It’s that time again! The RSL is back for the first season of 2016! After our Rival Weeklies, we’ll be broadcasting our tournament just like we did last year! Two Group Stages followed by a single elimination bracket (GSL Style). Pretty much this tournament will be very familiar to those who have been following all of last year. However, we do have some changes for 2016 due to changing circumstances which I would like to take time to list out here.
Player Eligibility: Due to the changes in WCS, our initial criteria for player eligibility required some reworking. These new eligibility requirements will go into effect for this tournament to continue to target the main audience we’ve been aiming to serve, the unsung ladder heroes who aren’t the premier level players yet. The eligibility requirements are as follows: * Players must not have qualified for WCS Premier League in 2015. * Players must not have finished in the Top 16 spots in a Premier Level Tournament since the launch of Legacy of the Void. * Players must be eligible to participate in the WCS Circuit System.
Qualifiers: This season, we’ll be having three qualifiers where 8 players from each qualifier will move on to the Main Event. That will be 24 spots. Then there will be the Top 4 from our last season of RSL and then the top 4 players from the Rival Weeklies we’ve been having, for 32 players total. * Qualifier 1 (Thurs, February 4th 9p EST) * Qualifier 2 (Sat, February 6th 2p EST) * Qualifer 3 (Sat, February 6th 10p EST) * Rival Weekly Leaderboard * Top 4 from RSL Season 3 2015 (Strange, Namshar, PandaBearMe, JonSnow)
Tentative Schedule: The schedule is what we’re planning on, but may be subject to change based on player availability.
2/11/2016 8pm EST Ro32 Group A 2/12/2016 8pm EST Ro32 Group B 2/13/2016 8pm EST Ro32 Group C 2/14/2016 8pm EST Ro32 Group D 2/18/2016 8pm EST Ro32 Group E 2/19/2016 8pm EST Ro32 Group F 2/20/2016 8pm EST Ro32 Group G 2/21/2016 8pm EST Ro32 Group H 2/25/2016 8pm EST Ro16 Group A 2/26/2016 8pm EST Ro16 Group B 2/27/2016 8pm EST Ro16 Group C 2/28/2016 8pm EST Ro16 Group D 3/3/2016 7pm EST Quarterfinals 3/10/2016 8pm EST Semifinals 3/13/2016 8pm EST Grand Finals
Prize Pool: Our initial Prize Pool will start at $700, with the room to grow on more opportunities for income. Initial payouts will be as follows (USD) (subject to change if prize pool increases): 1st: $300 2nd: $150 3rd/4th: $75 5th-8th: $25
Patreon: Speaking of Prize Pool, we’ve recently opened up a Patreon campaign to help fund the prize pools for the RSL. We opened up the option for those who wish to contribute to the RSL.

Additional Note: We're looking for Streamers to help out with broadcast productions. If you're interested in helping with that, please pm us or Hawkeye59 on TL or reach out to Hawkeye on Twitter.
EDIT: Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 3 times have been shifted back to reduce conflict scheduling with WCS NA Qualifiers that are running earlier.
EDIT 2: We have announced that our Prize Pool has increased from $500 to $700! We have updated the Prize Pool distribution accordingly!

Follow up Update regarding conflicts with WCS NA qualifiers. We have adjusted times for Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 3 to avoid NA WCS Qualifier times (or partially avoid them).
Qualifier 1: Thurs, February 4th @ 9p EST. Qualifier 3: Saturday, February 6th @10p EST.
Hope this allows for more flexibility for players! Thank you for your understanding!

We're excited to announce that we have partnered with the OSC for this Main Event this season! The RSL has always been about focusing on the non-premier players who compete in the StarCraft II Scene. By joining forces with the OSC, we'll further enhance the player's tournament experience and expand our collaboration efforts with other leagues. The new prize pool will include OSC Points along side the cash earnings!
2016 Season 1 Prize pool
1st $300 + 300 OSC points 2nd $150 + 200 OSC points 3rd/4th $75 + 115 OSC points each 5-8th $25 + 40 OSC points each 9-12th 20 OSC points each 13-16th 10 OSC points each 17-24th 5 OSC points each
Prizes are in USD
The Oseanic StarCraft 2 Championship (OSC) is the Oceanic, South East Asian, North American and Chinese regional championship, which follows a yearly season format, where players earn points for placing in all partnered tournaments. Although the network is based in and focuses on these regions, many events are open to everyone in the world.
The top 32 players ranked via the OSC Player Leader board at the end of the season are then invited to play in the minimum $7000+ Grand Finale to determine the yearly champion! OSC World Rankings were established in December 2012.
In 2015 OSC partnered tournaments gave away $49885 combined prizepool, we had 190 completed partnered tournaments (up 22% on 2014), and saw 498 individual players with points earned (up 39% on 2014)
Current season rankings and database can be viewed here

Unfortunately, HeltEn is unable to play his Ro32 slot in Group C, so we have gotten POX of ECV to replace him!
|
Unfortunately, TeebuL is unable to play his Ro32 slot in Group H, so we have gotten Rival Cuddlebear to replace him!
|
Unfortunately, we have a few more withdrawls from the tournament. TeebuL and CrucialNug both have dropped from their respective groups. Replacing them will be Cuddlebear from Rival Gaming and BuBBa from Team Ascension.
