
Well, I find it very hard to say something else than "Fuck you Major"
I understand that it can be frustrating to play in hard conditions, but come on, you are a pro player. You are supposed to play in more conditions than just the conditions that are perfect for you.
It reminds me of these practice bonjwas who can not transform their skill in LAN settings. Well, you don't get any medal for being good at home. You are expected to play in other circumstances than your perfect at-home setup.
Well, Masa was still up 2-1 so that's already that

Huk, Demu and Scarlett will all kill each other. That's kinda sad. Another relatively easy path for Kane into the finals, perhaps?
Getting to the finals is one thing . . . winning it with these players? That's gonna be a tough road for Kane. Almost the entire lower bracket should be favored over him.

shut up. he's playing from a lan with bad internet, you have no idea what the conditions could be like. it's not at all the same as being unable to perform under pressure or unable to play at lan. it's absurdly frustrating to not be able to play as well as you know you're capable of.

Ah he's playing at a LAN tournament as well. Inadvertently answered a question I posed earlier. Makes much more sense for a forfeit now.

If it get's to bad, i can totaly understand it.. sometimes it's just unwinable, when you've like 1000 ping or something.

Major has played on several LANs since he was like 14 years old, if there is one person that is capable of playing under pressure and under stressful conditions thats him, dont come here cursing a player just because you are not aware of his conditions.
No one in this thread should really be casting an opinion on Major's decision to forfeit either way. This isn't a live tournament where the viewers can see what's happening and thus come to a relatively informed opinion on the situation.
Nobody knows what's happened with Major. Better just to take his word for it that he had severe connection issues. Everything else is just wild speculation and drama.
Feel like I can hear a little bit too much bias against both these players from Idra. Considering they are probably both on his top 10 most hated list, I can understand it's hard to contain himself. But he should try harder, really.

If Huk sticks to his gateway style this will be easy for Demuslim I think.
Does Naniwa even know DeMuslim? Why the grudge - don't think they ever play each other.
Naniwa, DeMuslim, Cloud all were in Germany at the same time and played EPS back then. They also know each other from wc3 I guess. Don't think there is a grudge though, just some banter.

Really going to enjoy the Hitman series to be honest. I figure that's going to be the epitome of safe play from Scarlett, so I'm going to copy her builds like exactly for the ladder season.
Also Demuslim hasn't really figured out how to effectively cheese. He had a medivac and then just ran in his widow mines anyway. And he was totally vulnerable (no bunker) to a simple poke.

Oh man. I like Demuslim, I like his stream. I want to see him do well especially after his bright start to SC2, his injury etc, but his performances in tournaments have just been lackluster.
It looks like a pressure/mentality/nerves thing because he always looks cool and in control on his stream.

it's a joke. as in idra is about to say something that would result in his being banned.
With DeMuslim being gone, any chance of beating Scarlett is out the window IMO. Unless Hitman pulls some insane cheese that we've never seen before, which I find highly unlikely. I doubt this guy can cheese good enough to get by Ro8.
Not saying that DeMuslim would have beaten Scarlett - just that he probably had the best chance.

Well seeing it from that perspective you are probably right, one never knows how Idra will react.
Nonetheless I liked his casting and I do hope he gets invited for more tournaments in the future, he is really knowledgeable and I do enjoy his analysis.
Kinda disappointing for a first day ... I was expecting more out of the players (except for scarlett, her situation is understandable). Most of these guy have been outspoken defender of region lock and then treat shoutcraft like a third tier tournament.
Still, I think it's a awesome initiative by TB and Ting and I thank them both.
TB always getting burned by something in these tournaments. sets up a tournament for NA talent. NA talent proceeds to forfeit. NA wonders why they can't beat non NA players.
Agreed, I can't help but feel tonight was lackluster. 20k viewers isn't bad, but eh . . . the players seemed to show better games and more initiative on the ladder just getting to this tournament. The irony. . .

Yeah you do have a good point there. I followed the last ladder day qualifier and GOD was it exciting! Watching qxc, CatZ and the others duke it out was astonishing. These kind of tournaments give the Ladder that flavor that is sometimes lost (most of the time for whole seasons).

