Greetings from Lake Charles Scion eSports. The date for this year's Thanksgiving Open will be November 23rd, 2014. The event will take place at our dealership from 1:00PM till midnight. We will be featuring four games: Halo: Master Chief Collection, StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm, League of Legends, and Super Smash Bros. Project M.
The StarCraft 2 division will have a prize pool of around $1000.00 and will be casted by Louisiana natives Jacob LzGaMeR Winstead, and Matt EonShiKeno Gegg. The event will be a sixteen player double elimination tournament played entirely on-site, with the possibility of an online qualifier depending on number of registered players.
All of the tournament info including prize breakdown, rules and regulations, and registration forms can be found at the official Lake Charles Scion eSports website here:
We'd like to announce a special offer to the 16 participants of last year's pro division at the Thanksgiving Open. Although our travel budget is much reduced due to the expansion to three additional games and hundreds more players, we'd still like to help make it possible for you to attend if you're interested. We know that due to the much smaller prize pool it just won't make sense for some of you to come play in this event, but if you are interested, here is what we can do. We will provide a hotel room, transportation to and from the airport, and meals. The only thing we can't afford to do is get you to Lake Charles, but if you can get here, we'll cover the rest for you. Anyone who played in the pro division last year will receive an automatic seed into this year's live event. Contact Jeremy at esports@tarverautomotive.com if you're interested.
We'd like to offer a big welcome to Brandon puCK Qual to the field for this year's event, first WCS caliber player to throw his hat in the ring. So far he's the front runner to take home the top prize! Looking forward to having him back in Lake Charles.
Does nobody play StarCraft 2 anymore? Last time we had over 100 amateurs from within driving distance who would have been stoked to play for a $400 1st place prize... now we have like zero interest. Where are all of you guys/girls that voted for SC2 when we took a poll of what games we should host at this event?
By the way, check out this video promo for the event:
Last day to register for free is this Saturday! (You can still register after that as long as spots are available but a $10 late registration fee will be charged)
