Bly, NaDo, PiLiPiLi already signed up? This is getting interesting
|
shame this is at the same time as the ESL open cup if a day earlier you would get more players and vise verser
|
i thought this is a nA tournament exclusively dedicated to non european players. why are bly, pilipili & etc are signing up ?

Good Catch - Going to have to talk about better scheduling in the future. Last one overlapped with WCS NA :\
Pretty important that new tourneys don't overlap with more established ones if they want to succeed, especially without big names hosting it.
|
Not a big deal scarecrow, all ESL Play Tourneys are for community, the more the merrier :D
|
Wow there are going to be some sick games. I am so excited for this.
PS. I can tell you that we will be doing more of these for sure, and we'll be more mindful of other events next time :DD

what channel will this be streamed on?

loser bracket is a FAIL for this kind of tournament!

All the early rounds are Bo1 so it should go pretty quick.
If it fails hard we will definitely scrap the losers bracket for next time but Bo3's for every round take too long, and getting knocked out Round 1 after a Bo1 leaves many people sour.
|
just make bo3 each round, it's way faster.... loser bracket delay ur cup for at least 2 hours...
|
with amount of registered players ofc... if there gonna be 64 ppl, double will take about 7-8 hours, and ofc u know not only NA players play it, this tournament starts at 2 Am for me, if it takes 3-5 hours, i can take it, but if it's gonna take 7 hours, i wont even try... thats the point

When we created tourney we expected 32-64. Currently ~98 signed up. I don't think we'll have more than 64 people checkin(but I'd like to be surprised)
I'm not going to change it now since people are expecting this format as this is what we originally posted.
I do not believe that LB will add 2 hours, the losers bracket can, for the most part, be played concurrently with the winners bracket. It should be as if there is one extra round, two at the most.
For the next time we run this we will certainly consider other formats and doing this earlier in the day so as not to conflict with other community tournaments.
We hope to see you there, I think you'll be surprised how quickly things go. We will be pretty aggressive about people playing their next match and will be giving wins accordingly. Have some faith, double elim won't take as long as you think. Bo3's take just as long.
Starts in One hour. Please, checkin here: http://challonge.com/Insight5 meet here in game: battlenet://starcraft/group/1/129550

well i placed higher than I thought I would. that was fun! Also loser bracket for a guy like me in NA was really redeeming because after losing to a GM first round I felt a lot better when I remembered I had a second chance. Its awful for people like Bly who is in EU and is likely going to make it to the finals anyway, but for a casual diamond like me its really gratifying to know you have a backup plan.
Of course, I know I'm not the one winning money, but getting something like 16th place and playing gms and diamonds alike is really redeeming. I dont know if you'll host another tourney or do another double elimination but those are my two cents.
somehow i placed higher than deadzerg lol