Kane looked pretty solid and Huk's aggressive style could cause her problems. She is obviously huge favourite to win but it isn't a forgone conclusion.

Interesting take, I think Kane / MaSa / HuK all have at least as good of a chance as Demuslim at beating Scarlett. Scarlett is obviously the player to beat, but I think Demuslim is actually one of the players who would be less likely to beat Scarlett compared to everyone else in the tournament besides Hitman
Not TB's fault or anything, just a really bad situation for him. Man, I was really looking forward to Shoutcraft America, and the first day is kinda lackluster. =/

Yeah, I agree. After watching Catz and QXC playing their heart out to qualifiy the forfeit are really hard to swallow.
It's a bit sad that lots of players try hard to qualify and many complain about having not enough tournaments and then a quarter of the players who get in just forfeit after playing a few maps when the tournament kinda needs to do well so there are gonna be more.
The reasons might be legit, but it still feels a bit like there's a lack of commitment, even if I don't want it to.

This is correct. There was no guarantee she would have been able to play out the full series on the Northcon computers and it was already stupidly late.

Yup, you can find them on his twitter account.
This is a tournament he actually has a small chance of winning, and he decides to get pissed the night before. Ah well, at least he gets a lot of viewers for his stream.
I can't help but feel that this could be solved in some way. Postpone the match or even play it tomorrow morning and cast from replays. Sucks so much for TB to have two players drop out like this.
To TB: Will any players forfeiting get banned from participating in future tournaments or something? Just curious.

Dw demuslim will always have his potential.
Demuslim has had the aura of 'having potential' for 2-3 years now. I always felt that given a stable environment he would begin pulling in results but he can't seem to make the jump from streamer/ladder hero to serious competitive player.
He should have just cheesed the last game instead of forfeiting since they were already 3 games into the series.
It would definetely look better PR-wise if TB would just give in and postpone the match. Even though demuslim forfeited.. im sure you can work things out.
Forfeit is still worse than delay imo.. if you have the choice.
I don't quite understand why he had to forfeit rather than the matches being postponed, especially considering the obvious precedent thus far in the tournament.
If Demuslim was really out drinking last night (regardless of how much) and then today he is sick then he has no one but himself to blame and to cut the crap about asking for a postponement. You have known about the tournament for awhile now and you CHOSE to go out the night before. It is a disgrace to the foreign scene and an insult to Totalbiscuit, who put in a lot of effort to make this happen and to the rest of the players who tried to qualify to just drop out.
All this does is make the foreign scene look like a bigger joke because the "pro" players drop out whenever they feel like it. I saw how hard players like Catz tried to qualify for this tournament up to the last minute and it's an insult to him for Demuslim just to give up so easily.

MajOr forfeited down 1-2 because of lag and bad internet conditions at some LAN he is playing at. DeMusliM forfeited down 1-2 because of illness. Scarlett's match was allowed to be delayed because of how late it was in Germany already with her having to finish up ASUS ROG first. People are mostly mad about the forfeits

Well it is pretty irritating to have two matches forfeited when TB is trying to run something good for the NA scene... I guess the reasons are legit but it just sucks.

MajOr forfeited down 1-2 because of lag and bad internet conditions at some LAN he is playing at. DeMusliM forfeited down 1-2 because of illness. I don't know about legit.. If demuslim had the strength to take a game off huk I'm sure he was okay to play 1-2 more games - you know, considering he's supposed to be a pro sc2 player...
The more important question would be, where is the EG coaching staff on this one? You know, the people that are paid to get the players to their tournaments in playing shape. "I was out drinking last night." ought to be unacceptable.

easily could be but won't stop people from jumping to conclusions. certainly doesnt help his case
Doesn't matter if he is sick from drinking or not. For all we know he could have gotten sick from just being at the bar. However, the point is he chose to go out the night before knowing he had a tournament to play in the next day/night. He had no known prior engagements that would validate a match postponement for him unlike Scarlett. Scarlett as a professional had a known prior event to attend (that TB knew of way in advance) that ran very late into the night after playing all day throughout the finals.
If I were Demuslim knowing I don't feel well then I go and get any kind of anti nausea medicine (which can be bought over the counter at any drug store), some other medication to numb the symptoms and a bucket. You got to throw up during game? Get a pause and puke in the bucket and back to playing after getting your head cleared for a few minutes. Losing a series but playing it out is far more worthy of praise than to just quit.

