History: On March 8th of 2014, No Dice Gaming put together two large show matches featuring four premier level professional players. The first of which (March 8th)[5] featured Liquid's TaeJa, CM Storm's Revival, Puzzle, and Dragon. This first event casted by BaseTrade, it was a successful event with great players, casting crew and production. TaeJa took the win over revival Revival 3-2 in the first set, and Dragon beat out Puzzle 3-2, resulting in a TvT final. TaeJa displayed his world class Terran vs Terran skills, and took first place convincingly with a 4-0 score. While Puzzle was able to beat Revival 2-1 for a third place finish. The second (March 29) was able to bring in the likes of Puzzle, Dragon, HyuN and Seed. HyuN and Puzzle were able to open things up strong, HyuN beating out Dragon 2-0 and Puzzle taking out former GSL Champion Seed 2-1. In the losers bracket, Dragon was able to take a out Seed 2-0 in two very close games. In the winner's/championship match, HyuN was able to take yet another commanding victory over Puzzle 2-0. Finally in the 2nd/3rd place match Puzzle was able to defeat Dragon 2-1. See details on these events Here.

He was linked wrong, my apologies ^^ He is a top 100 KR GM playing for No Dice Gaming and has beaten some strong players in practice and clan wars. He almost qualified for Code A, lost in i think it was semi finals two seasons ago. He is a dedicated worker and upcoming player... Look for him in future

Free and sC? didnt both retire?

Invite ?

sC retires and un-retires more often than Brett Favre. But he always but on a good show. Alongside Free and Maker, these returns from retirement should have some very good testing grounds in this tournament.

would be great if possible msg me in there, thx

HOLY SHIT! free[gm]! sCfOu! ST_AcE!
How did you convince these folks to un-retire? O_O
Also stoked for HyuN, Seed, iaguz and Petraeus! :D

Final wave of players have been announced - Indra (a taiwanese Zerg, competing in many online events), and MajOr! Also, due to a drop out of desRow, Acer's Bly has been asked to take his spot!

HEY!!! Emergency date change back one day. Event will start on Thursday same time and run through Saturday instead. I am so sorry for the change, but we do not want to compete with ATC on Wednesday. Do to the change, HyuN has dropped and Symbol has entered in his place. Please confirm you got this message!! <3 Sorry for the change!! Still working on improving some things for the future as well haha this is first tournament we've done with more than 4 players and overlooked some scheduling things. Thanks for your understanding.

So to clarify: Starting date has been moved to Thursday. Same time, will run through Saturday.

Still, this should be fun! :D

amazing tournament, good to see all these old names again

I just confirmed AcE and sC isn't participate this tournament. and you guys saying AcE has dropped due to time change? and i really wonder why Grid(Ghost) impersonation Puzzle in tournament even NDG's showmatch
|
|
|
In addition to Golden's post you also invited Noblesse and then said he couldn't play...
Seems like very horrendous organization for a $3000 tournament...
|
Disappointing. I was hoping for the return of free

So sC and free aren't playing, and Noblesse was invited too but isn't playing either... Damn these are all players that I would love to watch again. T_T

What i can understand from NDG is that they are bullshit?

Tip for next time! : You dont need to invite inactive/retired players to get people interested in your tournament. There is probably plenty of pro's who would want to play in a 3k tournament!

I don't understand what's the point of having someone faking as Puzzle It's not like Puzzle is a superstar or anything

For the record, they have stated that it's not the actual Puzzle in the previous showmatches, just some random top 50 GM with the same name. Everything else is really weird, but they never tried to impersonate the ex-Slayers Puzzle.
|
Hello, I'm a PR representative from ND Gaming. We're aware of the issues that have been brought up in this post and are working to investigate and bring about speedy solutions to the problem.
Just to clarify, as mentioned in the past two tournament posts, the player Puzzle is not the Puzzle from Slayers and is just a former top 50 Korean GM. He has multiple alternate accounts that he uses and we apologize for not having the tournament admin in the 2nd invitational enforce the sole account rule.
As far as the participation of the former Korean players (Ace, SC, and Free), we were assured by our contact in Korea that they would join the tournament. However, since Golden has brought up a discrepancy, we have sent them a message and are checking to re-confirm their participation.
Finally, to answer Desrow and several other progamers in this post, we originally came up with a list of progamers that we would have liked in the tournament. However, since it is an invitational, it is up to the organization to ultimately decide who gets in or not. If the mentioned retired Korean progamers are indeed unavailable then we will probably replace them with both up & coming and established progamers from the NA scene.
Before criticizing the organization further, we assure you that we will try to provide you with the fastest responses before the tournament starts tomorrow morning. If you have any other questions feel free to PM to this account or reply in this thread.
Thank you

