**The schedule is set in stone for the most part up through the finals. Up/Downs and the fall season are pending.**
We're trying to keep it simple, while still giving a solid competitive foundation for players that involve promotion and relegation across two division which we're dubbing Code C(Upper division) and Code O(Lower division)
Code C:
Top 16 instate players based off their ladder rank/points.
Code O:
Top 6 out of state/soon to be out of state players based off their rank/points
17th-22nd ranked instate players based off their ladder rank/points
4 players qualified through the CoSL Qualifier
Why this format?
This is first an foremost an amateur league, so keeping it simple is very important. For the first season we're restricting Code C to only current Colorado residents. Part of building a competitive foundation is to put a fence around the state, something the CU Buffs could learn :^)
Code O will have more variance, originally made to be a place for a lower division play and a place where recently/temporarily moved players from Colorado could play. WE WILL allow for out of state players to sign up also, but remember only top 6 ranks will be seeded, the rest will have to qualify this coming Saturday. The fall season rules will have to obviously be adjusted in regards to eligibility and residency, but we'll cross that road in October. A lot of it has to do with wanting to have the players play the finals live rather than online. With potential sponsorship we hope it will allow us to give out of state/in state players compensation/paid flight stay for finals events(Very future plans).
In terms of seeding, we're giving ladder purpose here. Players will be seeded based directly off their rank/points. It does slightly get a little messy because sometimes a player can have more points but a lower rank than a similar player. The effect on seeding itself will be minor. For now priority will go rank>points>W/L>Terran(jk)>tiebreaker bo3 for the seed. Players can prove their 'mmr' in competition,
Sounds chill, how do I sign up? No worries it's easier than TvZ playing mech. Head over to www.coloradostarleague.com on the front page you'll find a registration link towards the bottom.
Q: Will this be casted?
A: Si, we're still gathering our casters, but the plan is to have regularly scheduled weekly broadcasts, times and days is still tba.
Q: Does this have a liquipedia page?
A: Once CHL remembers how to code liqui properly it will.
Q: Will this have a prize pool?
A: At the current moment no. In the near future once we lay down the foundation(player base, casting schedule, schedule, venues) we hope we can begin presenting a reasonable model for orgs to look at and decide if it's worth their time and money. Running a kickstarter/fund me or donations is an option, but one we we're not going to run with that time being. Community is already strung out supporting everything as it is.
Q: Can I support/donate anyways? Or Sponsor?
A: When the season begins we'll add in an option somewhere for anyone interested in this.
Q: What's the purpose or plan for the CoSL?
A: To give Colorado SC2 players a competitive league to play in 4 seasons a year(Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall).
Q: Where can I find the full information, along with rules?
A: Head towards the website http://www.coloradostarleague.com