I'm not talking about who's to blame. Im pretty sure that its demuslim's fault for going to a bar the day before, getting sick afterwards and thus being unable to play in the tournament.
Im talking about finding the best solution for a situation even if its not your fault. As stated i think postponing is better than forfeit.
Just a bad comparison: Northcon's organisation was an absolute mess, and its totally northcon's fault. Apparently it was so bad that Take had to drive 10 hours back and forth to get better equipment and more manpower from his homestory cup crew. He didnt say: "well you screwed up, we just have to cancel the tournament because of you", he went out of his way to fix a situation he wasnt responsible for. In the end problems got fixed (more or less) and the tournament was an enjoyable experience from the semi finals onwards with some very memorable moments.

Sometimes (maybe one out of each four times I get really drunk) I get this insane hangover. Puke when I get home, wake up after ~4 hours of sleep and start to vomit again.
Proceed to vomit once each ~10-15 minutes for about 4 hours due to having the WORST headache. Finally I'm able to stick an aspirin (keep throwing up, no effect) and able to sleep. Sleep for ~4 more hours, feel like shit until next day.
I dunno what it is, my mum has the same so it's probably in our genes. It has become much less common this last year or two, just because I can kinda feel it coming and then stop drinking. Still happened two times this year iirc.
While I don't throw up at the evening the next day, I would for sure be in no condition to play a game against HuK!
Also, keep in mind he might've actually got sick today. Stranger things have happened, and I would prefer to give Demuslim the benefit of the doubt!
Surely the fact he played 3 of the games in full shows that he did try and play through the sickness? The fact he was at a karaoke bar last night doesn't prove anything.. he probably went out, had a couple of drinks and went home relatively early? Im just as annoyed as everyone else that he forfeited but I think we should throw the guy some benefit of doubt.. i mean, innocent until proven guilty and all that!

Yeah I'm gonna go with he isn't sick because of drinking. But if you're throwing up during a game you clearly can't play.
I don't care if you have to 11-11 every game and go puke between each map, you play out the damn series! Pete Sampras once vomited on the court at the US Open in the quarter finals and went on to win the damn tournament!!!

I don't know why people are surprised demu forfeited due to sickness. I don't know who claims to be sick more demu or scarlett as it seems one or both of them are sick all the time, but at least scarlett still plays through it and bosses it up at tournaments.
I saw the twitter boozing pic, but if you noticed alex garfield was in that picture too. Does that say something about eg's commitment to their players winning and being in the best conditions for tournaments? I think it does, but eg's known for marketing their players first and winning second. Lone exception would be jaedong as I doubt you'd catch him boozing it up before a big tournament.
Whoa there. . . I'm as disappointed as anyone and I complained earlier in the thread, but to state that DeMuslim is sick due to the possibility of him drinking last night is irrational and insane.
A person does not throw up from drinking 16+ hours after the event of getting drunk. Not unless it's a hospitalization-level situation. If DeMuslim threw up, he has food poisoning or the flu and it's completely out of his control.
I understand people's frustration and the desire for a scapegoat, but for fuck's sake don't blame DeMuslim with such feeble and irrational evidence. Trying to get the guy in trouble for his bad luck does not sit well with me, no matter how pissed I am with today's Shoutcraft matches.

