Legacy of The Ultras (LOTUS) is a tournament run by TaKeTV. With a total of 231 Bo5s overall (3 weeks with 11 Bo5s and 9 weeks with 22 Bo5s), it is the premier source for Legacy of the Void Beta games, featuring 22 top and favorite players competing for a $7500 prize pool.
The following post / thread is an overview about the complete schedule / playdays. We do have 231 bo5's in the league splitted in 3 weeks with 11 bo5 and 9 weeks with 22 bo5 / week. Obviously with so much content it cannot be guaranteed that everything will be casted LIVE, but we'll do our best to cast as many games as possible live.
The schedule will be added to the Teamliquid calender as soon as we have the matches for the week scheduled. This post can be used to create live report threads / overviews for the week if you guys would like to ;-)!

So anyway, I really hope Protoss gets some sort of NON-RECALL based mobility, cause I don't see what Protoss can ever do against multiple drops like that besides blink stalkers.

I like the tank drop in the ridiculously high mechanical ceiling it introduced. However, I hate even more that it removed everything great about the siege tank. The strategy and tactics of wol/hots tank play are now a moot point if you can just pick them up and fly away.
I would prefer much more if you can pick up sieged tanks but it reverts them to tank mode.

Who needs strategy and tactics when you have ABILITIES?
Is there any reason not to just always have tanks sieged and carried in medivacs ala hellbats? Like why bother ever having them not in siege mode and walking as long as you have the medivacs?

Yes, could have taken more as well. Maps 1&3 TRUE won by being the slightly better player, but with a few better engagements, those maps might have been winnable. Game 4 was pretty on-sided in favor of TRUE, game 2 was pretty one-sided in favor of GoOdy.

Yeah, Demuslim salty as usual, nothing new here.

Bly seemed to have keyboard problems from the start(build absolutely nothing that game beside 1 or a few drones) but did not pause the game till 1:48, DeMuslim seemed to suspect foul play to see his opener on that map citing his disbelieve that it took much more then a minute to stop the game he mentioned that bly might have had keyboard problems but he should have paused immediately not after he chose his build, it had nothing to do about leaving without checking with admin first. At the time DeMuslim paused when he was heavily lagging(both his stream and his game in stream seemed to start lagging simultaneously, shortly before dropping in the game and stream going down) not because of keyboard problems. ofcourse there might be a good reason why it took so long to pause the game but your misrepresenting demuslims argument

Qxc has been playing quite a bit of Legacy, not to mention writing up detailed blogs on his thoughts on LOTV-related topics like the TL mining model and Blizzard's patches. I'd imagine it was a major fsctor in his win. When I saw MMA stream Legacy, he didn't seem completely sure what to do with his Cyclones.
On May 17 2015 03:19 Shellshock wrote: qxc beat MMA? lol
MMA is still part of GSL, so he is probably training HotS mostly, while QXC is not part of a relevant HotS-tourney, probably until WCS season 3 starts. It makes sence for QXC (Or Semper, or DIMAGA) to try to get ahead and he will probably be able to cause quite a few upsets in the first few weeks of LOTUS. As soon as the rest of the players catches up in LotV-experience, things will likely turn around, though.
OMG, finally I watched a LoTV game with these new units! The beta is here for like several months and this was seriously the first time I ever saw a lurker and a disruptor in a high-level game, that was really great. The previous PvZs were really terrible, but this was overall a reasonably interesting game.
However I have the feeling that this "long beta" thing is not working very well, the new units scale extremely with skill and without focused training, we don't really get to see their real potential.

I have to say it's retarded that it's only casted in german, being an international tournament and not a german one, regardless of the host of the tournament

Basetrade does English when they're available, and they will be casting some of the older games in English eventually

Sponsors are partially german only and mostly german based, the people, this tournament is named after are mostly german and it it organized by a german company. If we classify a tournament only by it's players nationality, we might as well get korean casters for Dreamhack's main stream.
Besides that, BasetradeTV is covering it, whenever they have time.

Maybe you should think before you write or not write at all. BasetradeTV does feature it in German - when they are not available its usually Pughydude casting it. Polish coverage is done by Emil and French by oGame on their open evenings.
For Basetrade its a bit harsh to get involved since the times are very early for them. Also sometimes matches are postponed or rescheduled with short notice making it hard for them to cover it.

Hi Guys, Just wanted to update on our situation: The first 2 weeks have been difficult for us because we had events planned before LOTUS was announced. After JORD finishes up, we'll be dedicating a lot of our time to the tournament.
I wasn't wround yesterday, can someone let me know, what exactly happened with MMA? From what I read here, he quits the tournament to play PL; will that mean, that the QXC vs MMA-replacement series will be replayed and that the replacement will catch up to the rest in the next weeks?
Also what is up with Lambo, he hasn't played any of his matches yet.
Anyway, this might get interesting, Nerchio defeated Alicia in the first round, while PartinG lost 2 maps to Stephano.

Dimaga vs Semper is a great series, but I can't tell if it is hots or lotv really (Edit: fight wise that is. I do see that the mineral lines empty quicker)... have all tvz been like this one so far ?

Mostly yes, albeit Ultralisks give zerg the lategame advantage. Mech isn´t played by many, Vipers counter it pretty hard.

What did they get so crazy about? Something about donations?
I think Ultras look too tough. Kind of seems like they shut down Bio too hard. I am really afraid that mech will be played like half the time in LotV...

