sandwiches are good and as they come up with fancier and fancier names for the sandwiches the prices rise $0.20 a month.

The hot chocolate is nice too, also frozen raspberry lemonade. But it's nice to have something cheap that you can get breakfast at that isn't under the golden arches. (There's also a Timmies like a minute walk from the venue so everyone's been going there)

Breakfast Sandwiches are great. :D Shame they closed the one on the way to work rofl... I feel like they should be drinking iced capps actually.
Edit; Is it just me or does it seems like the sound is coming from one source and the picture from another? Like sometimes the sounds disappears when the observer is switching to another place on the map.

Hydra or JD gonna win. I want Seed to win because he is the only one here who is not currently a traitor. Regardless, I think it will be a ZvZ finals with either JD or Hydra winning.

ESL One (as well as LCS, HeroesWC, PWC) have kinda been nuking Twitch Servers today. R1CH's analyzer says TaKeTV is fine, so it might just be from Twitch's end (same goes for our, main, stream).
Where is Rifkin? Or someone who has crisp and clear pronunciation. This is unacceptable for a tournament that claims to be professional. If you want to be with the big boys like GSL, S2SL, DH, IEM etc then you need to be more professional than this. Get someone like Polt or Solar or MC who actually know a thing for two about English pronunciation. I will still watch this tournament for the players, but I am turning on adblock for this.

As far as I'm aware, Twitch throttles always so that the top streams are the most comfortable if they need to (which makes sense, they've the most viewers so they should get the bandwidth to support more). There are definitely other streams which got a shorter end of a stick than we all did though.
Hydra wins ... nobody else reaches his level of play ... I wish JD at least winning the match for 3rd place ... And I hope, he tests a bit Hydra's play, so that with a lot of luck, he wins against him in WCS and gets enough points for Blizzcon!!!

point is, jaedong WILL lose 3-0 to anyone in blizzcon that is not polt or a zerg, and has 0% chance to win it all, absolutely zero.
I don't think so. I do not think, JD belongs among the 16 best players in the world now, he had to leave Korea to have a chance to qualify for BlizzCon, but in one important tournament, the most important of the season, everyone can beat anyone else. JD can beat herO, Maru, Life, anyone. I agree, the probability for him to win BlizzCon is practically zero, but this does not matter.

nah i told you it would be a huge upset if jd took a game off hero, just like it was a huge upset this random guy took a game. by huge upset i mean really unlikely but possible.
what's absolutely impossible is that jaedong somehow wins in a bracket where everybody is better than him, some just by 10%, and others (like hero) by 1381981624872164%.

I think you meant hydra Yeah I agree herO is much stronger than jaedong but a large factor of how good a player is how motivated they are in practice. If JD qualifies for blizzcon he will be very motivated to practice which will boost his form for a while. On top of that herO's form is extremely random one day he is a god the next he loses in the most reatrded way imaginable. If you judge herO by that series he played vs soO in kespa without knowing who he is what would you think of him?

Well, HyuN is the favorite, HyuN is the better player, but JD seems to have a good day today, so I really hope, he gets the belt - because it is a HEAVY BELT and I am sure, if JD gets it and holds it, he will get an awesome motivation to practice for WCS and MSI!!!! JD go fot it!!!!
Sorry about this guys, but it seems to be on twitch's end. Our internet is stable here, I've run a test stream to hitbox and it worked fine. I'm going to see if there's something else we can do. Please just be patient for a bit longer. We're also locally recording everything so VODs will be fine regardless.

idk why anyone would have wanted the ZvP alternative. I guess the only plus side is with the number of all ins you usually see it would be over quicker.

Yeah, he went 15 hatch 14 pool versus an early pool and lost about half his drones in the defense. Ended up being JD up a base, but Hyun up like 7-8 drones.
Under usual circumstances I would hate HyuN for his builds. Since it is ZvZ, sadly what he does is good play... Still my allegiance is slowly shifting...