When will Demuslim stop getting a free pass from his fans who attribute everything to all these external things of which he has no control? Guy's a cool guy, got some talent but he needs to knuckle down, really.
Perhaps he wasn't throwing up due to alcohol intake, perhaps it was entirely unrelated. Perhaps he went out to a Karaoke bar, had one drink to relax before his big tournament. Considering this community has a precedent in getting pissed with someone like Nani throwing a game when he ACTUALLY didn't have a chance to progress, the negative reaction should not come as a surprise to Demu.
If he forfeits according to Lan lag then that is totally unacceptable no matter what. First of all, you accept those risks when you go to a Lan. Second of all, even if you're 99% going to lose, you still play the god damn game when it's something important like Shoutcraft in basically an 8 player invitational.
In the end, no matter the reasons - out of 4 matches, 2 were forfeited and 1 moved. 20k viewers, meaning that only about 10k moved from the 50k audience of Asus ROG to watch NA tournament (10k because there was already 10k veiwers during the ROG finals). I think this pretty much kills any next attempts (unless they counted with such viewership in the first place).

I'm as critical, if not more critical, of DeMuslim than anyone. Look at my post history regarding the man - I've said some pretty harsh things in regards to his tournament performance and lack of results.
Nothing I said justifies being verbally attacked and with no context whatsoever. People have zero evidence to back up claims that this guy was suffering from alcohol poisoning during Shoutcraft. Being at a bar the night before is not evidence of anything. That's all I was pointing out, the stupidity of these types of assumptions. Shellshock even mentioned it several posts above.
Vent your frustrations elsewhere, rather than joining in on the mindless bandwagon of shit and hate that this thread has turned into.
Thanks for this link. Unfortunately it doesn't do much for DeMuslim's case, since he never explicitly says "I feel sick, I don't think I can play". His only excuse is "I gotta poop pretty bad", which is duly ignored by everyone in chat.
It also sort of puts Hitman in a weird place, although he also doesn't raise objections about unfairness. He could have insisted he'd prefer to play tonight but says he's fine with anything.
It's not 'zero' evidence it's a case of conjecture based on the material that he himself stuck up on the internet. It's not some claim springing entirely out of the ether.
Yeah it's not proof of anything, but neither is to make that kind of leap of logic a mark of insanity.

It's a mark of stupidity and rage. To form any opinion based on the such a weak conjecture is telling of how emotionally invested people are in DeMuslim. I'd even venture to say that the people raging at him and stating (as fact) that he was hungover are in fact, his biggest fans.
As I am not a big fan whatsoever, I have a less biased perspective. Nobody knows why he's sick, if he really is sick in the first place, or how sick he is. Nobody knows anything. That's what I stated earlier, by debunking this "evidence" of him being at a bar 16 hours earlier as being indicative of his "sickness".
But apparently people don't like having their rage-boners deflated here, as I started getting shit for stating the obvious regarding the "bar evidence", which isn't evidence of anything other than him being at a bar.

It might not be a mark of insanity, but rather stupidity. Like someone said above, even if you are drinking the night before, your not going to be throwing up ~24 hours later. If you are going to be using that against him, it should be on the grounds of "you're not taking the tournament seriously enough, going out the night before".
I honestly don't see the big deal, or atleast not the big deal as people are making it out to be. It sucks how things ended up, but it comes out worst for Demu, being out of the tournament. In that situation, I'd atleast rather have a forfeit than a Naniwa throw(not that I had anything really against it either, forfeit is just a more honest kind of throw).
People, many merely saying that perhaps it's not a good idea to go out drinking prior to his best chance at good tourney exposure until WCS NA restarts = 'a mark of stupidity and rage'?
Who is claiming they know what happened anyway?
You're assigning labels such as ignorant or saying that folks have rage boners based on these definitive claims that people aren't making lol.