To have HSC XI be in the same dimension as the previous ones, they need to get 12.5k in addition to what they get from their sponsors (since they currently also pumping a lot of money into the new location), so they set up a fundraiser to get that. Someone apperently donated 1k$ for a player spot already.

MMA's replacement will be TOP if he accepts it - QXC was willing to play his series against TOP so TOP doesn't have to start with 0-1. Big respect to QXC for this. We asked him and it was his decision - so credit to him.

And two or three burrowed lurkers defend one base against any amount of zealot harass.
So as it seems Liberators have "low" range to set up their red circle, but they can shoot to the red circle of other Liberators that are up to 15 range from them.

Yeah the circle range is really not very high
edit: Tested it, the edge of the circle range is actually pretty high
The left liberator casted the left circle at max range. It can attack up to the 3 scvs in the circle of the second liberator.
I am not really a fan of being able to pick and drop tank in siege mode. The better change would be tank being able to get picked up in siege mode but if you drop them they will go back to normal mode.

Idk man, this tournament is impossible to keep track of. I didn't even realize they were streaming right now, it's not on the sidebar.
For tomorrow LOTUS is scheduled to start at 16.00 CEST so I guess they will cast 2 series before WCS starts, but I didn't manage to catch who exactly plays yet.

It's not so much that we're "too busy" but the communication for what we're casting vs when we're casting has not been great. Naruto knows this, he's had real life things to deal with (being sick, etc). When the scheduling is better, you will get more consistent English casts, promise!
For example: I live in the west coast, that's 9 hours behind CET. If they schedule something "last minute" with 9 hours to go, that's usually fine for anyone in EU - for us, I'm probably asleep.

Because most of these players are active HotS players. Meaning practicing a beta game just for one tournament would be a pretty much waste of time. So they rather use strategies they have hundreds of hours of practice on, than experiment new things. Its still a tournament and they want to win.
Lambo streamed his match vs Alicia with english commentary, it was really nice. He won 3-1 and you could see that Alicia isn't solid yet in LotV. Even got a "sugoyo" from Alicia, nice series (from a zerg's perspective) .
His stream in general is excellent btw, best zerg stream with commentary there is imo. Most of the time in english too.

I'm not able to watch a lot currently, but judging only from results, NightEnD looks quite solid anyway. He defeated MaNa yesterday as well, when MaNa was on a 4-0 streak (And MaNa got the same scoreline against PartinG today). The only weird thing was his loss to Lambo, but Lambo was able to beat Alicia today as well, so it may not be that weird. After being 3-0 in PvP now and with PartinG still playing HotS, who knows, maybe NE can even dethrone PartinG in round 9 (which should be coming up shortly). And if that happens, the fight for the overall win might get really open again.
Anyone got a contact I could talk to about casting? Seems sometimes there isn't an english cast for the games and I'd like to help out but struggling to get a response from anywhere.

TaKe's/TaKeTV's/NarutO's twitter or PM NarutO on TL.net?

NarutO's in charge of LOTUS, message him on twitter

That would be awesome, I suggested this (a second english cast that can fill in for BTTV) weeks ago, since I think it's sad that there is no english cast very often.
On June 03 2015 23:28 Musicus wrote: Btw NarutO, are there any plans to add more english casters? I think BTTV is too busy most of the time to cover the league.
So I don't think the promise of more consistent english casts was delivered. Now it might be scheduling issues and not on BasetradeTV's side, but I still think having a second english cast would be great. Also Wardi could probably deal better with casting on short notice since he just went fulltime and has no poblem with the timezone!
Yeah it must be tough with so manye games and players, but it's sometimes just sad to see. Maybe check out Wardii (he has quite some reach, his sc2 improve team league is a big success) or improve the communication with BTTV? Just my two cents as a viewer who thinks that the LotuS League could be even better and it's full potential is not being used .

We usually try to schedule as soon as possible, but its hard with a lot of content
I have a pretty open schedule and would be able to cast on very short notice etc. I tried PMing via TL a couple of times, is there a better way to contact you guys? I understand if you don't want or need another possible english stream, just thought I would offer and din't know if you had already seen my previous messages.

nice to see, but do you know anything about the results of the replays who couldn't be casted due to the new LotV patch? The official site gets updated very scarcely
Part of the fun of following a league is the story of how the players progress over time, and it feels difficult to grasp something like that with seemingly random broadcasts.
Knew something was up, I was hearing game sounds and wondering if the whole stream was just going to be Take's face lmao
How are the matches ordered btw? Due to all the schedule changes, I'm having a hard time matching the ongoing games to the day's schedule, and Liquipedia has matches from the same round being played on several different days.

That was Naruto not Take :D
Whoops
Naruto sounds a lot more relaxed when he talks than Take does.
I just took a look at the tournament on liquipedia. What a mess. Actually, I doubt that this tournament will be finished as intended. Maybe they should have gone for smaller groups and a tighter schedule. As there are still matches missing from the earlier playdays, the results of the whole tournament are meaningless, anyway.
Is there some kind of tournament at the end of this? Or is the prize money given out for round robin performance? I haven't actually seen any details regarding this.

Yeah I agree. If there hasn't been a match happening in a month it should be removed from the ongoing section though I guess that's a more liquipedia issue. And I wonder if this tournament will ever have a conclusion...
The tournament has finally finished \ü/ Only a single match is missing and it doesn't affect the top placements. The standings are up on Legacy of the Ultras!

I can't even edit the OP anymore to reflect this but YAY! They finally did it!

NarutO from TaKeTV set a deadline after which all games had to be finished. A few were played, the rest were voided and resulted in a 0-3 loss for both players.
