I wonder if I should start betting. despite knowing next to nothing about LOTV I have a strong feeling Byul will smack down Dear with no issues, would bet my house on it. we'll see how things play out I guess...
Dear vs ByuL's gonna be very interesting depending on Dear's form on that day. He barely lost to Byul in the semi-finals of last season so I guess he's looking for some revenge.
Pande it kinda ticks me off that you didn't put the "-" in the title, now it doesn't look pretty on the left side bar when day 1 and day 2 are beneath each other .

I hope Bunny can finally find some consistency. He's shown flashes of brilliance like knocking life into code b but he fades into obscurity shorty after.
with Zest's extreme PvP skills, I want to see what he'll bring into Legacy. Also I'm waiting to steal builds from him because everything that Zest does become standard for the Protoss <3 at this rate I fear there will be a team kill between Life and Zest, ... unless either of them get defeated by someone else... either way it's going to be sad for me :'(

Tastelss, how do you sleep with a beard like this? I find it really annoying to rest my face on my pillow with a slightly longer beard. 1 week is as long as I can go without shaving/trimming.
Edit: I guess it's fine if you sleep on your back .
Maybe it's wrong to laugh but this is pretty funny somehow.

Considering that Blizzard is thinking about forcing tanks to unsiege when picked up, this most likely won't be an issue for too much longer.

The first dropped tank fires first, and tankdrops beat presieged tanks due to mobility. The only micro I can think of that saves you after the enemy sieges first is lifting EVERYTHING and boosting backwards.

Defensively it seems weak, harder to play, not very rewarding and bad. Very excited for TRUE vs Forte today, and hoping for some disgusting ravager/infestor styles OR if the other ZvT styles show up, hopefully something that actually looks strong and successful...!
I'm glad that TRUE has lost this one... showing that you can't just build whatever you want and do "well"... No that was the sensible part, the stuff before that made no sense. Mass slow banes? Speed roaches with no upgrades? No ravagers? There are way better styles to go into fast ultras imo

Yeah, Salvation played a solid game, a bit sloppy at the start but did quite well in the end.

I think this is totally the right (and the only?) way to play this map for terran. You cant just go for a normal game when zerg has access to all those gold bases.
Why do zergs no longer play ling/bling/muta? Just because of the larva change? I think with the new economy just building an extra hatch is no problem and in the long run the stacking injects gets you more larva anway. Of course you can no longer go heavy muta, but just building ten for map control while going into hive and ultras seems really good to me. Anyway I went back to that since I can't win vs terran with ravagers, pure marines destroys me too hard.

From what I have heard its mostly because Mutas feel useless mostly thanks to liberators and tank/medivac micro is pretty strong. Most people just seem to prefer roach/ravager by a mile.
i don't know why Z would play lotv without at least some roaches/ravagers :/ taking the gold base is also super risky, prion terraces is extremely infamous for all kinds of early rax builds from terran

The funny bit about all of this is that we're so used to seeing so much cleaner play by high-end Korean players, but there's a massive lack of polish as a constant theme of these matches.

question. how come we didnt get to see the faces of the players? are they playing from home or studio? kinda sucks to not see the players and their reactions
With how slow things take to change around the e-sports world.. if we start asking for Bo5 to be the standard now, do you think we'll have it by the 2017 WCS season? :D

Awesome stuff from Forte, although TRUE didn't look to be on his A-game. I believe h won an Olimoleague recently his LOTV is not bad at all, Forte seemed to have a very specific strategy on each map and I really liked it.
Just wish the games were longer!!! Maybe we need to start seeing BO5 group stage matches! lol

Atm no game really feels epic I don't like that Blizzard wants games to end very fast in pretty much every franchise they have atm. First HeroesOfTheStorm, then Overwatch and now sc2. No epic games allowed? :/
I hope we will actually see these long games when people get better, right now i find it hard to get excited for the gameplay most of the time

It's on Korean prime time which seems appropriate. Also, making it earlier will cut in EU viewership..

I mean.. realistically, America is probably the worst timezone to cater to, Starcraft-wise. And I say this as someone who has woken up at 2 a.m. to watch GSL for three years now.
It's Korean prime time, and it's a decent morning time for the Europeans. It's probably the best time slot they could possibly have.