Just look at the guy who blew his top and (I'm guessing) randomly insulted me for stating that the bar thing was actually not evidence of anything or indicative of "sickness". Good post and agreed. I feel that both Major and DeMuslim should have played it out if humanly possible. If not very, very sick or very, very laggy, those games should have been played out to the end. But it's all just speculation. Nobody knows how laggy or how sick these players were, except the players themselves.
It's too bad that this tournament was not marred by technical difficulties or administrative bungles, but rather uncommitted or whiny players. Yeah, I get it, being sick sucks, lag sucks, but play the goddamn games. That's my curmudgeonly stance... I'm not hating on any of the players, but I am hating their excuses and mentalities.
Even if he didn't get food poisoning from the pub, the fact that he goes to a pub, post a photo just the night before the tournament is a dumb move. Going to pub and grabbing one beer or more certainly should not be the attitude if you are going to compete on the next day. Not to mention drinking will have a negative impact onto your digestive system, it might not have caused it, it certainly made it worse in one way.
I want people to know I try to be a gentleman, and I go by the rules. I played Scarlett in her first ever Lan tournament, I was proxy 2 raxing, and she built an evo instead of a pool. I did something very stupid, and I let her regame, in which she owned me 2-0. I make mistakes and I keep on making them, but do not think for a second I walk away from this situation the same, I wish I knew what I know now a couple of hours ago.
It was really dumb of Demuslim to let her regame, but respect to him. I've done something similar before, and I won't make that mistake again, even if it seems like being a bit of a meanie .

Um. Except he has a tournament to attain the next day? I am sure a normal human being would set his priority straight and be prepared for the match instead of posting photo of him chilling the night before a competition, especially when he is a figurehead, branded with one of the biggest esport team, then go on being ill and can't play in the tournament?
And it is dumb to post that photo because he has a tournament to play the next day. Instead of showing how hard working he is, he shows us one reason why he didn't play or didn't give all his best.
even uni students would not post them hanging out in bar the night before their final, they would post photos of how crowded the library is or the study notes all over the desk.
Is it really hard for normal people to tell their friend that he has a tournament to play tomorrow and so he should he focusing on that first?

This is super patronizing. Do people seriously think that being a pro player means devoting 100% of all of your time to preparing for a match or have this idea that if you are doing something other than practicing Starcraft that you are somehow not taking things seriously?
Here's the thing, practice the night before a match isn't going to help you that much. You make a comparison to a university final, and the two things are completely different. Taking a normal university exam is exercising your medium-term memory, that's why studying the night before helps. Starcraft doesn't test your medium or short term preparation, it tests your long term preparation. This point should be pretty obvious because players like Scarlett, Bomber, and Jaedong just demonstrated that they can travel around the globe and show good results.
A better university analogy would be to PhD qualifier exams. When I took those, I did 0 studying the weekend before the exam, because my professors specifically told me to not study-- I had spent the previous 3 months studying non-stop. It was far more important to rest my mind and get mentally prepared for this test of long-term memory. Starcraft is likely very similar where plenty of pro players will tell stories of doing things to relax before big games. After all, the work has already been done and put in. An extra 3 hours of practice isn't going to make a big difference in your play; it could possibly even hurt it. Getting yourself into a relaxed state of mind is by far the most important thing that a player can do.
In this case if Demu had a drink or two with some friends, then so what? The only thing I could potentially fault him for is if he actually threw caution to the wind and ended up getting completely drunk to the point where he would be hungover the next day; that would be something worth disapproving of. However, there is a lot of room between having a drink or two and binge drinking. I'd think that if he was sloppy drunk the night before a match, EG would take some disciplinary action because it is in their best interests to have their players in top form for matches. If Demuslim got food poisoning or some other sickness, then that is a random event unrelated to any decisions that he made and would warrant no further action.
The whole "you shouldn't have gone to a bar the night before a match" really doesn't show an understanding of what players lives are actually like or what going to a bar actually entails.

its so easy for people to say in hindsight "oh he shouldn't of gone out in all." But i'm sure he, like all other normal human beings, probably just wanted to go out with friends, have fun, and possibly have a beer or two. i don't know how its "dumb" to post a picture of you going to pub the day before an online tournament. if he had posted a video of himself getting totally hammered or something then i could see it being a dumb move, but he can't post a picture of himself going out with friends?
I think it looks bad. His job is to win games in the name of EG. He doesn't get a lot of chances to do that so ya he should have been more responsible. Imagine going to work and being 2 hung over to work you will get fired.

