1v1 is one of the most competitive modes that any game can have. But what happens when we throw another 2 players in a bigger map and with more resources?
Maybe one of the greatest versions of competitive team games in StarCraft 2. With that in mind ESL NA brings to you our 2v2 Skill Cups hosted on the Americas region.
Some information you may use:
- Time:It happens every Saturday at 7PM Central Time;
- Chat Channel: ESL NA on the Americas Region ("/join ESL NA");
- Format: Single Elimination - Bo3 with Finals being Bo5.
- Map Pool: Standard ladder 2v2 map pool
- Check-in: 30 minutes before the tournament, and made by the Captain of the team in the ESL website.
About the Game Servers in the Americas region:
The rules concerning the game servers were update:
Since the 2v2 Skill Cup is organized by the ESL NA, the main " game server" within the Americas region to be used on the tournament will be:ODR1-S2 - Central United States
By signing up and checking in, all players in any edition of the 2v2 Skill Cups agree with this rule. And there is only one exception to that:
If both players are from geographic locations that are favored by a game servers different from the one stated before, they are allowed to play on the respective one.
In case of two teams from West Coast facing each other, they are allowed to select the "US West". The same is valid to the case of two Brazilian players, they are allowed to play on the "Brazil" game server.
In order to have a match played outside the Americas region, in the case of two European teams facing each other, they must contact and admin in-game before switching regions.
In the case of any different combination:
- NA vs EU
- NA vs KR
- KR vs EU
- SEA vs NA
- SEA vs EU
- SEA vs LatAm
- LatAm vs KR
- LatAm vs NA
- LatAm vs EU
The default game server is the one stated before: ODR1-S2.
And this is the important part: When you host a game, do not stay in a party with your opponent. Just create the lobby, right click his name on the chat and hit "invite to game".
Team games related details
As part of the nature of teamgames, we have a few details that must be set, one of those is regarding substitutions. For those we have these rules:
- Only one substitution is allowed per tournament, and if it is justifiable (Power outage, irrecoverable crashes, hardware failures or complete connection failures);
- A player can only be replaced by other that has an ESL account with updated gameaccount information and that is registered within the team;
- Any match that requires a sub must be re-played from scratch, since it is another player, another race, another way to play. (if it is 1-0, scores resets to 0-0 and they redo the vetos).
- After a substitution, if the original player comes back, he won't be allowed to play, the sub will be the official player until the end of that cup.
Coverage
Expect to see coverage done by community casters vouched by ESL Admins. Most likely it will be broadcasted in the ESL SC2b channel: http://www.twitch.tv/esl_sc2b
