A minimum of 100 games must be played on NA server to determine an accurate mmr on the server.
Default server is NA central if an agreement can not be made between both parties.
I reserve the right to kick/ban/deny entry to the tournament, or payment for anyone for any reason, not just limited to the actions below: cheating / smurfing / Invalid mmr / bad manner / not following correct map vetos & picks / or being Avilo. You can not deny an official caster. The only caster is me, Voltz, I will never be on a smurf.
Where and when to watch
https://www.twitch.tv/voltz_starcraft Saturdays @6pm EST
What is the purpose of this? I want to help foster talent and growth for the NA scene, as well as give back to the community that helped me grow. The reason for the mmr cap is to make sure the money goes to a player who wouldn't get it otherwise.
I was inspired by people like Feardragon, NSGJoe,Eddy Edwards(OSC) etc.
Final words I can't wait to see you play in our tournament. I hope to keep this running for a very long time. If you wont play, I hope you will still tune in. https://www.twitch.tv/voltz_starcraft Every Saturday @6pm EST
IMPORTANT NOTICE
No player higher than 5600 MMR will be allowed to play. If you are caught smurfing, I will do my best to make sure you never play in this tournament again, and let other tournament organizers know about you as well.
This is all self funded. I would love to work with sponsors or partners, you can contact me @ https://twitter.com/Voltz_sc2 DMs are open.

Copy paste from reddit: It's the only thing I could think of to stop players like pilipili, puck, etc etc from taking the money. I really wanted to make sure it goes to someone who wouldn't get it otherwise. If you have any suggestions let me know, I'd be willing to change it for the future.

Can I ask what's wrong with players like PiLiPiLi and Puck getting the money? Since they are trying to live of SC money, why bar them from playing?

Nothing is wrong with them getting money. I hope they win lots of it, they are both friends of mine. My tournament is aimed at players below their skill level, players on their way up. By the logic of your statement, do you also have a problem with those BSG cups? What about the Masters only cups? Why can't players like puck and pilipili play in those since they are trying to live off SC money. See my point? ( ^ :

The problem with comparing this to a B/S/G is that a BSG awards nothing of interest to a pro player since no BSG offers prize money. Same with most Masters only cups, it's usually a very small prize pool. And while a $35 prize pool isn't huge it could still afford a pro a meal.
Additionally, most of those up and comers are either still living at home or have jobs, so the money isn't as essential to them since they have other sources of income to fall back on.
Just my 2 cents, not to say the cup isn't a good idea or doesn't contribute to Starcraft. I love that people are still willing to do what they can to help the scene in any way they can!

Like lets say anyone who has made more then 1k USD aren't allowed to play or something like that

Eh, to be honest I think that would be kind of hard to verify though. There are a lot of small cups that add up over time that TL may not add to a player's page.

I never said I was letting him play. Rules exist for a reason. Hopefully european based organizers will step up soon and run this sort of tournament if there is interest in it.

Just to confirm, Challonge description still says NA players only, but TL thread says "North American, SEA, AU, and CH players". Which is true for this week's cup?
|
Sweet I gotta play 40 more games to be eligible!
I'm glad to see more amateur tournaments out there!
Thanks :D

NA, SEA, AU, and CH are eligible for every week going forward. That was my mistake not updating the challonge page, should be updated now.