That's assuming he was hung over. That's a pretty big assumption. I even said that if he was hung over, that should be grounds for some disciplinary action (a fine or suspension, EG has done that before with Stephano and Idra). However, there's a huge gulf between going out to a bar and winding up hungover. Drinking isn't a binary thing. Assuming he only had a beer or two, I don't know what he could have done which would have been 'more responsible.'
Wait so Scarlett/Hitman was delayed a day (totally understandable, good guy Hitman). But then Major AND Demuslim forfeit halfway through the series? What happened? Must have been a short-ass stream.
Umm a lot of pros actually say they would study up their opponent or practising with practice partner instead of going out to relax.. I don't know where you got the impression from.
Read up the KR interviews, some pros even complain about the lack of practise partner or thank you their partner for practising overnight with him.

Why are you assuming he was hung over? Because he was at a bar? It isn't irresponsible to relax the night before a competition, in fact that makes a lot of sense. Past that all you're doing is making the silly assumption that 'sick' means 'drunk'.

What is the time frame on that? The night before or the week before? Practicing overnight the night before a match is probably the dumbest thing you could do. It's far more important for your body and mind to be in a good state at the time of your match. The extra few hours of practice the night before a match isn't going to actually help your skill level, but I could see it as kind of a coping mechanism.
Practicing overnight in the days before a match. Go for it, that's when the practice actually matters. That's when you need to sharpen your build orders so that it becomes second nature. I could be wrong, but it seems pretty obvious that if you are still working on your builds the night before a match, you're pretty far behind the curve in preparation.
Wow this is the first tournament in ages where it actually feels like everyone lost. Especially TB, man all that effort with securing a sponsor / running the tournament and players don't even give a fuck.
Out night before, sick for work the day after. Haha where I work everyone knows what that means. Also sounds like half of you never been properly hungover :D
Anyways whether he got blackout drunk or not, nobody will know, maybe he got pregnant hence the vomiting.
I also don't think TB can just postpone games willy-nilly because players like will just walk all over him and take the piss.
DeMusliM did not have a legitimate reason to forfeit his last game. He had a reason to not play his best, but it was no excuse to just get up and leave and screw over TB, the sponsor, and his fans.
Must suck for Demu to get so much flak for forfeiting the final game when he has the slightly more legitimate reason than Major who forfeited because... lag. Guess that comes with being on EG and a popular player.
Either way, it's a shame this had to happen and I feel Major should've just played out his final game even if it did lag, for Demu - if he already played 3 games then he might as well 11/11 the last one/two and be done with it but I get not wanting to play when you're feeling that bad. I sincerely hope TB doesn't see this as a sign to not do tournaments like this anymore as this just seems bad luck at this point.
Why do we think this is even related to drink? Roughly looking at the times he'd have almost a day since he'd been drinking.
Going by the rough measure of 1 unit being processed per hour that would mean Demuslim would've had to have over 24 units of alcohol. The legal driving amount is roughly 4 units. Demuslim would've had to have been paralytic/stomach pumping if he were to still be throwing up now, assuming average figures.
The rough outline is if Demu got paralytic drunk knowing full well that a tournament was coming up then he'd be in the wrong, otherwise he's not.
Just came here and don't know the whole story, but going out a day before you have a tournament game? No matter if you drink or not, you don't even need to grind games that last night but use that time to either prepare mentally like think about the game or just relax at home, go to sleep earlier, etc. Unless you don't really care about the tournament then nothing really matters i guess... So that's two viewpoints, nr 3 would be a genuine sickness that made him not able to play, but from the posts here that seems highy doubtly.
Wow, glad that I didn't tune in to that show... but I really feel for TB being screwed over again... -.- Maybe tournaments on NA are just not supposed to be, so how about a Shoutcraft EU next? :D

Wow a guy gets sick and everybody smash him, what a nice community. Major leaving for lag is probably worse than that but still understandable. TB has bad luck.He should have hold hole tournament on Sunday and avoid NorthCom altogether. Too much unnecessary drama imho.

