Sounds great! Makes the ladder more important
|
I dont understand the format :/ perhaps include a graphical illustration for idiots like me?
|
This is awesome, played matches on SB ladder yesterday and noticed changes in metagame, improvements in client, website ladder tracking, etc. so many great developments. Husky is also promoting SB now so I am sure the player base is rising, great stuff.
|
We're currently running through some bugs but will have everything squared away and adjusted by Tuesday for signups.
Get ready for a action based season of Starbow!
|
This is great, just if possible find a sponsor to award 50$ to winner of each of these preFinal tournaments. Everyone tries harder even if it is just for a bit of of cash and you might get a more known player to participate.
|
That's kinda awesome, also mad props to Rifkin !

I thought blizzard expressly prohibits any other ladders besides their own.

Since they made Arcade free and Starbow is considered a "mod" they can't do anything with it. Technically the Eros Client is a stand-a-lone "statistics" tracker that just happens to add/subtract values so in theory they can't touch that.

signed up, this should be fun

I guess I'm unsure on if there will be a tournament for each server ladder or if it will combine players from both regions
|
do you need to contact admins for them to link your binarybeast to your starbow name? Or how do they know who to accept ;p
|
Just to clarify:
You can sign up all the way until Friday, but you need to have more than 3k points now (or a couple of hours ago).

Its a combined tournament of the servers.
|
Hopefully some players like Beastyqt that kind of stopped playing SB after Invitational also apply for this
|
Anyone can make a liquipedia for this? (I need that to add it to tl.net schedule)
|
|
Any idea how many people signed up for this?
Its not in the TL calendar either btw..

I registered. Hopefully in time. I'm bad at these kinds of things and the site seems really unintuitive. If someone could give me a confirmation that I've mad it into the tourney I'd be thankful.

If you look on the list of participants, it says that you're confirmed.

If a player is confirmed, they have been validated to meet the 3k requirement as well as signed up in time.
The 7 people I stated above, registered but I can't validate their starbow accounts so I cant confirm them.

If I don't get responses for the unconfirmed individuals by 7pm PST who are:
ShyLilZerg / Shy.463 Meaviz / Meavis.839 Muukzor / Buttpluggen.676 krzywomordus / krzywomordus.514 lillerxxx / [T2Pa]CrsLiBerTy.535 nfteamSync / nfteamSync.433
I will leave unconfirmed and begin seeding players. I would prefer to not leave anyone out who registered for the event especially if they met the qualifications.

Okay after looking at it myself (NasD) I am able to put into words the problem that NooKS was having with the bracket. That problem being that it is IMPOSSIBLE to make a bracket where you seed people into both the Ro8 and Ro16. To get the same results you are looking for (same number of byes for these seeded players) you have to seed into the Ro8 (same 4 players) and INSTEAD the Ro32 (other previous 8 Ro16 players). This will result in a 128 person bracket (with numerous byes). The proper seeding going by the 12 seeded players given and the other 22 that signed up (total of 34, points based on totals at end of Friday night) will be this:
http://betterbracketmaker.com/#!/87bc8ae904235
This properly seeds players and puts proper seeds vs other proper seeds (example the #1 and #2 seeded players only able to meet in the finals as should be with seeded tournaments). The only problem is that this site does not allow for editing the bracket afterwards, so we may have to transfer this to the BinaryBeast site or to the Liquipedia page if somebody can do that.
Seeded Player (Points):
1) tehredbandit (7705) 2) rsvp (7293) 3) Franscar (6877) 4) NasD (6292) 5) Lopata (6021) 6) Hider (5959) 7) dirtybag (5746) 8) PsY (5552) 9) Eonus (5474) 10) Balthazar (5589) 11) wonkman (5235) (DECLARED NOT PLAYING AFTER SEEDING WAS COMPLETED) 11) BeastyQT (5112) 12) Gypsy (5354) 13) ElBowser (5023) 14) Rebuffering (4983) 15) Anathema (4677) 16) Capricis (4662) 17) Snftmd (4459) 18) Nap (4382) 19) Solidsmd (4376) 20) Dragonei (4101) 21) Corolla (4047) 22) JadePoP (3861) 23) Daumen (3824) 24) Link (3799) 25) Deathblood (3561) 26) Arush( 3381) 27) TeddyBear (3347) 28) Meavis (3074) 29) NiDoXiD (3050) 30) AniQe (3050) 31) TitanWet (2965) 32) AnteZ (2427) 33) nkr (??) 34) AlphaSquad (??)
*BOLD players were seeded as of Tuesday* *Player list based off previous approved player list/bracket which was made by NooKS* *The 3000 point cutoff (to qualify for tournament) was also Tuesday* *Total points (and seeding past top 12) were tallied as of Friday night* *In the event of players tying in points, a coin was flipped* *With wonkman not playing, BeastyQT would get the 11 seed, and Gypsy (previous 13th seed) would get the 12th*

I'll fix the liquipedia barckets up. I think I know how to do it now, gimmi an hour or so.

Thanks for putting it on. It was a very large time commitment though. If you could possibly find ways to speed it up a bit, I think it would be beneficial to everyone. There weren't even that many games and it lasted, what, around 6+ hours?

Definitely an issue we had. I think we need one less round with Bo3 (just Bo1) and less seeded players. Every seed = one extra round.