Update on the event, 1 problem at a time... Q. Why was Puzzle on Ghost's account at one time? A. Puzzle and Ghost/Grid are best friends in real life, and sometimes share accounts. Puzzle showed up late to this event and had last logged in as Grid. I told him not to worry about it we had to start. In between matches, he switched back to Puzzle to make things clear. They are not however, the same person.
Q. Why did Grid use a fake person's picture? A. As No Dice Gaming, we were unaware of this fact and did not know anything about it until brought up by Golden. After talking to Ghost on the subject, he said he was pressured into a picture fast but did not want to give his real picture because he wants to be anonymous, as he as a player doesn't care for prize money or going pro, he just enjoys the game. He apologizes for this and feeling bad and embarrassed has dropped out of the tournament and is considering a possible full retirement.
Q. Have the previous players in the invitationals been paid? A. Yes they have all been payed the proper amounts. As will the players in this event. We are currently working on contacting the players who have won money in the past in our invitationals to Tweet this fact, and i will update their posts here as they do so. HyuN, Puzzle and Dragon etc have all been paid in full for their successes. If NDG were to fake money, i dont think it'd be very possible for us to continue hosting these events which is our plan, and has been our plan. https://twitter.com/SC2Dragon1 Jeon YongSoo @SC2Dragon1 51m @NODICEGAMING i got it 2th prize The other players we are still trying to gain contact of and will link when we have reached and gotten further confirms.
Q. Why are all of these Korean's being added and then dropping? A. Our Korean contacts were in charge of organizing the Korean players for participating in the event. The original list NDGame got of players we thought were all confirmed players, but it was a mis-translation. The players they had listed were players they were going to attempt to get, not players who have confirmed. I being the fool, had misunderstood their message and posted them as participating players.
The final player list is updated now and the event should be going on at the appropriate time and day. Any further questions on the matter, feel free to PM me. I understand all the confusion and what not about NDGame and this event right now, and im sincerely sorry. We tried organizing a large scale event in too little time. We plan on continuing these events and we plan on working on them to continue to improve our production and organization. This paints an improper picture of NDG, and we seek to make that up over the course of the event by putting on an amazing show and being able to run the future events better and a lot smoother than this was. Thanks everyone for your understanding <3 Much appreciated. Please PM with further questions and I will get back to you ASAP!
|
Good on you guys for being so clear with your methods and directly addressing people's concerns.
|
OK, Thank you for the update
|
Can anyone, affiliated with NDG or not, confirm whether or not this fake Puzzle (Grid) ever participated in any tournaments under the ID "Gun" or "kok7171"?

If puzzle and Ghost/Grid isn't same person, why Ghost played tournament on puzzle's account? that was same hotkey, (don't say they using same hotkey by friendship...) and i researched Ghost breaks game due to military 2012 jan to 2013 august. but why puzzle isn't play tournaments around this time? and Ghost's "last" match in tournament is Mar 03 2014 in SYF Gaming Pathfinder Team League and puzzle's "first" participation tournament is Mar 06 2014 in go4sc2 Cup Europe #350. (searched by aligulac). why they aren't play tournament at same time even they are best friends? and why puzzle play tournament suddenly after Ghost gone? you guys should be say truly. or you Ghost still lying to you guys.

I wasn't going to follow up post but since Golden did I will as well.
This one doesn't make any sense. As Golden said, you just need to be honest here. You invited a bunch of players, and if the above was true, then you'd already have known you'd hit your player cap. The fact was, you continued invited players even after getting at the "cap" for the tournament. You gave players a set time limit to respond so they'd get a spot, but even then the tournament was never really "full". If I had to guess, you just contacted a bunch of people and told them they could play. But upon getting in contact with so many people you just decided to pick and choose players even after invites had been extended. I may be wrong here, but the above quote definitely does not seem accurate in the case we experienced.
+ Show Spoiler +The only reason I actually followed up was just to speak on behalf of our Korean players. It's really kind of "meh" for them when they get an invite to a tournament with such a big prize pool and then we have to explain to them that they're not playing anymore for no apparent reason. >.>...

You click on the time that says when it was tweeted, like 20 min for example, then the tweet opens in an extra url and you just copy post that.