I have kept myself out of the discussion, but I just wanted to point out a few reasons why that post does not make any sense at all (as far as I understand):
1) nobody has been talking about 100% of their time, just the couple of days before a very important match
2) nobody has been demanding him grinding games till the very last second, but that he doesn't do activities that might hinder his performance in the next day. What you described in your university analogy can also be counted as proper preparation.

I am also not saying the beer is the reason why he would get sick on the next day. I am saying drinking beer ONE NIGHT before the tournament is a poor attitude. It might not have been the sole cause, but it certainly contributed to his body condition. Is this such a hard concept to grasp? and from the chatlog he posted, it certainly doesn't help that he didn't even bother to mention of his body condition. That is just disrespectful for TB

Demu was sick, we don't know why and the cause of it. He actually tried go through the series. It's unfortunate, but I only see victims here. The bad guy here is Major. Lag is bad, makes you play like sjow and such. Everyone knows that.
But everyone knows that you can play with lag anyways. The korean players even have special tactics (cheeses, compositions) to play under lag conditions in EU/NA servers.
Forfeiting Major would lost anyway, then why don't go for it and see what happens? Lack of consideration.
I came over from the ASUS ROG tournament which was heavily delayed by technical difficulties and ddos bullshit, just to see that shoutcraft had the worst case scenario for their day1. It doesn't really matter why major and demuslim forfeited their matches because the guy who pays for their half-arsed motivation is TB. The worst that could happen to demu would be the kick from EG but if he really felt sick and someone of the EG staff could confirm it, then he is fine. His streaming viewers are quite high which means that he is still a money machine for EG. TB on the other hand confirmed that the last shoutcraft wasn't a win for them and it was quite brave to go out and make another one in the hopes of earning money for axiom. And then this happens. Scarlett is a viewer-magnet, so it was a good decision to postpone her match. We wanna see her on high level as usual! The other matches were good too. I loved the matchups but I missed Kane (my second favorite in the brackets) due to ASUS ROG and the other two got forfeited anyway. I feel so sry for TB. Sry, sry, sry. I'm quite excited though what he will write on his blog after this tournament is over.

because the idea of needing to take care of yourself before some important event is certainly out of your understanding. or is the idea of letting the tournament organisor know earlier so that it won't be a mess when it actually starts

If you have been in any sport team, your coach would have told you to stay off alcohol because of its impact on your body. It might not have been the sole cause, but it certainly contributed to his body condition. Is this such a hard concept to grasp? It's the same idea why you shouldn't eat raw seafood just one day/night before anything important.
and from the chatlog he posted, it certainly doesn't help that he didn't even bother to mention of his body condition. That is just disrespectful for TB
hahahaha i can't tell if this is a troll or not.
because the idea of needing to take care of yourself before some important event is certainly out of your understanding. or is the idea of letting the tournament organisor know earlier so that it won't be a mess when it actually starts
Hindsight is 20/20, him going out has not been proven to be connected to his illness, nor is it logical at all.
If I were having an important test the next day, I'd probably not go out. That being said, a test isn't really a good comparison with a tournament, it is most often a challenge on your memory which playing a tournament is not at all. I'd rather compare it to fx. an important business meeting. If I had an important business meeting _the next night_ I'd not feel any need to relax at home. To go out and have some fun(within limits) makes as much sense to me as relaxing.

But everyone knows that you can play with lag anyways. The korean players even have special tactics (cheeses, compositions) to play under lag conditions in EU/NA servers.
Forfeiting Major would lost anyway, then why don't go for it and see what happens? Lack of consideration.
From reddit:
"His first official match in months and he goes out partying the night before and posts pictures on twitter of the night..... forfeits his match cause hes hungover. Not even to mention it is shoutcraft, a total biscuit privately funded tournament. Arghh"