This can seriously be the confidence boost that JD needs before MSI and WCS ... not only that he has come back in the final, he has beaten a few reasonable players, but also the feeling when he picks up the belt!!!! :-) Rocky feeling!!! Go JD, go!!!! :-)

Wow!! What a great tournament! Really really really top of the line casters, the best of THE best players, a HUGE prize pool and best of all, the biggest crowd I have seen in SC2!! I hope this tournament will have a second one!! This tournament is single handedly saving SC2 and killing off DOTA2, LoL and CSGO!!!!

I like Mal and I hope he keeps getting hosting jobs, but I will say that I hope he improves in the future. I had a few gripes with some of his deliveries. Crank would also be nice to see more of, as he steadily improves his English.

Why? I am just saying it as it is. This is my opinion.

I know, right. I remember rabidly raging against 14cc when Flash beat him in starleagues (still think terran was slightly imba v zerg in BW)....this is just so weird. He can't win anything now. I'm heartbroken

the prize pool was good, but to be honest the casters weren't good except crank/ZG, players were meh, video quality had problems, crowd was meh, finals were underwhelming and zvz... meh tournament all in all

Mal was high risk//high reward in some of his delivery attempts. He tried to do some really cool stuff and sometimes it flopped. And sometimes it was funny and interesting,.
Over all i liked what he tried to do. And, umm let's face it.. his English is 5000X better than my Korean.
So a few quick reflections on the tournament. It wasn't exactly what I had hoped for in terms of viewers, attendees, play and so on. There were many good and cool things though, it never felt contrived, the BasetradeTV silliness went over well in a live studio, the giveaways and dancing were never awkward but pretty fun and in general it was nice to see that what is BTTV worked well. It was good that no big community figures came in and stole the show for example but that it was Crank and Livibee who aided with casting.
I think the slight disappointment I felt was due to two factors, a) the relative decrease in SC2 popularity. Really, really few tournaments have an actual decent offline crowd. The IAT crowd was really not bad but if you're just like 30 people or so you can never really get that crowd feel. B) Lack of hype players. Jaedong is a big favorite and I suppose Huk is pretty cool for the hometown audience but the tournament lacked it's Kespa heroes. Not that I know how to specifically deal with that but it's obviously part of why it only broke 10k viewers at the end and this thread is only 30 pages. TL could also have done it's share with a preview writeup (but I realize that writers have lots of stuff to do).
Anyway, this felt like a step in the right direction but it's not quite there yet. It was good but not excellent.
Because there have been so many people vocal about their disappointment, I want to do a review from my perspective. But obviously, I am biased. (I watched Online)
Highlights: * Dancing, cheering, sillyness, the crowd in general. Excellent crowd. * Pengwin basetrade games at the start and end of Day 1. * Intense's games and responses/interviews. * No one sided finals. * Host Mal asking in depth questions about the games. * The interaction between the casters and the crowd. * Diversity in casters compared to other events.
To be improved upon: * Camera shots of the crowd were lacking, only showed 1 side instead of having a complete overview or more frequent camera pans. * At the start of the day, I don't think the Host should be sitting down at start of the day, during the interviews sitting down was fine. * Downtime, there have been a lot of technical difficulties and downtime on both main and b-stream, which was understandable, but still disappointing. * The exciting introduction video should have been shown more frequently. * Some graphics with brackets would have been nice.
Conclusion:
For me personally, this has been one of the highlights and most fun tournament of the year. Things weren't perfect by any means, but I would still call this tournament a definite success.

Excellent summary, I could not write it better ...
I am seriously impressed by how smoothly this went considering it's BaseTrade's first live event. If you haven't been following BaseTrade for a while, you may not know how dramatic their growth has been, and how much they are able to do with so little funding. In a time where huge organizations are handling most tourneys, it's really nice to see what a very small group of people can do with community support. We got some great games too... ace matches, basetrades and some cool cheese/cheese defense.
Thanks and congrats to Rifkin, ZombieGrub and everyone involved. I can't wait for the next one... I'll definitely fund it again because I know it'll only get better!