People forget the start of WoL and HotS. Same length of games in the core bit, just +5 minutes for the start up. Things will get figured out and we'll start seeing 15+ minute games most of the time.
It'll also help when we get a map pool more tuned to what LotV is about than HotS+ maps.
SC2 for an American is either because you work nights or VODS work fine. It's actually gotten a lot easier (and cheaper!) to be a SC2 fan in the last few years.

Don't worry, the "epic" games will be coming as things stablilize. I've already seen a couple 40 minute games creeping in on TLO's stream, and he's apologizing for how slow it can potentially be.
Catz had one that was.. an hour and thirty minutes? A few days ago.
The potential is there for the drawn out stuff. Things are still unstable, for now, I'd say enjoy it while everything's still fresh.

Remember that part of the games going really fast is that people still die to random allins/moveouts/cheeses all the time. WoL games became longer as time went on, and Hots got to 1,5+ hours quite regularly in half the matchups (ty SH)
If you like Zest the PvP was obviously great, not gonna lie Didn't watch the last the ZvT though, but the games were all pretty short so i just figured what happened :D
As i said, hopefully we will get longer games as soon as the players get better, if these short games are the norm it will be hard for me to get excited I want some epic stuff here and there! (no sh games weren't epic, most mech turtle games neither)

I'm pretty surprised Zerg still hasn't figured out a way to safely get to Hive tech. It seems like the majority of the time Zerg dies, it's because they're literally banking on 8 Armor Ultras to win them the game and then realize they don't have the army to support the Ultras. If they take the their time getting to Hive Tech I would feel they would be a lot better off.

Doesn't matter if Terran has ghosts by the time ultras are out, and it seems a lot easier for Terran's to tech to Ghost than to Zerg to tech Ultra, I think this is mainly because it seems terran is always(based on very few games) ahead coming into the midgame due to reapers or just plain greed which zerg can't match because it's simply too risky to cut corners vs Terran, the risk/reward isn't there.

I don't know why you are surprised, with how new the game is and how different it is from hots all the timings and stuff aren't figured out. It's going to take more then a month before people do.
Also from what I have heard and seen is Terran's midgame is stronger then zerg's as well.

That's just because the game is new. Safe standard openings are still being developed and balance might be all over the place. Just give it time and all this "too much action" will settle into something more similar to HotS.

I'm pretty sure this depends on the maps rather than the game, when the mappool will be updated there will be more such games. Edit: and I think in this tournament the terrans will struggle more against Protoss than against Zergs, I'll try to catch the games tomorrow :o

I'm not. I think the general dynamic changes favor Zerg in the lategame, but Terran in the midgame and that has always been Terran's strongest weapon, not even letting it get to the lategame. I think Demuslim (or was it qxc?) said it pretty well when he started with the beta: "OK, so zerg lategame is even stronger right now. Well, it's not like we really tried to play that against them anyways, so even more than before Terran will just try to get an advantage in the midgame". (paraphrased)
What seems to be the most popular Zerg playstyle right now is to go for the roach/ravager/ling style (usually plus infestors) in the midgame and then go up to ultras. My personal assessment about that style is that it is very good at forcing Terran into the defense early and preventing death from the midgame attacks of Terran but at the end of the day plays very much like the old roach/hydra style. It has problems with drops, problems with maxed out Terran pushes and transitions late/badly (underupgraded) into ultralisks. But it is really strong right now because an aggressive Terran player will often head on run into a wall or roaches. The other Zerg playstyle, focusing on ling/bling and something spire (corruptors or mutas) transitions much better upgradewise and has a much better chance in maxed vs maxed fights and can actually deal with drops. But it feels very weak against the traditional Terran midgame pushes due to liberators and the larvanerf and may still require some form of roach/ravager play to start of because of liberators and hellbat pushes. I think these sorts of playstyles - bunch of variations of it like ling/ravager/infestor with ling upgrades, corruptors or mutas, maybe lurkers as in blade's guide - are in theory better, but much harder to play and you often fall 20 supply behind in the midgame just because of the larvachange and probably the 12 worker start which make it almost impossible to grab a 4 base vs 3 base eco advantage with 75+ drones as was required in HotS to play that way.
The game is still young, but anyways, those are my thoughts on TvZ and why it is very even at the moment but could swing heavily in either direction if one side just finds a cookie-cutter build that ensures a midgame kill, or can defend all aggression while reaching Hive.