Not to mention drinking will have a negative impact onto your digestive system, it might not have caused it, it certainly made it worse in one way.
its so easy for people to say in hindsight "oh he shouldn't of gone out in all." But i'm sure he, like all other normal human beings, probably just wanted to go out with friends, have fun, and possibly have a beer or two. i don't know how its "dumb" to post a picture of you going to pub the day before an online tournament. if he had posted a video of himself getting totally hammered or something then i could see it being a dumb move, but he can't post a picture of himself going out with friends?
1) The post I was replying to was saying that he shouldn't have had a beer with friends the night before a match. I was saying this was a dumb criticism because at that point your skill level and preparation are committed because you're not going to suddenly get better the night before a match. There's historically been a lot of criticism from random community members whenever a foreign player is seen doing something other than just grinding starcraft games; I remember Incontrol talking about flak that he would receive when he talked about wanting to play games in his non-practice time.
2) There's a 95% chance he wasn't doing activities that might hinder his performance the next day. To think going to a bar 24 hours before getting sick is part some causal chain betrays a lack of understanding of going out and how alcohol works. If Demuslim only had a beer or two like a responsible person, then the only way that going out the night before can be linked to sickness is through food poisoning or through catching a stomach virus from someone he was with. Randomly getting sick and being physically unable to play your matches shouldn't be the source of a witch hunt.

You're either 14 or have stayed home your entire life. The fact that you even suggested that having a beer or two is somehow demonstrating poor "attitude" for a starcraft game the next day is simply ridiculous. Having a beer or two over lunch or dinner is common as fuck. Unlike the exaggerated hollywood movies over which you seem to have built your misguided preconceptions about alcohol consumption, most people aren't raging alcoholics who wake up with their head dipped in a toilet bowl the next day.

I know you've said that this isn't a troll post, but you are unintentionally trolling because you don't actually understand how alcohol works. Having a beer one night before a tournament game is completely normal and won't actually affect your gameplay because by the time you've driven home from the bar, the alcohol will be out of your system. As was said in a previous post, your body can process a standard drink (1 oz liquor, small glass of wine, or pint of beer) in an hour. The match was over 18 hours away from when he would have been drinking. Your point seems to be "doing anything other than grinding games the night before a tournament shows a bad attitute," and that shows a lack of understanding of how different people treat stressful situations. It's possible that going drinking could have helped him sleep better which would mean that drinking would be the responsible choice.
Unless he got completely wasted, then the only reason that the beer would have contributed to his forfeit would be through food poisoning. Once again, your analogy to raw seafood is a bad one because that usually has a giant disclaimer next to it on every menu. Getting food poisoning from something that is supposed to be safe is in no way Demuslim's fault and no one should be breaking out the pitchforks. It would be equally dumb if he went to a random diner, got food poisoning, and the community said "you shouldn't have gone to a diner, you should have known the risk of food poisoning."
Oh this is fucking perfect. Totalbiscuit sticks his neck out and puts money to try to support the NA scene, and this is what we get? 2 of the players forfeiting? How do you think the sponsor Ting might react to this?
Lag and illness? I never like those excuses. Of course it will adversely affect your play, and maybe I'm just idealistic, but I was hoping that Pro-gamers could either tough it out or try to work with tournament admins to find a better solution. Forfeiting just seems like a cop-out.
Another embarrassment for the NA scene, if you could even call it a scene.
have ranked players 9 through 100 waiting and let any who are hopeful of a player dropping out know the exact conditions.
if all top 8 players show up and play their games then these waiting players won't participate in the event. if any players ranked 9 through 100 do not like this condition then go do something other than wait for ShoutCraft America.
immediately replace Major, Demuslim, and any one else who can not fit the event in their busy schedule.
problem solved. no excuse required.
if Demuslim keeps breaking his hand or getting sick or whatever he'll just be remembered as a guy who could never get it together.

Demuslim is already the guy who could never get it together
Stuff like this is one of the reasons I'm not in favour of a wcs region lock. I don't have faith in the foreigners level of commitment to take it seriously. They want the easy ride to free money without koreans. TB put on a great tournament just for them with no koreans and we see they still have no problem forfeiting anyways. Just imagine the level of effort they would put in with a region lock.
They would train enough to be able to beat other foreigners and would put in the exact amount of effort and work to do so and no more. Their skill level wouldn't rise. It would stagnant because they would all train to a level just good enough to beat other foreigners.