How did you accidently get a fake seed last week but the real one this week without realizing they weren't the same? :S
|
Btw, how exactly does the seeding work? I have the feeling that every player in group A is better than every player in group B (and C except Petraeus). I know, this can result from people droping out and getting replaced, but it seems a bit weird to me.

I don't have time to watch it but looking at all these dramas, I think you guys are dealing with everything really well.
Hope the event goes well and next time it will run smoothly

Bly vs Major game 1 was super sick! Burrow infestors and banelings are sick

Bly is just too handsome for Major, 2-0

Mic clipping kind of sucks. Feel like it's something that should've been tested out beforehand, because it honestly makes it impossible to listen to the cast.
All these organizational issues are killer, too. Iaguz seems to have dropped out because you guys delayed his match and he couldn't stay up any longer? All the replaced players and such; I don't even know who's supposed to be playing in this tournament anymore.

Yeah, people in the Root house having scheduling issues because of sleep has already happened before, that is not neccessarily the organizers fault. It is an unfortunate situation for both parties, but delays in esports events are nothing new, so they could have been forseeable. Stuff like that happens, I wouldn't blame anyone for this.
|
Ya iaguz dropping was too bad. And unfortunate. But we move on. And I agree group A was pretty stacked. We originally decided the groups by a random drawing. And group A was pretty stacked, then players dropping and adding sort of just added to it. Haha, but like we said before; in the future we are planning to give a longer notice and make sure players are confirmed. We had some mis translates and understandings this time around along with a short time period that made it kind of rough. But we are moving onto day 2 and things should hopefully run a bit better and smoother and provide some great games! thank you everyone for your endured support and understanding. It means alot.
|
Symbol, Bly, and Seed?
The other players will have a hard time going against them. I find it a little weird why they do a tournament with pretty good players, and fill with low tiers.
I mean, they should do these tournaments for all "rising stars" or upcoming talents, that would give the tournament more variety.

I mean, they should do these tournaments for all "rising stars" or upcoming talents, that would give the tournament more variety. That would also reduce the relevancy of winning it. If you just run a tournament with rising stars, their rise will not be supported in any way, since there is noone to raise above. You need a few veterans to measure the "risings stars" progress, otherwise there is no new information about their skill level. If new players can beat Bly, Symbol, Seed and MajOr, that shows their skill level and the progress they made and is an actual achievment, that further improves their status and gains actual momentum. If you only put "rising stars" against other "rising stars" all time, they will remain "rising stars" for ever and not actually become real ones.
TL;DR: "To be the man, you've got to beat the man", so I think, the way NDG is currently doing it is fine.
EDIT: You might want to post the results in this thread, since not every game was streamed and LP is still behind by quite a bit.
|
Major beat Symbol and Bly qxc. Then Major got taken down by Bly in the winners and decided to leave. Don't know how that will be solved. Casters did not know what happened with the last match in group C and I have no idea about D except for iaguz going to sleep.

Yes, that was my stand of information as well (except MajOr leaving, didn't know about that before. Just walkover I assume), I was mostly talking to the admins, since he knows everything.
Edit: And now someone edited LP wrongly, Bly won the group, not Symbol.

Groups have been made for Day 2: Group A = Petraeus vs Maker / Symbol vs Guitarcheese Group B = Seed vs Bly / Treme vs envious
Group B will proceed directly after Group A finishes. Top two places of each group then advance to Final 4

Wait, YELLOW?
This can't be the BW yellow, so who is this player?
Looks like a good event regardless, will be tuning in!
EDIT: Just watched some of the day 1 twitch vod stream, and the audio is really bad. Casters need better mics (my headset doesn't cause mic buzz like there's seems to).
Not my favorite casters in general but it would be tolerable if they had decent sound quality.
The games seem great, I always like watching Qxc, but you need to replace Aldaris.

Also, regarding this, both Maker and Symbol tied by default, so we had no definitive winner, and was randomized which played who, just separated. Both Seed and Bly still have chance to advance, as one can lose then win their next two matches.

Rough tournament so far, No Dice, but you learn best through experience! Utilize your dedication to make sure these issues don't happen next time, and maybe try to focus less on the Koreans. Good job handling everything so far. Keep it up

Good pvz right now Seed vs Symbol
edit - winners match bo5 or bo7? might want to fix that...

Congratulations to Symbol. Didn't think that he would be so strong in the playoffs after finishing second in both his groups. How did the loser and decider matches go? LP is stuck on Bly 1-0 in the former.
Edit: nvm I saw the bracket has been updated now
